temnix Posted March 23 Posted March 23 By a passing tanker. Here, I wrote a poem about it: As the man with a mace strapped to his back leaps high, The seagulls try to peck at his eyes. As he comes down, He hears the grumbling of NPC stomachs: The microflora is rising up in arms. 1 4 1 1
biostem Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Is there an echo or something? Just turn off your taunt aura... 2 1 1
Rudra Posted March 23 Posted March 23 As long as you have an aura that does damage to the grey mobs or debuffs the grey mobs or just taunts the grey mobs, they will attack. If you don't want them to? Either avoid them or turn off your auras until you actually need them. You've been told this already on the other thread where you brought this up. 1 1
temnix Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 (edited) The only "aura" that my character has got on that might do this is Evolving Armor. And I don't care to turn it off and on again all the time. I shouldn't have to. I'm not fighting greys, in fact, THEY are not willing to fight me and react to me, by definition. But even before I learned that power my tanker used to aggravate mobs much farther out than my scrapper. Edited March 23 by temnix 2 1

Since you mentioned Bio Armor, are you sure that you don't have Genetic Contamination toggled on? I feel like there's some part of the equation that is missing, here...

Auras in Tanker Bio Armor that can trigger grey mobs to attack: Evolving Armor available at level 12 Genetic Contamination available at level 22 10 minutes ago, temnix said: And I don't care to turn it off and on again all the time. I shouldn't have to. That is your choice to make. However, as long as even grey mobs are affected by any of your powers, they will immediately go active against you. It doesn't matter if you are level 50+3 and they are level 1, if an enemy is affected by anything from your character that is not flagged to not cause aggro, then those enemies will attack you. And if it debuffs the enemies (other than -Perception) or damages the enemies, it will never be flagged to not cause aggro. 14 minutes ago, temnix said: I'm not fighting greys, in fact, THEY are not willing to fight me and react to me, by definition. Saiyajinzoningen Posted March 23 Posted March 23 @temnix did you know that in order to be sneaky you ALSO have to turn off your taunt aura? powers like invis, stealth etc.... wont work properly with a taunt aura on. so to recap if you don't want foes to notice you turn off the aura whether they are grey, purple or somewhere in-between 1 Its easy to criticize a suggestion but can you suggest an alternative?

I'd imagine people generally aren't keen to let someone just stand next to them emitting painful flames, darkness, icicles, etc.
American Decoy Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Is there a power that you can get from the START vendor for free to toggle your powers to only affect your self? I have never used it. It sounds like the answer to the op problem, unless the op desire is to hit non-grey while leaving grey standing. I would not want to make every player's taunts not hit grey mobs. What if you need to taunt greys for a hunt?

However, from the sound of it, the author will not want it because it still requires being turned off and on to be used like his/her/their Tanker auras. I could be wrong though.
temnix Posted March 23 Author Posted March 23 The only reaction this post requires is a fix from the developers to exclude taunt powers' effects on greys. And I'm not doing anything special to fight them. I don't even approach them with the Evolving Armor on. They smell it from long yards away. I don't go around invisible either. I could take invisibility, but not seeing myself all the time I walk across town is a steep price to pay for being left alone, especially if that wouldn't even work. And, as I said, before I picked up that power I still had trouble avoiding enemies, probably because of the Tanker's special autopower. How would that be fixed? Easily with greys, with others - perhaps no mobs should be taunted by these side effects outside of combat. 1 5
PoptartsNinja Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Gauntlet only applies if you actively hit something, the punchvoke has no effect if you're not punching things. Evolving Armor has an 8 foot radius, that's roughly 3 yards. If enemy spawns are agroing from farther away, what else are you doing? Are you running around with a SMART vendor buff pet? IIRC those are locked to level 1 to encourage the AI to try to kill them, so they'll agro mobs that are significantly lower level and from much farther away. If you're not running around with your agro magnet buff pet, what mobs are you seeing the agro from? I know one of the Crey bosses is (or was) bugged to agro regardless of level, but I haven't seen that behavior since Page 7 so I'm pretty sure that one was fixed. If there's an enemy spawn with the same problem and it's consistently X enemy group with Y boss in it, that's probably a bug you should report.

Why would they? If you use a taunt ability/aura on a hostile mob, it is supposed to attack you. If you don't want them to, then take steps to keep them from doing so. It's that simple. Edit: "I'm using a taunt effect and it keeps taunting things, make it stop" is not a reasonable request. Edited March 23 by Rudra 1 1 2 1

TheZag Posted March 24 Posted March 24 He suggested this and was already told to turn off his taunt and damage toggles 10 days before this topic. Repeatedly suggesting the same thing is usually a good way to ensure it doesnt happen. Repeatedly suggesting a bad idea is a guarantee since it would never happen anyway. 2
