Not making an argument for or against it (in fact I support the idea because why not), but I didn't see anyone else step up and give an explanation, so I'll try. I'm not a hard numbers guy and these are just hypotheticals based on personal observations so keep that in mind. EA already pumps out a buttload of DEF on just a scrapper. To put it in perspective, my /EnA's will usually hover at about 50% DEF to all types (except Psi) before I even think about hitting Energy Drain, which, with 10 targets, will pump it into the 57-58% range. And the resistances aren't too shabby either. Usually in the 45-50% range (except toxic and psi) to all types. Add the fact that it has built in Slow RES and a solid heal and I can see how one would argue it might be a little overtuned. The only thing holding it back is poor DDR. I'd imagine if you add Tanker mods to that, you're looking at something in the 60s for DEF (and that pesky psi hole will probably be patched up too) and maybe even reaching 70% if you try really hard. I don't think anything short of Observers or Hard Mode Cims are getting through that. Then you add the massive layer of RES a Tanker would have on top of that. The meager 50-ish I mentioned earlier would rise exponentially given Tanker mods and MotT ATO. I would guess you could see it in the upper 70s after all that is considered. Maybe higher. And don't forget Energize is still a thing. 50+% HP back for your troubles. But the set still has very little DDR, so, shrug. I still think Tankers should get it already. But I also want Scrappers to get Super Strength, just because it would be funny.

The main problem with trying to build for +DMG set bonuses is that the bonuses themselves are so miniscule that it wouldn't amount to much, even if you specifically sought them out in your build. Loading up procs is by far the better way to go if you're looking to add onto your damage.

FX change suggestion for Battle Axe
Spaghetti Betty replied to Voltixdark's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Hmm, I don't recall Axe Cyclone looking that way on the Beta. To me it looks like something happened during the transition to Live that made the actual hit spark for the axe slam trigger at the wrong point during the animation. Could be a graphical bug. Yep, I just went back and checked some footage I recorded of the Beta. The axe hitspark was properly displaying after the following slam and not at the start of the cyclone. -
You could always try them in Brainstorm to see if you wanna commit to a toon on live before you just trash it. Mids has an option to let you port a build into Brainstorm via popmenu. It's here: That way your second guessing can be turned into helpful learning experiences.

Third?! Third?!

Minor cosmetic suggestion. Would it be possible to add a similar belt without the chain? There isn't another option under Belts that can replicate the same "tattered cloth" look.

Sooner than Soon™© (codename i27p5,2nds)

Absolutely not. It's more of a time investment than anything. If you can't tell. I'm joke complaining. The changes are badass. -

Nope. I just have around 30 toons that I play regularly. Out of the other 70, I'd surmise at least half of them will benefit greatly from the availability changes. Then there's all of my Axe toons that will need a hard look at after the revamp. Don't have altitis, kids! Drugs are bad! -

Perfect. Soon the anxiety I've been experiencing opening up my character screen and seeing how many toons I wanna respec will turn into sheer horror as I begin the process of respeccing every toon I want to respec.- 77 replies

Probably do a ton of respeccing. I mostly play Tanks, so the availability changes are pretty big. Just off the top of my head, my Fire/MA, Rad/SS, and SR/DM will all be getting a look at. Oh yeah, and every Blaster too. I think I have some Scrappers that could also use a look at. And I have a couple of Controllers to consider as well. And my... Defenders. What have I done to receive such punishment?

Sounds badass. +1 for coming out victorious.

3 crashes? Oh, haha, Meltdown. I pick it so rarely I forgot it has an End crash as well. Yeah, that'll do it.
-
If you have Fly on during combat then I could see how this is an issue. A Rad/SS proc tank is gonna have just enough End to make it to the next Radiation Therapy click. That's another reason I roll Musculature Radial over Core, since it also gives a small boost to End Mod powers. I would recommend having Weave off as well. You'll still retain the bonuses from the IOs, but having it toggled will just waste your end.

After Page 5 Brutes will suck more. Here's why
Spaghetti Betty replied to Spaghetti Betty's topic in Brute
That much extra recharge would drastically decrease the recharge of Axe Cyclone, thereby increasing the use of the vacuum effect. This makes Battle Axe Brutes suck more. I hope this is easy to understand.- 42 replies

As of late there has been a great deal of lamenting about the glory days of the Brute and complaints about how much they suck in modern CoH. Well, it saddens me to bring more bad news, but Brutes will suck even more in Page 5, and here's why... In Page 5 there will be many powerset changes. Sentinels are doing extra damage. Masterminds got quality buffs as well. Even Force Fielders will now be able to contribute to teams in their own unique way. But what about Brutes? Well, in the upcoming update, Battle Axe will be getting a revamp as well. I want to call your attention to Whirling Axe - or as it will be known henceforth - Axe Cyclone. This new power will have the ability to draw in enemies within 15ft of the Brute. What this change means is that Brutes will now suck even more than they did before. And it doesn't stop there. If you're proc-happy, ALL Axe powers can take a Force Feedback: Chance for +Recharge proc, making the extra +100% global recharge a guarantee. This could potentially increase Brute suckage thricefold. Have the devs not learned from their past mistakes? If you compound this with other additions of power creep, then it's no secret that Brutes already sucked by using Fold Space. When will the suckage cease? These are truly the end times. Please have calm and rational discussion below. And stay tuned for my threads on why Stone Melee is the most solid set, and how my opinion on Storm Summoning will blow you away.
