RV Posi is a pain! 😃

This got me thinking of a pipe dream I had for a Blaster Secondary: Close Quarter Combat that would pair nicely with a ranged (preferably weapon-based primary) It would go something like this (think Old Guard movie): 1. Immob. Intimidate from Presence Pool 2. ST melee attack (high dmg). Nimble Slash or Power Slash (from Dual Blades) 3. Hold/Slow. Caltrops 4. TP + ToHit (because Blappers). Something similar to Combat TP or Burst of Speed (Martial Combat) 5. AoE Debuff (minor dmg). Ablating Strike (from Dual Blades) 6. Stealth/Def/ToHit. 7. Clicky Heal/End/Res. Kuji-in Toh (from Ninja Training) 8. AoE Immob/hold/debuff. Invoke Panic from Presence Pool 9. ST or Cone (extreme dmg). Vengeful Slice or Sweeping Strike (from Dual Blades) T1, T3, and T8 are thematic in the sense that they have a Fear component. I was leaning heavily into Dual Blades, but T2, T5, and T9 can be from any weaponed melee (Mace, Katana, Broad Sword, Axe... hell, even Titan Weapons because why not)

On a slight tangent (and different thread), I was mulling over a pipe dream for a Blaster Secondary: Close Quarter Combat that would pair nicely with a ranged (preferably weapon-based primary) It would go something like this (think Old Guard movie): 1. Vengeful Slice or Sweeping Strike (from Dual Blades) I was leaning heavily into Dual Blades, but T2, T5, and T9 can be from any weaponed melee (Mace, Katana, Broad Sword, Axe... hell, even Titan Weapons because why not) But like I said, it's for another thread. For this one, let's have existing power sets. just mix and match across ATs. 😃

Dark Watcher's arc has a few. You can also drop by Recluse's Victory. After you take over 3 or 4 bunkers, Heroes/Villains will appear. Red Side, most of the 45+ contact arcs will have at least a couple of AVs in them. If you want more GM level, head over to Eden. The DE there need some love.

Rudra's right. Pets are squishy and need considerable heals and buffs. Hence the rise of the Tankermind. But, I like the idea of taking the lead and attacking with a 6-man (beast/demon/robot) support. I don't mind being squishy, I'm used to it. Rise, Blastermind. 😃

Haha. lots of cool ideas here. There are no rules to which powers you get from which AT. They can be both secondaries or even redundant powers like TA/TA or INV/INV. And they don't have to pve friendly, they just have to make sense in our heads like my Shield/FF. He'll be the ultimate guardian generously giving the team def buffs, but otherwise, he doesn't really pack a punch. What caught my eye is how some pairs (and epics) were chosen to spam one or two powers... which is fine. I wouldn't mind a toon that just threw fireballs the entire time, or just ran around Eviscerating or @SaintD's idea of furiously fanning everyone he passes. (@InvaderStych, don't push us away. We're just being friendly). So I started thinking about double stacking MM primaries. Could you imagine those on a team... in a cave. haha. And, Sorry @Greycat, topic just popped in my head and decided to post without checking.

If you can have any power set (primary and secondary) from any AT and pair it with any power set also from any AT's primary and secondary, what concept(s) would you come up with? I already have a few in mind, but I'll go write up the concepts later Katana/Dual Blades Dual Pistols/Shield Shield/Forcefield

I find it hard to distinguish between To Hit and Accuracy, but more of either is always good. It won't matter how much damage you have it doesn't connect. I always try to build up Accuracy through set bonuses (though I don't pay attention to stats and numbers enough) and leave the To Hit to the will RNG gods and certain clickies. Offhand, I find your Accuracy numbers decent, though my newb opinion doesn't carry much weight. Your damage bonus and To Hit seem a bit on the low side. Additionally, when I'm taking on AVs, I find having a couple of Holds make the job easier.

Red side..no wonder the place is mostly empty.

I wasn't going to say it, but I suppose I have to. Not everyone is cut out to be a villain. And 3 pages of this thread demonstrate it. Apparently, you so-called heroes prefer things to be bright and cheerful (and easy), yet are too frail to take on a bit of darkness to prove your ideals right. even doing a bit of legwork to run around Mercy (much less Nerva or navigating the 3D maze of Grandville) or heck even crossing zones seem too much work for you lot. It wasn't mentioned here, but I can guess how you all feel about caves and CoT torches. In such a case, I would hesitate to recommend Dobb's arc with caves filled with webs that trap you while an Arachnoid debuffs you. But yeah, you're heroes. Stay where it's bright and safe, where the civilians you supposedly protect are constantly being mugged in broad daylight. Keep up the good work. -
I'm sorry, Clave. I'm afraid I can't do that. srsly, sorry, my man. couldn't pass up the chance to say that line. 😃

DP/Nin Blaster is currently my favourite. The over the top animations of DP interspersed with katana slashes (plus the Ninja Pose) does it for me. It wouldn't hurt to put one or two more sword attacks in /Nin, but as it is now, I'm only using Sting of the Wasp and Golden Dragonfly. I would've taken Lotus (nice to chain with Hail or Rain), but didn't have enough slots to spare to make it useful. I don't mind. the powers rotation/recharge is good enough to have both katana skills up when I want them. The transition from minimalist katana slash to a spinning Dual Wield or flamboyant suppressive fire or executioner's shot just works for me. (jump back and Empty Clips). Sweet. As for Pistol/Shield, I can see this happening with a Sentinel.

Ranged powers do this when you're sure to miss. Blame the RNG gods

Basically, crafting enhancements, you need a recipe, 4-5 different salvage (components) and inf... and a crafting table. crafting tables are in Unis, abandoned labs, RWZ and you can put one in bases (or if you have access to a public base, chances are they have one). When you click the crafting table, your recipe inventory comes up. Pick the recipe you want. If it's bright, it means you have all the things needed. If it's dimmed, you're missing at least one. You can purchase everything from the AH, including recipes. Once the recipe of your choice is no longer dimmed, just press the Create button and the new IO will be added to your Enhancement Tray

Glad to have another spider in the ranks. Lord Recluse will be pleased. 😃

VEAT Inherent Change: Dominion of Arachnos
Six-Six replied to MidnighterClubPatron's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't think the Spider's inherent is bad. It may have been made unnoticeable or obsolete by IOs, but you can really tell the difference when playing with just SOs. Also, double stacking leadership will take its toll, even though the Spider Training version costs less end than the tertiary pool version. If I was to fiddle with the spider inherent, I'd make it like Kheldians and give a +dmg and +fear for every spider present. -
...and if you want that macro to have cool looking tray icons, you can set the macro image with these: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1uHUi6BWFTYj4wbfGBs3LjZL88Fym6B-8EwDr18YZcY8/edit#gid=0 basically, the syntax would be: /macroimage image_name Title "command power" /macroimage is just the command to say that you're using a specific tray icon image_name is the specific name (from the google doc) of that tray icon Title is your macro title... not as important, but handy command is the powexec_name or powexec_location etc. power is the specific power from primary, secondary, tertiary/epic pools. drag the power icon to your chat bar to figure out what the power name is the " " are not really necessary, they just help you see the command line faster, especially if you have multiple executables (which btw can be written as: /macroimage image_name Title "command power$$command power$$command power") but I find these too tricky for my wee brain Once you create the macro, you can edit it right clicking on it. good luck and welcome to the world of macros.

I've got just what you need. This is what I use: /bind T powexec_location Target Combat Teleport -- TPs you to current selected target when you press T /bind R powexec_location Cursor Combat Teleport -- TPs you to max distance where the cursor is when you press R /bind G powexec_location Back:40 Combat Teleport -- TPs you back 40 ft (effective distance for most short ranged cones--you may want to decrease it by increments of 5 for melee cones) while still facing target unlike Jaunt and Translocation... when you press G

Not necessarily so: 1) I agree with politeness, but being civil will suffice. Being quiet or not being an asshat is also very acceptable. 2) PUGs mean Pick Up Groups. So you're quite free to join and leave whenever you want. If my dogs suddenly fight under my desk, I'm just going to say something urgent came up and I have to go, thank the team and leave. I doubt I'll be missed, and I'm sure I will be replaced shortly. 3) While true to some extent, some people don't care much for the oftentimes negligible XP another mob will give. so when the exit button comes up, it's time to go. If it is a big deal for the team, leader or someone will usually say (i.e. ITF Towers). 4) So many things about this point that I don't personally agree with. Tip missions offer 40 merits, so they're well worth your time. plus they're fun and different. Newspaper missions open up Mayhem missions, which are also fun and on a different level (you get to beat down a hero in each one + side missions). Merits to converters to selling in the AH isn't always the most efficient way to make inf. 5) Not everyone is an insp-popper. Most of the time, I don't even have the insp window open, and I play Blasters with hardly any def, res or mez protection. If you're relying on insps too much, something's wrong with your build. 6) This is usually the case. Stick together because the team is stronger together. But it's not always the case. Sometimes a sneaky stalker can stealth his/her way ahead to scout or click the glowie or TP the team to the boss. On some SG runs, we split up because we're confident in our abilities and we cover more ground. Sometimes, you'll see a brute go his own way ignoring the team. It's cool. If you're talking about XP, then he's earning EXTRA XP for everyone... on his own. I'm sorry, if this reply comes of snarky. Something about dictating how I should play rubs me the wrong way, and something about the title makes me question who gave you the right to lay down the rules of how people should play. The only rule I play by is be nice to people who are nice to you. Do your own thing as long as you're not preventing others from doing theirs.

Is coo, @Doomguide2005, you can keep CJ. Everyone loves CJ. Plus it's only what, 2% or less def???
-
Or run a toon that has no inherent def/res. Then do perma death.

Savage Melee Secondary (/Energy, /Rad, or /Something Else)?)

Mostly Solo: The only advice I have for going solo is take your time to think about your actions... have a plan B or C in case your plan A doesn't work so well. Some Team: If you really like the toon and prefer a different play style (diff powers, etc.) when you're on a team, you have access to another build which you can switch to on the fly (with a keybind or macro shortcut). Stories: you can easily do all the story arcs solo with any AT. Of course, don't go Leroy Jenkins and use some strategy and you'll be fine. When I solo, I've found my sweet spot for most toons to be either +2x4 or +4x2 depending on the AT. Anything less seems a bit boring, anything more seems too tedious. Street Sweep: once you reach 45+ DA won't be much of a problem. You have to set your sights on harder foes like GMs and AVs, which you can also solo. Cash: You don't really need that much to have fun. Some Uncommon and Rares have very good set bonuses and are quite cheap compared to (IMHO overrated) purples. Also, there's a trick to getting expensive IOs like LotG and HP procs for a whole lot cheaper. Fun Fun Fun vs Chill: Only you can determine this. What is fun for you? button mashing? sniping, nuking, etc. This will also determine the AT you'll want to play. I personally prefer Blasters, Doms, Corrs and Spiders... plus the occasional MM. You can set them up to have range and melee attacks with a bit of CC here and there. The fact that they don't have Armour like the melee toons and Sentinels is also attractive to me (Spiders have crazy Armour btw). you do have access to some mitigation through tertiary power pools and set bonuses, but I've found that the fear of death is the major fun factor for me as I play all of my toons perma death. I usually start with a concept... like a ninja with supernatural powers, for example. Then i choose which AT will fit the concept. Then comes the most important part: the costume. I don't worry so much about build and powers, instead how close I can get to the concept in my head.

Just use: /bind numpad 1 powexec_location Self Zombie Horde /bind numpad 2 powexec_location Self Grave Knight /bind numpad 3 powexec_location Self Lich I don't usually use numpad, so I'm not 100% sure that "numpad 1" corresponds to that particular key... and I'm on a mac with a funky keyboard. Also, you can change the location to Cursor or Back:10, Back:20, Left... etc. Or if you omit location and use powexec_name [x] you can pick where they'll summon
