What are the "Must Do" Missions for End Game "grinding"?
Snarky replied to Koven's topic in General Discussion
It really depends on goals. In my opinion. You want cash? Farms. You want incarnate power “burdens of the past” arc in ouro. You want fun? Mad cap incarnate trials and any task force. ( fun to run on a kitted out 50 lol) -
If you are running a Psi damage TF or Minds of Mayhem incarnate trial go to Auction. Buy medium and large oranges. Put in email and leave stored on AH. Fill tray about half full. Prob solved.

the best place for detailed info is homecoming wiki. Enhancement Sets - Unofficial Homecoming Wiki (cityofheroes.dev) There is a metric crapton of information on that page. just raw data to the unwashed masses. Then there are all the meta rules of enhancers. diminishing returns, slotting them at min level -3, getting them attuned, never buying/attuning purple sets, and on and freaking on. There is a lot to know. You will make mistakes. It is okay. You will make less than good builds. It is okay. I just switched to Blasters from Brutes. (I build and/or steal builds for great brutes) I am just starting to realize my Blaster build has been working against me after a couple months. Still kills stuff great. Time for a rebuild lol. Play the game, run builds from good builders. Do things you like. There are a very few optimal Archetypes and builds. Speedrunners build insanely tight. So do some farmers. My style is roller derby through the streets of "Escape from Los Angeles" It is ugly and fun and once in a while I learn something. You are asking questions in the right place at least. As you settle on an Archetype the forum for that archetype should have a few helpful people and can be searched for conversations on the topics you are looking at. Have fun. Seriously.

Thanks for the replies. It is a complete "goof" character I will probably run as a Defender since I have never ran one of those

I have an oddball concept for a Water Blast Storm Power character and cannot decide what AT to do it with. Any Ideas? I assume Water Blast is a given ,,, and Storm Summoning? Probably? Is there another Storm set? Or Wind set? So Corruptor? Defender?
-
Pretty sure that is a bug you should report. I have an odd bug in my system where Arachnos Crab backpack started showing up. (on MANY toons, non arachnos, not changeable) I deleted my Crab and it went away 99%. I blame (without proof) the RAM drive the game sits on. I think the game sees 'erased' lines of code under the hood and acts on that.

Goldside is harder than Red and much harder than Blue

Update time: Finished 20-24 content. Level 24 Haul: 641 badges, 1,183 reward merits, 46 souvenirs, 320 mission completed and 1 failed. 93 hours in game. (spent time crafting for cash and random GM hunts etc.) 25-29 is going to be tough. Not only all 20-29, 25-29 content (as usual) but Ouro all Goldside 1-20, First Ward (all) and every badge mission Blue. Will also be doing the 1-30 Ouro badge challenges. Tired just typing it out lol. Could be a few weeks before I post the next achievement lol.

What if becoming an Incarnate started people on an inevitable slide to evil and madness? Power corrupts. As people become more and more incarnate powerful their alignment shifts from hero to vigilante to villain to …? There would be shifts in the incarnate trials and perhaps individual story arcs ( similar to DA and and alignment tips ) that explore the shift

A Little Overwhelmed: Starting New From Way, Way Back in the Day
Snarky replied to Koven's topic in General Discussion
There is an Auction. THis is linked Red/Blue/Gold and all servers. There is a Pay 2 Win, (Transact for Victory) that is FREE. Available in Starting zones and Pocket D. Good stuff. Some of it costs in game cash. Double Experience free. 1 cheapo jet pack option 5000 per half hour. Definitely check out. Too many upgrades to go into. Many affect what you are talking about. Knowing what Archetype and powersets you are honing in on would focus answer, but I realize the question is to help you do that. So....Tankers got a nice AoE buff. They are still the toughest. I used to Brute about 80% time but now find myself on a Blaster. The more you know the more dangerous you get 🙂 Good luck to you. If you are staying long term and getting set up I recommend looking in the forum for your server for an SG or posting a message there. I play on Excelsior and hang with Cosmic Council there. Very organized, crazy active, fun group. -
Ach, if only you were on Excelsior lol. Good hunting villains.

Willpower performs great. I solo’d Redside on live multiple times ( every contact) on SS/Willpower Brutes using mostly SO builds Having said that with a high end build from Hyperstrike a Invulnerability Brute will outperform a Willpower Brute in every manner. The extra Endurance and Regeneration from Willpower is lost and/or not noticeable while the armor from the Invulnerability set is very noticeable

Too true. Two of the current educational experiences I am processing: Synapse. I always pronounced this Sign napse, instead of sin apse. I blame math. Sine waves and all the derivative terms start with Sin and are given the Sign sound. Also, Melee. I do not know who to blame for this one. I will assign that soon. My go to way Me Lee. instead of May lay. F-ing English. But I am enjoying the fun and educational experiences with Cosmic Council. Great (and huge) crew. Master badgers, speedrunners, Iron (Wo)man grinders, farmers (We recently did an impromptu farm and there were 6 of us farmers cleaning maps lol) and educational TFs, Base building seminars, and Ukase's Goldside crawl. (He just finished MCing a Blueside and Redside crawl 1-50!

I just slapped around 100 i/o on the market. I shoot for 70-90% of current avg sales. Buckets of Numina's Regen/Recovery and Perf Shifter plus Recovery at a hair over 3 mil. Buy some. Oh, and shaddup.

I have always enjoyed solo play. Running Brutes on live Redside solo since just about the time Good vs Evil dropped. I love Task Forces. I will PUG with anyone. A bad Task Force is still better than most other things in life. Plus it gives me endless conversation topics on the boards lol I love doing solo projects. Currently soloing Redside ( 1st time doing this on a Blaster!) and doing this as a Badger getting Blue and Gold badges and First Ward Night Ward content. Lot of stuff to do there I recently joined an SG that is very active and organized. I recommend this to anyone who might team. A good SG is endless fun. I joined Cosmic Council. Discord and planned activities including every Saturday Incarnate Trial badging starting off with Master of Magisterium I am starting to like farming, ut that is more or less just because how easy it makes everything else. Also really nice to be able to help someone 50 or open incarnate slots quickly

Fire/Elec Blaster I believe is one of the most extreme damage dealers. It works in near melee range constant. You depend on killing as armor. You are going to ride the lightning there.
-
Dont forget to poke someone with Touch of the Beyond once every two minutes. You will see the buff icon on your powers active when it us up. Bug yes, still an end hog. You will get Dark Consumption available at 28. Very powerful, usually fill end bar

Some type of gas powers. Thinking possibly poison? Some beans will seriously mess people up right?
-
I'm not polite. I'm not technically human anymore. I'm not even going to offer an opinion on Beaning. Maybe I will make this glorious list.... Can we please get badges for how many global ignores we have?

I only flip once or twice a year. It is always born out of irritation. I need X enhancer. A few available at WAY above market price for that type of product. (Discovered by multiple escalating bids) Similar product available at or below that price point. I buy a few of similar product. Convert convert convert. Keep one, sell rest at a reasonable price.

I have a Electric/Temporal/Force concept simmering on a back burner. All ranged. Ranged Defense. The ability to escape any (ANY) "Die now" scenario. I call it a Blanker (Blast Tanker) but in hindsight it is really a Blalker (Blaster Stalker) This Hero build was built using Mids Reborn 3.0.5.7 https://github.com/Reborn-Team/MidsReborn Click this DataLink to open the build! Damage, for Brutes is slightly above average. It has a damage aura so it immediately lumps into the upper class. ST for Dark has always been good. Recent changes to game helped Shadow Maul which is not perfect now, but better. Still Dark Melee needs Dark Armors Damage Aura to compete in AoE. Survivability is incredibly good. This is due to Stealth, Stun Aura, Fear Aura, and to-hit debuffs doing the heavy lifting that lack of actual Defense would normally affect. Top notch Armor. Especially when built right. Best Heals in the game. Bar None. Survivability is incredibly good. The build is a joy to run in Incarnate Trials. EXCEPT for the unavoidable large damage patches in the Battle Maiden TinPex run and the Lightning Crackle of Magisterium. The large damage patches in Minds of Mayhem (Psi damage) are ignored by my build. They have no effect until he is in 3+ and then he hits his heal... GMs and AVs. THis is no Pylon killer but again, damage is respectable and Tankiness is very good. So, A solid Brute for the work.

The cycle ending, and beginning again...?
Snarky replied to Black Talon's topic in General Discussion
Everyone above might be right.... The diaspora (if any) might have a significant impact on Homecoming CoH AND the diaspora of WoW players will largely ignore CoH. Because Homecoming is a corner grocery market and WoW is Wal-Mart. Any shift of a few hundred people starting to shop regularly at the corner market has a huge impact on that market. But in comparison to the WoW diaspora it will be statistically insignificant.
