Homecoming Screenshots Thread
Coyotedancer replied to Midnight Blue Mage's topic in Art & Multimedia
Here's a fun one... Middle CoyoteNephew (aka "We are the Champions") is proud. He's been having way too much fun sliding around on that ski slope. 😄 -
Not everyone enjoys MIDS-tinkering or spending hours that they COULD use instead to actually, you know, *play the game* pouring over the gory details of build-theory.

Should the mysterious Voltaic Sentinel be less mysterioius?
Coyotedancer replied to cohRock's topic in General Discussion
This is one of those "Spreadsheet vs Reality"-situations, I'd say. On paper it looks like the thing should be just fine, but- It's cute as a conceptual thing, but not what I'd call a great power pick. I'm apparently not alone in thinking that, since it keeps being brought up as needing SOME kind of attention. ETA: How about at least giving it a movement speed increase, so it doesn't spend most of its active duration drifting down the hall trying to keep up with its owner? 😝 -

While that may be technically true, the thing isn't exactly a damage powerhouse to start with. -

I'd rather it be a toggle, honestly, or at least have a longer up-time. Constantly having to resummon the thing is a bother. (I only have one character who took the power, and a solid two-thirds of the time I either forget to resummon it, or just decide that it adds so little that it isn't worth the bother.) -
I farm, too, Arcane.... And I still think 200-to-1 would be beyond ridiculous. Personally, this wouldn't be particularly useful for my own farmers,.. They're both on a secondary account, I have no plans to make any non-farmers on that account and since emps can't be transferred between accounts any threads I bothered to convert from Sunni or Harry would just sit there every bit as unused as the threads they have now. No. I want to use this with Kai and Semnai and Tavaris and the rest of the frequently-played, non-farming 50s on my main account. They all have piles of threads picked up after their own iToys were complete. None of them have the number of threads my farmers do, but it would still be nice to be able to turn what they do have into emps for other alts. (And yes, I'd also *LOVE* to be able to transfer spare iBits from one character to another. Getting their T4s resulted in a huge pile of useless components for a few of them. It would be useful to be able to send, say, a couple of uncommons over to another alt who's had no luck getting anything but commons-)

50 to 1? Sure. That makes sense. 200 to 1... not so much.

Opinons on the funnest build to level the old fashion way
Coyotedancer replied to I-Dirty's topic in General Discussion
Bio works pretty well on Sents... I have a Dark/Bio that's great fun. Tavaris is slower than proverbial Christmas when it comes to clearing maps, but bein gin his way is a little like being in the path of a glacier. There's not a thing the goons can really do to stop him. 😝 -

Stalkers are my favorite AT to go Old School soloing with, but I also had a lot of fun doing that with a Street/Shield Scrapper awhile back. I also did it with a DP/Energy Sentinel last year, and that had its moments, too. -
Why make the conversion rate so wastefully bad? Placating those people who think we should still be running iTrials until our eyes bleed would probably be necessary, sadly, but I say don't give them any more ground than we have to.

The Saint Martial "Jackpot" neighborhood music has been on my favorite 'Background Noise' playlist for years.

Lack of RP conflict between heroes and villains?
Coyotedancer replied to Oginth's topic in Roleplaying
Sometimes these discussions are an excellent reminder of exactly why I don't do "serious" roleplay in the City anymore... -
Lack of RP conflict between heroes and villains?
Coyotedancer replied to Oginth's topic in Roleplaying
Well, I'm also the one who argues for maybe NOT having an entire civilization made up of nothing but cookie-cutter Absolute Evil-types out to turn everyone's souls into demon-chow, so it's all a matter of perspective. (See the head-canon thread if you're curious about my Circle characters' attitudes and the particular spin on Oranbegan culture I've ended up with as a result. I may tie my characters to game lore, but I refuse to be a complete slave to it.) -
Lack of RP conflict between heroes and villains?
Coyotedancer replied to Oginth's topic in Roleplaying
As the one who's usually playing a rogue... I like it when my "villain"-types actually have a point. It doesn't need to be a point that their opposition necessarily recognizes, but for my own character-building and motive-defining purposes I do find it useful to have. Looking at my Oranbegans as an example, a lot of them are out-and-about the surface world for a *reason*. They're trying to find and reclaim what they see as their rightful property... You know, all of those books, and artifacts and arcane what-nots that the so-called "heroes" have barged into their city and stolen over the years? Things like that last-remaining-copy-on-Primal-Earth Tome of Persephone that Person Man and his buddies in the League of Brightness needed to save the world a week ago. Or that artifact they forced their way into the Temple vaults to take yesterday, beating up the head archivist, his entire staff and four dozen guard-demons without so much as a "Hey, would you guys mind if maybe we borrowed that? We could give you back the Tome of Persephone in exchange". The heroes might not see what they're doing as the result of a legitimate gripe,,, But as far as they're concerned, it's a justified issue that needs to be addressed. With a truly excessive number of tentacles if necessary. -

I also came from Liberty, so never got involved with the VirtueVerse site or that server's players. By and large, I still don't interact with the people in those circles. They've never seemed particularly open to those who weren't part of their original set. I do have a character list here, but to be honest it's more for my own amusement than anything else. I suspect I may be the only one who's ever looked at it beyond the first post. I'm not a huge fan of Discord, and only use it for voice-chat when I'm playing the game with my nephews. I don't post "want ads". I'm not that desperate for someone to talk to. 😝

Is farming an imbalanced method of earning ingame rewards?
Coyotedancer replied to macskull's topic in General Discussion
I'm tired of beating this dead horse... I really, really am. It's not even horse-shaped anymore! At this point there's nothing left but a vaguely equine-shaped puddle of goo. If people still want to pontificate endlessly about how horrible farmers are and how we're just murdering "their" game? Okay, Have at it. Everyone's entitled to their option. But I'm done talking about it. That's proven to be about as useful as punching a brick wall. <_< -

A clueless, power-leveled n00b is going to be a clueless, power-leveled n00b rather they got to 50 by door-sitting on a farm map or being side-kicked into a dozen taskforces they don't understand or hauled along on a day of PI Council scanner missions. The "AE Baby" issue has never really been limited to AE. -
They can be annoying at low levels... but if you don't just Leeroy into a group without picking your targets they're not so bad. Madness Mages popping up before anyone has mez protection are worse. Learning to keep a few breakfrees handy whenever some mean contact sent me into Perez was a lesson picked up the hard way. 😝

It's the pearl-clutching about how we farmers are just *ruining* teaming that really makes me face-palm... Miss M's head might actually explode if they knew just how many of us in the City prefer to solo, or to run with duo/trio small teams instead of joining their 8-player task force slog-fests. The idea that everyone would just flock to some wonderland of easy teams and instant leagues if only those terrible, terrible farmers were all forced to change their Evil Ways is... well, pretty misguided, to put it kindly.
