It is a real life power! Was working on Sentinels today. Levelled a Beam/Will to 40, I/O'd it. ran it through Posi and Synapse. liked it. I love me some Dark though. .... So I made a Dark/Dark Sentinel. PL'd it to 36. Was hurrying, so I did not do stuff in normal order. I did not get jet pack from P2W, sprinted around base got to Pocket D for PL from my alt acct. Finished PL in AE, slotted. Moved power bars into position. Put powers in right place. Ran Posi 1. Damn, This thing was sucking End. I know it was not Will. But damn. I got a level and veered from my planned build, adding a Numina in Health to Buttress Panacea and a End Rec in Stamina to buttress Perf Shifter Proc, 2nd part of Posi was better. Still not great. Should I reroll Dark/Will? Sigh. Maybe... Think about it tomorrow. As I was logging off I finished putting all powers in place. grabbed Sprint and put it with my travel bar. AND IT WAS ON!!! I had sprint on for Posi 1 and 2 and never knew because i had removed everything from trays... roflmao I feel like a new player again. I will check in the Synapse what me End situation really is tomorrow. 🙂

My problem with Regen on Sentinels is the same as it is on Brutes. Willpower does it better. On Brutes Invulnerability (with i/o build) easily outshines Willpower. Not so on Sentinels (or so I think) This is because Invul is meant to take the Alpha. Sentinels do not do that. Sentinels need what Willpower was designed for, supercruise. Regen is just too much of one good thing and not enough of other stuff. Willpower, while missing the mark on a 'heavy' class slightly, finds a true home on Sentinels. Regen, best suited for very high health characters (and even then it is a comically crazy set) just does not quite meet a Sentinels best needs. I would suggest you reroll this a /Willpower basically. I am currently experimenting with Willpower Sentinels and liking the results. The armor requires next to no slotting to do 80% of what it would do if you stripped all slots from your attacks and built all the power into the armor. (which is crazy, and ineffective) with a tiny I/O slotting into it you get endless Blue bar and very good health recovery when you get into a hard corner. pop some insp, get out, heal up. It will not be Tanky. It will not take an Alpha. It will be the sustain you need if you play smart.

Yeah, anytime I get interested in a AT Build I make 2 builds usually. A levelling build and the final build. They are usually quite close. Part of my enjoyment is running alts in low level TFs. So a 50 build only works for me 50% time. The best part about building this way is many times I can "solve" the builds problems without using the Alpha. So then I can choose an Alpha instead of taking a forced pick.

I have started experimenting with Sentinels (again). currently leveling a Beam/Will. I am not shocked at how smooth Will is. I have a lot of time on Will Brutes. I think it is better (in my opinion) than Invul (my other choice) due to Invul slot hunger. Will gives constant Blue and picks you up when you take too much agro. I do not build it to tank, i build it to sustain. So Will works well for me i cannot decide if i like Beam. I levelled to 40 in AE and slotted all the low level stuff out then ran Posi and Synapse. Will 50 it and continue (in order) through the TFs. my go to these days is Dark on everything lol. I am not sure i like Dark armor on Sentinels. It is a very unforgiving set. It would be tanky against low level minions and probably tissue in incarnate trials. Whereas i see Will letting you play at the fringe and lick your wounds to come back in But what pairs best with Willpower Armor? (I think Sentinel Will may be the most perfect niche for this set in modern CoH, where it is Overshadowed by Invul on tanks/brutes I would be glad to level up a few more experiments but thought i would ask here. and of course, is Dark/Will a decent pairing or is that just a 3 winged duck?

Get to know the new incarnate powers. There are 6. The right pets are required by good leagues for certain badge attempts. They make that big a difference. They are not even the greatest power in my opinion. A good Alpha can take an expensive invention build that does not quite work and grease it so it hums like an in tune Ferrari. Destiny powers are life savers for leagues. Judgements are incredible powerful AoE attack on a par with Blaster T9s if not better. Interface are subtle powerful and fun. Hybrids at T4 are nitrous to that Ferrari. Explore the world of 50s a bit. You might be pleasantly surprised

Sick sick man

I will give you this. Invul is so well focused on its job it does more with 8 slots than most sets do with 9+pools lol. Still feel cheated though

Any way you can clean up this thread so that you just get the reviews and not have to scroll through a dozen pages desperately looking for the poweer set someone said is reviewed here somewhere? i have wasted four runs through this whole thread looking for the second review of dark blast the 1st page says is here. the reviews. priceless. the organization. wait, there is organization?

I never looked at it this way. (I HATE PvP. Hate. From my little hatey heart. Between the good point you make and the reasonable assessment of Aethereal above....I have to admit it should probably be left alone. Grates on me though. This is my most run set in the game, although I have been on squishies of late. If I could convince the Devs to do ANYTHING to fix Sentinels I would be rocking a something/Invul Sentinel. In fact I may do one for my next Redside solo everything. Havent decided, might go full Blaster. But it just irritates to go picking through the powers. Oh, the tier 9? Garbage power in PvE. Nice nearly every other set/AT in the game gets a T9, you get a lump o' coal.
-
Fix this. Please. Okay. That is what the thread is going to boil down to. Thought we should just get it out of the way in the warmups. I feel stretched. Do you? What would a fix to Invulnerability's T9 Unstoppable be? Would it fall along the lines of nerfing it a bit and putting it on a non recharge like Rune of Protection. (I dislike this but at least it would give an option that is viable...) Would you re-envision Unstoppable as an Incarnate style power? I sure would. Kicking Defenses up +20% or so, maybe not adding 70% resists. Seriously, what Invulnerability user needs an additional 70% resist across the board. You did use enhancers right? This is where Unstoppable left the good idea track and started down the off the tracks over the cliff stupid. "Let's give Invulnerability a power that boosts Resistances 70% across the board" Dev 1 "It's going to need a huge crash then." Dev 2 "'Right' Dev 3 (lead) 'Code it." Invulnerability has as much use for +70% resist across the board as I do for +200 pounds muscle mass. Where the hell would I put it? A thoughtful look at what this power needs to be in the modern game and a REASONABLE downtime and/or crash needs to be examined. Something useful for boss fights at the end of TFs (including a look at how long those fights cycle) and/or a button for 32+ / 38+ users who are getting overwhelmed by dozens of mobs in some dismal map. Resistance to End Drains thrown in would be good. Feathering in Defense while shoveling out a lot of the useless Resistance. Creating something that sustains a character through tough times instead of being a 3 minute delayed death sentence for the character (and sometimes the team)

It's funny. If I were to hit one of the big lottery jackpots...you know 1/2 billion USD I would buy a mansion. Couple cars. Would I want my own server for CoH? Nope. Might volunteer to donate stuff to the current Dev team. Even if money could pry the rights away from certain people, I would want a team....pretty much exactly like the team we have running things. Mostly low key, conservative, thoughtful decisions and changes. Although changing Invulnerability's T9 crash and fixing SS Rage would be great to see.

Why hasn't Clamor killed Countess Crey yet?
Snarky replied to Luminara's topic in General Discussion
The greater connection between Clamor and Countess Crey is that Crey Industries produce Excelsior. This is the drug the Freakshow use (and abuse) that allows them to bolt things onto their bodies originally stolen from Crey. But now??? -
Any very tough Brute or Tank can do what you ask here. But your first post said 'best' Now, Farming is like racing? What track are you on? a F! is probably the best. Unless you are dirt racing, then it is not so good. Most Farming is done on Fire Farms. Mobs deal Fire damage and are susceptible to most notmal attacks. Pick your farm wisely. So Fire Armor givves great fire protection and is the highest damaging armors. We are going down the rabbit hole fast. Check the link above for more info.
-
Personally I like a Rad/Fire Brute. I/O'd to the gills of course. But I do not like farming. Also, you left out if you were AFK farming, or Fire Farming, etc...

Thanks now I have the Full Metal Jacket scene "THis is my rifle, this is my gun" scene stuck in my head.

Updates from the front...errr bottom.... in Help "I am 50 vet 100 but have never done a DFB, what do I do?" Me: "Run a DFB" A few sweet comments on living up to my name later I invite the 50 to Atlas and organize a badge run. I never organize. I never give instructions. I gave instructions. I put in every AD "badge run" in CAPS!!!! Instructions "We have two people here that never run this. This is a badge run. There is one boss where you cannot kill minions. only boss, single target attacks. I will pull" A few other people gave more explicit instructions about AoE and such. I always pull this boss. i get bored down there. At the boss I race ahead. Someone has already cleaned the bombs....I already am like hmmm. I pull the boss when she emerges with a long blast. as usual. She starts to me. then hares off to the far back of the room. We got the badge. But seriously. is it that F-ing hard to read two sentences? Is it that hard to follow instructions on a F-ing DFB? How you people (and i especially mean Oklahoman and Confusion, but everyone who attempts badges on hard content) do this I do not know. I was ready to reach through the comp and drain the blood out of their worthless body with the power of sheer hate,

*facepalm the Blaster i was on is T4d across the board Incarnate, i/o’d with Purples everywhere, as well as a ton of other good stuff. He has all his accolades. Unfortunately I do not have the skill necessary to solo a TinPex on a Blaster. So without a team i avoid them
-
You have chosen poorly
-
i was flabbergasted. Finally I was like "You are going into that room eventually" Which got me a couple props for my name in team chat. *pats self on back.

I am rolling two squishies right now. Dark/Dark Blaster and Dark/Dark Corruptor. The Corruptor is by far the more interesting. It has grand debuffs, soft controls (fear and stun, tar patch), team heals, good damage. Still I prefer the raw damage of Blaster. Dark/Dark Blaster is harder to run, but does significantly more damage. It is happiest very close to the action where it can bop in to charge up Soul Drain and use T9 Nuke. This adds a couple seconds to the Nuke Phase where you can get taken the F out. But when it works....OMFG. It is nice. A saturated Soul Drain is a Happy Happy thing. Then you bop out to 30-50 range and either ST chain the baddie or drop into 4 cones (Dark/Dark/Soul) for a withering AoE torrent that does not stop.

Without going full rainbow. (No offense to the Captain Fabulous icon your are rockin') a very simple solution is to choose Bright Invulnerability with White/White. This creates a Shiny Invulnerability set worthy of the noblest Paladin. Blech.

You joined during the only technical hiccup I can recall on Homecoming. So what I am saying is you brought the bad luck with you! Still, even though you bring us a curse, we welcome you. That is what villains do. If you are social there are some very serious, ranging to very casual, SGs to be found. The message boards for individual servers are a great place to look for that. I played for about half the life of CoX live. I can say that Homecoming has the best of the CoX experience from there. It also has some of the hilarity of one of the big servers with crazy stuff happening. I play on Excelsior and to me, it seems, there is a rather steady influx of newer players who seem amazed you can do simple things like pull the AV from DFB off the bridge to the tunnel and get the badge 3x easier. To me this indicates they have not seen a lot of the tricks veterans use to get stuff done. I am a "B" grade player copying off "A" students papers. Still, it amazes me when no one seems to know these tricks. Have fun and enjoy yourself. You will find the game is very solid under the current management. There are the big QoL improvements you have noticed. there is also a fair amount of tweaking powersets and even ATs to unscrew some of the original DEV teams peculiar building choices.

yes, i stayed through the 2nd TF. I really try not to leave crap I join. Plus, one part of me had already decided to write about this lol. I was honestly amazed the two AVs and the two giant bots at the end of the second dropped pretty fast. Only 2 deaths there I think. One was me. Sigh. It was a rough night.
