Third Class ATOs: GAME CHANGERS!
golstat2003 replied to VileTerror's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
LOOOOOOL! I'd like to see the comments the first time a Dominator would do this. 😁 -
The last category (unless I missed a post) is this: AH OverlordsApproximate Income: 500-??? million inf per hourThese are the people who use the very simple concept of buying low and selling high. They put in far less effort than AE farmers while making massively more inf. At this point inf becomes simply an abstract concept with no practical meaning. ----------- I was referring actually to folks like me. Who don't do ANY of the above as the primary source of inf. What I do is the Enhancement conversion method of crafting some low level set IOs (or outright buying the low level enhancement), convert it until it's a rare then sell it. (usually just for 1 inf to get whatever I want as fast as I want, or slightly less than what the lowest last bid was). Where do I get the converters from? Not from the market, by simply doing the content: hami raids (both heroic and villian side), tfs/sfs, rwz raids, conversion from emp merits, etc. I also in set convert when I get something that's rare in a set, into something that's more rare. Ex: Get a regular defense set IO, convert until I get a rare LOTG defense, then in set convert that into the LOTG Defense/Recharge one that everyone slots into multiple defense-taking powers. I've literally been able to max IO several builds over months doing the above. I didn't see that category listed, unless I misunderstood one of the original options. I learned the above by reading guides in the market section of the forums. My point is: If you take the time to read some of the guides (few minutes read) you can pretty much learn how to make enough inf to EASILY move yourself into any of the categories the OP posted, including making enough inf to CREATE a farming character or two. (Which I was also able to do using the info on the forums, which I was directed to by talking to folks in the Help channel in game). Making inf is not hard, there is no inf inequality when literally ANYONE can do what I just described. As others have pointed out if you choose to not take the time to use the info folks have gathered -- some from years ago when the game was live -- that's our choice. The game runs fine on SOs. But bottom line is, it's a choice.
-
That is true. However, if you ask about how to make inf, in the in game Help channel, it won't take long to get all the info you need. Or someone pointing you to a guide. Or telling you what to do in private messages. Would be nice if there was some way to keep all of that info up to date in game. I'm not sure HC has the manpower to do that if Paragon didn't.
-
I just don't see the value in the suggestion versus all the other things that have been suggested that would take powers, testing and implementation time. Doesn't mean it's a bad one. If this were still a live paid mmo, sure. To be fair you did put "wishful thinking" in the title. To be clear, suggestions that basically re-write parts of the game, I never found to be all that compelling. Suggests for further powersets, ATs, storylines, incarnate powers . . . sure.
-
Although I wouldn't care if the tank or other person gets the invite, (whoever is faster on messaging me gets it regardless of AT) I too distinctly remember tanks telling the team to "wait while I gather". Less so by the time of Incarnates, but it was definitely a thing. Even in the IO years before incarnates.

Was not meant as emotional. It was meant as a fact. They have limited time to work on this as volunteers. It is not their primary profession. So every choice they make to work on something for Homecoming is an opportunity cost to not be able to work on something else. So when I say I would rather they work on something else, I literally mean that in terms that this suggestion we're discussing should never be a priority, IMO. The amount of time this would take for very limited return on investment, would knock the time out for other more important requests and suggestions. Just like every other suggestion, others are allowed to point that out.

@golstat2003 Try and get a laugh out of the forum baptism you're gonna get. Please re-look at your quotes and the original posts. I never said that. The person I quoted did.

Brutes are fine.

Pretty much been doing nothing but converting enh and selling, and building up some old lvl 50s with purples. Made about 876 million this week which promptly went into purple out 2 toons (one a warshade lol) and a complete build for another.
-
You're missing a category that is almost no effort if you know what to do. To be blunt, you need to go to the market forums and read some guides.
-
They released stuff that was untested. Full stop. As someone who has worked in QA for 10 years it's pretty damn obvious. Characters being made invalid multiple f%#&ing times is the first thing that should have been caught if they are giving adequate time for testing. They aren't. If I were playing on that server with any regularity I would be annoyed. Thankfully each server is allowed to run their setup how they want. And again, bottom line, their example of how they are running it, is why MANY folks prefer HC's slow and steady approach.
-
The bottom line is that characters have had to wiped multiple times on We Have Cake. That's not anyone making that up. Just go on their discord and it becomes obvious to anyone paying attention or you know, reading, that they've had issues. That to me does not sound like they have been doing proper testing when characters are marked as invalid multiple times or can crash areas of the game.
-
And this is why I'm good with the slower pace of Homecoming.
-
Yeah no. Keep the aggro cap the way it is. EDIT: If folks miss the days of an unlimited aggro cap, there are other servers/flavors of COH that have that out there.

Will we ever see the new things that Cake is getting?

Stability is more important for me also. If sharing means HC's servers go to crap and we start getting invalid characters like is currently happening on one of the other servers, no thanks.- 122 replies

The "devs" (let's be real, all of them are unpaid volunteers who have real life jobs) on each server have their priorities. And they are allowed to as unpaid developers. Homecoming has it's priorities and other servers have theirs. I prefer HC, especially with the issue of 64 bit vs 32 bit rearing it's head in the immediate future. YMMV.- 122 replies

I prefer Homecoming's approach, and I like the iTrials. So population matters to me. I wish We have Cake luck, but it might be more prudent to do proper testing of things, especially with the spaghetti code that is COH.- 122 replies

500 K is not a lot for salvage. Please read some of the guides on how to make influence on the current market, try some of the techniques and you'll see it's not a lot at all.

Well yeah, that part is kind of obvious. NCSoft never authorized anyone to run COH. So anyone running one is not legitimate. EDIT: With that said I'm glad the code got out there and if any of the servers go down (including HC) the COH bottle is out in the wild. Maybe not a version that has things like customizable PA, but definitely a version that folks can run themselves. Ultimately the best thing would be if the negotiations go well and some legitimacy happens. Which is why I like the approach that HC is taking.- 122 replies

They already said more than once that the agrro cap isn't on the ATs, and thus tanks could not have a different aggro cap than everyone else, or did I misunderstand them the multiple times they said it?
