  2. I'm not seeing where devs had numbers. I do see a reference and some other opinions on its value for some sets and skip-able for others.
  3. and we've come full circle. how to satisfy a request to an existing power which is working as intended without impacting existing players? we'd need some data to see if it is skipped a majority of the time we'd need some data to see how often those that do take it use it Q - would the expectation be that it would be an AoE autohit? to be honest, i'm still having a difficult time understanding the specific situation where there would be a need to placate large groups other than an 'oh shiat' escape button.
  4. I'm usually pretty busy being single target focused and all. It's the same solo or in team settings. Seems like it does more. Would it fill out an optimized attack chain for a noticeable bump? Dunno. But if placate provided on-demand crits for an AoE.. that might be overpowered. I'm not against a tweak but do keep an eye out for power creep, hence my comments. There are likely scenarios I am not thinking of. Placate is a signature power for my main character. I like getting in over my head and having to brawl my way out. Placate helps in various ways. As a pseudo hold/stun, return to hide-like status, as a crit creator, and as a setup for a finishing move.

  6. Don't be scared of this. If you died all the time you wouldn't be playing it. "that I really like playing" = the biggest factor in success. There is some great help in this thread already that'll point you in the right direction. Enjoy the journey. (my main character is locked at level 33 and earns enough to fund all my level 50 characters)

  11. Hmmm I may totally have gotten this one wrong. My min/max explanation would have been: Trying to maximize one aspect of a character to the detriment of other aspects. Example: Maximizing recharge bonuses while ignoring all other or mostly all other bonuses.
  12. What character do you play that needs it to be an area of effect?! Placate is single target and doesn't miss. The same can't be said for assassin powers from friggin hide. There are also pool powers Pacify and Misdirection (an already available PBAoE). @Redlynneplacate does put the character into something similar to hide for that one enemy. Crits and full assassin strike are possible in a the middle of a fight after using placate...
  13. Placate is one of my signature powers and it gets used fairly often. It works great. As an AoE or a PBAoE it could be overpowered. Also not needed, but for discussion: As a cone it might be interesting providing a little boost and a positioning aspect. (though this likely would require some actual skill).

  16. Basically it is toggle-like when using auto-fire (ctrl+click). (yes, that means we can't do that with dull pain or hasten as before)
  17. Is it a geometry error if something lost it's color? I thought these we red, blue and green.. the ground show the color as does the damage taken.
  18. Thanks. The other post was just word jumble to me. Now with players on both sides able to face all ATs it would be even. (though not ideal)
  19. to echo @ejworthing +1 It's been said "If you pick the worst combination there's a chance you'll get a boost. If you play the best combination, change is likely in your future" Play an energy/regen! It can't get any worse, right?!.. =(

  22. From my understanding, makeovers are very popular. A new hair cut, change the makeup, it's like a new you. ID cards don't always keep up..
  23. I'm having a little trouble understanding this. Are you suggesting players would face mag 40+ holds? And that Blasters and Doms would not have access to damage?
  24. Got to red last night (PST) fyi. Ultima Online would also be another example.
  25. What would happen if pvp was the same as pve? Is that the barrier to entry, someone has to learn the game twice?
