Can we get the Kismet+6% accuracy IO's name corrected? It isn't +accuracy, it's actually the FAR more useful +to hit instead so it should be named Kismet +6% To Hit. Accuracy and To Hit are related but they are NOT the same thing at all. It buffs To Hit, it does NOT buff accuracy except indirectly by raising the To Hit of a character that Accuracy then modifies. The current name is inaccurate and it can be confusing for players. IO's are confusing enough without having them miss labeled. This is admittedly a minor thing but I've talked with lots of players who have no clue of the usefulness of this IO. This is a good thing when buying it on the Auction House because it keeps the price lower but not a good thing in general. It's been a bit of a pet peeve of mine ever since I discovered that the name lied about what it did. Yes, this is strictly a name change of an IO, not in any way a buff or nerf. I just want it called what it is. *Edit I somehow got the two IO's mixed up and originally wrote Karma instead of Kismet.

Just for general principles I never get Focused Accuracy because it's almost never very useful and it's one of the worst endurance pigs in the game. For the rare occasion where it might be useful I'd just carry a yellow inspiration to handle it. The endurance it sucks down just isn't worth the benefit it gives, particularly in the current game of IO set bonuses. One Karma +accuracy (it's actually +to hit) IO gives you a lot of the benefit at no extra endurance cost.

Never ran into it on Live, sounds like it was an interesting concept. Shame the Dev's didn't ever expand on it.

Is your CDO showing? -
Bummer, but I'd think you'd be better suited with defense instead of still more regeneration, that's the way I went with my Regen Stalker.

I can't see boosting anything other than level 50 common IO's and even then only to save a slot. 2 level 50 +5 IO's are almost equal to 3 standard ones. If you don't need the 50 +5 IO after a respec then toss it into base storage for someone else. You spent the money on it and don't want it anymore; well stuff happens. Most of my final builds end up in the $500,000 and up range so one 50 +5 common IO is a rounding error. Toss it in storage and it's there for the next alt or another SG mate.

Best deal for a computer that can run CoH?
Call Me Awesome replied to Garble's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely, as long as it's relatively current technology and has a discrete graphics card you're good. Even the newer Intel Integrated graphics are doable, I can play at 1920x1080 on my 5 year old MacBook Pro with Integrated graphics. Granted it's a Core i7 running at 2.8GHz with 16GB RAM (I use it for video editing and webcasting) but it does work. The game isn't pretty on it since lots of the advanced video features aren't supported but it's playable at 30fps or higher, I ran a few MSR's a couple months ago and avoided the slideshow even with over 100 players in the bowl. Admittedly I didn't have 30fps then but it still was responsive. (This was before the zone cap went into effect) Frankly I'd look for a machine that does whatever else you want to do well, make sure it has a Graphics Card, Nvidia preferred, and a decent amount of RAM (8GB bare minimum). An SSD is very nice to have as zones load much faster, get 256GB minimum in size. If your budget allows the Asus or Alienware Gaming machines will be nice for most games you'd play on them, not just CoH. My 16 year old Alienware 11" laptop can still play the game, albeit at basic settings... I tried it out a few months ago just for giggles. I was also a bit impressed that it still worked, it hadn't been asked to be anything but a word processor in close to 10 years. Chances are you'll want to play other games as well on occasion so if you can afford it get something that's up to current gaming standards. -
Heck, I had a character at max height that I HATED playing in the caves and I shrunk him down to around 6' 6" once we got the ability to do so. If being over 8' was that bad I can't imagine being even taller, unless you did nothing but street sweep the character would be unplayable. On the other side it's a lot of fun playing a minimum size character and it's MUCH easier to navigate the caves. Plus there's something to be said for a punch to the nuts.

Slotting procs to the far left
Call Me Awesome replied to solarstriker's topic in General Discussion
I just put them in whatever order they happen to end up in and don't worry about it. On a respec build I do generally put them in the order they're sitting in on the screen just from a convenience point of view. The order doesn't matter in the game so it really doesn't matter to me. -
QOL - Quitting to Character Select
Call Me Awesome replied to Vorlonagent's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Likely you're right. Depending on how the client side works it may be possible to have a plugin to handle this, kind of like how Vidiotmaps and Herostats work now. Or maybe I'm just talking nonsense... certainly wouldn't be the first time. 😉 It occurs to me that the server reads the character list order file on your computer when you log in so maybe there's a way a third party app could rewrite it when you pick a character so it has them in a "last character played" order. I'm no programmer of anything much less of this game but since the file is on your hard drive and the server uses it for the character order it might be possible. -
I think they were mostly thinking of powers like the Magic Carpet or Hoverboard. Ninja and Beast run likely are made incompatible with movement powers for balance reasons since both would buff movement speeds.

Scrapper - Shield Defense Changes
Call Me Awesome replied to krj12's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
1. Active Defense and OwtS aren't much alike at all, one is Mez protection and debuff resistance, the other is a large resistance buff with a crash when it expires. 2. Personally I prefer toggle mez protection to clickie but there are advantages to clickie, for one you can double stack it and it won't crash if you end crash your toggles. As far as the T9 OwtS goes almost every T9 armor power is a click with a crash... Granite Armor and Rise of the Phoenix are the exceptions that come to mind. 3. The taunt aura is part of the benefit of playing a Shield scrapper, it makes it much easier to gather up a tight group of baddies for quick and easy termination. While it's a decent aura it shouldn't steal aggro from a tanker who's trying to keep it; the tanker should have a higher aggro multiplier unless he's playing Willpower or SR. If you don't like the taunt aura of Shield then play a Shield Stalker instead of a Scrapper, they don't have the taunt baked into the power. -
There's a function in the game already to show the last few mobs in a map; I'm not sure what it's threshold is (last 5% maybe?) but it will show the last 2-3. Provided it doesn't get buggy like it's been known to do. It also shows the location of the last glowie, at least on missions where there's multiple glowies. A power that shows the location of enemies within a certain radius would indeed be very useful but it's quite possible it would be a nightmare to get working. Actually, it's quite LIKELY it would be a nightmare to get working given the, er, interesting way the game's code works. Would I like to see it happen? Absolutely yes. Is it likely more trouble than it's worth to get working? Unfortunately it may well be.

Global Knockback->Knockdown IO for Travel Powers/Rest
Call Me Awesome replied to TorrentYed's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
It's certainly the big problem for teams, while inexperienced use of KB can be an issue at any time it's the AOE version that is the major problem on teams. -
QOL - Quitting to Character Select
Call Me Awesome replied to Vorlonagent's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Hadn't thought about that, mostly since I generally move a character I'm playing a lot to the first page. I can't see any downside to that except that since your character order is stored on your computer and not on the server it might be tricky to make the game remember that setting. We do have an all volunteer Dev team now and they aren't getting paid for anything. While I have no problem with this suggestion there's lots of stuff higher up on the list. If there's an easy way to make it happen, possibly with a client side plugin that can parse the character list and order it by access time then maybe some of the code boffins here can come up with a solution. The Devs are busy with the server side stuff, maybe someone else can take a stab at your problem. -
Known Solutions - Separated
Call Me Awesome replied to WanderingAries's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
True, but it would be a great player resource. There's a real need for simple, basic solutions to common in game issues that will work for most players. Yeah, it may not cover edge cases... that would be what a more in depth explanation would be for. -
Global Knockback->Knockdown IO for Travel Powers/Rest
Call Me Awesome replied to TorrentYed's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Back in issue 3 an Energy blaster was one of the first characters I rolled up. By level 10 the knock back was enough of an issue, particularly on a team, that I deleted and never rolled another. Even today I wouldn't choose one due to that exact issue although I'd be much more able to manage the KB issue due to experience. Single target KB can be manageable, AOE KB requires planning and forethought to use without causing havoc to your teammates. I have run several Peacebringers over the years and had to learn the KB, for the one here on HC I've gone ahead and tossed KB/KD IO's into the Nova powers and Foot Stomp (forget the PB power name). It costs several slots I'd like to use elsewhere but it makes it much more playable and team friendly. -
Is it even possible to get a Council TF and not get that room at least once? I've never done it in all the years I've played.

These pets have a duration equal to the recharge of the summon without any slotting so it's fairly pointless having them expire. It's a completely different situation than say Phantom Army which CAN be Perma with MASSIVE (+300% including slotting) recharge bonuses. Having to constantly resummon Fluffy even though his base recharge is the same as his duration is just fiddly.

VidiotMaps for Issue 24 and Beyond
Call Me Awesome replied to Blondeshell's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
I'll check next time I'm in game; I may very well have an older version. The plaque is on the east side of a tall retaining wall almost due north of the zone gate in the central area of the zone. The actual location is about 200' or so north of the indicated location. As I said I could well have an older version of the map, I don't recall when I downloaded it but likely shortly after Homecoming launched. It does look from the patch note like that's likely the case. -
Depending on your character there's different methods. My general purpose strategy is to kill Minions, then Bosses, then LT's. If I have massive AOE's then just drop everything ASAP. The Vengeance is a PITA; if you can't drop everything else first then yellows are your friend to put them down. My Fire/EM blaster never has much trouble with them, I'm soft capped to Ranged, have lots of nice AOE damage and I'm still built for the old Fast Snipe with a base 97% to hit. It takes more than 2 or 3 vengeance buffs to move me off of capped 95% to hit on +2-3 mobs. Since I'm level shifted Incarnate I never face +4. Nemesis are tough, but by the time you face them your build should be mature and able to handle them.
-
Many characters have difficulty with Vahz; they're hard for many low level characters to handle before their builds start to mature.

QOL idea -- "Ambush Warning!"
Call Me Awesome replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Sounds like a great solution. As it is Ambushes can take 30 seconds or more to get to the player and in that time usually you'll have already left for the next mission. -
Well, the zombies tend to be dangerous and they're easy to kill. Thanks to that they tend to die before the other mobs. Also, Vahz missions tend to be avoided by most of the players with the exception of the Positron TF.
