I made Comedic Flea (rad/dark tank) on Excelsior and started running him through Outbreak and then the original contact. So far I haven't taken any P2W powers or my usual influence infusion from a level 50, but I may change my mind if it gets too tedious. I'm also slotting what drops, including the YinOs that dropped in the tutorial. That's relatively new. Or at least, I don't remember those being in the tutorial. But I haven't done the tutorials in a long time. However, I'm not imposing any additional restrictions on anyone other than a TO/DO/SO only build.

I frequently hear people say that the game is balanced around SOs. But I haven't used other the occasional SO that dropped in my lap for years. I really don't remember much what playing with SOs was like and even if I did, the first 9 issues are so far away from where we are now, even excluding IOs, that I'm not sure the memory would be a balanced representation of how it would play now. So I started thinking of what I would make for an SO build and decided on a Rad/Dark Tanker. I even made a Mids build for it. What would you make as an SO only build? And would you actually be willing to run with it all the way to Incarnate Trials? Would you make something new and play it up through the levels, make a second build for one of your existing characters, or PL something to slot. If there's enough interest and we can agree on a server and time to meet up we can see how far an SO team can go.

To quote Skoryy: Why not both? Sure, run them as you say, but also run them with inspirations and temp powers and all the other things you and others would use for "optimal" damage and survivability?

I finally agree with you!

Defense Miscalculation or User Error?
Bionic_Flea replied to Murcielago's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
It's 46.92 Melee, 25.67 Ranged, and 23.17 AoE on mine. Since we have the same toggles running, it seems like it might be a code error or maybe suppression from being in combat mode (though it shouldn't). Did you make any database changes or have anything checked in Options, Effects and Maths, Suppression? -
I reject your general premise that a strong solo character MUST be a weak teaming character. Sure, it can be, like a defender that skips all team buffs. But a strong, well built character in a capable player's hands doesn't become weaker on a team.

If a character can solo at +4/x8 how can it be bad on a team? If all 8 can solo at +4/x8 how could that possibly be a "problem"?

Defense Miscalculation or User Error?
Bionic_Flea replied to Murcielago's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
Can you post the actual Mids link instead of just the picture? -
From looking at the build and assuming soloing x8, I would: Mass Confuse then either Confuse or Terrify bosses, Embrace of Fire, Rain of Fire, Fireball, followed by Blazing Bolt, Blaze, whatever for any thing left standing. For single target DPS, Mids recommended: Blaze --> Fire Blast --> Fire Ball --> Blazing Bolt --> Blaze --> Fire Blast --> Rain of Fire --> Blaze --> Fire Blast for 213 DPS with Reactive and Assault Radial active.

I store them in my base as attuned or level 10 and slot them as soon as possible so that I can enjoy them on the ride up as well. If you PL to 50, or just don't slot your build until after 50, then yeah, attuneds or level 10s work just as well later in the build.

So it was a hyperbolic slippery slope. Good to know your opinion. I still disagree. Changes are constantly made to this game -- from the day it started until now. Some are additions, some are buffs, some are nerfs, some are all of the above depending on individual perspective. But whether you like it or not, changes are going to come.

It was specifically designed to be non-unique because Overwhelming Force KB-KD was unique and players wanted to convert multiple attacks to KD. A suggestion had been made to have one universal IO convert all player KB attacks to KD, but the HC devs felt that a non-unique proc added more granularity to pick and choose your powers with or without KB and also gave players a choice between getting 5 or 6 slot set bonuses or slotting the KB-KD proc. It doesn't also add KD because it's in a knockdown set and would have the unfortunate likelihood of stacking the KD effect with the power's KD and still causing KB, but not consistently. Many KB powers that slot OF have that problem now. And finally, there are several other +KD procs.

I'm not sure if you are being hyperbolic, presenting a slippery slope argument, or honestly thinking that those would be good changes (all of your changes, I just quoted a small part). I mean no aspersion, I really can't tell your angle and all three are fair positions to debate. But however you meant them, I disagree. That would ruin every single IO build and require thousands and thousands of respecs across the player base. If you think the forums got ugly over the Teleport and /enterfrombasepasscode changes, just wait to see that boosted by several orders of magnitude.

*raises hand* What did I win?

As someone else already stated, this would prevent six slotting many basic sets in the melee and ranged damage attack sets and that would impact non-proc-monster builds more.

While I understand and appreciate what you are saying, I think that a change to procs is going to come, whether you define the problem or not. Any imbalances that occur after that change can and should be addressed on a Power by Power, AT by AT basis. I have 2 suggestions for changes to procs: 1) Make the Force Feedback Proc unique. Sorry, Sir Myshkin. 2) Give damage procs a diminishing return - first one that hits gets full damage, second one half . . . third one . . . I'm not sure if additional procs should be at half or at progressively reduced damage. As I am proposing it (standard code rant) it's not the first proc that you slot that gets full damage, its the first proc that GOES OFF. So if only one proc goes off you get full damage for that one and if multiple ones go off you get full damage from first and reduced damage for any additional ones, regardless of which other procs go off and where they are slotted. What would that do: It would limit global recharge dependent on slotting multiple FF +recharge procs. That over favors certain build and sets, but everyone can slot at least one if they want to, even if they had to go to a pool power to get it. The change would also have ZERO effect on builds that six slot a set with a damage proc, and a slight reduction in builds that slot five from one set then and extra damage proc. It would greatly reduce, but not eliminate proc bombs. You could still keep your current slotting and all your procs could still do additional damage, just less damage. And that reduced damage can be debated and tweaked to a reasonable (hopefully) place. But if, as @America's Angel says, this would create too great a discrepancy between say ice blast and fire blast that can be addressed in other ways, either just in PVP or both PVP and PvE. It should also draw out PvP fights a bit more. I've heard people argue both sides of that -- it's too easy to spike with procs and it's to easy to avoid death without them. But again, any change would need to be thoroughly tested in both PvP and PvE and adjusted as required. Full disclosure: Most of my builds only slot one or two procs per power, except for some of the most recent ones that I've made to take advantage of FF+rech and powers that can reliably proc multiple damage procs. So my proposal will probably affect me less than it will others.

Having to open Mids links TWICE
Bionic_Flea replied to Hyperstrike's topic in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer's Forum
The latest version has a problem with some builds made with prior versions. Luckily, I have saved 3 of the last major revisions and can usually open a file on one of those. Occasionally I do better by going directly to the file in the folder and clicking it open from there as it tends to use the Mids it was saved on . . . but not always. I wish there was better backwards compatibility, but I can't complain. I love Mids and will take it however they serve it. -
