  1. It's a very handy emergency button, or an alternative to stealth, in some way. I found it a little hard to get used to it on my force fielder, but in general it's an insurance against xp debt, or being downed. When my health drops too much I press that and flee away in relative safety, then come back for revenge. :P I would definitely advise taking it, even if you are not wrong, it's essentially optional. But it can be quite useful.
  2. For roleplay or civilian stuff you could always create an alternate alt who has all the costumes and the same face but without the backpack. Or even more than one if you want a larger wardrobe. It's probably a quicker personal fix at least for the time being.
  3. On mids it says masterminds can select personal force field at level 16? Not sure why mastermind power order was altered. Corruptors right now have the same progression of defenders, except defenders can pick between their T1 and T2 because force fields is their primary. But in general for secondaries it has always been that way, you get the first power of your secondary whether you like it or not.
  4. So, I had been using soul noir theme on my dark/dark corruptor, and I noticed that after acquiring moonbeam, for which I had selected the soul noir alt animation, during the fights it messed up the animations of my other attacks. Specifically I had the standard soul noir animations for dark blast and gloom, however, often after starting the fight with moonbeam (soul noir alt animation) the subsequent attacks with gloom and dark blast used as well the soul noir alt animations. The only way to have them display the standard soul noir animations that I found was to set moonbeam too to the standard soul noir animation. Also, the messing up of the other animations did not happen 100% of the time, although it happened most of the time, most often when I started the fight with moonbeam.
  5. My perception is that some sets have not aged well and reflect the time they were developed in. It's not necessarily something dramatical or that one cannot work around with relative ease, but in general some older powersets imho need an update or to be brought on par with the current state of the game. The case is most striking for ninja and stalkers, where being the first iteration of the set they get a power (smoke flash) that given how stalkers currently work is plain pointless. And probably was pointless even back then judging from what the old guides say and that such power can actually be obtained via day job. In contrast the other melee archetypes get KB protection at the same level stalkers get smoke flash. Can't comment for dark armor and fiery aura since I have no experience with them, but the logic behind the reasoning is sound. Sometimes in order to normalize an unbalance you need to give some small buffs to underperformers, as the poster above me has just explained.
  6. They certainly can, but in my experience the overwhelming majority of builds, not even just melee, often put in there combat jumping, since its usefulness is by all means not limited to the immobilization protection. I would rather say the immob in cj is icing on the cake.
  7. Plenty of melee builds that skip combat jumping, yeah. Come on.
  8. Seriously is that Ninja for stalker was developed on live and they gave them that placate and leaving them that hole in a set that covers pretty nicely many other things. But in general, doing all the same as another set with fewer powers is not a bad thing in itself, in fact pretty much builds into flexibility, so indeed I stand by my statement. And "in my words" it's not an "almost" skip, it's a skip period, at least as far as its mechanical value is concerned. edit: to be clear, here the flexibility is simply not there, you just have a free power slot to fill with a power that does more or less, actually less, the same. So not a big deal, but nowhere near great, simply passable.
  9. And stalker has practically a must-skip power instead, smoke flash, so they can use the power slot to grab acrobatics if they want to.
  10. Give that infamy to charity. There's many newbie villains in need of infamy out there... And well, it's actually a cool idea and does not sound too complicated. I have seen something similar in some other MMOs. :)
  11. Upvote for the one handgun powerset idea and the bayonet stab. It's a shame only Arachnos soldier offers option for melee attacks with rifles and that no powerset offers support for pistol whip and the like.
  12. If you don't like AE farming don't do it, seriously. I am new and did not like the idea of AE farming myself for several reasons, I prefer to play story arcs because they offer more varied content and thus they let me learn how to play my character through trial and error. On the other hand I like the idea that there are faster ways to go at it, should I want to, such as AE, DFB, etc. Not to mention that Architect content allows not only to make farms but also to make serious story content.
  13. Also paralytic poison could use a non-dart animation in my opinion. More in general, anyway, the poison powerset could use alternative animations for many if not most of its powers. It feels kinda limited compared to other powersets that have many alternate animations, and this is made even more striking by the fact that poison can be released and transmitted in multiple ways, not just by mouth, hand, etc.
  14. Well, in both cases you had the option to spare them but chose not to, so perhaps you are indeed cut for villainy. 😛 I suggest you try perhaps the traditional starting contact with your next redside toon, they are much less extreme in that regard. Also the Dr. Graves arcs are pretty badass and without villainous moral choices. Actually they were pretty tame, but still hella fun.
  15. In order to access Praetorian content for levels 1-20 you need to create a Praetorian character of the correct alignment. On a Primal character you can access that content either via Ouroboros or by being invited by a Praetorian character (except for single player missions).
  16. In mids it gives 9. Anyway acrobatics plus a single anti-KB IO will be a pretty thorough protection from most knockbacks in the game, totalling a good 13. Alternatively a similar effect could be achieved with 3 IOs.
  17. Adding some alternative animations for martial assault moves would definitely not hurt. Right now martial arts, the melee attack set, already has several more brawler-style alternative animations. Most people ignore them because at that point you can take street justice or the fighting pool, but they are definitely there. I am all for extending alternative animations to powersets that could really benefit from them so that they could service new concepts.
  18. Heat mastery in my opinion could really use a fire shield.
  19. Quite ironically at the moment Grandville and many of the Rogue Isles are much less gloomy than their hero equivalents. Most of them are just a little darker than usual, but not by much, while Grandville, on the other hand is pretty bright compared to the current state of the rest of the game. That said, yeah, I find the continuous night time for one month a tad excessive, personally. The world is nice because it is varied and the day-night cycle added depth to the game, even if it was a bit too fast for my tastes. It's certainly fitting for the Halloween atmosphere, but on the other hand it is not that I am going to play Halloween content every day for one month straight. Praetoria is affected as well, same as Paragon City. I would say it's a smidge less dark in comparison, but it's still a far cry from the shining bright appearance Nova Praetoria and Imperial City have in daytime. Neutropolis on the other hand is cooler at night.
  20. Honestly I would love all costumes to be made permanent, like some of the expensive vanity pets or travel options at the P2W vendor.
  21. On my first character I did not use enhancements till level 22-25 and it was just rough, very rough, especially for the accuracy. On my new character, a defender, I have so far slotted a set of TO at level 7, then switched to DO at level 12 and replaced them at 17 again, and at 22 I am planning to go for level 25 IOs and then keep them till level 50. The early levels in Praetoria have been much smoother with enhancements, although the most useful have been by far the accuracy ones, and to a lesser extent endurance modifications in stamina and endurance reduction in endurance heavy toggles. Recharge also is not too bad either, while damage is certainly not useless but not the best bang for one's buck at early levels.
  22. Depends on the alt, most have a casual and formal outfit, sometimes more than one. My main however has basically 8 suits of clothes and three completely different costumes. Most of the others are similar, but there are a pair of outliers, one who does not have true costumes but clothes, including a pair of alternate timeline clothes, and another who has aura and color swaps, in addition to a completely different clockwork exoskeleton. Sometimes I even make variants of the same basic costumes, for instance I have a witch with one costume like the basic witch costume and two more elaborations of it.
  23. Also, always check yellow recipes on the black market. It happened to me more than once to find orange recipes that sold for a comparable sum to the generic merchants, and on the other hand yellows that went on the auction house for millions.
  24. In truth hidden names are not truly hidden, you can see them if you select the critter with the cursor, or hover on them, kinda like player character and enemy names for those who have the options hidden. Ironically right now you can hide the custom names for critters, seeing only the generic names, but not the name tag. Personally I would love for pet names just to behave as player names.
