Yep, I should also point out that there were some updates to Council that never saw the light of day out of beta because some players pointed them out. EDIT: Amazingly I posted the above before reading any of the stuff others posted earlier lol Glad other folks have a better memory from beta testing than me. 😁

Correct. Just pointing out that the person who I was responding to has so misconceptions about testing.
-
There is no leveling or time or effort on the beta server. There are insta levels (even to a specific level if needed), IOs (all IOs available), etc on test. And there are settings where you can insta kills mobs or insta complete missions as part of testing there.

A slow snipe IO is a great idea. 🙂
-
I would not mind this as an OPTION also.
-
Hami needs instanced only for the reasons raid leaders stated in the other thread. And no MSR does not need to be instanced only.
-
Tedious is the right word . . . for solo. For teams I think it's fine as it always was.
-
Actually this sounds like an issue with MMs. They are more susceptible to hard and soft controls of all types. Hopefully the devs do something about this eventually. (thought I read something about an eventual MM revamp in the future).

Homecoming has an obligation to a limited extent. They survive on donations, even before the license. In the extreme mid they didn’t get enough donations, (aka hypothetical players get angry and 75 to 80 percent of us leave) they might have to take two servers completely offline. Whatever lead to this might probably lead to them losing the license, which would be insane to think they would want any such thing after spending two years + trying to get the license in the first place. Also not saying anything of the sort would happen. I have not seen any major changes they have done that would lead to the hypothetical above. On the contrary, players seem to general like the direction this server is going. (See the servers being yellow and one red night after night after night). Unless we assume 75 to 80 percent of the player base like to hurt themselves, there must be a reason they keep logging in. On a more philosophical level the HC devs are volunteers who do this because they love the game and the community. So they do indeed make changes when well thought out arguments are made. Some have pointed some out in this thread. Folks just have to realize not every suggestion we make has to be implemented. If they implemented even half of the suggestions in the Suggestions and Feedback forum or that come up during the betas, this game would be a confusing inconsistent mess. Players often make contradicting suggestions at the same time. It’s up to a dev team (paid or not) to be able to discern which mesh with the vision of the game they are shooting for.

Whether during beta or after something goes live folks can give feedback and there are avenues for that. It does not at all mean the devs have to change anything. EDIT: There have been numerous changes made that I simply do not like (even more currencies, some of the changes made to original groups, some of the armor type changes and the changes to how Emps could be converted). And there have been some I love: like getting some powers earlier. Not every change, every player will like. And that was true on live also. That is fine. In an mmo it is not possible to please 100 % of the players 100 % of the time.

Off off off (lol) topic, but wasn’t the whole incarnate backstory something that pissed of a lot of players back in the day? I seem to remember folks not liking the “all powers in the COH universe as somewhat having a mystical origin” background surrounding it. Personally I think the incarnates story is fascinating. Especially in the one mission where we are fully over powered up and Oroborus is pretty much wrecked and Hami is running amoke. Makes one wonder what in the possible future is insane enough that leads to Paragon’s universe ending up like that and your character being that crazy overpowered. Can’t just be Battalion. lol
-
Having not watched or read anything about that character, that sounds absolutely fascinating for a super hero. I will check out his stories now! lol

Cake / New Dawn is also another out there. What is that one like? Imagine if City of Heroes had gone the CO route to the extreme and then blew past the free form system over there. Add in a mix of various classic ATs (classic as in archetypes of various famous comic book heroes/villans) and you have Cake. Be warned though that it is a very very population light server during the day time (with there often only being max 5-10 people on at a time). Also it has various sandbox aspects. Imagine our test server on all the time but turned to 11. lol

For me the bolder also. As long as it’s something you have to turn on, I have no issue. -

For reasons already stated I too would not like this -
Yeah I was going to say the respec and slotting system is not easy to mess with code wise. I will say I know of one other COH Server (I believe it was Cake) that managed to allow you to have more slots as you level. But the coding to try fix the respec system to be more able to do stuff like move slots around or make respecs easier, was a non starter.

The solution is to run with smaller teams. It’s easier to find 1-2 folks who may want to do those harder missions and even AE 801s than it is to find 7 others. I never understood the obsession with team leaders who think the team must always be 8 players all the time. I actually really love team leaders who get us up to 4 or 5 and say “let’s go, we can recruit on the way” and put the mission up soon after joining the team. Saves everyone time.

This is probably the most hilarious aspect of them. Dude is strapped for cash LOL
-
Disagree. In pretty much every PuG I’ve be on in the 50s no one bothers with anything than just doing more damage. If the changes goal was to make teams think more or use more tactics like control versus Council, then they failed in that regard. As mr and many others mentioned (including yourself) teams still steam roll them. The Council are sure as heck NOT much more harder for TEAMS. It just takes a bit longer than before to clear them out with all the rolling super damage incarnated level 50s bring. So mostly more tedious to deal with Council. But not nearly as bad as CoT or Arachnos as you mentioned. Solo Players will and do have a tougher time though with Council. Which was the point lol
-
Plus you can turn down the difficulty to make them chumps they used to be lol I actually do that anytime I don’t want to deal with any nonsense while playing. Would be nice if the setting made some of the key bosses in the things like the Patron Arc easier. I would not mind a new -1 setting just for that. (I’d also like a higher setting on the opposite end, that added some of the HM stuff into newspapers. But that would be a miracle long term pipe dream, that I don’t see the devs being able to do until like 2034 lol)
-
That’s cause we know their schtick. For most of my characters when they see certain Malta Mobs, it’s target first, ask questions later, let <Diety> sort out the bodies later, “on sight” as the kids say. 😛 The Carnies and Arachnos in mass numbers I still find deadly as hell at high levels.

Thanks for this! I should also point out that Homecoming team also allows anyone to sign up for Closed Beta. And the Testers Discord. There are really no barriers from what I see to getting in to look at and discuss future changes to City of Heroes Homecoming. Just a willingness to help test, be a good citizen there, and not leak anything they are working on. There is no excuse for anyone who wants to look at future changes ahead of time and give feedback on them in the Discord, to do so.
