  1. You can also go to the menu bar at the top of this page and click 'Browse', then 'Server Status'. Edit: Actually, don't CLICK on 'Browse'. Mouse over it and the menu opens, then click 'Server Status'.
  2. Yes to copyrighted characters and yes to CoH characters also. Homages are not copies. They are inspired by the character.
  3. Yeah, I was playing my empathy defender and on every other spawn, the blaster was yelling about how he needed endurance. Whatever, pal. I have ONE power that boosts END and it has a long recharge. The problem is that your build sucks.
  4. Eh, one of my earliest characters back on live was empathy/dark and CoH was my first MMO. I've also done a fire/emp corr. Empathy is a good set if you actually understand this game and that being a "pure healer" is stupid.
  5. I thought vampires had a thing about fire. This is what we need more of. PUG leaders who give realistic instructions. "Stay away from the front door until we clear the area." LOL AS IF. "Run around like a pack of brainless idiots." We're on it.
  6. Is this a general question on how to get influence (money) in the game? The simplest, and inevitable way, is to play a level 50 character. Your influence earning is proportional to your level. The fastest way, which many find to be tedious and boring, is working the market (auction house). You're sitting there working the market interface instead of playing. In between, is farming. This is where you build a character to be highly survivable and do good damage in very specific conditions - then play them in those conditions repeatedly. For example, you might do radio missions against only one type of enemy. Or, at the extreme, you use the Mission Architect system and play one specific mission over and over. Plenty of people find this boring, but some enjoy it since you're actually hitting enemies.
  7. And let's not forget the classic: "I'm standing right next to the contact; where are you?" "Um..... which shard are you on?" "Oh......" Yep. This is what I do. They're also generally attentive to this issue and lead off with a tell, "Hey, I'm back. I was <previous character>" Yeah . . . I don't think i want to be on that team after all.
  8. Yeah, well, it tells me I have to log in to read the thread and I have no idea what the 'Closed Beta' server is. Did it used to have another name? I use a password manager RELIGIOUSLY and I can guarantee I have no account on any system named 'Closed Beta'. I still have my passwords from the original CoH because I just move defunct passwords to the 'Old' folder.
  9. So I got an email about migrating my account to the Homecoming servers. What? Some server is merging with Homecoming? I haven't played on another server; why am I getting email about it?
  10. I run multiple task forces every week and I think you're seriously underestimating how many new players are around. Also, returning players that haven't touch the game since around 2010 and just found out that it's back. Having said that, I also recognize that my experience may be skewed by the fact that I only lead task forces and basically never lead teams for random arcs, radio missions, etc. Players who sign on for a task force are probably more focused and experienced than the average PUG member.
  11. Most of the time I am not solo. When I am solo, generally +0/x1 because I'm speedrunning for the reward or a badge most of the time. If I'm on a tank or brute with a lot of AoE, I'll go to x3 or x4 on the team size since it feels more efficient.
  12. Yeah. A lot of so-called triple-A games could take a lesson from this launcher. Sure, some launchers out there are great, but some are just shockingly awful.
  13. This is really a situational thing. A team of 8 controllers would be extremely powerful and get through enemies quickly - AFTER they get their pets. By then, they'll have a good array of powers, probably some IO's and, as noted, their pets which are their main source of damage. But you're talking about Frostfire which, as I recall, is in the 12-15 range? So if people are actually in that range, it's pretty rough no matter what AT's you have. For this reason, I would never turn up the difficulty. I do Positron and Synapse at base difficulty. I only go to +1 once we reach the Penny Yin TF which is 20-25. By the time you're ready for the ITF, sure, plenty of teams can handle +4. But Frostfire? Ouch.
  14. That's always how it is. Like when all the yuppies were drinking Jagermeister to be cool - meanwhile, in Europe, only drunkards were drinking it.
  15. Yep. I was in one SG that my brother started with only family and real-life friends. The base builder lamented not having enough prestige for a good base so I bought 500 million worth to get him started.
  16. Well, I do a ton of task forces. To generate influence, I buy converters 3,000 at a time using merits, then buy trash recipes, craft them and convert to stuff that sells. I spend 15-20 minutes at it, about 3-4 times per week and that will get that character to the inf cap (2 billion) in a month or so. I could make money faster, but why bother? I only make a new character every other month or thereabouts, so I make money faster than I need it. And I have 52,000 reward merits still sitting around.
  17. Most of my actual talking on Discord is when gaming with family members. As for typing and staying up to date on things, I'm on the CoH Discord, three SG ones, one for Valheim, one for Star Citizen and three for (cough) Pokemon Go. 🙂
  18. In my experience, it has not been like that in any game I can think of. Whether you're talking about an MMO like Everquest, Black Desert or Elder Scrolls. Or if you're talking about open world survival like Valheim, 7 Days To Die, etc. It's always a varying amount of struggle at low levels. Some are worse than others. This game is actually pretty good compared to many since you aren't useless with poor gear (enhancements). What I find works in this game, for a new character, is to run the Death From Below trial about four times. Each time you run it, you can get a buff that lasts. . . . don't quote me on this, but I think it's 7 in-game days or until you hit level 20. There are four buffs: accuracy, damage, defense and END recovery. You'll also get SO's from each arch-villain defeated (there are five). Of course, they won't all be useful and the ones you get on the first run will probably expire by the fourth run. But, between the buffs and the SO's you get, you'll be serviceable. My early goal is to get high enough level to start running task forces. I enjoy them and someone is always starting one. If not, I'll start one. Positron part 1 starts at level 8. Task forces give Reward Merits which can be sold or used to generate greater funds. Also, it's worth watching out for the 'Weekly Strike Targets'. Every week, there are 3 task forces or strike forces (villain side) that will give bonus XP and double the number of reward merits. Of course, not every week features a low level task force so that depends on the timing.
  19. Superjump does that also. Your jump continues until you release the space bar, then you immediately start to descend. Well, no. It doesn't do that. LOL. I'm guessing you have not seen those powers in action. Ninja Run is far slower - FAR slower. That's what justifies having it be free. It's a tremendously watered down substitute.
  20. Fire and the Flames SF. Contact is Mortimer Kal and you have to do a villain mission from a tip. I think the tip is called 'A Wizard's Weakness', where you have to kidnap Morty's daughter to blackmail him.
  21. I only fought scrapyard once. I fought Jurassik and the Goliath Warwalker multiple times, plus a few others once each.
  22. Witchcraft? Oh, you mean jerk hacking.
  23. I'm hearing this from a lot of people and I haven't gotten a recipe drop yet, either. I wonder if the odds are set correctly. Maybe someone misplaced a decimal point.
  24. Because, let me guess, buying prestige wasn't "the right way to do it" or "it shouldn't count" or some such drivel? 🙂
