To be fair, it takes a little longer than one minute. An electric toothbrush is far more effective than a manual one and the built-in timer say 30 seconds per quadrant so two full minutes of actual brushing. Consumer Reports did a review of dozens of brands of toothpaste and concluded that Colgate's regular formula was the best you could buy, primarily because it has crushed seashells in it for a bit of abrasiveness. It was "measurably" better, but not a lot better. After that, it was something like a 20-way tie for second place among all the toothpastes that use the maximum amount of fluoride allowed by law. So, they said if you want the absolute best, use Colgate. If cost is at all a concern, use Costco's Kirkland brand since it was in that 20-way tie for second place and is far cheaper than any other toothpaste of similar quality. My dentist recommends brushing twice a day with a different toothpaste for each: Colgate because it's the best, and also Arm & Hammer because it's one of the second-best and one of the least abrasive toothpastes on the market.

Seriously, how the hell does the first person even find something like that?

Your forum account was created on February 14th and you must have a forum account to make a game account. This means that, at the time of this post, you have been playing for a maximum of 44 days. You have NOT been playing for a long time. Most of your post is objectively bad advice. Please understand that my goal with this statement is to inform other new players reading this thread so that they will know not to do these things. At the very minimum, a better strategy is to take the reward merits, buy converters and sell them on the auction house. One reward merit buys 3 converters, which sell for around 70,000 inf. There are *FAR* better strategies to make money, but they require more time and knowledge.

Actually, the one for doing it uphill both ways in the snow is the 'Worthy Opponent' badge.

I think this is a significant factor. I can tell you that I attend every single RHW run, on a character that I created ONLY for the RHW badge attempts. He's a beam rifle/kinetics corr with every single power and slotting decision made with the RHW badge in mind. By my count, I've taken him on RHW runs 85 times so I kind of know the drill. And the Everlasting TF's channel has an entire cadre of hardcore players and there's usually several of them on every RHW run. Frequently, we have Veracor tanking (you know, the guy with something like 20,000 vet levels). Back in the early days of the badge, we used to do RHW with something like 20 corrs *REQUIRED* or we wouldn't even attempt it and just a couple of 'carry' slots to get people the badge. Nowadays, if we have half a dozen or so hardcore players, at least 5 corrs, at least 3 people with kinetics, the rest of the league isn't that big of a deal. But yeah, like lemming suggests, having a handful of SERIOUS players on the league makes a huge difference.

Yes. Ironblade has the mini character, enough costumes to get the badges plus 5-6 more. Currently, he has about 700 prismatic aether that I'm not sure what to do with. I have not purchased any. When you say "most of us", I'm guessing you mean the players who frequent the Market forum. Because that sure as hell ain't chump change for the average player. Are you talking about the Monstrous Aether? As I recall, there is no 'drop rate', per se. Giant monsters each drop a fixed number of MA (different for different monsters) and there is no percentage chance involved and no other way to get them. Prismatics have a 2% chance to drop upon completing a mission. I do recall ONE drop rate that is a fraction of 1% and that would be the odds of getting the Hamidon Bud vanity pet from killing a bud.

Indom no longer the least populated server!
Ironblade replied to Glacier Peak's topic in General Discussion
As Yogi Berra might have said: No one goes to Excelsior any more. It's too crowded. 🙂 -
I would have politely corrected the person. And, if the aura in question was one that provided defense or status protection, I would have left it *ON* since it is, in fact, helping people regardless of what the uninformed believe.

And when we combine these . . . when Dr. Q is the weekly, I will occasionally log in my three accounts (my girlfriend might log in 1 or 2 as well), and then I solo it. It's a multi-hour slog due to the team size, but my 3 accounts will get 732 merits combined. Even if it took me 4 hours, that's better than 1 merit per minute for each account. Of course, that TF is only up one week each quarter.

why cannot people use words right? Remote bomb... remote?

If we have an issue with the name of the power, can we now discuss what 'enchantments' to slot in it? 🙂 -
Cool. I show up in both threads, as a member of . . . The Forum Cartel!

Offhand, I would say there are two main factors to consider: Are you alone and what are you fighting? If you're on a team, -res benefits everyone on the team so that would be preferable. If you're fighting 'hard' targets like AV's (or EB's, GM's), having the -res might work better than the extra damage. Maybe. There's a lot of variables. Most of the time, you're going to kill things fast enough that the -res is probably sub-optimal. So, in a few situations, the answer is clear. If it's a tank that you only use for teaming, go -res. If it's a corr that you only solo, go +damage. Also remember, there's no such thing as too much overkill. Go big or go home. I did a concept build named Toggle Man (based on the prose linked in my signature). He has exactly two click attacks: Lunge and Boxing. All the rest of his damage comes from auras (he's spines/dark armor scrapper). His auras are larded up with damage procs and the build is shockingly good against crowds of enemies.

Right. Each character gets one free run of every single arc (there are 12 total) with no timer involved. I ran through every single one consecutively on my badger for 240 merits. I then ran one more for 20 merits, which starts the timer for any arc on that character since he had no 'free runs' remaining.
-
And don't get tripped up by that "most". A good rule of thumb is that, if a mission or arc already awards a badge for completing it, it probably doesn't count for the 'optional' badges like no deaths, 30 minute timer, no travel powers, etc.
-
Actually, I remember that being changed and I just took a level 10 character into Cimerora to be sure.
-
This is 100% correct, but leaves out one important fact. Doing a patron arc and receiving the badge for it unlocks *ALL* the patron pools. You can only pick one, but you can pick ANY one pool, regardless of which contact you spoke with. Most people think Black Scorpion's arc is the easiest so they will do that one no matter which pool they intend to use.

What forum should we go to for server status updates?
Ironblade replied to Story Archer's topic in General Discussion
You can also go to the menu bar at the top of this page and click 'Browse', then 'Server Status'. Edit: Actually, don't CLICK on 'Browse'. Mouse over it and the menu opens, then click 'Server Status'. -
Yes to copyrighted characters and yes to CoH characters also. Homages are not copies. They are inspired by the character.

Yeah, I was playing my empathy defender and on every other spawn, the blaster was yelling about how he needed endurance. Whatever, pal. I have ONE power that boosts END and it has a long recharge. The problem is that your build sucks.
-
Eh, one of my earliest characters back on live was empathy/dark and CoH was my first MMO. I've also done a fire/emp corr. Empathy is a good set if you actually understand this game and that being a "pure healer" is stupid.
-
I thought vampires had a thing about fire. This is what we need more of. PUG leaders who give realistic instructions. "Stay away from the front door until we clear the area." LOL AS IF. "Run around like a pack of brainless idiots." We're on it.

Which one of you jokers dumped a bunch of cheap LotG on the Market?
Ironblade replied to sbloyd's topic in The Market
Is this a general question on how to get influence (money) in the game? The simplest, and inevitable way, is to play a level 50 character. Your influence earning is proportional to your level. The fastest way, which many find to be tedious and boring, is working the market (auction house). You're sitting there working the market interface instead of playing. In between, is farming. This is where you build a character to be highly survivable and do good damage in very specific conditions - then play them in those conditions repeatedly. For example, you might do radio missions against only one type of enemy. Or, at the extreme, you use the Mission Architect system and play one specific mission over and over. Plenty of people find this boring, but some enjoy it since you're actually hitting enemies.
