  1. In all the time I"ve been back since around late April/May I have never seen anyone talk about herding at all. I've seen it done once, but it was just something that sprang up naturally. Also haven't seen folks complain about KB as much as on live. Maybe I've just been lucky to get on really chill teams. Also I've never seen anyone complain about KB on incarnate teams.
  2. Yeah if the command is being exploited I agree with it being removed. And something else being put in place to easily share bases with others. And to make it easier to get to your base, without it being instant.
  3. I'd be fine if they re-used graphics/effects to get Wind out.. I'm not expecting professional level work from a bunch of volunteers.
  4. Agreed. No point to more slots if the content appropriate for that level of power can't be added. And with a volunteer dev team I don't think we're likely to ever see such content added anytime soon. Powersets maybe, but full on TFs and story lines, ehhhhhhhh. . . .
  5. Nevermind, found the answer. LOL https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,4598.msg34806.html#msg34806
  6. Is it true the KB -- KD IO can change the knockback in Bonefire to KD? How well does this work for Doms? Curious minds want to know, ;D
  7. And then there is this. If the AI were actually not mind numbingly stupid there COULD be a greater argument about failing the tf if you don't save them. Let's maybe switch the discussion to fixing the AI first.
  8. I completely agree with Burnt Toast and others and I distinctly remember those discussions and threads with the original devs in various closed and open betas. This HAS NOT been a purely heroic game since the issue that launched villains. That moral standpoint was also diluted with the launch of Going Rogue and the close later launch of being able to directly start on any side, with any AT. If you are making an RP based suggestion (this is to anyone posting them in the future and discussing now) let’s keep that in mind. Another poster said CoX is more appropriate an acronym for what we ended up with when the game shut down. I hard agree. And would bet had the game survived the moral options in TIPS and GR might have seen their way into TFs and SFs anyway. The tech in TIPs and GR was probably the starting point for that. As has been pointed out, unless you plan to change the various SFs to also allow hostages to be killed there as a legitimate mission closure method, then I say the TFs should be left as is.
  9. I am not saying those people didn't exist, but it was accepted by the majority that it was the wrong way to play, and those people were duly ridiculed for doing so. Not to mention, I vividly remember Positron going on a rampage when people started using AE to powerlevel and farm, doling out nerfs and bans like a goddam vengeful deity. The folks at Paragon were very disappointed to see a tool for creativity used as a shortcut. Yeah, powerlevelers and farmers existed, in a minority, and as a sort of grimy underbelly that we mostly ignored and laughed at. It was not THIS bad. Every other character I see is a damned Spines/Fire now. So a portion of the player base didn’t play how you thought they should and you think it was right to ridicule them? How is that the wrong way to play? If that is what people enjoyed, then they were doing it right. I did a good amount of the story and it bored me to death. The story in most games bores me to death. I give it a shot anyway just to see if it will interest me and have yet to enjoy the “proper” way of playing more than my own custom way of playing. What I enjoyed was getting into mid levels to test out as many power combos as I could. The entire group of people I played with on live chose to ignore most story content as they felt it was boring. And instead focused on making alts they enjoyed. These people were not few and far between. You don’t see me ridiculing people who enjoy the story content as lesser players. Doesn’t matter if a dev disagreed with how AE was used. They should have had the foresight to understand that a good portion of most player bases enjoy farming. Content writers shouldn’t think so highly of their work that they can’t accept that some people just don’t enjoy it. The whole attitude that farming is a lesser way, a minority, and worthy of ridicule is asinine. The toxicity that’s group of self appointed fun police is always what has been my absolute least favorite part of this game. Of course that factions survived into HC. The community in this game is pretty awesome and helpful. However, this prejudicial attitude and inability to accept alternative play styles is a black mark on the community. Agreed. Also I am of the opinion that a lot of the lower level content has NOT aged well. It needs to be updated for me to want to run it for the 2221212134 time. Which I don't see happening anytime soon. (The re-writes and updates)
  10. Yeah, powerlevelers and farmers existed, in a minority, and as a sort of grimy underbelly that we mostly ignored and laughed at. It was not THIS bad. Every other character I see is a damned Spines/Fire now. Yes, it was this "bad". (Mind you I don't consider any of what you're stating as bad as you can easily find teams with all the pling messages in LFG. And I DON'T consider DFB or DIB to be pling. Those are trials built by the devs to run as content. That is NOT in the same category as AE, Battle Maiden Farms, etc etc.) You have a very rose tinted sunglasses indeed. Aggro caps were specifically changed because of dumpster diving in the early days of the game. And Winter Lords was a thing. People have always pl'd. And to the extreme. And no I don't remember it being ridiculed at all, as I spent many a time in PI during live. People were also able to find regular lvl 50 teams there for AV runs and door missions when that feature was added. Some of us have VERY different memories about this game when it was on Live.
  11. +1 for this and general make Melee focus great again. :)
  12. Agreed. Also it opens up the door trolls as someone pointed out.
  13. I mean it would work...People who want to do DFB want to connect with others who want to do DFB. If there was a dedicated channel, people would use it. No one is spamming "Lvl 4 Tank, looking for DFB" just to get a rise out of people. They would gravitate to whatever channel successfully gets them a team. I just don't think it's that big a problem that it needs that solution... Agreed.
  14. I'm becoming more and more open to the possibility...I could see making it available only to people who a certain QTY of level 50, or at least one of each AT at lvl 50, or something like that. But if it's just 10M to pop a pill to get to 50 that anyone can grab? Not so much. But my pushback would be that you can experience combinations or situations on the lower levels too. I mean there is more content there than at lvl 50. And that's the fundamental thing with CoX - it was built with the idea that the journey would matter and that life doesn't start at 50. I understand completely if you personally don't like the journey, but a "pop to lvl 50" button gives the impression to everyone that lvl 50 is where it's at. I actually enjoy the story more at level 50 than a lot of the story before then. I actually like what story there is for the Incarnate story line and post the defeat of Emperor Cole. ALOT of the stuff in lower levels I don't find appealing. (Though that may be because of all the un-updated defeat all missions.) EDIT: Plus the fact that I've done the lower levels to DEATH on live, and haven't really done as much in the lvl 50, post 50 range due to the unexpected shutdown years back. (Still sobbing a bit LOL)
  15. I say with without any wish to attack, but I think you shouldn’t have the exact same opinion for the exact same reasons if the genders were reversed. Because this issue - violence against women compared to violence against men - is not equal. Men don’t get murdered for rejecting women to any kind of equivalent level. There is no ‘Men in Fridges’ trope. MCM If they simply swapped the genders or made Lt Page a man would you be fine with the arc? The fact that she's a woman wasn't the point of the arc. The point was that both you (the Arachnos lackey Villian) and the fellow Villain giving the assignment are evil. (And the other guy being patently insane). That's emphasized by the fact that you have the option to outright kill him.
  16. Agree with all he reasoning given as to why the story SHOULDN'T be re-written. This is City of Villains. If you aren't fine with such things (or the later doozies that come up) you should not be on the Villain side. You have the option to go Rogue, Vigilante or Hero. Keep in mind, as has been pointed out, at that point in your Villain career you're still also a lackey of Arachnos. An org that kills folks for simply breathing wrong.
  17. I haven't seen any of that, in fact I've seen exactly the reverse, Rebirth/Reborn//coxg players bashing HC and claiming that it's "just the old SCoRE boys club but on a grander scale" and therefore theirs are better. I could be wrong. Do you have examples? Here's one of the HC mods bashing the others: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,2875.60.html That example to me reads of exactly what he said. Folks twisting whatever Homecoming devs say to fit whatever narrative. Which is the reality. That's not bashing that's just straight facts as to what is happening.
  18. Yes I think that is very fair. The reddit post I linked to and the general attitude outside Homecoming seems to be that because HC doesn't want to devote resources to doing this, that they won't cooperate when it's done. I think a "Hey, if you get it working, we'll think about it" would set a lot of minds at ease. There's a lot of us vs them in this thread that I'm seeing. Why is it that if someone doesn't like Homecoming's policies that they have to be labeled as some kind of hack or tinhat? I left homecoming early over the export issue personally and that's not about politics or drama, it's about character permanence which matters to me a lot more than a big community. Until NSCOFT comes in and says this is all good and we're never eeeeeever (Chris Jericho reference lol) shutting this down again, forget your character permanence and just have fun. I don't care what server you are on, right now we are all able to play because NCSOFT has not yet decided this is a problem. IF they ever do it won't matter what server you're on. I'm mean you'll have a nice backup of your character (when/if each of the servers implement that feature) sitting somewhere in data/1s and 0s form. . . and that's about it.
  19. I haven't seen any of that, in fact I've seen exactly the reverse, Rebirth/Reborn//coxg players bashing HC and claiming that it's "just the old SCoRE boys club but on a grander scale" and therefore theirs are better. Pretty much this. I've seen the others bashing Homecoming. Not the other way around.
  20. One other suggestion is maybe more content for lower levels (more paths from 1-20) so that we don't have to do Frost Fire for the 1121212121th time. And maybe this should be one of the constant updates. But that will require the Homecoming team having the bandwidth to create new content, and I don't think they are quite there yet.
  21. That’s actually the root issue. The “everyone needs to play what I want and how I want” players and posters really are struggling with interpersonal relationships in the virtual world. They believe that they should be able to log in and immediately have a bunch of people willing to play with them, doing the content they want to do and performing it the way they want them to as well. In short, the world revolves around them in their mind and it’s very disappointing to learn that they can’t force all other players to conform to their wishes. Thus they insist the developers force their will on the rest of us. The real issue is self-centeredness. Not leveling speed/rewards/powers/whatever. I think self-centeredness is the focus for most MMORPG players. It's not necessarily a bad thing. Let me be transparent - I don't play DFB, and I don't PL - I enjoy the grind. It's a badge of honor for me, but I don't expect it to be so for anyone else. I also don't think we should try to stop PL'ing - it's a reality that's going to be in the game no matter what. When it affects other players - then we should discuss. I don't support nerfing or changing DFB at this point - not where I would want developers to spend their time. Back to self-centeredness - for every player on this board advocating against DFB, I'm sure I can find a similar number of players complaining about AE XP being nerfed, or Vanguard Merits, or what not. And some of those AE folks don't seem to care about the server issues it causes - they just want their XP, the heck if makes the game unplayable for everyone else. Pretty self-centered. RP'er's play to role play and advocate for the name change policy to support time spent in toon, not the level, PVP'ers advocate for PVP changes and things that encourage PVP, PL'ers advocate for things that let them PL faster, Min/Max advocate for power changes that make them more uber, and grinders' like me advocate for more content driven changes. It's a game - we don't play it to be selfless, we play it to be self-centered. We aren't here to actually save the world. As for people "insisting" the developers do things - I haven't seen that behavior in the OP. It was a request. It wasn't "do it my way or I'm leaving". Not really clear why so many requests on this board that are made turn into people projecting that OP is demanding something of everyone else. It's a request...right, wrong or indifferent, it was just a request. Don't like - say so, love it - give it a plus one. But tell the OP they they are selfish, or demanding, or insisting, or hating unless that's what they are actually saying. Finally - It can be hard for people to team up. Again, we are all self-centered, we all want to find a group that plays the way we do. I was asking for people to team with me last night to help with my missions - no takers. Someone finally took pity on me I think and invited me to a group that was way overpowered for their missions and I was pretty useless. 90% of the damage was done in the first 10 seconds, and the remaining 10% in the next 10 seconds. It's not how I play. I thanked them (they weren't rude, in fact they were very nice) and went on my way. After asking 3 other people thru tells if they wanted to play, I got tired and gave up. Did I take initiative? Yes I did...How did I feel? Frustrated (though not at any person, just in general), and a just a little rejected. I don't take it personally, no one was rejecting me as a person, but it's still not a very happy ending to the story. So please don't tell people that it's all in their heads if they can't get a team they like. And you DFB players would be very disappointed if no one wanted to play DFB teams - so it's easy to cast stones on others because you've already got all the people teaming for DFB that you could want... See the thing is, you're not going to get the exact team you like at any time of the day at any time. The line of "your experience is subject to change" that had been used for years when developers describe their mmos is factual. Sometimes the teaming will be fast and sometimes it will be slow. That's just the reality. That does not mean there is anything wrong with the content that folks are doing at that particular time that you don't want to do. I think folks are just frustrated with being told constantly that their way is not the right way to play, just because they choose not to be available to play with everyone 24/7. MMO or MMORPG means you will be around players 24/7. It does not mean that all of them, or even some of them, or even a fraction of them will want to team with you.
  22. Sigh. Do you know how to make friends? If so, make your own team to do what you want them to do. Unless everyone gets sick of you trying to force them to do ONLY what YOU want to do. In which case I think we have identified the real issue here. There’s so many of your type on these boards. Just like in the old Live instance of this game. And the devs will listen to you because they, in general, want you to play the way THEY coded the game to work. They don’t like it, and take it personally, when we find ways to avoid doing it JUST the way they wanted us to. It was this mentality that led to a never ending path of nerfs in the old game, to appease their creative egos and now its yours, and other players like you, who are destined to try and enforce your views on everyone else. Go play how you want. I will do likewise. You won’t see me mounting a campaign to FORBID everyone from trying to play the game the way they want it to be played. Because I enjoy all of it and consider this a sandbox, not a game experience on rails that can only be played the way you want it to be played. I hope selfish attitudes like this don’t ruin this game the way it did the first time. Agreed. What a lot of folks don’t get is this: 1. A lot of vets have done the sub level 20 stories to death. They are not going to do them again. If DFB is needed they will just move onto the next thing that lets them skip the first boring 20 levels. So folks who incapable of forming their own teams (which I find ridiculous) still won’t have them in the pool of people to team with. 2. Some folks are like me: We get to 50, IO out and the. Go back and use Ouroboros or do the lower level refs at 50. You’re not going to be teaming with these folks ever. Also complaining about it taking 15 minutes to find a team is a joke when you have the ability to form your own team at anytime. Here’s a hint: the folks doing dfb would never have teamed with you in the first place.
  23. I prefer it this way, I don't have the time to do trials countless times to grind out abilities. If you don't like it, then do the trials a bunch before you acquire any abilities and it'll take you just as long as it used to! Stop complaining that other people aren't grinding as much as you think they should. And let's stop pretending grinding in a game to get rewards is some sort of accomplishment or great feat, it's not. It's simply grinding and it's not a notable accomplishment in any way and it's nothing to feel special about. It's simply grinding. If you enjoy it, cool, then do it. Agreed. Again if anyone wants the grind then they can do so, or they can find one of the i24 servers. They are not a secret where to find them. The installation guide clearly has addresses for them.
