  1. Except we're not asking them to change the game for us. We're working with what's there, which includes IOs and Incarnate powers, and being able to level up fast and try new "power fantasies". That's the difference between the two sides. If they never introduced another story arc I'd be fine. There are plenty of builds for me level up, IO up, and incarnate up that I would playing this for another 3 years even without any new story based content. Which is why I'm fine with IOs and Incarnates as is. I'm not asking for them to make progression faster or make even more incarnate powers. if they do nice. But there is enough non-storyline content to keep me busy. For ME and many others, the game is creating alts and seeing how far I can push them and rolling over mobs in full teams in random door missions, not playing ancient story lines that I already read 50 times before on live. YMMV
  2. The issue is that many of us are vets who've done the story arcs to death on live. So the fun is trying out new sets and pushing them as far as they can go. If we had a steady flow of content throughout various levels people would probably be more inclined to stop and smell the roses. Unfortunately, that wasn't even the case when we had a full dev team. I don't think it will be the case here. Also the fun of playing a living comic book is the power fantasy. The incarnate system fuels that and makes it possible for folks to do stuff that they can't normally do on the regular set up of the ATs. (Though arguably IOs do that more since they are slot-table for significant value in the 30s and up). I think many folks who like the old traditional playstyle of COH might have to realize that most folks many not be looking for that any longer. And that more folks are who are more into the more slower style of the old days, may have to make some effort to form those types of teams. I'm for more options for that. Like being able to set a team to only take folks with no incarnates (or even no IOs), or setting a cap on how many AOEs, etc etc. More options, not less. EDIT: To be clear this isn't a D&D module where you as team leader is also the Dungeon master setting the limits. You don't know what builds folks will have before they join the team or even if they are full incarnated or just have alpha, or just have IOs. The only way is to tell people ahead of time. Many folks advertise in LFG that they only want this or that on the team or "2 spots left, could use some debuffers". That's fine. (I just like rolling with whatever within reason, but then I know that team is not for me and move on).
  3. Yep. Seems to me there are plenty of folks who would be willing to play with tf options or exemping below the point of incarnate power availability.
  4. ehhhhhh let's be fair, an IO'd to the gills toon IMO is MUCH easier to attain than incarnates. Especially if you farm/play the market. I can do it in less than a week on a new 50. Incarnates, not so much.
  5. A consider the significant end redux, damage boost, recharge, etc that you can get from Alpha important enough on some toons that I see it up there with the utility of those other powers. In some case to me it's more important than those additional powers. But I see your point. (And as I've said I don't think Incarnate powers need any changes at all.)
  6. why? what's the difference between alpha and all the other incarnate powers. They are all incarnate powers earned via trails, threads, astrals emps. This is like trying to have your cake an eat it too. Personally I think the system as is is fine. We just need more content for incarnates to do. And give leaders the option to set teams to no incarnates if that's really needed. (I don't think it is, but more options is more options for everyone.)
  7. Spines has better AOE. I don't consider TW having better AOE with how slow it is compared to spines. I"m not sure you could really get away with using TW for farming over a Spines character, even if both took the Fire secondary. I"m not sure your clear speed would equal spines or Rad. I might be wrong, so if someone has data, let me know. But I don't see a lot of TW farmers out there.
  8. well they could have brought on incarnates earlier possibly. However, that took them forever over many issues to flesh out (and still wasn't complete by time of shutdown). Meh. EDIT: Also to be clear in response to the original OP, NO purples should NOT be removed from the AH. 😛
  9. Okay sure. 🙂 Might be a lot of work but I don't see why not.
  10. /Raises hand . . . guess I'm a nobody also. Also I use the market and converters to avoid builds. I've never farmed on homecoming trying to avoid a build. It's a waste of time when a faster, easier way exists. But the person you're responding to seems to not want to know about actual information and just spit uninformed posts, so I won't even bother trying to direct them to the market form to actually learn something.
  11. Waaaay too soon to judge if prices will stay the same or increase.
  12. You don't have to like inventions. But the fact is the devs at the time could not make content fast enough to keep people paying and playing. Inventions helped with that.
  13. There's also the fact that some folks have the notion in their head that those that farm don't use converters and the market. That's patently false. I know many farmers who do both and contribute IOs to the market. It's not an us vs them, when many of the us are also them, and vice versa. I have no idea where this "grand idea" came from that Marketers and Farmers aren't mostly the same damn people in many instances. It's a silly divide set up in this thread by folks who are simply salty about the exploit fix.
  14. It's clear reading up to this point that many folks don't actually know how the market (And I include converters and that process in that) works, and continue to not want to learn . . . even though there is an entire forum that's dedicated to telling exactly how to make billions on the market and EXACTLY how it does work. You can't help folks who choose to remain uninformed.
  15. Without IOs the game would have died a whole lot sooner. There is no way around that fact. A lot of players hated the SO process of having to replace your enhancements every few levels. IOs completely and radically changed that tedium. The devs needed another wide ranging long term system for players to invest in (and thus continue to pay monthly sub fees) since they could not create actual content (story arcs, tfs, costumes, etc) fast enough. And modern mmos at the time had crafting. It was something COH needed, and it was as simple a crafting system as they could come up with in a superhero game. I'm not sure we would have had as many issues of content of COH as we had before shutdown, if IOs were not created. (I include the AH, purples, procs etc with IOS). Hell we might never have even made it to the Incarnate years.
  16. Nearly forgot about that aspect. That's a good counter point. Maybe as having domination on as a toggle your end would auto refill for ever x seconds or x minutes you have it on. Or it would proc a total refill of your end, or proc an increase of your end of about 50-75%. Or the more control you use while it's toggled on the faster it fills up. Just some ideas.
  17. If Domination were made into a toggle it would be an interesting change. Will it happen, who knows? The Domination bar deteriorates fast enough that it pushed folks to find way to make it perma, when IOs first made it possible to get enough recharge to do so. One other suggestion I've previously seen (not in this thread) is to take all the benefits and move it into the AT's various powers. I"m not sure how feasible that is with the amount of manpower HC has. EDIT: Domination reminds me of Champions Online's mechanic of having to build up END to be able to use your stronger powers. (Even more so than Fury). Which I don't like. Interestingly in that game players find a way around that mechanic also.
  18. Except you're able to get it to the point where it won't deteriorate ever. That's a playstyle I believe the devs are fine with. Fury WILL, unless you are constantly fighting. As has been mentioned by others they specifically try to avoid that deterioration. When I want to play that play style I play a brute and accept there is no way to avoid that deterioration. When I don't I play a Domination and get it to perma-domination. If there was a way to permanently stop Fury from decaying, I'd do that. Also I'd argue that Dominators aren't as bad as the OP was stating outside of domination. EDIT: One could argue that the original devs intent was not for perma domination to ever be possible (aka you should not be able to avoid the building up part of Domination). But that ship has long sailed, and I don't see the HC devs rolling back the ability to perma dom or get high levels of recharge. And I'll state again if domination were a straight up toggle, that would be fine by me. The current suggest is not fine.
  19. If Domination were just a toggle of some sort I'd be fine with that.
  20. Yeah complete tosh. I like dominators. I don't like having to constantly build up domination, which is why I went perma dom. If I'm forced to constantly build it up like Furty, that's a showstopper for me. Not hard to understand unless the reader doesn't want to.
  21. Yeah the more I think of it the more this is a showstopper for me. I've . . . never liked Fury. I just tolerate it cause I like Brutes. And spines/fire. 😄
  22. I've read the whole thread and it's interesting. However, I'm against having the way domination works being converted into the way Brute Fury works. I like that I can build it once, set it and forget it, as long as I remember to click it or have it auto set. Any suggestion that doesn't mess with that I'm down with. Also I would move the mez prot out of domination and into some sort of toggle. But that's just wishful thinking on my part.
  23. I'd simply delete the useless ones.
  24. Stated better and clearer for the umpteemtph time in this thread.
  25. Generation is a problem because it pushes up the cost of items via inflation. Accumulation isn't an issue. I could list all my converted IOs (which I sometimes do) for 5 inf and still make money. The devs have already explained this based on the market data they have access to.
