Maybe: "If X/If Y" as in "Chance for +Absorb If health X/or If health Y" for the Preventive Medicine? But does it have to have an awkward name as long as the details give the correct info?

But Bopper, what if I need a hug AND reassurance?

I can agree with this. I miss @Jimmy. He was pretty good at doing just that.

Anything we can do to help? Sorry, but no, it isn't. Some folks perhaps, but there are always those that want more. I understand the desire to have things on the forums and not on Discord. Believe me, I hate that thing and was really upset when they were doing the Weekly Discussions exclusively on the HC Discord. But this game has always had a Closed Beta and an Open Beta before anything is published in the live game. My understanding is that many games do the same. It certainly makes sense to try something in a smaller, restricted setting before releasing it to a much broader audience. And it's not just games that do this. Movies, books, even consumer products get reviewed, tested, and critiqued by a small audience prior to public display. It doesn't make sense for Coke to announce their new Pineapple-Rutabaga soda to the public before having some taste testers, focus groups, and test markets first. If Coke announced it and then decided to go a different way, some people would be disappointed that they didn't get to try it and others would be criticizing it before trying it. Closed Beta and Open Beta are taste testers, focus groups, and test markets. If you want to be one of those, join Bopper's Gold Standard Discord, engage in discussions, ask to join Closed Beta, actually test stuff, . . . and don't leak info about Pineapple-Rutabaga Coke!

Looking for a super group [Blue on Excelsior]
Bionic_Flea replied to Morrenkainen's topic in Excelsior
I would add that you should also monitor the LFG (Looking for Group) channel in the game so that you can see folks (Like Oklahoman!) organize raids, trials, TFs, and other stuff. Welcome home. -
Remember, you asked for it . . .

I only play here, but I do occasionally look at other servers' forums or Discord. I have to admit that some of the changes taking place elsewhere sound like they would be fun. I haven't done the math and counted all the changes here vs Thunderspy or anywhere else. But I would still bet that our evolution of New Powers, TFs, Story Arcs, Base Stuff, etc. are equal to if not better than any other server. See Patch Notes (https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/58-patch-notes/) As GM Impervium stated, here the changes tend to come in big packages all at once instead of smaller weekly changes. I'm happy here but I'm also happy there are other places for folks to go.

I think this might be the issue. Not every build and not every player is set up to run +4/x8. Try running +1/x6 and then, if that becomes too easy ramp up to +1/x8, and then +2, etc. Alternatively, post the build you are having issues with in the appropriate AT subforum and ask for advice on how to improve it.

'Bring Your Own AM Task Force Session' ***Thur 4th May 6pm EST***
Bionic_Flea replied to Bumguffy's topic in Defender
AHHHH! Too bright! My eyes! Kidding aside, super-teams can be lots of fun and your outline follows some of the tried and true STs that folks like the Repeat Offenders have run over the years. And yeah, eventually, you will need to choose a server and a date/time to get real commitments -
All my guys start default at +0/x1 no bosses. Then, depending on the character, I slowly ramp it up to where it feels challenging but not a slog. So I might add bosses if I'm a stalker or go to /x2 in the teens, x4 in the 20s, x5 or 6 in the 30s and at some point between 35 and 50 I go to /x8 and leave it there unless I want to speed a badge mission or get exempted way down. As I start getting incarnate levels I'll start adding +levels. Most of my characters do not run at +4/x8 solo, even if they can, just because I find it too slow -- unless it's the DA incarnate missions with all 3 level shifts. And then running at anything but +4 seems too easy.

Here's one I made some time ago on another server. I went with Soul Mastery for Power Boost, Soul Drain, Dark Embrace, and a Fortunata Mistress that you can make tanky and add lots of psi-DPS for AV fights. For incarnates, I went with: Agility for defense, endurance, and recharge. It's not a proc heavy build so the recharge worked for me. Reactive Radial for Fire DoT and even more -res! Robotic Drones tend to stay at range and therefore stay within your buff zone as well as getting periodic heals and absorb from your ATO procs. They also add -regen. Clarion Radial can be alternated with Power Boost to take all your defense powers into the stratosphere as well as boosting your mezzes. Support is added to alternate with Power Boost and Clarion for defense and mez, but also accuracy and damage for you, your pets, and team. Finally, I went with Void Radial for the massive damage debuff. If I'm going to be in melee anyway for Soul Drain and Dreadful Wail, I thought it made sense.

Grandpa, tell me about the old days...
Bionic_Flea replied to GastlyGibus's topic in General Discussion
I was trying to figure out when I started and I think it is either late Issue 0 or early Issue 1. I bought the game in the Summer of 2004 while grocery shopping at WalMart as I thought it was a sequel to Freedom Force. As you can see, the covers were a little similar. Anyway, I was excited to play but then realized it was a subscription-based game and was more than a little angry. I didn't want or need another monthly expense and felt a bit duped and a bit stupid for not reading the box carefully. So it sat on my shelf for a month or two. But then I figured I had a free month and should go ahead and use that since I had paid for the box. I made Bionic Flea and logged into Justice server. I went with Invulnerable and Super-Strength because that's a classic superhero pairing and I knew I was going to use the Jump pool, because flea's don't fly! I logged into Atlas Park and was overwhelmed. This was my first and only MMO. I saw xXWolverineXx and a bunch of other knock offs but also a lot of unique looking heroes running around. I had no idea what to do and finally figured out how to say so in broadcast. Someone was kind and invited me and spent an hour showing me the basics. A few others laughed at the "noob" -- I didn't know what that meant at the time. I wanted to get my money's worth so I played an hour or two every night after work. Initially, I was playing on dial-up, so logging into missions took a literal minute or two. Sometimes I didn't realize but I had been booted because someone called on the phone while I was playing. Due to my dial-up and noobishness, I soloed most of the time. I remember learning that exiting a mission filled my health and endurance back so I would run and and mash buttons as long as I could stay alive and then run for the door . . . and then go to the restroom and grab a drink as I loaded out and back in. I remember not taking Unyielding Stance because how stupid is it to not be able to move! I picked up acrobatics instead and just took the beating when I got mezzed . . . then ran for the door. The first month flew by and I never cancelled so I was automatically billed for another month and kept going until sunset, with a few years of paying for two accounts. It took Bionic Flea four or five months to get to level 50. And in those few months I made friends that I played with almost every night. I joined their SG, Dream Team, which I remade here. Hamidon raids were slideshows attended by 200 or so players. I didn't mind the slideshow because that gave us plenty of time to chat and joke. I didn't participate in the forums until about a year after first joining. That just added another flavor to my addiction, I could play at night and learn about the game or chat with other addicts during the day. And here I still am almost 20 years later. -
The Drama Llama has become aware of this thread and is watching carefully.

I found a build in game even stranger than my own
Bionic_Flea replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
Did someone summon POOL MAN? Two powers from primary, six from secondary, and SIXTEEN pool powers! My favorite thing was to fire off Whirlpool, Geyser, then Spring Jump while yelling CANNONBALL! If I timed it just right it looks like my jump caused the big splash from Geyser. It was surprisingly effective both solo and in teams. I made this on another server: -
