  1. Load of crap. IO sets addressed every single thing you mentioned here. Also, assuming there was a decent population on your server, teams are not difficult to find. If server population was an issue, Freedom was the answer. Or start a team yourself. ED never went away, it never will, and the game is absolutely better for it. Make a tank, teams will take you. Or a Scrapper, or Blaster, or Dominator, or Stalker, or anything. Doesn't matter. ED was the best thing to ever happen to City of Heroes.
  2. Enhancement Diversification was the single best thing that happened to this game, and it's not even close as far as I'm concerned.
  3. I think it's also worth pointing out just how much of an anomaly that one IO was. Sure it was up at 2billion, but the next most expensive IO (the Shield wall +Resist IO) was only about 1 billion and even the more expensive purples tended to hover at 200-250million. The Gladiators armor global is really a bad example to use when discussing the market. People tend to use it for shock value but the fact is you could make a decent non-purple build for less than the cost of that one IO. Even with purples you could easily buy 8-12 purple IOs for the cost. I absolutely agree 100%. It was its own special case, and when people use that as the example I see it as a red flag. I don't necessarily dismiss them outright, but I become very suspect of what they are trying to say.
  4. /jranger Eh, thats mean. Id be fine with a 'instant lvl 50 and can put any IO in any slot and have all incarnates unlocked' along with a custom title you can never take off. Would actually be useful. "Is X worth taking all the way and IOing out?" Make one, see if it works, and if you like it, play it up. If it doesnt, you didnt spend months on something you arent satisfied with. And heck, if all you want is the ending, not the journey - your already there, with a special title to say how awesome you are! We could at that point turn off drops and xp and influence in AE entirely, as well. I'll give that a half /jranger. Not my favorite idea with the completely turning off AE rewards, but I get it. Although I like power leveling my characters quickly, once I hit 50, the actual process of planning the build(which I'd still have to do obviously), coming up with the influence, merits, etc needed is also a process I enjoy immensely. I don't see myself using that particular option you suggested much, but if other people want to, don't see why I should oppose it. I'd be perfectly fine with a title though if I were allowed to insta-50. Though that's mainly because I know there would be a random person here or there that would voice their judgment the second something went wrong, which would be extremely helpful way to weed out the crappy teammates.
  5. I agree the real influence was made in trading, that's how I funded all of my high end builds. I was the type though that made influence by volume, I didn't rely on maximizing profit for whatever I bought and sold. I'd find a niche, abuse it as much as I could as quickly as I could, and when the profit margin was small, I moved on to another one. I also didn't save much, the most influence I ever had at one time was somewhere around 7 billion I think, and I went through that in one afternoon putting together most of a build at buy it now prices. People like me may have raised the price floor, but we also lowered the ceiling. And when I did buy IOs for myself, it was almost always at prices to get it quickly, as I hated waiting for more than a day on a bid(same thing for me selling). Now I don't know the ratio of market people like me compared to people that did it your way, but I think both types overall helped the market. There are a lot of us that move as much influence around as quickly as possible which would fall directly into the hands of more casual players, but people like you would help keep a supply, even if you didn't dump it all at once. I agree inflation was a big factor in prices, I don't think that can be denied. I just don't think it was a real problem like a lot of people made it out to be. With minimal effort, or patience, or a little bit of luck, anybody could be swimming in influence. I also feel that helped out newer players since a drop or two could really put them over the hump to make a character of theirs much more playable and fun. If there wasn't so much influence going around then it would have been much more difficult for them to get SOs every few levels, let alone craft a bunch of higher level common IOs. And some things, like the PvP +3% defense unique, were intentionally made super rare by the development team so those prices would have always been stupid high relative to the amount of influence in the game. I've often seen that be the example people use since it would consistently go for 2 billion or more, but that was easily the most expensive IO through about I21-22ish(that's when I stopped playing, not sure how the newer IOs were priced). Honestly, I'm not even sure we really disagree or much of anything, and it's not like have access to the data to know anything for sure. I just really like talking about it as I find the subject interesting, whether or not I'm right about my conclusions(I'm sure I'm wrong on a lot more than I realize lol).
  6. Nah, you're just wrong. High prices were due to lack of supply(as the currently seeded invention salvage demonstrates). Additionally farmers add to the supply more than casual players and they also spend a ton of influence that goes to casual players that got a lucky drop.
  7. I think Combat Jumping might be the only power I take on literally every hero. Not Hasten or Stamina(before it was inherent), but Combat Jumping. I don't think this power gets enough love.
  8. I'm at 50 now with 33.5 defense all around and almost no set bonuses, and it already rocks simply by popping some purple inspirations, when it's finished it'll destroy shit. But I'm going to have to dramatically change this. I didn't realize how much faster it is to unlock Incarante abilities. I'm already at the second tier Alpha Slot and I haven't played all that much since I hit 50. If I simply add the top tier Agility Alpha ability to the build FUBARczar came up with(which I really, really like), I'm all of a sudden swimming in recovery, well above the soft cap, and have 18% more global recharge than I need to get perma-hasten. So that will open up some slots for me to chase other goals, though I recognize Incarnate content will need a higher defense number to reach the soft cap there. But still, this is going much faster than I anticipated.
  9. I never used Dark Armor, but I did use WP quite a bit and it felt like my most survivable Scrapper overall. As far as pitfalls with WP, the only real thing I can think of is making sure to play to its strength, which is layered mitigation. Don't pour all of your resources into just defense, or just regen, or just resist. What makes it so effective is it does multiple things very well.
  10. If you still can't find the power, try using a bind for Super Jump. type in the chat box: /bind X "powexec_toggleon Super Jump$$powexec_toggleoff Super Jump" X can be replaced by a key of your choice. This will toggle Super Jump on and off for you.
  11. I wonder when someone is going to do that because you k ow they will. It's on my to-do list
  12. That's a terrible suggestion. If you someday choose to transfer a character and the name isn't available, that's life. How exactly has it been shown to be unhealthy long term for a game? What are you talking about?
  13. It's a 110% global recharge(I think) and hasten three slotted for recharge. Note that the 110% is in addition to the bonus from Hasten itself. To confirm Permahasten - Hasten needs a total of +275% Recharge 205% after Hasten's own +70%, 110% after 3 recharge SOs for ~95% Per the wiki anyway https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Perma To add to this, the Alpha Slot and/or using Enhancement Boosters can make getting perma-hasten much easier than it used to be(assuming you don't mind a bit of a grind). Back in the day I didn't have it on all of my high-end characters because it required too much sacrifice in other areas at times. But now it's a much more realistic goal if it is something one wants to pursue.
  14. Damn, your tweaks vastly improved my build, so I thank you very much. I have a friend looking at it too so I'm going to try and combine ideas you both had that I completely overlooked and will share an updated build in the next day or so. On a side note, I like the idea of Spring Attack, but it's just a very underwhelming power since I picked it up on my way 50 so I'm all for dropping it. I may drop Super Jump as well since I only picked it up to get to Spring Attack. We'll see though, I don't think there is anything else I really want/need instead.
  15. That's one of the earlier lists that was put together. Incarnate abilities dramatically changed the numbers and rankings. Though Dark and Fire remained at or near the top.
  16. I don't know about the newer sets like Titan Weapon and Rad(though both look awesome), but easily my best single target Scrapper was my Fire/Shield. Titan Weapons doesn't work with Shield secondary, otherwise that'll almost definitely be what you want. Against All Odds is great.
  17. Over the weekend I put together a potential build for my Elec/SD Scrapper and I'd like some feedback. I'm very aware getting my hands on all of these recipes will be an expensive and time-consuming process, I'm good with that. Currently, this build has perma-hasten and it's soft capped to all three positional defenses. What I think I need the most is better endurance management, I'm afraid I'll have some problems with that. But..........if at all possible I want to address the endurance while keeping perma-hasten and the defense being soft capped is a must. I'm not married to Blaze mastery at all and perfectly willing to pick something else, though Melt Armor does look like it might be helpful. And advice is welcome and appreciated. 18. I love this. Except I would change that to Scrappers. 8 of them going full Scrapperlock is glorious!
  19. If the team is rolling, then I don't see this as a problem. There are more important things to worry about. I don't avoid tanks, but I never seek them out either. If there are buffs and debuffs, they simply aren't needed the vast majority of the time. This, a million times! This makes me very sad. I really enjoy healing in groups, radio missions, TFOs, etc. But I understand that just healing through damage is a rough thing... I surely don't want to do it! I LOVE my mind troller + empath because I can switch between CC focus and heal focus as we need. I also have played other characters and notice when there simply is no healer at all... which sort of scary. Overall, entire thread just feels like a bunch of people shitting on what I enjoy and came to play. I know it ain't, but man, a whole thread of people complaining about empaths and healers is really a downer. People have been whining about this since the game started, they are best ignored. Some people want to be pure healers, and that's fine for 99% of the content in the game. Despite the impression the whining gives, this really is a non issue.
  20. Back in the day I did tons of ITFs with my MA/SD and never had any problem. The only time it ever came up was when I decided to go full Scrapperlock and get in way over my head, which I was constantly trying to do. The numbers didn't plummet often, but when they did, they went fast.
  21. Damage Auras show relatively well on a Brute, because Fury has more overall 'uptime' in combat than do the clickie damage buffs that so elevate scrapper damage. I'm not sure if they themselves count for building fury, but the combination of auras on my spines/bioarmor brute has been heartwarmingly effective. However, we have wandered off topic, and if the OP is leaning more to scrappers, why dont we look at things that leverage scrapperdom most efficiently? Since scrappers enjoy one of the highest damage bases in the game (matching Blasters), I think the real 'winner' of Scrapperdom is further buffing that high damage base. Of the scrapper secondary sets, one has a massive built-in damage buff thats on whenever your in melee and better the more people you are in melee with - this would be shield. Of the Scrapper Primary sets, Fire is solid single target and AOE damage, while Dark lacks the AOE component but leverages the longest duration damage buff. So, for the Scrappiest of Scrappers, Id probably vote Fire/Shield (For phenomenal AOE early, growing late, and great single target damage), or Dark/Shield (for greater survivability and even higher single target damage, but less AOE and later blooming) Fire/SD was by far my best single target damage Scrapper, it was a thing of beauty when it got going.
  22. Have you checked with Pine's Hero Designer? It's likely more up to date. And this is also for a level 50 Scrapper not factoring in a specific enemy's resistance and/or level difference. Plus I have no idea how Red Tomax has that power slotted with enhancements, if at all. More information is needed to make a real judgment.
  23. It's new so I don't think there has been a lot of use quite yet. Looking at just the numbers with no in game context or experience, it appears to be pretty awesome. I can't promise that though.
  24. It's a 110% global recharge(I think) and hasten three slotted for recharge. Note that the 110% is in addition to the bonus from Hasten itself.
