  1. I played a Corrupter and a Mastermind with Electric Affinity and while I had a good time playing both, I liked it better on a Mastermind especially for solo because I find it kind of miserable having to target through the sentinel all the time and thus never getting full value for your spells on yourself. Mastermind was really great, I played it as a Thugs which can really benefit from the whole set as they really do eventually run out of endurance in larger spawns and EA just keeps them ticking non stop.
  2. In this matchup, I would go with the LG on because it has an adjustable stand. The brightness on it could be a bit better. I have a 350 cd/m2 LG monitor and a 250cd/m2 Asus monitor and it makes a pretty big difference on the brightness of everything but 300cd/m2 should be good enough. If you don't have a VESA arm mount for your desk, an adjustable stand will make a world of difference on the ergonomics of your set up. Having a monitor at the proper height will alleviate and avoid neck strain and that to me is worth a lot more than having a monitor that's a few nits brighter and a few usb ports to plug my phone in.
  3. That all comes back to my final point though, what do you cut to fit in those skills, Recall Friend is an obvious choice in the build as it is more of a utility pick (not counting the KB res in it) but then what, Temp invul ? Being able to CC 1 boss for a few seconds in exchange for 40% S/L res and 6% Def just doesn't seem like a good trade off. Then what do you cut to add slots in Time Stop. The game starts feeling way too convoluted to me when there are too many powers involved. Like if I wanted to hold a boss what would I need to do? Time Stop, Cryo Bullet, SF, Incendiary bullet. That's 4 buttons i needed to go through to hold that boss for a few seconds when I could have just been pewpewpewing and making it dead instead. It just all feels to me like it would be shuffling powers/slots around to get a net neutral result. Sure SF would hit harder and I get that my "base 20 seconds" comment sounded incomplete because global cooldown and hasten is a thing, but at what cost ? Like I mentioned in my original post, I literally never solo in CoH (unless it's with a Mastermind then I find it amusing to solo somewhat) and seeing how the group dynamic is these days I just don't see it making that big of a difference. I guess since I'm just more of a group player so it kind of skews my view on things like the importance of single target attacks VS higher resists especially since I see myself going into the fray to use Hail of Bullets. Thanks a lot for your input though, I learned some things through this discussion !
  4. Here's a few points I see: According to my previous inquiries about slotting a /Storm controller, Tornado doesn't take procs especially well so it is better to just slot it for Enhanced Damage for a better experience. Also you should add a KB > KD IO to it because it will fling everything away and end up not doing any damage at all. On my build, Mids gives my Tornado a 836 damage value with no procs at all and on yours it gives a value of 429 Damage. Same thing with Lightning Storm here except it doesn't need the Sudden Acceleration. Mine reads as 86 with no procs while on your build it reads as 55 damage. Not only less damage for these 2 skills but you are losing out on good set bonuses to help you survive better. Change the slot in Super Jump for a Blessing of the Zephyr Knockback protection to hit that magic mag 8 KB res which will protect you from a large chunk of KB effects that various bosses will throw at you You should seriously consider getting Freezing Rain, it is a -30% Def and -30% res debuff which is very powerful not only for you but for the whole team. I would get rid of Victory Rush to fit this in. Here is what my Earth/Storm looks like if you want to take inspiration from it. It's not a /Stone Mastery build as I went with Psionic because I wanted to stay back more but the info for the main specs should be the same All in all Earth/Storm is a super fun build to play that has copious amounts of CC and still manages to get some damage in Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! 5. Interesting, I had previously tried Decimation in another build (Sentinel I think) and it would rarely fire off and when it did I didn't even notice it. What I did here by getting rid of SF is that I spread the slots around to other powers and added more procs to them, namely Executioner's Shot, Piercing Rounds and Hail of Bullets. Wouldn't I get a similar damage boost globally by having them spread out like that than having them concentrated in one power ? I don't like having too many attacking powers when they all come back off cooldown and I am still pressing other buttons it just kind of feels wasteful. I have Hail of Bullets I use on cooldown that isn't really part of any rotation. Then I have Bullet Rain, Empty Clips and Piercing rounds I use to fire into hordes. When it's down to Single Targets, I whip out Dial Wield, Executioner's Shot and Piercing Rounds to kill those bosses. I'm just going by the numbers I see in Mids which may or may not be accurate: Dual Wield: 143damage. no offensive procs but has the 2 sweet Defender ATO procs in it. not to mention the ATO bonuses Executioner's Shot: 324.3damage. Has Apocalypse and Impeded Swiftness proc in it Piercing Rounds: 230.7damage. 2 Procs, Positron's Blast and Bombardment. This power does double duty as an AoE and a ST skill. So what would you replace here to add in SF ? Sure it looks stronger than PR and DW but it would make the attack rotation clunky to have a base 20sec recharging power in there to replace a base 6 and base 10sec power. Not to mention that I would need to take away procs from other powers to even slot it completely or completely get rid of Temporary Invul to fit it in the build. Tough choices ! I think I am going to go with my gut and keep the tighter power choice because correct me if I'm wrong but it feels like I am changing 4 quarters for a dollar bill by fitting in this power by weakening others
  6. Thanks for the link, I will look at that build. Thing is, I'm not even 50 and I didn't even take Hasten yet but I have already taken my T1 attack off my bar because the rest recharges fast enough that I don't need it. Adding in SF feels like it would superfluous even if it would do good damage with all those procs in it ! I didn't especially tailor this build to be centered on procs as my proc-fu is pretty weak I just figured that having at least 1 or 2 in powers that didn't have much would be better
  7. Nice build here you guys got brewing, I like it a lot ! I changed up a few things to suit my needs/playstyle from @Bopper's build and the general concept and theme of @Redlynne 's original build is still there I think (namely infinite pew!pew!pew!) First, I got rid of Soul Mastery in favor of Power Mastery. While it is for sure weaker than Soul Embrace in the damage department but is still a respectable 80% damage buff. It pulls double duty as a Power Boost alternative to buff the ...buffs. Power Mastery also gives access to Temp Invulnerability which I have liberally frankenslotted with all the goodies that were missing due to lack of a +res power. Next I got rid of Time Crawl and Time Stop. This is 100% a personal choice that caters to my playstyle since I never, ever play CoH solo, I am always grouping in TFs and such so missing out on that -regen isn't a big deal and just having a single hold isn't too hot either. I picked up Maneuvers and Recall Friend with these power picks. Lastly I got rid of Suppressive Fire as it just feels really weak amidst all the DMC style pew! pew! pew! and I picked up Vengeance instead. I was going to keep SF it as a mule for the 7.5% recharge in the Basilisk Gaze 4pcs set but it turns out there was room for an extra LotG 7.5% recharge ! Yay Vengeance ! Yay 1 slot wonder ! I also sprinkled in a few more damage procs here and there with the slots I saved to round it out Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! 8. Still, even using catalysts to attune them, you are losing 1.5mill each time
  9. That's pretty bad advice for people who don't have a SG that shares everything in a common pool. Buying Multistrike with Merits you are quite literally paying 10-20x more than what they are worth in influence on the /ah. They go for 200-500k each when you could be making 4-5 million with your 20 merits. The only enhancements that are kind of OK to buy with merits are Winter Sets, anything else you are paying a sometimes significant surcharge on the merit vendor
  10. I would still go with the electriQ Monitor. The only reason being that it is much brighter than the Viewsonic model. It's better to turn down the brightness than have it too dark. Not really sure how 400cd/m2 stacks up to 280cd/m2 scientifically speaking, but what I am sure is that brighter is better. Not to mention that the electriQ has some USB ports on it which are very nice to have though you will need to buy a USB cable to connect to your computer to use these as it doesn't look like it comes in the box (My LG monitor didn't have that cable included either)
  11. Get this one 144Hz is amazing. If you have a good Video Card you should strive to have everything you run in 144Hz, it makes everything so nice and smooth (yes, City of Heroes has a 144Hz option). From my experience it makes a bigger difference visually being at 144Hz than going from 1080 resolution to 4k. Just make sure you activate the function for that refresh rate in Windows AND in your graphics software from your card manufacturer because it will no be that way natively. Also to note that this is not a 4k monitor, you seem to think this is one from that comment
  12. Here is a super basic slotting scheme for Rad/Sonic. This build obviously only includes basic invention IOs but here are some priority upgrades to include for this build: ASAP purchase these IOs: Stamina: Performance Shifter +end proc and Performance Shifter EndMod Health: Numina's Convalescence Regeneration/Recovery and Miracle +Recovery These 4 IOs will make a HUGE difference to your endurance recovery situation and they are all relatively cheap to buy, between 2 and 5 million inf each. Once you have these, save up to get Panacea +Hitpoints/Endurance for your 3rd slot in Health. Panacea is much more expensive at 10 mill than the others but it is well worth it. After you have Health and Stamina sorted, you can go on to various Single Slot IOs that will help you survive: Reactive Defences Scaling Resist Damage Unbreakable Guard +Max HP Steadfast Protection Resistance/+3% Def Aegis Psionic/Status Resistance Impervious Skin Status Resistance Gladiator's Armor TP Protection +3% Def (All) Shield Wall Res (Teleportation) +5% Res (All) Luck of the Gambler Defence/Increased Global Recharge Speed (You can fit 5 of these in your build) The best way to get money to buy these IOs for your build is to convert Merit Rewards to cash using the Merit Vending Machine to buy Enhancement Boosters and selling those on the Auction house. Doing this will get you around 25 million inf per 100 Merit tokens. Just find groups and join Task Forces and you should be able to amass them fairly quickly (roughly 25-50 per TF depending on which you are doing). Just make sure you are varying which you do because you only get full Merits once per day for each TF, after the first its half for every time in the same day Hero Plan by Mids' Reborn : Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 https://github.com/ImaginaryDevelopment/imaginary-hero-designer Click this DataLink to open the build! 13. When I do that sort of thing in solo I up the player count just to have bigger spawns because I like seeing the orange floating numbers all over the place. As long as I'm hitting my max targets with my AoEs it's almost the same clear time if there are 3 mobs in a spawn and if there are 7-8
  14. But then you get aggro and die. Probably not with this guy's build but I was unwilling to spend 500mill on a build for my bot just to auto cast howl
  15. I really just play my Pocked Def as a 100% passive character, like if I'm letting go of the steering wheel of my main DPS character to go push some buttons on a defender, I'm for sure not gaining any damage output and most likely losing out
  16. According to Mids, which may or may not be 100% accurate, regular procs deal 71.75 damage at 3.5PPM and purple procs deal 107.1 damage at 4.5PPM
  17. You will get significantly more influence when playing a +4/8 difficulty. For example, I AFK farm all day on my Brute while I work away on my office computer it's pretty laid back and I don't optimize my play time, sometimes I can just be sitting in an empty mission for 15-20 mins while I am on a roll at work. At the end of the day I usually make around 300million inf profit. Sales of recipes and materials are roughly around half of that total. It's totally worth it if you are able to run at +4/8. That being said, if your clear speed is really slow at +4/8 it's not worth it to slow down and do it at that difficulty, you have to find the right balance for your build to get the most rewards possible
  18. You could strip a LOT out of that build and it would still function exactly as it should. AoE def cap is the priority here since if you are invisible it is the only thing that will affect you. Keep in mind that when Invisibility is turned on you deal 50% less damage, used to be that you could only affect yourself when using that power but it was changed last year to the -50% dmg mark allowing you to even buff other while having it toggled on. If you plan on playing it as a fully passive bot, things like Miracle, Performance Shifter, the Luck of the Gambles IOs aren't useful too much. Also the damage procs you have will only cause to to lose stealth and get aggro, the idea is to never do any offensive actions so that you stay in invisibility all the time. All in all though that build will get you to where you want to be as a bot though. Mine isn't even slotted and she is still super useful at what she does and she only rarely dies it's a little more micromanaging to keep her out of AoE range but I have 2 monitors with one instance on each so it isn't THAT bad
  19. I ran a Sonic/lolwhocares pocket Defender for good while. Sonic is a very hands off set that does well as a bot. You have the +res bubble and the +res shields that are nice but the real deal here is the -res aura that you can stick on your beater that never needs refreshing and has a super long range (70ft iirc). Just pick up Invisibility so that your bot is never detected and run all the leadership toggles, the bubble and Disruption Field. If your build is adequate you might not even need the 2 +res shields making it the perfect bot that you never need to touch once you have set up your buffs and followed somebody. Only problem is that if you stick it on a melee character the bot will end up taking collateral AoE damage so if it isn't at least def cap it will die easily. When I would farm with this character I would just hover over the center of the map and Distuption Field had enough range to cover the whole map
  20. You can rename characters right in the character select screen
  21. You need to be really committed to the character for that though because you need to rebuy all the enhancements for your second build. At that point, I rather just roll another character and get it slotted
  22. I like Storm best on a Controller. What happens with the Tornado is that it wanders around and chases enemies and enemies try to run away from it resulting in a lot playing tag and not a lot of damage. Secondly with Lightning Storm since it is in a static location the enemies that are running away from your Tornado with get out of range of it. I am currently running it as an Earth/Storm controller and it is really fun to play. Both sets pair well together because both sets have a ton of knockdown (with KB>KD of course) and as a Controller you can keep the enemies immobilized in place to get maximum uptime on your Tornado. Earth has Earthquake which spams knockdowns on everything in the zone and you add on top to that Gale and the Tornadoes and all the enemies are doing is belly flopping in place. I chose Psionic Mastery as my EPP to get the second Tornado which also serves as an attack power I can spam since it has a really low CD and Indomitable Will is helpful to get out of CC.
