Ever since this thread, I've been rolling an SS/Regen Brute and it's been loads of fun. PL'd to 35 and solo'd the rest of the way up. Never had a dull moment. Now I'm using it for Hard Mode content and it's going swimmingly. PS: If you come across my build, I've ended up switching out Musculature Radial for Vigor Core.

What do you consider the worst power combos?
Spaghetti Betty replied to shadowrex's topic in General Discussion
This has been my favorite toon lately. I just off-tanked for a 4* ITF with it last night! -
If you're dead set on this, it's going to be hard to get it just in set bonuses alone without sacrificing in other areas. The route I would go is to figure out what I would be ok giving up in order to nab RoP (There is very little downtime between Rune and Melee Hybrid), but that would be still be hard sell considering something would have to go. In my mind the first thing on the chopping block would be the Energy pool, but something tells me that's cutting into the theme.
-
Quick thought I had. You could try gambling with Overload in order to cover that -DEF, but it will be a pretty big gamble, since Overload will floor your end when it crashes. The end crash can be mitigated with Energy Drain, but requires timing. I would only recommend that as a last ditch effort if you find yourself under heavy fire.

I can attest that double Rage is loads of fun and definitely worth the crash. The only thing I'd be concerned about with SS/EnA is that you are going to be pretty vulnerable for those 10 seconds thanks to the -20% DEF. With that being the case, I would go all in on the damage so that things are dead before that vulnerability window arises. I got some ideas for you. I see you wanted to take the NRG epic so I followed that, but I can't not take Combat Jumping. Brainstorming can take weeks. Finally sitting down and working on a concept to completion, I'd say about an hour on average. Well I don't exactly time myself. Uh, I guess a couple of weeks (real time)? It's been a while since I had to spend a lot of time on 1 look. Mostly when I returned to CoH and was relearning the creator. It was this one. Originally, it looked like this, But after about a week or so of playing the toon, I decided I wanted the look to pop more. So I spent a couple of days combing the creator to figure out how to do that while retaining the overall feel of the concept. I've participated in a handful and never won once. Woo photo dump!

PI pugs can be fun if they are bad enough
Spaghetti Betty replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
On the rare occasion I do join a PI radio team, it's usually on a Tank. If I can manage to sneak away from the rest of the group, I'll start pulling mobs from the back towards the front. This makes things 10x more interesting for me. How long can I keep the team stalled at the entrance? It's like facerolling backwards. Assrolling? -

Is Regen poor or simply challenging (Psi/Regen build request)?
Spaghetti Betty replied to Waljoricar's topic in Scrapper
Regen is an interesting case. A lot of the criticisms leveraged at it have merit, but it can also be underestimated. It's a set that relies completely on your reaction time and precognition during combat. If you're wanting a "set and forget" powerset, this ain't it. One thing to consider when rolling a Regen is not necessarily what is already available in your toolkit, but what you can pull from other sources in order to bolster your defenses so that Reconstruction and Instant Healing become important padding instead of perceived critical mitigation tools. Things like Rune of Protection, Unleash Potential, Shadow Meld, etc. that offer massive protection for a short time will be vital. Another big piece of the puzzle that is Regen is Slow Resistance. You need your clicks to come back, so if mobs are debuffing your recharge, you're gonna be in a bad spot. The last thing to consider is various forms of soft control that are present in your chosen Melee. Luckily, you'll have good quality of life with Mass Levitate being able to toss mobs around like Godzilla shaking a bouncy castle. All of that being said, here's a fairly simple take to get your tinker tinkering. I think I've done the Valentine content once. Might be a good time to run through them again. The tip missions are cute, but having to request a player of the opposite alignment to complete that one mish is too big of an ask for me. I feel like this event is begging for league-style content like how the Lord Winter instance was done. No idea what it would be. I would definitely add more temporary powers. You mean I can't give someone a Box of Chocolates (open for 8-12 insps) or throw a rose at an enemy (short duration mag 2 confuse)? Oh, and I think a "secret admirer" bulletin board stationed somewhere would be neat. I'm over the direct approach. I wanted @Snarky to be my valentine, but he accused me of not communicating my true feelings properly and left.

While that 8 mil price tag can be daunting, ATOs are worth slotting in your build. My advice would be to gather up 100 mil using your preferred method and buy a few Super Packs off the auction house. When you open these, you have a good chance of nabbing 1 (or possibly even 2!) plus a bunch of other goodies. You can sell back everything you don't need and eventually they will start paying for themselves with enough pulls. They are, like most things in the game unfortunately, not created equal. If you're playing a Tanker, Scrapper, or Stalker, ATOs are veritable game changers and you're missing out on huge buffs if you don't use them. Other ATs, well, they get nice set bonuses. Regular ATOs can be slotted starting at level 10. You can bring them into their true potential by catalyzing them at level 50. You use an Enhancement Catalyst on an enhancement by opening the same window you would use to combine enhancements. If you're able to apply a Catalyst to an enhancement, the option will pop up there. Once you apply a Catalyst to an ATO (or a Winter O), it can only be equipped at level 50. The bonuses will still scale down all the way to level 10.

My new character "routine" on entering the game
Spaghetti Betty replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
Make the toon, load in, immediately log out because I just had an idea for a neat look and don't actually want to play it yet. Days pass... Log into that toon, admire the neat look, adjust trays. Go to P2W. Buy slew of powers/enhancements/amps. Crank up the diff to x8. Spend an hour tweaking costume because I had an idea, subsequently wasting my amps. Finally get done, load in first mish, die immediately. Woo! -

It's hard for me to answer this, because I have an aversion to support toons. No particular reason. I just like playing Melee ATs more. I find myself liking Dual Pistols better on my Corruptor. I've tried Elec blast on a couple of ATs, but I like it on Defender the best. Other than that, I can't really comment much on ranged sets. Unga bunga melee brain and all that. I think it goes without saying that RES-based armors are gonna be way stronger defensively on a Tanker vs a Scrapper or Brute. There's also caveats to that as well. Rad Armor and Bio Armor are great on Scrappers because of the hybrid protection (Absorb is just that good) and offense (proc nukes, -RES aura) they bring. But personally, I couldn't find myself making a Fiery Aura or Elec Armor Scrapper. Just a little too squishy. DEF-based armors really fit in anywhere. I have SR Scraps and Tanks that are very safe. Really, this could be an essay in itself, so I'll stop now. I'm pretty sure this has been debated pretty recently, but I can share my own experiences. After playing Staff Fighting on a Scrap and Tank, I will pick the Scrap every time. The Tank puts me to sleep. I like SS on a Tank more, but that's due to the safety of Tanks. Fire Melee feels better on Tanks because of the extra AoE. Ice Melee is just great on every AT. I honestly can't give you a solid answer to this question, because I don't even know. The toons I make just end up satisfying an itch I didn't know I had until I start playing. I like my AR/TA Blaster because it goes dakka dakka dakka. I like my Rad/SS Tank because it goes boosh. I like my Ice/Stone Scrap because it has a funny name.
