Help me keep my Robots chilled (Bots/Cold review please)
Hedgefund replied to Force Redux's topic in Mastermind
Just for reference, here's my bots/cold. It was my very first toon in the new world. I haven't given any thought on improvements though I'm sure there are opportunities. I'm not terribly motivated to revisit the build because, as is, there's nothing it can't do. Nothing (note - not a PVPer). And yes, Clarion is the right call. | Copy & Paste this data into Mids' Hero Designer to view the build | |-------------------------------------------------------------------| |MxDz;1481;706;1412;HEX;| |78DA6594CB4F135114C6EFB453A005EC8B37949637B476680574A7C6222A5044301| |8574D6DA7659276A676DA4497FE01BAF01177BEFE00135D1A35B2746142746B8CB8| |71A5A271E7A29ECC77A0689B36BF99EF9EEF9C73CF9D69F2DA7CDBD333374E08C99| |328A44D33954C9B15B55CD4F4AC2399CE6B19BB10C27B56CDE6D55C55CF86D6D44A| |B5AC9BCDA4F6D54353EBD562D1D09535E38A51D13266F0C0D2A96A2EA7248C42363| |56F9090AE68862E5CAB865150D64BAA9A755B97CB6A3AAB96CD4DADD4B6775FD2F4| |BCCFBA5930CA193565E45297B442C177BAA46594C4265D72B3D77BA89B71FABD700| |8FED41CE2B22C445C16B60DE6279B100159C89F995FC0A61DB0304536C9F2DAC47B| |9BE519FD00C6B7C1E21487508CD429595A93071CE900758AB1738CFD3934D733707| |448587C497DA2D59A70B03642236D66ADF923EA1994CBC9B99C5CCFC57546B9EE6B| |4AD48ABE1DAD7304D92EDAF6B88B3C877E317F839E9FE030156C87576A8FA00F1FD| |34B6B6E9E879B6B7BB866C80FFA29C68B18D9FB00397D8FC0D06370E809F3217895| |F6E4E77EFDDD9235FB8E23766BADE3BFFC61AE1BE53D97C8DB8979C89D0178BA069| |941301A620E80AF683EDDECE93E861E7A6698B3E0E01C3871147C439E5E7E8E7A13| |D0FA8E334FB2E7029EABC135706807F5CAD4633F9F597F1F663910F9975D34B7006| |62002FDF06D51CD209F7F909F0993720D73EFC35B54D74FCFC93BD41FF90ADF04E7| |0CBF855E21CF187BC6EE421BBFC7BCC3BCC5FBBD092E79849864CF6414DA94C29C6| |6C6C0701C5C214F047BB04796D0CBE105E639E62298A45885F32BCB38CBE9247385| |B90AC697C0F3E489C123C5D679ED223820EFBFE7F4A58F083728B10625DEA0CC342| |8B30DCA728392AC2BB55579FF1F4148D6AAD3B3FFFED7BEB96895CF598AE29C7ED4| |3549DAC07E5A168913B2F87E307E12F1BB07E3EF63F62DB7C13F5D04ACD5FE02D2E| |7E483| |-------------------------------------------------------------------| -
What Primaries and Secondaries for the endgame AV's?
Hedgefund replied to mousestalker's topic in Defender
A discussion of AV killers should include Traps. All numbers are before adjustments to level and rank. 1 Acid Mortar provides 26.66% -def and -res (it's trivial to have 2 out for an AV fight, so 2x for 53.333) Lots of proc opportunies (procortunities?) in this 1 Poison Trap offers 1000% -regen. Also proc worthy. 1 Seeker Drone debuffs to-hit by 13.3% and damage by -26.6. Multiply by 2x because you summon 2 at a time. "But AVs will just run away from the Traps!" someone may counter. Not if you spam Web Grenade. Traps won't be the consensus answer but it's mine to the question posed in the OP. Not by a great margin by any means, Cold and Rad are strong for this too. Poison seems like it should be, and I can't say first-hand how it is for Defs, I've only played it on MMs which did not make me think "this is the best debuffing set for AVs/Heros". As to the blast set, Sonic is my usual go-to but Water and Beam could offer interesting alternatives. Still, Sonic will stack up an impressive amount of -res which is probably your best tool for AVs in your secondary. -
Unable to get the tip to start the villain's Pandora's Box SSA
Hedgefund replied to Quixotic's topic in General Discussion
I do believe it can only be accessed in oro by a 50. Maybe a 30 can join a lvl 50 team leader that starts it, but otherwise you have to wait. My hunch is that this may be fixed in the not-too-distant future. -
pass converters between characters?
Hedgefund replied to Papaschtroumpf's topic in General Discussion
You can convert 50 reward merits into 1 "hero" or "villain" merit. In your case you'd have 1 hero merit and 25 reward merits to send. Note - it doesn't matter what your faction is, you can convert to either a hero or vill merit. You can have both types at once even. -
It's been nagging at me that I was so cocksure about the below statement without actually verifying it firsthand: I tried the following 3 tests to see what would happen. 1) Use LFG inside a mission 2) Use LFG from a regular task force (Manticore in this case) 3) Use LFG from an Oro task force I was surprised to see that indeed, LFG will port to the appropriate contact. It did so in all 3 cases. However, and it's a big "but", there were consequences. 1) When using LFG from within a normal mission, you get ported to the tf contact and the mission gets deselected. Meaning, any progress made will be lost. I thought maybe it would be like using Oro from within a mission, which keeps your progress intact. LFG does not. I'm going to lump 2 and 3 together. 2&3) I was shocked that if you use LFG while you're in tf mode, you will indeed get teleported. However, you're dropped from the tf. When you're on a team, anyone that clicks "accept" will port to the contact and get dropped, anyone that hits "decline" will stay on the tf. So, I was wrong, which was inevitable since I said "this should be obvious" that it doesn't work. However it's not advantageous at all. Never ever do it from within a sf/tf/trial. Not because it doesn't work, but because it does.

If you're only chasing ranged def, you could go with Thunderstrike. Personally, I did 6-slot Stupefy in Screech due to the combo of +rch and ranged def. The tradeoff is I have to be more mindful of using Screech - use it against mobs with a wall behind them, that kinda thing. Or just live with knowing some scrapper is giving you side-eye sometimes. I'm ok with that.
-
I'd be posting a thumbs up emoji if that was one of the available options, that sound like a solid combo to me. The AVs/Heroes you fight won't like you though. My main concern would be your annoyance at weapon redraw if you choose to spam Infrigidate while blasting.
-
Another pro for Screech is that it has the 2nd longest duration -res debuff in Sonic, after the nuke. I think you summed it up nicely - SS for soloing, Screech for teams, when, just like you said, taking a Sapper out of the fight in 1-shot is very helpful. Have you considered Shockwave? I'm experimenting with 6-slotting Shockwave with Sudden Acceleration. Even if you choose to just slot the kb2kd proc with a different set, Shockwave is VERY good at crowd control. It's quick recharging and any mob it hits gets knocked down. I just chain it with Howl until the herd thins down. It used to be a "must skip" power in Sonic but afaic now, it's a "must have".

Healmasters - Most effective primary to compliment being a healbot?
Hedgefund replied to Draconic_Kid's topic in Mastermind
Really? I don't see why that would be, since FF bubbles do. Pine's assumes it works, which is why I assumed it would... I'm not doubting you, I just think that it's just strange that the power that explicitly states it boosts defense buffs wouldn't boost those two defense buffs. It's because those shields buff some res (fire, cold) as well as def. You're right that Pines shows a PB buff, I checked that first but that didn't jibe with my live recollections. So I made a /Cold MM on jericho or whatever the test server is, just to see if maybe there was an error in porting over Cold, but alas, PB didn't help the shields. -
Healmasters - Most effective primary to compliment being a healbot?
Hedgefund replied to Draconic_Kid's topic in Mastermind
PB is so broken it's ridiculous. It boosts FF bubbles and Cold Shields up to 25% defense, boosts Farsight up to 20% defense, boosts heals and tohit and defense debuffs. Anguishing Cry (Pain Dom) becomes a -50% defense PBAoE. Freezing Rain (Storm) becomes -68% targeted AoE. Hurricane's -tohit becomes an incredible -50% while it's active. The only reason it isn't the best power for every single set available to MMs is because it doesn't enhance damage resist powers, damage boosts, or End recovery. So Sonic, Thermal, and Kinetics don't get much out of it. Cold shields don't get boosted. I can take screenies if you're a skeptic. -

I wouldn't make any efforts to build for this, certainly not until the smoke has settled on whatever the snipe changes end up being. https://forums.homecomingservers.com/index.php/topic,3606.0.html

Hey FFers, check out the Sudden Acceleration kb>kd proc in Repulsion Field. Nice eh? My 2 inf is that with prior changes to Repulsion Bomb + SA in Repulsion Field, FF is [] this close to getting there. Maybe more like [ ]. Sudden Acceleration may help Sonic Repuls as well, at least to take it from the "why would I ever take that?" list. Still, even with its kb converted to kd, I'm not too jazzed about it for the end cost. At least with Repulsion Field, you're the owner of which mobs get knocked down.

Help me keep my Robots chilled (Bots/Cold review please)
Hedgefund replied to Force Redux's topic in Mastermind
This is meant to be just notes on the latest build, not a thorough review. Instead of slotting small + def bonuses in Arctic Fog, slot some actual defense, you'd get about 2% def to all instead of 1.25% def to s/l/e/n. I went with 4 Shield Walls (including +res IO) since you've maxed out LOTGs. Hasten is perma with 2 slots. You can move one to whatever, another proc. I don't have a "main" but I love, LOVE my Bots/Cold. There are no end issues whatsoever especially once you get to perma HL. -
Time and Cold both make any primary a "defense pet". With the 2 +Def procs and Maneuvers (5 + 5 + 4.2) = 14.2 Cold, with shields and fog, provides 14.2 + 17.5 + 5.9 = ~38.5% def then another 15 from the MM proc puts them well over 45% for aoe def. Cold also offers Frostworks for additional mitigation. Oddly enough, the "weakness" of Cold shields (f/c resists in lieu of f/c def) is a boon to Demons The same effort for Time and Farsight: 14.2 + 14.9 = ~29 and around 44 for aoe. With Powerboosted FS 14.2 + 21 = 35.2 with aoe around 50. Looking way down the road, the support Hybrid provides +def as well. To the actual question posed by the OP, this is a real "Sophie's Choice" for me since these are my 2 favorite buff/debuff sets. Ultimately Cold debuffs > Time debuffs and Demons will heal each other (Time's advantage over Cold), so of these two options, I might lean to Cold by a score of like 52-48.

I'm a MM enthusiast and on live I always thought that Emp could be a great secondary. My thinking was, with high recharge I could Fort everybody and keep AB perma on one. So I made one to test that out, with Thugs. It's what I was expecting. I haven't really scaled things up like I did with my Bots/Cold (my first MM in the new world, which is frankly capable of any and everything) but normal missions are easy enough, even if you dial up diff and team size. I just haven't tried to fight the Avatar of Hamidon as a lvl 57 AV with the Thugs/Emp. Reading the OP that you want a "healer that solos" I have to say Thugs/Emp fits the bill perfectly. I'm absolutely no "healer" and can't imagine adopting the playstyle of sitting around watching teammates HP, but for those that do, this is great, while on a team set at least the Bruiser to attack and you can indeed sit back and babysit HP and still contribute DPS (while actively buffing, obvi). The worst part for me is just how busy it is. To keep fort perma on pets you've got to be super attentive and make sure every 20 seconds (or less) whoever needs the buff next gets it. So no OP, you did not mess up and I would not re-roll. I hope you stick with it, it pays off.

This was to show an option for using LFG, to be considered with Oro, base transport, mission transport, team transport or whatever. LFG offers you 1-click transport. To use your base you would have to either use the base transport or move to your base, then enter your base, then go to the base transporter and select the one you need. By my counting, LFG looks like fewer steps to me.
-
The LFG menu offers an extraordinary means of going to various zones, some of which may otherwise require 2-3 intermediate steps from your current location. The purpose of this "micro-guide" is to help players understand how they can use LFG to their advantage. I have to say that I am in no small part motivated because of a Faathim task force I joined where I watched other members come from whatever zone they were in, go to Peregrine, go to Firebase Zulu, then go to the Chantry, all while I was begging them to drop from the team, use LFG to port to Faathim then they'd get there immediately. Since a picture is worth 1023 words, give or take: Let's say, for example, that I'm in Sharkhead and someone is fighting Jack in Irons and Eochai and I'd like to help. I can simply select "A Tangled Plot" then choose the "Lock the event for your group" button, then "Queue". In a short second, I'll get the familiar prompt to join the league. Click it and next thing you know, you'll be in Croatoa in front of Katie, just a quick super jump away from from the GM fight. Here's another example: You want to join a Hamidon raid. I see all too often someone go to Founder's Falls, travel to the Eden gate, go into Eden and then take that looong haul to the Hive gate. All you have to do is select the "Trials" tab then choose "[Prisoners of Eden] Woodsman". You'll magically appear in front of the Woodsman who is a short hop from the Hive gate. Some relevant details to keep in mind: Like any use of the LFG, all team members must be in the same zone. So, for the Hami raid example, you should drop from any team before using LFG to transport, then rejoin once you get to Eden (or the Hive). Do not use this while you are on a tf/sf/trial. Doing so causes you to drop from it. You are ported to the contact you selected but dropped from the tf. It will work to transport your whole team to a sf/tf/trial contact (if everyone is currently in the same zone). So if you're doing missions in Peregrine and one sends you to say, Brickstown, you can choose Manticore. LFG doesn't tell you what zone these sfs/tfs/trials are in, so this is mostly for people familiar with them already. You will NOT be able to use this to transport to contacts you haven't unlocked yet. In the image above, you can see that Katie Hannon is unlocked for me (the text is white) but just below, you can see that the Ernesto Hess text is grey, meaning I haven't unlocked him and therefore can not use LFG to port to him. (I could for Moonfire though). You will only have sfs/tfs/trials shown that you are eligible to participate in. If I had shown you this menu from a level 30 character, then Ice Mistral and Numina would not have been on the menu (both have a minimum level of 35). It should also be noted that the current WSTs will be highlighted. From the image above, you can see that Mortimer Kal and Admiral Sutter are highlighted in purple, denoting that they are the current WSTs. I hope some of you find this helpful and it gives you some food for thought about alternative means of moving between zones. If I can clarify anything, or if I have something outright wrong, please let me know.

My 2 inf: The Brickstown SSA arc only needs to be set for 2 players, 8 is waaay overkill. I set for 2 and get Hero Slayer (or equivalent) every time. For the life of me, I don't get why people pursue Freedom Phalanx instead of High Pain Threshold. I achieve HPT in significantly less time than it takes others to just get Unveiler. What people may not realize is that Gangbuster no longer requires Marcone bosses, any and all Marcone count. I do a loop around PO for Wolf Spiders and Marcones and I'm done with both in, I dunno 15 minutes. Then it's 2 explores, then do "The Unlucky Artifact" mission in Oro which takes literally 1.5 minutes from the instant you take the mission to the completion. If I don't have 200k debt paid, I just go into oro, take a lowbie arc and die in St. Marts repeatedly until I get that number. There are mobs right outside the hosp so this is quick too. If you've already done LRSF, Marshall is easier than Atlas Medallion. If you haven't done (or plan to do)LRSF, or are pursuing this acco as a lowbie, then yes, Atlas Medallion is the way to go. To the question about what Lord Schweinzer will offer (PO Mayhem guy) he offers missions you're eligible for. A 35 won't be able to run the PI or Founders mayhem, though of course that 35 could join a 45-50 for the explores, but they won't get the temp powers for completion.

I completed the Mortimer Kal SF when I was sub 50 (and have the Promethean badge to prove it) and was rewarded the Flames of Prometheus. According to the Wiki https://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Mortimer_Kal_Strike_Force (and my own recollection) However, now that I'm 50, the Flames of Prometheus power is still active and I do not have an Accomplishment badge giving me an option to claim a Notice of the Well. I was a Rogue when I turned 50. I hypothesized that maybe I needed to be a full villain, but switching to that didn't help. Any thoughts on what I need to do to claim my Notice? ETA additional info: I reached level 50 on the WST - Ice Mistral SF. I don't know if that's relevant but I did learn one lesson I feel needs to be passed on - if you reach lvl 50 during a WST , even if you train to 50 and begin earning incarnate xp, you don't get a Notice of the Well reward. One more edit - I had not done the tip unlocking Mortimer Kal until after all of the events mentioned above. I thought maybe doing that tip would award the badge needed to create the Notice. It did not.
