  1. I take maneuvers on almost every character I make. There is almost no reason not to take it. I would only consider not taking it on something like an SR/SD character or a Time/X/Soul defender (the team shouldn't need any more defense or tohit with a defender PB+Farsight). Often maneuvers/assault/tactics is the only buff that a brute/stalker/scrapper/tanker can give a team. You might as well take maneuvers to help yourself and your team. It really does make a difference, even on a team of 8 stalkers, if they all have maneuvers that is about 28% defense to all. That is crazy good and enough to make it so every stalker should be at the softcap for the most part. Tactics is fantastic as you are leveling and is far more effective at lower levels than assault. At 50 though, it is often redundant, but its still very good to increase the damage of snipes. I would say its debatable whether or not you take tactics over assault at 50. Assault is more powerset and build dependant, but it still stacks very well even on ATs with the weakest buffs. Again, a team of 8 stalkers all with assault is a 84% dmg buff to all. The problem here is more the endurance management as running maneuvers and assault will likely cost around .5-.6 end/s which is a lot. I'd always take maneuvers over assault if I have to choose. The effectiveness of defense stacking in this game is far more important to me than more damage. Remember you do 0 dps when you are dead.
  2. So if you look further down in the thread I posted, there is a build that I made that has fair resistances. I took both of the full 6 slotted superior brute ATO sets for more resistance and it still has pretty good defense. It is softcapped to melee even in offensive stance, it has around 42-43% defense to e/n/f/c in defensive stance, and it has perma hasten. It also takes pyre mastery in order to get melt armor to help out the team more. It's difficult to die with this build because we have 3 sources of heals/regen on top of decent resists and good defenses. Due to the offensive nature of bio, how its added toxic damage works with savage leap, and the -res aura, we have good damage too. Sooooo, yeah, I think SM/Bio is what the OP is looking for.
  3. Whenever there is knockback on my team I follow a you knock it, you own it mindset. If I go in for a big pbaoe or cone and they are knocked back before I can start, I'm just gonna move to the next mob and whoever knocked the mobs can deal with them. You can mitigate the knockback with kb to kd IOs and especially on a defender you have a bit more slots than most to play with while keeping softcapped defenses, so it shouldn't be to bad. Just be aware that you may be asked to be responsible for what you knockback.
  4. Water/cold corruptor, you shore up the weaknesses of /cold with the water heal. My water/cold corruptor solos missions in cimorea on +4x8. You can stack sleet and heat loss for a lot of -res and then you also get perma soul drain and FF procs in water burst and geyser. Super fun to play.
  5. So I made a quick build without maneuvers on a SR scrapper, just to show the crazy defense it gets. This has 60+ melee def and 50+ ranged def with 192% recharge without an alpha. How would this benefit from maneuvers (honest question, do I not understand something?)?
  6. Cold/Rad/Dark/Kinetics are the best at this. Kin/Sonic will boost the teams damage the most by themselves and everyone will notice when you join or enter a team. However, you already played a corruptor kin. So, I would go dark because it has a heal and sonic blast does not add any kind of healing or mitigation.   7. It really depends on the build. As you get more recharge, you usually end up with more slots because you can drop less desirable attacks and run a smoother attack chain. It also depends on how slot dependent your primary is. Kinetics for example does not need any slots for the majority of it's powers. Something like Time only requires a few slots, but something like Dark requires more. 6 slotting maneuvers with 5 red fortune and one 7.5% Lotg is very efficient for global recharge (about 2.4% per slot). The only thing more global recharge efficient than that is 3 slotting the defender/corruptor superior ATO set for 10% global recharge (about 3.33% per slot). In pre 50 level teams having maneuvers and tactics make a huge difference in the effectiveness of a team. Assault is nice to have, but tactics is far better for teams before everyone has their ACC and tohit buffs figured out from IOs. I'm of the mind that almost every character should take maneuvers, except for maybe super reflexes or something similarly decked out with defense powers.

    Both mids and the in-game tooltip say a radius of 15". I have also used this power a lot and those numbers seem accurate. Essentially, it affects people close to you, the radius of a fireball, but certainly not people right on top of you.
  11. This combination would be much stronger on a defender. Your debuffs from sonic attack stack for 20% each on a defender instead of 15% each on a corruptor. Also, your defense buffs and res debuffs in time will also be stronger. Most of the time I would say /time is better on a corruptor, but with sonic attack it will be better on a defender. All the extra -res from sonic attack on a defender makes up for the higher damage scale on a corruptor.

    Grant Cover

    This power is the best power a brute/tanker/scrapper/stalker can provide to a team. You can give everyone on your team 10%+ def to all. That is a lot of defense for your team. A brute/tankers job is to stop the team from taking damage, they normally do that by making the mobs attack them instead, but with Grant cover you can also make the mobs miss your team more often too. To my mind it would be like a kinetics not taking speed boost or an empathy not taking fortitude. Now on a stalker it isn't really included in their role on a team to take grant cover, but man is it nice to take for your team. For most sets, grant cover is the power that would be switched with hide, but not with this set for whatever reason. You can help your team stealth missions with this power. On top of that you get ddr which seriously helps against mobs with defense debuffs (like cimoreans) and you get another place for a 7.5% Lotg. There is very little reason not to take it in my opinion.
  13. I know you have transference to help with endurance, but a recovery of 1.98/s would still have endurance problems. I'm guessing you turned off stamina? Also, you should definitely use the panacea proc in health. I would also want more recharge. Recharge really shines on a kin user, it let's you use all your best attacks sooner and use a better attack chain. With this much recharge you'd need four attacks to have a complete ST attack chain.
  14. I wouldn't skip rune of protection in a budget build its added mez protection is too good to pass up and it also adds a lot of resistance. I would go with this instead. I tried to keep it cheap, but I did use the superior ATOs because they add so much to the build. This has 198.8% recharge with one siphon speed and no purple sets and only a few pvp ios.   15. Check out this thread. I wouldn't depend on the support hybrid for defense because it is only up for 2 minutes then down for 2 minutes, for a 50% up time. I would take the assault radial instead to do more dmg.

  19. Personally I think 40% damage to typed is enough as long as you have softcapped melee defense. You'll be hit by ranged powers 10% of the time and if you start to die just pop one purple. You also have PA and AB to protect you. So, I would go something like this.   21. Kismet, tactics and your other acc bonuses gets you to 89% chance to hit +3s. I am not thrilled with this, I wish it was 95%, but this is about as good as I can get it without making proc sacrifices. You could start 4 slotting Lotg, but then you'd lose out on other things. The only other thing I notice in your build is that you have shred and I personally don't like it. You'll need to use shred to fill out your attack chain, which will work, but I'm also not thrilled about.
  22. So you absolutely do need to worry about accuracy. I stupidly forgot to check. I made some changes that switched out grant cover for tactics to help this out and slotted a kismet IO. You are now at 89% acc rating with the AOEs to +3s (I assume you'll take an alpha. Yes, filling with procs eliminates the set bonuses, but you gain so much damage its incredibly worth it. Brawl is not a power to use as much as it is a set bonus I want and I had the slots.
