And after a restart today, the character reappeared. I swear I'm not crazy though 🙂

Whats even better is having multiple 45+ characters, and swapping them out to get the 80 merits each time. That's 240 merits in 3 runs, or 480 merits in 6 (although more than 3 is uncommon to rare). Ive been doing this a few times a week for months, and able to bankroll my army of alts (7 level 50s, 5 of them fully IO'd). Just make sure to help with buds, and exit via SG teleporter macro, not by running to the door.

So I came across an issue last night where one of my characters got deleted. I'm not concerned about getting it back, even if it were possible, since it was only level 15 or so and like three days old. But I did want to bring it up somewhere, in case it happens to someone else. I'd made three characters, the Gorgon sisters, with the names Sister Gorgon, Sister Stheno, and Sister Euryale. They were in order on my character select screen. I decided to delete Sister Stheno so I could remake her and reuse the name. As normal, the prompt came up to type in the character name to delete it and I did so. Soon as I did, both Stheno and Euryale were gone, and I'm not really sure how or why. I thought maybe I'd clicked something wrong, but it should have prompted to type in Sister Euryale to delete that character as well. It was pretty late so I didn't spend more than a few minutes trying to figure it out, so maybe when I log later tonight I'll find the character. If not, I already had a Sister-Euryale in the wings in case I didn't like the one I'd made.

Opinion: More players should see Null the Gull
subbacultchas replied to Spotlore's topic in General Discussion
I loved COV when it first hit, and almost immediately switched to playing over there. I loved the new zone designs, the GMs, new ATs and all of it. But having played it for years, I found the actually villainy there to be almost comical in nature. I get it, it needs to appeal to a large target audience of children to adults so there are going to be some things the don't and shouldn't focus on. But I just couldn't escape that the villains felt more like something out of the old Freedom Force games, and just a little too hokey for me. That's one of the reasons I haven't been back there much. -
Hmm, looking again at the binds guide and this last one will likely not work. Queued attacks overwrite one another, unless this is changed, so the last bind would activate lightning rod. So do not expect that one to work as is, without some finagling.
-
The first one I think is easy, it's /bind key powexeclocation target "shield charge". I am not sure on the second, although I suspect if you bound both actions and shield charge had gone off, it would activate LR. So I would try this: /bind key powexeclocation target "shield charge"$$powexeclocation target "lightning rod" In both instances bind can be replaced with macro for a button, which is my preference, and the key replaced with the name you want to appear on the macro. I find macros to be an easier way to make these, as if it doesn't work you can right click on it to change it.

Nailed it. Thanks man.

I can't recall the map, but it was one of the AV maps I think. As long as the AV wasn't killed, it was the premier farming mission back in the day. A /fire tank would farm the entire map of ninjas, and it's a very large map where the AV is always dead center. Everyone else would wait while the tanker herded them behind a rock/tombstone near the entrance and slowly whittle them down with burn. It's likely one of the reasons the burn itself was change, before the terror effect and before there were caps on AOE targets. But what I remember fondly, was when people messed up and attempted to join the tank in close range. There were so many caltrop patches over a fairly good area, once you got in range you did not get back out alive without a teleport. Fun times with that rude awakening. Overall I've got to agree, no need for raising aggro caps. While the xp was great, it was abusive and an entirely boring way to play, sitting at the door watching the tanker tank and kill the whole map.

Sad to say, tickets to recipes really isn't the way to go when you get to a certain amount of influence. Used to be, when this first came back, they were a popular way to make cash. Now I wait until near ticket cap, turn them all into rare salvage and sell them along. I only use recipes when I'm crafting, converting, and selling, but that's not very often anymore.

When you think someone is playing their AT "wrong" ...

This is my suspicion as well, coupled with the fact I have used it like that with my spiney friend. Sometimes you vent in other places, so you don't have to on the spot. -
What Other Hobbies Interest You Besides Gaming?
subbacultchas replied to Abraxus's topic in Off-Topic
My kids play softball nearly year round, so I get a lot of that as a forced hobby (not really into sports, but it's my kids). Otherwise, my main hobby is that I read a lot. I mean, really a lot, I've finish over 200 books a year for more than three decades now, not counting comics or audiobooks. -
Thanks folks. I think I'd already decided against Water Spout (the terrorize aspect has no scrapper mitigation). I'd been eyeing Soul Mastery and will probably go with it for Moonbeam/Shadowmeld. But if I end up not caring for those I'll look at Blaze Mastery.
-
Are there any good ones to dip into for a pick or two? I see a lot of folks go power for conserve/physical perfection, but as /bio I think I've got end under control already. I've liked Water Spout on a lot of other characters, but don't know if it would just be silly for scrapper. Suggestions? I'm Titan/Bio and at that level with 1-2 extra power picks left in the build.

I have a Psi/Shield stalker who would actually agree with you. Very fun to play.

I'm going to take some of these suggestions to redo my Plant/Dark/Stone controller tonight, and I'll post the build when I can. I think the research yall did I can incorporate, at least the portions that were agreed upon as having merit. It will probably be a little different than Sir Myshkins build a couple pages back, but that build was to test the functionality of as much procs as possible, and some didn't work out. Plus, I cannot cannot CANNOT have Soul Absorption single slotted, the bonuses from it when frankenslotted for heal/end/recharge are too essential. But I think I can really get a pretty big return from some of the work done on this. I've kept up with the rest of the posts too. My main proc slottings will be Carrion Creepers, Roots, the ST hold, Water Spout, and redoing all of my pets as well. Is there anything obvious that I've missed?

I have only played one thus far, so my input is pretty one-sided. I like Psi Melee quite a bit, especially Greater Psi Blade with the insight mechanic and the stalker ATO that gives hide. It can provide an excellent second hit after AS. I like Mass Levitate a lot too, but I feel like the radius is just not big enough. Overall I'm really pleased with the set, but there's a couple issues I named plus Boggle that I'm not a fan of. Shield I do like from a defensive standpoint, really easy to softcap defenses and build for solid resistances. Shield Charge I like a lot too, but it doesn't crit and that bothers me. I don't know that I'd make a second /shield stalker.

issue 26 Patch Notes for August 27th, 2019
subbacultchas replied to Leandro's topic in Patch Notes Discussion
Thank you for this. I have a friend who was saying that his snipe was broken and now had a huge cast time, and I couldn't figure out what he was seeing. I'll relay this along the pipeline. -

I will mention it to him tonight lol. He will be amused at minimum. I'd offer the same but new 50 alt needs money -

Rad Armor/Spines. I've suggested procs, but he's pretty broke and I can't afford to bankroll a friend like that long term. -

Dude. It is hella-fun to watch, I giggle most of the nights we play. You're watching a twirling whirlwind that just zaps around the room flinging thorns at everything. -

I honestly don't know. He refuses to use Pines so I'm not sure whats in there. I did suggest he use Unbreakable Guard I think from res sets, as the 4th slot gives respectable melee defense, and I think he might have used a couple. He doesn't use the two +def set ios in resist, so I'm really unsure what he's got in any of the other slots. Hopefully not -end, since he's spines/rad and /rad doesn't often need more reduction because of massive +recovery. I think I might just sit down with him Friday night (it's our board game night) and physically look at his slottings. -
When you think someone is playing their AT "wrong" ...
subbacultchas replied to PaxArcana's topic in General Discussion
I don't generally criticize builds. If I have a friend who six slots stamina, I'll point out that they are wasting slots, but let it go with that. If they are having fun, I don't care much. But I've got a friend who I am struggling with right now. He runs a tank where one of his main forms of mitigation, instead of getting his resistances near capped and adding melee defense, is using whirlwind with kb to kd in it. I can live with that, although he will hit a wall with kb resistant mobs smothering him eventually. But he's six slotted his resistances, and six slotted whirlwind and spine burst, and severely underslotted his attacks because he thinks his damage is too low so he might as well not attack. It's killing me keeping quiet on this, because I have to pick up his slack when he's herding groups and just sitting there with whirlwind, spine burst auto, and quills. Thus his aggro gets stolen easily, he dies more often than the rest of the team, and all of us are having to be super active and aware because of his damned near attackless auto build. We've talked about it a lot, but I can't get him to see how it affects others. For him its fun and he can do other things, and I don't think he understands it puts more work on his teammates, and my stalker ends up trying to tank when he invariably goes down. -
I need this so much. Dunno if it's age, or playing on a monitor three times the size I used to have, but I lose my cursor more often than I'd like. Thanks for this.
-
Nah, I understand where you're coming from entirely. In big steamrolling teams you end up using AS midcombat more than the slow version. I've just found one instance where sometimes I don't, but I don't really think it invalidates your overall point. It's slow otherwise, usually to the point of often losing some dps.

I would tend to think no. Back in the olden days, Aid Self was only really used on defense based sets because of the interrupt. Now you can use the Field Medic to eliminate that, but I'm not sure if it's only while Field Medic is active. If so, then you've still got down time where you will attempt to use Aid Self, and fail because all of their hits are landing since you've got a resistance based set. Also I think there's enough heal based IOs, and regen, to make it not a very useful pick in the first place. Do you have Healing Flames slotted as well as you can for healing?
