DPS/DPA is an absolute measure of effectiveness of a power, but ‘efficacy’ isn’t exactly the same thing. I think you nailed it with the ‘follows me to next spawn’ perception. Water Spout, like Tornado, is mostly a fire-and-forget power. It does it’s thing tearing up targets and just keeps doing it until you have to recast it. Most of your other powers require a bit more effort to bring some pain. Sleet is great unless that group over yonder says “Hey lookit all our buddies getting ripped up, mebbe we should go investigate?” And they start firing Ranged attacks laughing at your sleet. No problem…..there goes your Water Spout over to say hi to them, welcoming them to party. And you did absolutely nothing. Pets are pets and I always find them, even the less powerful ones (howdy Gremlins!) to be nice little emotional support buddies who do their thing without me needing to manage them. Very different than playing an MM where they will literally sit there stupidly in BG mode waiting for something to throw a rock at me unless I command them to be aggressive. Water Spout? She’s -always- aggressive.

Another true story. I went on a ‘binge’ powerfarming once I discovered AFK farming. So day after day I was making alts. I see a build that looks interesting, I make an alt out of it. So many that I start to lose track of them because I’m parking them on different servers so as to not mess up the order of my ‘actives’ list of 40-50 alts. Most are unleveled/unslotted and it’s an effort to level up, slot and IO out a toon all at once. Easily an hour or so depending on market availability, how many converters I have to burn, etc. I also prefer to have a bio and a name that matches. Anyhoo, maybe 200-250 alts all-in parked in the ‘library’ waiting to be rolled out and played. Across three accounts. I seldom powerfarm to 50, typically in the 36-38 range instead because I actually like to play the later levels, TF’s and such. Having both T9’s active makes for well rounded character. So for me it’s about an hour per alt, or sometimes as many as 3-4 alts in an evening/morning of playing actively on my main account while afk farmer on account 2 builds me a new alt on account 3, etc. I think it’s because I spent a lot of time between Live and Homecoming continuing to “theorycraft” new builds in Mids. I really didn’t like the IO system at first, felt as if it was an absolute money grab and I felt it ‘cheapened’ the superhero feeling. I actually liked doing my SO missions once upon a time to get a seller to sell me what I needed to feel stronger/faster/better. Maybe they just didn’t click for me for whatever reason but once they did it became a bit of an obsession to min/max what is really a fairly easy game. It became the game within the game. Thus…..having freedom to have as many alts as I can, and outfit them so relatively easily/cheaply this time around….I’ve gone a bit overboard. I do like Snarky’s original comment. My first farmer on Homecoming was a Fire/Kin controller as I knew it could farm easily on just SO’s, and at the time of launch, I didn’t know what the economic climate would look like for IO’s etc. That farmer created my first Spines/Fire brute on my second account. Then I created a Rad/Fire by self-PL back on my first account. Honestly, it’s so easy to do I just keep that thread bookmarked and copy/paste it into Local chat anytime I’m in AE powerfarming an alt and someone asks me to be a sitter. Teach them how to light themselves on fires.

Got around to fixing the /buildsave. Here's the final version of my Demon/Storm MM with much assistance from @Maxzero and others who have posted builds before. Couple of notes: -Makes heavy use of Enh boosters to get native S/L Defense over softcap. In reality, once you take your Hybrid Support, you'll find you really don't need these. Likewise, if money is an issue for you, you can grab easy +DEF boost to everything by just grabbing a Combat Defense Amplifier. I've done the math and it's actually a little cheaper to go the Combat Defense Multiplier, although some people think of that as a "cheat." If you don't, look at both options. Also don't forget your Demons will throw you an Ember Shield which helps your Resistance. You can use the Mids Reborn app to look at how various Pet powers impact your stats. -Endurance management, as I've said with all stormies, is really brutal until you get Ageless. You'll be taking Musculature so won't get a lot of help for END bar until Destiny Ageless. But once you get that....you are a meat grinder. Otherwise, S/L defcapped, crazy high recharge + Burnout for all stormy chaos you'd ever want, all storm powers are driving +Recharge and healthy damage and Demons are just plain awesome. Enjoy! At 50 w/Incarnates, -many- MM's will be running max +DEF henchmen and via Bodyguard mode has impressive +RES as well. If they took Clarion vs Barrier, they are damn near mezz proof as well. If using an aura (like /Time's Time's Junction) or Presence pool for Provoke, they can generate massive aggro and thanks to henchmen attacking hold it pretty well. MM's appear artificially weak because of the relative flimsiness of henchmen at lower levels. But a well built MM is among the tankiest of non-tank players in the game.

Just saw you post this on Reddit. Cool trick, I’m thinking of creating some stealth on/off macros with it!

Normally I'd just pop into game and then use /buildsave to export the build and then File/Open it in Mids, but for some reason, the exported build isn't opening in the latest version of Mids Reborn.....I get errors. Here's my /buildsave file, and I'll see if I can figure out how to convert it into Mids from here for you. build.txt

I have a Bots/Storm, Necro/Storm, Thugs/Storm and Demon/Storm, all fully T4’d incarnates. Of them all, Thugs/Storm is highest DPS (thanks to double Gang War up often) but Demon/Storm is likely easiest to play. Super high +Recharge is key to playing /Storm and you -always- need to play /Storm offensively. Skip snowstorm and hurricane……useless unless you want to waste time and END. And yes….Endurance is a serious issue. Manageable via combat amplifiers, recovery serum and base empowerment recovery buffs. Ageless fixes all this but Endurance management is a mini-game by itself until then. Happy to share my builds but they are also widely available via searching forums here. Make no mistake….a well built /Storm MM makes you totally understand why the devs gave us such Endurance penalties for our primary attacks and limited our buff/debuff strength. If not for those you’d never see players running anything else. Some of the best pylon melt times in game come from /Storm Masterminds.

I never really came back to show you how I ended up with Tailgunner Tina. I liked both of your costumes, so one became my "Show" costume for Bond Rally's and the other became my modernized crime fighting costume. For both, I changed hairstyle and face as I was really liking the Sci Fi face with the beauty mark. And because I fiddled with hairstyles (went with Beverly Thrills) I could incorporate the short Fortune cape which gave her that much needed 'flourish' that all dual pistoleers should have. The hairbow really help to set things off for both as well. So two different costumes, both thanks to you two, but something to tie them both together as uniquely Tailgunner TIna. Thanks to both of you @Mjolnerd and @biostem Here's her "classic" Bond Rally costume.....

It was an overall lack of significant player population IMO. Bots that control behaviors of player characters -were- around in Live for awhile and likely would have spawned others except at the time there were no IO’s so other than straight influence (no recipe drops, just DO/SO’s) there wasn’t anything super-rare worth using a bot for anyways. Once purples and PVP “loot” became a thing, the player population was (relative to WOW) even smaller and less significant. -Any- game that uses mouse/keyboard can be botted. And I’ve been in AE enough to see some players were using Bots trying to find the “hit box” for entering maps but I hardly ever see those these days as, once again, player population just isn’t big enough to create a market for what you’d be botting to gain in first place. Those of us who have played this game for over 15 years and counting may love it but it’s just never been much more than a little blip on the overall game population rankings. I’d argue at this point even Team Fortress, Day of Defeat and CS all have bigger player pops than we do. There’s bots/cheats for those games also….and they are far more FPS oriented with “cheat buster” anti-bot coding systems in place. Because in PVP games at least there’s a goal for cheating. Not that I support that goal of course but just to illustrate my point. This game matters to us. But it doesn’t matter to most.

Not sure who suggested this build originally but it's what I'm running and it's pretty awesome. I still think Darkir's Water/Cold is better but this guy is pretty good. S/L/E softcapped Def, almost softcapped Ranged Def (can get it if you go Agility instead of Musculature) and Burnout for double Blizzard. Recharge isn't shabby either. Depending on your perspective....PvE is what's "broken," rather than PVP. The fundamental issue with PvP in this game was trying to shoehorn it into a casual PVE game and keep the two modes at some degree of parity from a powers perspective. I mean, at least in theory, a Controller should reign supreme in PVP being able to lock down just about any other AT quickly because that was their role in the PVE world. But the melee types were at a disadvantage in PVP if this could happen (well, every AT would be but melee in particular) because they never really had to deal with status effects in PVE and couldn't do anything to defend themselves outside of melee distance. Zone PVP at its height during Live had all sorts of balance issues, but the "fixes" that came along just mucked it up worse than it was. But at its height, I -only- did Zone and Arena PVP and only ventured into PVE for powerfarming new PVP alts. In fact, I'd argue the rise of farming AE correlated highly to PVP players grinding out alts and purples rather than for profit. PVP was an influence sink back then. And now, except for a select number of players who are die-hards, its all but forgotten. PVE is what broke PVP.

Thugs/ or Demons/ pretty much paired with anything other than Empathy or Kinetics are fun all the way up. With Thugs, one of the more enjoyable builds I have is far from the most powerful, but I took Cross Punch and Leviathan’s Knockout Blow. Follow the Bruiser and help him do the beatdowns, the rest of the Thugs just provide supporting fire. With Burnout and lots of +FF Procs in your attacks you routinely can get out Double Gangwar which while they do piddling levels of damage really is a fun sight to behold.. Very enjoyable “gimmick” build. Also had a lot of fun with Demon/ or Thugs/ Storm. Chaos, but requires a lot of Endurance Management which can often take away from fun factor.
-
I would much rather that the devs nerf procs than go through another round of "Global X Nerf." Honestly, I think only the Chance of X Damage procs are the problematic ones, as it allows AT's to punch outside of their damage class. But for all the complaints about steamrolling teams, "Zerg" as the only relevant battle tactic, etc etc.....the real culprit isn't power creep but DPS creep, and Procs are the in the middle of this. I'd hate to see Panacea + Miracle + Numina be nerfed down to only one per power or only one can activate per X minutes, etc. I don't think those have a global impact on the game. But global damage creep HAS had an impact on the challenge level of this game. But take your pick because I'm betting one or the other is going to be on our horizon. Global AT damage modifier nerfs or Global damage proc nerfs. Nerfers gonna nerf.

I have dual builds on my Widow. One is high melee, the other more ranged/support. It also fits her bio to have “dual programming.”
-
The first one is very similar to what I was trying to accomplish with olive drab. But on screen it just seemed too subtle to me for a flashy war bonds rally gal. Love it thought, the bow really sets off the hairstyle well! Thanks!
-
Many MM’s don’t realize it but if you use the MM macros….they often apply the henchmen commands to the Lore pets as well. Kinda neat.
-
Yeah but then lose Soul Drain. I’ll take the +Dmg boost to an almost perma Soul Drain over procc’d Char. And the +END from Dark Consumption, which can also be procc’d out post Ageless as well. But if you wanna forego Dark then yes….Char is a good proc power.
-
Second DP/Ninja. Hail of Bullets followed by sword attacks mixed with more Gun-Fu is one of the better combat visuals in the game. Nothing like standing in middle of bodies with your katana gleaming in the dusky lights of one of the thousands of abandoned warehouses in the city. +100 style points. I won’t say it’s the best DPS but it’s a Blaster so you can afford to give up some DPS for style.
-
All the above -and- go with Dark Mastery for Dark Consumption and Soul Drain. I play a lot of /traps and /storm corrupters and really can’t find much higher value in any other epic other than Dark Mastery. Especially on Dual Pistols/anything since you’ll be in melee range often to use Soul Drain and it can be permanent with high recharge. On my Dp/Kin build I’m running +400% damage (cap) almost entire time soloing or teaming. Jump into melee, Fulcrum + Soul Drain + HOB. For added fun take Cross Punch from Fighting. Full damage Cross Punch does crazy damage. Dark Consumption is a decent AOE damage attack if procc’d and +END.
-
Great stuff! -MUCH- more pinup, love the hairstyle. And yes, with Dual Blades, Dual Pistols or Staff, I often use butt capes or scarves for the extra animations they bring. I tried a butt cape on this one but I lose the dual pistol belt and thought it looked better. Love the colors here too, especially the red/white on boots.
-
Need a little help please. I recently watched "What If..." on Disney+ and was hooked on the idea of Capt. Carter becoming Capt. America. I collect WW2 Pinup art and thus the "Golden Age" of comics from WW2 has always held a special fascination for me. Thus, I present an homage character "Tailgunner Tina." Now here's my request. I am going for a "Pinup turned Superhero" motif. And she has to live up to her "exploited" nature of being a war bond main attraction...showing off waaaaay too much skin to bring in the big bucks and then they gave her experimental treatments to tune up her skills and it backfired (see bio). But what I've ended up with is, at least to me, more cheesecake than pinpup. My only requirement is that she obviously looks great doing her Dual Pistols thing and she has to be showing a bit of "cheeky-ness" to live up to her stage name. I obviously went for Red/White/Blue but I also played with army olive-drab a bit before going this route. I'm less fussed about the colors. Any suggestions on how to improve her costume or come up with something far more pinup and far less "Space Stripper?" TailgunnerTina.costume

Didn’t I read somewhere that Defenders get “tank AT def/res values” for their power pool res/def powers? Or did I imagine that?
-
You want @Darkir’s “Shivering Bite” Water/Cold/Dark AV removal machine if solo AV hunting is your thing.
-
I was actually fiddling with this idea recently and used my old Fire/Storm/Dark Corruptor as a starting point. I've never played Seismic before so don't know that I have chosen all the best powers, but I'll share this as a possible starting point. A few notes: Storm is -EXTREMELY- Endurance thirsty. I have so many amplifiers I typically play with the Survival Amplifier running until I get Destiny>Ageless. But even then you''ll be taking Recovery Serum shots like a madman because this is, like all the dozen or storm builds I've made, BONKERS levels of +Recharge. But you'll want that +Recharge so you can do double tornado's and double Lightning Storm consistently. Those are your damage dealers on top of your own native primary attacks. So crazy +Recharge just makes Endurance a bigger issue. On top of Recovery Serum and the aforementioned Survival Amplifier, you may even want to use the Base Empowerment buffs for +Recovery often. It's a pain, but again, the overall damage output is so high it comes at a huge cost for Endurance. Just how the game is built. I've almost never taken Hurricane or Snow Storm as I play Storm as a very offensive set. In the time it takes to herd critters into a corner, I can kill them outright. So I just don't bother with that playstyle either. If you play more defensively, you may want it in there but again the Endurance issues are bad enough I'd suggest not. As such, most of my stormies are setup for softcapped Melee and Ranged. I can safely play in either. Finally, to me, Dark Mastery is almost mandatory for Stormies. First, it's very thematic. But more importantly are Dark Consumption (+End) and Soul Drain (+DMG/+ACC). On a Corruptor in particular.....Soul Drain is a personalized version of Fulcrum Shift. So this build has (with Alpha T4 Agility Core): Softcapped Melee and Ranged Defense (Even higher, like +5% higher, if you run Defense Amplifier) +170%+ native recharge, and with two FF +Rech procs going off, you'll easily be averaging +250% Recharge almost every spawn for double 'nado/LS Endurance needs lots of management as already mentioned but you are net positive. Stock up on Survival Amplifier, Recovery Serum, etc. Has SS+SJ as travel powers but mainly to get the Knockback up high enough that you can reliably stay in melee without being on your butt This Villain build was built using Mids Reborn 3.1.2.5 https://github.com/LoadedCamel/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! Now, again, if you play Stormy offensively (as I think you should!) then you might try this slight build modification. It drops SJ in favor of Burnout as your level 49 pick. You have such high recharge that Burnout can actually be used about every 3rd or 4th spawn to easily deploy 3 tornado's and 3 Lightning Storms. While a neat party trick, this drops your Ranged DEF down just a tad (44.56% DEF), but again if you run Defense Amplifier, this isn't an issue. What you gain back however is a free slot to drop in the Numina +Recovery/+Regen proc into health to gain some more Endurance assistance. You'll lose some of your Mag protection against Knockback (going from Mag 8 down to Mag 4 with this revised build) as well, but I find that less troublesome post-Incarnates. I'm just dropping in the data chunk for this one: https://www.midsreborn.com/builds/download.php?uc=1632&c=756&a=1512&f=HEX&dc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y no means do I think these are perfect builds. I'm just theorycrafting here because, like you, I didn't see any builds posted with these two powersets and thus I had been fiddling with some of my own. Use them/change them as you wish.
