  1. I could see Kai or Ajda dropping by for something like that. They're both Paragon U students.
  2. If you want to get strict about it, just playing a defunct game on a private server without the legal owners' consent runs us afoul of all kinds of copyright law... So, yeah. By agreeing to the terms of service and playing the game, we're breaking the terms of service. 😆
  3. My Claws/Fire Stalker was sort of a pain in the rump to level. He was a "unicorn" character, though, so I expected there to be a REASON no one else had made one at the time. 😆
  4. Go for it. I'm not great at putting suggestions into really useful forms.
  5. I disagree. The Don't-Wannas are just going about their own business, playing the game. They aren't the ones doing the broadcasting or intentionally mugging for the proverbial camera. The streamer is the active agent here. The game supposedly being seen as "public space" doesn't change that.
  6. I've seen farmers accused if a lot of things over the years, but I think that may be the first time I've ever seen us described like Evil Creepers offering free candy to sweet, innocent little noobs just to lure them to their eternal doom in our wicked, wicked AE farms. How terribly Gothic. (In the literary sense, not that bats-and-eyeliner business. 😄 )
  7. I'd say the responsibility of notification is more on the Streamers, personally, rather than the "I don't wanna be in your movie"-types. The Streamers are the ones actively doing something that others may not be comfortable with. They're potentially being intrusive, so it seems fair that they should also be the ones who have the small responsibility of making their activities a little more easily avoidable.
  8. Hmm.... Just an idea out of left field here, but how about another "toggle title" type of thing for Streamers, sort of like the "Roleplaying" one we already have in-game? Toggle the brightly colored "Streaming" title over your character's head when you start your stream and everyone who can see you will know they're on Candid Camera. Turn it back off when you're done and that's that. Granted that would rely on streamers being polite enough to actually remember they have it and then USE the thing, but it might be better than nothing, and certainly easier for them than having to tell every single team they run with over the course of that session that the stream is Live.
  9. Teaching the CoyoteNephews and their mom (Who started out a few months ago as total City N00bs-) to play the game.
  10. Go Rogue... Then you can hang around under the statue in Atlas Park, making all the goodie-goodie hero-types nervous.
  11. Put me in the "concept" camp as well... That's why so many of mine have the Demons (and why I'd love to see a Circle Mages counterpart set made at some point-). If I don;t have a firm conceptual reason for making a choice, I tend to go with Polars (They're the most unobtrusive), full Core Storm Elementals (No hurricane-) or the Knives or Talons (They're stylish-).
  12. Sentinels solo well and are mostly-ranged, so they might just be what you're looking for. Some of the serious power-player types who only want to run THE BEST of whatever they're after seem to really dislike Sents, and in all fairness some of their damage sets really are better-done than others, but in general play? They actually handle pretty well. It's a very forgiving AT for new players learning their way around the game, too, I think. My own favorite AT to solo are Stalkers, but you said you wanted to avoid melee, so they're probably not the direction you want to go, OP.
  13. Once upon a time, you could. For "reasons" that was changed some time ago.
  14. I just can't stand the low-level game anymore... After this long, I'm so completely burned out on the blue-side lowbie arcs in particular that I'd rather never build another alt than have to go through them again. Frostfire can HAVE the Hollows. Archanos can have Atlas Park. I don't care anymore. I haven't quite hit that point of no return yet with red-side or gold-side lowbies, but it will eventually happen. I have no doubts about that. At the same time, our limited selection of iTrials and running with 50+ PI smash teams can also get really, really old after you've done it a few thousand times... My solution has been to either exemplar with mid-level teams, or run higher level solo/duo or with a three or four member small-team instead of a full 8-member cyclone. Will that also eventually get old? Maybe. It's certainly possible. But for anyone who's looking for a "change of pace", I'd say give it a try. Worst case? It may be time to take a break from the game for awhile, just to recharge. There's no sin in wandering off for a bit to play around elsewhere or even (*gasp* *horror*) spend some time tinkering with an offline hobby.
  15. Just going to point out a few things here that people seem to have overlooked... or never knew in the first place. 1) XP rates in AE have *already* been nerfed. They were halved very early on. You have to use a 2XP buff to get the same rewards we originally had for AE mobs. 2) Using a 2XP buff in AE, just like using one anywhere else in the game, means you get NO INF REWARDS AT ALL. Zero Influence, Infamy or Information. Zip, zilch, nada. No matter how much time you're in there, if that booster is running you won't get even one INF. 3) Fortunes aren't made farming. INF generation has also been nerfed to the point that only constantly-running AFK farmers really make much in the way of serious bank. Fortunes are usually made in the auction house these days.
  16. Eh. Not all of us who farm do it strictly for the OMGLOOTZ. Some of us really do farm for fun... And so you're not likely to get rid of us just by making an Insta-50 token or a "high-levels only" kind of server.
  17. BESM is Big Eyes, Small Mouth. The original anime-emulator game that used the system. It's an older, "mid-weight", semi-narrative thing. I get what you're saying here, but... damn people. Can we maybe NOT read the entire whole world as a sex joke? (And keep in mind I'm saying this as someone who collects BJDs. You can probably imagine how many times I've had to eyeroll over people jumping straight to "OMGSEXDOLLS" with *that* acronym. People's minds going straight into the gutter has seriously jumped a whole lot'ta sharks. 😝)
  18. Back in the day, good old "Big Blue Book" Champions or the older Marvel Heroes box were my game crew's go-to for Supers... More recently, I've tinkered around with Tiny Supers, which is sort of at the exact opposite end of the crunch-scale from Champions, Mutants & Masterminds and GURPS Supers. I have Rotted Capes (YEah. I'm fond of the "Ex" series-), but have never gotten around to doing anything with it. My favorite is Silver Age Sentinels. It uses a spin on the BESM system, which is fairly easy to learn and run or play, while still giving you some of the powers customization that made Champions so much fun from a character-building perspective. Also, the combats don't take twelve hours to resolve. 😅
  19. It works best with a small group based on the way my university crew played the old FASA version... One or two time lord characters plus a couple of companions at most. In that version's actual game system there wasn't as much difference playability-wise between the characters as you might think. The best run I can remember being personally involved with was a trio game... One GM and two players. If you remember the older series' at all, for we two players it was a very Doctor-and-Leela kind of thing. It worked surprisingly well.
  20. That's why you get everyone involved to do their PvP with level 1 Peacebringers. No. I'm not kidding. Seriously. Stop snickering.... The only PvP I've ever actually enjoyed in this game was way, way back in the Live days. Someone on Virtue (I wish I could remember who, but I've long since forgotten their name-) put together an event that was designed to have everyone on relatively even ground, to avoid exactly that "Geared pros insta-gank the n00bs"-issue. Level-locked level 1 Peacebringers. Training Os only. It was ridiculous. It was about fifty shades of silly. And it really did seem to be a tremendous amount of fun for everyone involved, rather they were used to PvP or not. If there were more ways to put together things like that? Maybe it would encourage more people to get fighty in general. ... and it would give me an excuse to rebuild Fluff Bunny. 😄
  21. It would be a tough thing for the HC devs to do... They would basically have to maintain and update two completely different branches of the game, which just isn't practical with a small, all-volunteer staff. That said, the game's code is out in the wild and other server groups are A Thing. If someone decided to take on building and running a version of the City like that, they would probably find interested players. Maybe not a huge number, I suspect... But some.
  22. I like this answer and hereby adopt it. (I ❤️ David Bowie)
