In a city with war walls all over the place, they could easily put up force fields to contain the launch area and probably briefly over parts of the city as an emergency protocol where debris from an exploding rocket might fall.

What would you change or add in a City of Heroes sequel?
Player2 replied to Disruptor's topic in General Discussion
Ooh, ooh... better vocalizations. We don't exactly have much right now beyond when jumping and that generic vocalization with taunt, but I'm thinking just two or three generic sets of basic vocalizations for things like jumping, taunting, shouting, a couple cries of pain for getting hit, and maybe a death cry; and like my suggestion above a couple of customization options to alter those basic noises for each character by modifying pitch and tone (maybe reverb too). Like 3 voices (male, female, and something more monstrous) with 2 or 3 sliders to add a little more personality to each individual. Oh, and one more thing: animated faces! I want to see eyes blink (and close when characters die), and maybe open mouth for things like breathing fire, sonic attacks, or when making those vocalizations mentioned above. -
Agreed. I only counted because I noticed some of the duplicates and, because I have all my characters organized on a spreadsheet I was able to re-order them to see how many of what specific combos I had done. It's definitely not about "These are my favorite powerset combinations, let's see how many times I can recreate them." Side note: Favorite powerset is Storm Summoning (used on a dozen different characters), while most used Primary has been Symphony Control... probably because when it was new I went a little crazy creating alts to see how it worked with various different secondary combinations. Symphony/Storm has been a whole lot of fun, but Symphony/Savage Assault has been my favorite symphony combo.

I have a few that are very different concepts, including being one hero and the other villain... but some are just the same alignment and even the same power pools with little more than name & costume to differentiate them. For example, one of my DP/Martial blasters is a cop... another is a villain named Anarchy Grrl, and the third is a plain-looking civilian type vigilante named Perfectly Ordinary.

This topic is clearly for the rampant altaholics out there, but have you ever created an entirely new character with AT and powerset combos you've already played? Was it intentional, like trying a different build or one of those Jeckyll/Hyde split persona one character over two different builds kind of thing? Apparently I've done it more than I realized. Here's a breakdown of my dupes: Out of 44 blasters, I have 3 Dual Pistols/Martial Combat (levels 34, 30, and 12) 2 Fire Blast/Fire Manipulation (levels 35 and 6) 2 Water Blast/Mental Manipulation (levels 40 and 28) Out of 33 brutes, I have 2 Electric Melee/Dark Armor (levels 50 and 30) 2 Martial Arts/Willpower (levels 29 and 9) 2 Titan Weapons/Bio Armor (levels 32 and 31) Out of 41 controllers, I have 2 Gravity Control/Time Manipulation (levels 38 and 27) 2 Illusion Control/Radiation Emission (both level 42) 2 Illusion Control/Storm Summoning (levels 42 and 37) 2 Illusion Control/Time Manipulation (levels 21 and 9) 2 Mind Control/Kinetics (levels 43 and 7) 2 Plant Control/Time Manipulation (levels 8 and 7) Out of 13 corruptors, I have 3 Water Blast/Poison (levels 37, 27, and 21) Out of 22 defenders, I have 2 Traps/Assault Rifle (levels 6 and 10) Out of 24 dominators, I have 2 Dark Control/Dark Assault (levels 42 and 35) 2 Gravity Control/Martial Assault (levels 39 and 6) 2 Mind Control/Martial Assault (levels 36 and 35) 3 Mind Control/Psionic Assault (levels 34, 27, and 22) 2 Symphony/Martial Assault (levels 35 and 25) Out of 15 masterminds, I have 2 Beasts/Nature Affinity (levels 23 and 6) 2 Necromancy/Pain Domination (levels 36 and 28) Out of 45 scrappers, I have 2 Savage Melee/Bio Armor (levels 32 and 27) 2 Savage Melee/Ninjitsu (levels 40 and 27) 2 Staff Fighting/Ninjitsu (levels 36 and 29) 4 Street Justice/Super Reflexes (levels 50, 32, 32, and 25) 2 Street Justice/Willpower (levels 40 and 32) 2 Titan Weapons/Ninjitsu (levels 29 and 6) Out of 15 sentinels, I have no duplicate combos Out of 21 stalkers, I have 2 Savage Melee/Regeneration (levels 28 and 25) Out of 23 tankers, I have 2 Shield/Broad Sword (levels 28 and 6) 2 Willpower/Super Strength (levels 50 and 26) I also have an assortment of Widows, Soldiers of Arachnos, and Kheldians... but those are more limited in powerset choices so I chose not to count them. Mind you, all of this is just on Excelsior... I have many more on Torch, some of them specifically recreations of the exact same character but with slightly different builds to try out alternative power choices without messing with the original characters.

I'm going to assume "shards" was the intent. Personally, I started on Excelsior and once friends started joining the game several months late and informed me they all pretty much dedicated their time to Torchbearer, I spent a good portion of my time moving characters over there and was solidly entrenched by middle of 2020. I left several characters behind on Excelsior because I their names (as well as what I'd consider as acceptable replacements) were already taken on Torch. By late 2021, my friends' interest had started to wane and they moved on to other things, and it seemed like the general population had shifted to Excelsior and so I started moving my characters back. Surprisingly, I was able to retain most of my names. (Yay!) I lost a few, one or two because I foolishly gave them away by suggesting them to others thinking I'd not be back. Damn my lack of foresight! Of course, I've left a number of characters behind on Torch, mostly newer creations, because of the name availability issue... but if the population shifts again, I can always start playing with them while considering which (if any) to move again. Not sure I'll commit to any major roster moves again. For reference, at one point I had as many as 500 characters on Torch and eventually trimmed that back to 300. I currently have a roster of about 300 on Excelsior. Point is, I have more than enough characters that I can play on either shard, but I generally maintain a focus on just one at a time. Mostly because if I'm playing and want to jump into something else because I saw an open invite in the LFG channel or hear about costume contests or other goings on in General channel, it's all about the shard I'm currently in. The other shards are alternate realities to me, and one reality at a time is enough for my limited attention span.

Excelsior has the most people, so Excelsior is going to have the most variety of play styles and themes. Excelsior has become the everything server... which is what all the servers should be. I agree with TraumaTrain above, stop putting labels on things. People will do what they want and may end up making those labels obsolete or outright wrong.

Damageable environments so we can break through walls (or those damned invincible tree tops in Perez Park). Vehicles, including drivable cars and motorcycles from which some or all powers can be used from, as well as more zone transit ideas (hailing a cab was mentioned previously). A powers system that gave more control over both the look and function of powers. For example, give players a generic blast set with the 9 tiers of powers and some basic function (base damage as well as single target, cone, AOE, PBAoE, etc) baked in, but then give the players option to choose damage type and secondary effects (including bonus damage/DoT, confuse, -DEF, hold, immobilize, KB, KD, -RES, self-heal, stun, etc). So if you want to make an attack that looks like fire but deals ice damage and lowers target's resistance, BOOM! Make it. You want tranq bullets? Take a gun attack and have it deal toxic damage and slow the target. You'd still have a core AT powerset build to give people a structure that helps prevent self-gimping, but a lot more creative ideas could be realized. -
Incorrect. Plenty is funny, but nothing is PERMITTED to be funny without some kind of punishment, the least of which is having the offending funny removed.

Recently created a stone/stone stalker called The Sneaky Stoner... she's dressed like a cross between Jason Mewes' Jay and Kevin Smith's Silent Bob, and her power effects have a greenish lava look to the effects. And she's constantly smokin' a blunt.
-
You can lighten or darken the background to make things stand out more. In this case, going darker probably would be the way to go.
-
It also patches up my cooking fairly well.

Finally got some inspiration for a stone stalker... The Sneaky Stoner Stone Melee / Stone Armor Stalker

Stoner stalker? Stalker stoner? Either way, that amuses me.

I paid a visit (finally) to the new Tiki lounge in Talos Island, and I was just wondering... When are we going to get access to these masks?

I had a Fire/Energy blaster on Live that I really wanted to like. I think I only had like 4 or 5 powers tops from primary powerset (Fireblast, Rain of Fire, Aim, and Blaze) and I focused heavily on the energy melee and pool powers to make a blapper. But she just wasn't sturdy enough and it was always a chore. Game shuts down, there was a lot of sadness and emptiness, then Homecoming showed up with sentinels. Forget blapping, I embraced the shorter range fire attacks for the added durability of fiery aura, and that character became one of my top 5 and and my second level 50.

Stone melee stalker seems really dumb?

At the very least, they should give us Shoulder Pigeon as a costume option.

SCP-426 I am a toaster. You are a toaster.

I don't think the trainers should be used as tailors. They should just remove that function and leave tailoring to the actual tailors.

If only...

I will be waiting... to ignore them. 😁

Just the minis.

No one. Nothing happened. Just don't like dumb munchkin junk. You enjoy your dumb munchkin junk, though. I always swing for the fences. I'm awesome that way. And you call the mini costumes what you like and so will I. Ugly. Dumb.
