With all the talk of proc heavy builds and Bopper's Time Manipulation guide, I decided to make a heavy single target Corruptor to make use of them. The single target damage is awesome and pretty quick with more than enough global recharge to cover the lack in enhancements. In addition to the procs in single targets, I've got Distortion Field and Cutting Beam also slotted with them to add more AOE on top of Soul Drain and Overcharge. Overall there's a lot of recharge, decent heals, some resistances, over softcap aoe/ranged and near melee, and a lot of buffs and debuffs including -regen. I'm always open to suggestions if there's anything I've missed. Not a thing, it's a good combo and nice to see others play it. If you do take the Seer, I have heard it makes an excellent mule for the Def and Res IOs in pet sets, since they put an aura on you. I don't have space or I'd try it.
-
It depends on what you need mostly. In the build above I went for +recharge and defense capping, though there are others you can use. With Creepers you will have them perma with global recharge and only a little recharge in the power. I'll be reslotting mine for damage, a little recharge and acc, and two procs for more damage. I'll repost the build after changes.
-
Hey, I got a mention! Bear in mind I'm revamping this build over the weekend, probably only three powers for a bit of proc and Cloud Senses in fluffy. But the build pretty much still stands.
-
Just want to shout out to folks in this thread, especially Bopper and Sir Myshkin who have given some damned good input and advice on procs. My Beam/Time puts out some impressive damage compared to what I envisioned when I started the character. Some things like Distortion Field are solid proc choices, but a lot of the single target attacks I proc'd seem to have stupidly high damage. I have at least 4 single target attacks and 1 cone slotted with 2-4 procs each, and while some are better than others (Lancer, Piercing, Penetrating Shot) they're all pretty damned good. Thanks for the help with all of this over the last few weeks.
-
I expect it too, now that I'm aware of how it works. But I will definitely miss the +res component.
-
Interesting stuff, I was not aware of some of that. The reds + PB + Fade is very interesting in and of itself.
-
It does work with Clarion, though by the time I discovered that I'd already soft-capped through other means. So it's limited use now, but I still sometimes use it to boost Soul Absorption moreso than Fade. Is it a bug? I assumed it was intentional.
-
Water/Cold is also really fun, and I would think Water/Time would be as well. If you looking for optional defensive buff sets.
-
Not a blaster, but I do have a Beam/Time corruptor that I play in the same way mostly. I've recently started slotting some of the single target attacks very heavily with procs, and also cutting beam. I would highly suggest it as it can really increase your damage output overall, and makes cutting beam a very useful cone attack (4 procs in it now).

for a blaster which is better defense cap or resistance cap?
subbacultchas replied to the mauler's topic in Blaster
But you titled it "For a blaster...", so you are you sure? Really really sure you didn't post it in the right place? Maybe a Freudian slip, because you secretly love blasters more than sentinels? -

I'll mirror what HelenCarnate said. Capped defense with some res is the best option. You will have to deal with spikes though. -
Focused Feedback: Devices, Stealth and Misc Power changes

Good changes from what I can see, and I appreciate the few changes to Beam Rifle especially. I'll be checking those out tonight. -
Jokes aside, everyone's going to be on a team where they feel superfluous or that everything dies before they can even touch it. It doesn't necessarily matter the AT or build so much, some teams just gel in a way you don't expect that isn't necessarily in your favor. As long as team members aren't dying and you're finishing the content, you just kind of have to roll with it from time to time.

You better put on your fancy shoes, and kick that speed up a notch if you intend to get there before the blast does. In other words: nope 🙂

Prioritizing soft capping or extra damage with your Alpha
subbacultchas replied to Griffin's topic in Corruptor
Yeah, it's a shame because it used to be my goto alpha. But then again, it's let me try out some of the others I might not have otherwise, and I do kind of like Vigor for some builds now. -
Prioritizing soft capping or extra damage with your Alpha
subbacultchas replied to Griffin's topic in Corruptor
I am not 100% sure this is correct anymore, given some of the more recent proc testing. I was under the assumption now that Alpha *does* affect your procs in the way slotting for recharge does. I have since been skipping it for proc insanity. -
I'd love to be able to solo on a blaster... is this possible?
subbacultchas replied to Shang's topic in Blaster
You can feasibly make melee ranged blasters that can solo and even farm well too. I made a Water/Fire blaster with near capped defenses, tons of aoe/pbaoe, and bonfire for some level of controls. It soloed just fine from level 1 to where I left him at 47 (boring playstyle IMO), without much in the way of dying. Heck, one Buildup + Geyser + FSC and you've pretty much cleared anything that isn't a boss in groups in +2-4 x8. Blasters are definitely soloable, and can exist in melee ranged if you remember that ranged attacks don't have to have distance. -
Focused Feedback: Devices, Stealth and Misc Power changes
subbacultchas replied to Leandro's topic in Open Beta Testing
I dunno about that. Every non-melee ranged character I have uses stealth + stealth IO, and one or two of the melees depending. I have never (since live ended) taken more than Stealth out of this pool. I don't see that changing any time soon. -
This. I tried it and love power boost, but it's hard to accept the other powers in the Epic. I end up doing Stone or Fire on my /Darks.
-
It's all good. And you're correct, I've rebuilt a couple of times post-50 and I actually miss Distortion Field. I've got a final working build and will be taking it, and 4-5 slotting it with procs if I've freed up enough space.

Got complaints about being a mastermind in a group
subbacultchas replied to plainguy's topic in Mastermind
Nope, a petless Fire/ unfortunately. -
I think it sits at lifetime of the creator plus 95. We can thank Sonny Bono for one of the more recent extensions.
-
That's the build I'm currently running too, except I think I've finally hit softcap with the defenses entirely. I went earth instead of leviathan, and it works out pretty well too. One thing I found that I really like a lot is putting both "chance for +2 mag hold" in your single target hold. I find that it goes off a lot more often than you'd think depending on your recharge, and will most often hold a boss in a single hit. I've also got one in seismic smash too, so depending on my position I can single-shot hold two bosses and keep them there.
-
Yeah, I saw it forming and saw the time for Hamidon was closing, and ended up running it because there wasn't much other choice. However the leader was pretty cool along with it, he did explain the steps along the way which was pretty nice.
