  1. Maybe we should leave the straw men from the last thread buried in their grave...
  2. Even though I'm normally in the 'more difficulty' camp, I couldn't back this specific idea. I was fighting vanguard on a perfectly soloable character yesterday and had to floor the difficulty. I do like that such enemies exist, but I wouldn't want it to be everyone. A similar suggestion was to have an option for support bosses who'd appear now and then and provide a random buff to its allies. One of those buffs could be a -def proc, like you suggest. Players who don't focus such bosses do so at their peril. I could get behind that a little more - it's not just trying to subdue the meta; it brings a small ounce of situational awareness and coordination to the game.
  3. But the green number under our names is important too, right? Just asking cos mine is getting quite high but my Dad still doesn't seem proud of me.
  4. Those character names are golden.
  5. A clues based badge hunting walkthrough would be a pretty neat project!
  6. If you take a look at the Homecoming Faultline badge changes, you'll see it was a bit of a collective effort to find the new badges. They were hunted down within a couple of weeks, no piggs were harmed. I think the early badge hunting was much the same, but I wasn't really active at that time to know for sure.
  7. Yeah, as an opt-in thing this would be kinda awesome. Even as a non-PvPer, it'd be nice to have that sort of dynamic around.
  8. No dang way, that's awesome!
  9. I put the chance for hide proc into the assassin's strike power. Fire it off when you get Assassin's Focus for a big crit and hide then fire off your strongest attack for another big crit. I put the chance to recharge buildup into my strongest attack, but there might be better options. I find build up is available a lot that way.
  10. I guess criticism (critical criticism) requires an objective standpoint. Comparing opinions wouldn't qualify. "I find farming boring" isn't the same as "farming is boring". The second is a criticism - an unfounded one by itself - the first one isn't. Edit: And to add, the statement "farming is boring" is disproven the moment someone says "I find farming fun."
  11. It would be a heck of a can of worms to open, for the dev team or GMs to decide what language is and isn't acceptable. Political language is broad and complicated. Blocking 'vote Gary' but not 'vote Greg' would be a disaster.* It would have to be clientside, leaving it up to the individual what they want to tune in and out of. It would be a lot of work for the player, I wouldn't use it myself, but I can appreciate the virtue of a system. It would mean players can try to block topics rather than people, which is a much more neutral way to control what you see. *Sorry to anyone who might be in the midst of a heated, controversial Gary vs Greg election. I did try to google this to make sure it wasn't happening.
  12. Those people are wrong. Strength in numbers. Strength in lag.
  13. It's more the notion that if a person sees a female character, slapping their butt is their first response. Like that's default behaviour when they see a woman, for no virtue other than that she's a woman. It's not pleasant to be a woman player in that sort of environment, even less so if it's deemed acceptable. It's clearly gruesome behaviour. Obviously detecting such activity would be hard to police, but continued harassment could be spotted. (I wonder if a butt-slap-detection algorithm is possible by measuring character locations in relation to each other when the emote is used. I'm sure there's a pun in there, at least.)
  14. My favourite variation of this is when the person making the announcement is clearly in the wrong.
  15. My prediction would be that the prices maybe fluctuate more than they currently do. Once they're above a certain market value, people might start enabling them again (a whole inventory full of common salvage could be worth about 1mil if the prices were to crawl up to 5k) and that would drive the prices back down again. They might equalise a smidge higher than they currently are. I think the weirdest effect would be, if you could disable salvage by tier, common salvage might end up being worth more on the AH than uncommon salvage. I doubt it'd be too bad.
  16. It's hard not to read your argument as "sexual harassment is fine under some circumstances".
  17. Not necessarily, but without players selling the set price of the salvage would be considerably higher. The low prices we enjoy are because players do add a lot to supply as is. I agree a more convenient way of selling bulk to AH would be nice.
  18. That would be on the player to adjust their filter if they feel like they need to. Though you don't see many people trying hard to circumvent the existing profanity filter. I doubt behaviours would change. You'd have to be a whole special sort of troll to try to find ways around people's filters, and there's an ignore list for such people.
  19. I use the word toon and I only just now learned that it's short for cartoon. Didn't occur to me.
  20. Customising the profanity filter clientside sounds like a good feature to have. Maybe not even that tricky, if the profanity filter could read from a text file. Outright blocking the message could lead to some perfectly innocent messages getting lost by an overzealous filter, but as long as the interface cautions this in some way I don't see there being a problem.
  21. Is there a benefit to removing it? This thread should be a request for better viking/norse costume parts, not that new costume parts are on the table yet. I agree that the preset you showed is a hot mess, but you really got to spin it to be offended by it.
  22. I'm firmly in that fifth group. This game is definitely targeted at a niche type of person, and towards sunset became increasingly for that certain type of person. A few weeks ago, it definitely hit me hard that I'm not one of those people. I was soloing a lot to try and get any satisfaction at all out of playing, but I was running low on stuff and do and the moment I teamed there was just nothing there for me, to the point I was struggling to complete content out of boredom or getting anxious about missing out on stuff. But y'know, different strokes for different folks. I enjoyed the year of nostalgia, but it's not my cup of tea anymore.
  23. Big no on this suggestion. Hasten is a very powerful choice, and the price tag of a power pick, a pool pick, a slot or two, some boosters and often your autofire power is a pretty fair exchange. I often don't take it, like others because I find I often don't particularly need it. I could get behind Rathulfr's proposed changes here, but I'm not in any rush to see it be changed.
