Forum Moderation - give me suggestions and feedback
Troo replied to GM_GooglyMoogly's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The great and powerful GooglyMoogly provides this chance for whiteknighters to stand and praise this GM's mercifulness. I see what Googly is Mooglying. Seriously though.. .. why Troo would make a bad moderator. Dislikes bullies. Dislikes trolls. Likes fun and contends that 'fair' is subjective. It would be fun to purge a certain pile-on-bullying that occurs all too often. Hypothetical example: Newer account starts thread, bully one posts a not so helpful semi-offensive reply which is then amplified with thumbs up and likes. This opens the flood gates toward a predictable death spiral of the topic. Back and forths descend into mean spiritedness and heavy moderation. Inevitably the topic is locked. I saw @battlewraith ask to "resist the calls to police the crap out of this place". Well, I am a bit on the other end of the spectrum. Decisive action sooner please. Also, maybe hold those with more posts to a higher standard. Seriously, if we have over say five hundred 'posts' and haven't figured out how to participate.. maybe it's not the moderation that is the problem. Sorry if that offends anyone in particular, it wasn't meant to. I'll happily take your down votes below. Caution though, reasons. I would support a coffee for moderators fund. -
We are only limited by our imagination. I have access to all trays on my lowly PS2 wired controller. Movement and targeting with the controller is pretty great. ----- - ------ Is the original suggestion possible? Not likely, but it never hurts ask (even for the impossible). Folks have ported the game. I remember someone getting it working on a switch or maybe steam deck... anyone else remember something similar?

I play from my couch on a giant screen TV with a controller through a PC.

The pointy shoe arm, the right foot on the left arm, the right arm holding a dagger.. it's interesting.

Well, you see @CradetheCoward, your suggestion has to meet a certain standard as set individually by a number of forum regulars. The standard varies a good bit so just be aware. While some folks might try to tell you what and how to post, don't you dare tell, suggest, or intimate to them in anyway how to play. Thanks for highlighting a potential graphical error. AND welcome to Homecoming and it's forum. Most of us are cool and stuff. Post what you want, try to be nice/civil, and f*!@ the haters.

Hey, look at that. This movie somehow broke the $380,000,000 threshold and will potentially eclipse $400M by the end of spring break. Grosses Domestic (47.7%) $185,396,912 International (52.3%) $203,200,000 Worldwide $388,596,912 After re-watching The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Brave New World sorta has a similar feel. Neither are making my favorite movies list and yet they are still far from bad. (try sitting through Melancholia (2011))

Is there a hold enhancement that also does damage?
Troo replied to BlackSpectre's topic in Help & Support
Holds are pretty easy to proc out if you so choose. I am guessing Ranged and Slow sets are also available to the powers you have. -
I do not completely disagree with this. (I like how the game tries to educate players as they advance) Though Gloom and Moonbeam both being available by level 2 to some characters flies a bit in the face of strong powers too soon = bad / game breaking. "nigh unlimited power" sure seems to be limited by level and slotting. This slotting is available at level 7 Even with this IO slotting, the power is better at higher levels, and not low level game breaking.

I can agree with compression.. ..and am still comfortable with the premise: Homecoming has already granted "access to powers that the content within the level range isn't designed for." Dropping Tanker, Defender, etc. tier 7 attack -4 levels, tier 8 attack -7 levels, tier 9 attack -8 levels. Dropping Brute, Blaster, Corrupter, etc. tier 8 attack -4 levels, tier 9 attack -6 levels. We even have outliers like Tanker Total Focus went from level 38 to level 20 (-18 levels?! is that even correct? dang). Scorpion Shield from Mace Mastery went from level 41 to level 35 for many. I can agree with the availability compression being "Similar to not having to wait until level 14 for travel powers." I can also see @battlewraith feeling that their suggestion is "Similar to not having to wait until level 14 for travel powers." The original post suggestion would need some refinement, That said, I can picture interesting aspects. It's somewhat along the lines of power creep we have already experienced.

No IO set bonuses is a flimsy attempt to give the illusion that this "saga mode" is somehow balanced. It isn't. Once again, its opening up access to powers at level ranges the content at those level ranges is not designed or balanced for. No set bonuses will serve no purpose other than to go back to "the old way" of using various pool powers and such to fill gaps as we all did prior to the invention system. It's nothing "new", just a rehashing of the old. I love dodge and re-frame the discussion. Here's what I asked you: Didn't this already happen with the powers shuffle we already saw on Homecoming?

Are you suggesting folks would flip between builds to activate different powers? Maybe using the /select_build command? (I think there is a timer lock on that) I don't think a low level character is able to impact their stats with SOs to the same degree a high level character can exemplaring down with set bonuses and uniques. Note: Plenty of set bonuses and uniques work well below your stated level 17. (see examples below) "The Set Bonuses of Purple Sets never shut off due to exemplaring more than three levels lower than the level of the IOs (which are level 50)." "Archetype Origin set bonuses for standard and superior enhancements will operate down to level 1." "If it's a PvP Special IO, it will never turn off from exemplaring." "Winter Origin set bonuses for standard and superior enhancements will operate down to level 1."

Didn't this already happen with the powers shuffle we already saw on Homecoming? Though, definitely not to the extent being discussed here. ------- -- ------- Of course there would be limitations with the OP suggestion. It seems like there is a little glimmer of something with potential. Would it be a mistake for a low level character to select a long recharge power super early.. probably. Especially if they are only using SOs. Could there be an issue with players later exemplaring down and having powers slotted up, but even then, without IO set bonuses..

It could be interesting.
-
IF you have the extra slots, sure. They are not as needed once you have Siphon Speed. If you're a repel user currently and you like it, sure. I wouldn't take it. Repel and Inertial Reduction tend to be the skippables.

very nice

[image removed] think that's natural or movie magic?

The search function works real well for 'this topic'.

We are soooooooo spoiled.

I'm going to have to watch this again.

Sounds pretty creative. I like the idea of leveraging Gladiators somewhere/somehow.

Add some bad or just-for-fun sets to the game
Troo replied to Troo's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
A simple description or label would be fair. The availability of such sets does not have to be available to a new account. I would propose that anything deemed as 'fun' to a percentage of a player base qualifies as 'great game design'. Not everyone enjoys base building, not everyone enjoys pvp, not everyone enjoys endgame min/maxing. Is your position that any development on these should not happen because they are more niche aspects of the game? New power sets might not need to be limited to 'highly tuned' death machines. I would support more freedom in power set design. I would exchange requirements that new power sets 'measure up'. (with powerful sets there's a need to balance, avoid overpowered uberness, and advert potential abuse) I would like to see more creativity released into the wild and see what happens. Folks have long discussed alternate paths to defeating targets. Endurance drain is one, Impact from being knocked into something is another. It's possible something interesting could develop with more creative, fun focused, or challenge power sets. -
Seems like a good idea in some fashion.
