Is Regen poor or simply challenging (Psi/Regen build request)?
Captain Fabulous replied to Waljoricar's topic in Scrapper
I am all for a spirited discussion, but I won't argue. It's a pointless waste of time. At some point you just have to agree to disagree and go on with your day. -
Is Regen poor or simply challenging (Psi/Regen build request)?
Captain Fabulous replied to Waljoricar's topic in Scrapper
The game has always been balanced around SOs because that's what's readily available to all players for a fixed price from vendors and as drops. The invention system and AH was always meant to be optional, not required. If you wanted IOs or even sets to become the baseline there would need to be a major overhaul of the crafting system and AH to greatly simply the process, cost, and availability. -

Is Regen poor or simply challenging (Psi/Regen build request)?
Captain Fabulous replied to Waljoricar's topic in Scrapper
Invul, Shield, Bio, WP, and Rad are at the top of the charts because they have layered protections. not because they can easily reach softcapped defense via IO sets. That would be defense sets like Ice, EA, and SR. Regen is a one trick pony, and of all the protection types +regen is the least affective because it's almost entirely a reactive set instead of a proactive set. There's a reason it's so very rare to see Regen characters. As much as you'd like to think, it's not a case of you knowing better than everyone else, or that we simply don't understand how to play it. I don't see the point in arguing about it tho. If you love Regen and enjoy playing it, that's great. At the end of the day that's all that matters. -
??? Rad has 2 debuff toggles and a click that reduces critter damage, defense, tohit, resistance, regen, and recharge. Accelerate Metabolism has a straight up +damage buff and gives mez resistance, recharge, and recovery. Choking Cloud will periodically hold LTs and under, and makes it that much easier to hold a boss. It's a pretty awesome set. Gravity's bread and butter power is Propel. Hit a critter with Gravity Distortion to trigger both Containment and Impact and it does a ton of damage. Lift also does more damage than most Controller single target attacks. Grav/Rad is a darn good pairing. I've had one since back on Live.

I think people forget the baseline for this game is even level SOs. Even a tank at level 50, with just SOs, is not going to be able to withstand that kind of assault. People forget just how squishy most characters really are without the IO sets and globals. I am a well-seasoned player, been playing since beta. I have characters of all levels, the vast majority with just common IOs, and even those in the 40-50 range can't easily solo higher than +1/3 or +2/2. And I'm highly-skilled. Imagine what it's like for a new player. The current power divide is HUGE.

I dunno man, I've always found lvl 40+ CoT to be a royal pain in the tuchus. Massive stacking of debuffs.

Katana is similar enough to Broad Sword that you can use his any of his BS builds as a reference.

You are correct. Any power not affected by damage mods won't be affected by the Rage crash. Taunt is another good power to use during the crash, especially if you're not attacking and generating threat. I'm pretty sure the Hybrid Incarnate abilities that do extra damage act like procs, and those aren't affected either. But honestly, it's time to get rid the Rage crash once and for all, along with all the other powers that have penalties (protection set T9s mostly).

What's the smallest change to CoX that you really want?
Captain Fabulous replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
Remove travel speed suppression. It was dumb then and it's still dumb now. -
Any news on phase 2 of naming policy?
Captain Fabulous replied to Parthenon's topic in General Discussion
Because in the early days, prior to the various methods of powerleveling, it took quite a bit of time and effort to get there. It was a very different game back then. -
Sands of Mu, Blackwand, and Nemesis Staff from the P2W vendor aren't affected by the Rage crash either and do pretty decent damage.
-
In general, yes, IOs are better than SOs. At level 30-up they have higher values than SOs and can't ever be out-leveled. So yeah, buy yourself some IOs.

Hallmarks of narcissistic personality disorder. -
It's a great costume creator for sure, and the recent enhancements have made it that much better. I think the only major complaint I have is the inconsistency of parts across different subtypes and body types, e..g. there might be a texture or pattern available for a top piece but not the matching bottom (or boot, or glove), or a different subclass of piece within the same part (standard boot vs. flat or stiletto). There are pieces for male and huge that aren't available for female, and vice versa. And there are a few pieces with the same name on male/huge and female but look completely different. I also wouldn't mind seeing the removal of all gender restrictions. Let male/huge wear skirts and female wear suits. Let every body type have access to all the hair and head detail options. Oh, and animal parts are very inconsistent in the coloring options.

Captain Fabulous replied to Parthenon's topic in General Discussion
This is why I stopped replying. I got tired of the never-ending strawmen, logical fallacies, and false equivalencies. It was obvious (to me at least) that some people have a vested interest in protecting all their inactive characters and will freely engage in disingenuous discourse. If I were a bettin' man I'd say they're campers sitting on hundreds or even thousands of names they don't want to lose, which would explain why they continue to be blatantly obtuse. -

Kids today. Back in my day we spammed Gale from level 1-50 uphill, both ways, and were happy for it. -
Local NPC asset/model replacement?
Captain Fabulous replied to shadowrex's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
You can't call a different model but I think you can replace the costume pieces. But it would replace them everywhere in-game where the original pieces exist, not just on your pets. -

But not angry enough to make it a priority to at least log her in once a year. 👌 -

Help me out here: why do you care about a character you don't ever play? You care SO MUCH about these characters you never ever play them, and are willing to die on this hill over a policy that *might* one day take their names, but can't be half-assed to at least log them in once a year. And what makes you think name hoarders don't actively play at least one of their characters while sitting on hundreds of characters at level 1? Make it make sense. This horse has been beaten to death and I'm tired of repeating myself.
