Regarding Lady Grey's damage proc in Necromancy's Knights; wouldnt Achilis'Heel -resist proc be better overall?

Personally I'd slot both. There's room because you have Soul Extraction as a slot mule for the pet IOs. The -Res is even better when teaming.

* When I was testing the prestige enhancement IOs on Zombie Horde I was level 5 going to level 6. There is no issue with the procs failing for level up.

* I was also able to reproduce the behavior on the test server with a level 5 character. After verifying the knockdown proc was working I leveled the character to 6, dismissed the zombie, trained up, summoned 2 new zombies and confirmed procs had stopped working.

* I dismissed and resummoned the zombies in every case where the slotting was changed. That includes when I dinged 5, trained to 6. Also when I dismissed the zombies, deleted the enhancements and resummoned.

StrikerFox you've got this parser set up already - would you mind taking a few minutes to reproduce my tests?

Test a Zombie Horde at level 5 (1 zombie) with a couple procs, level to 6, dismiss and resummon, and validate? I'm not just interested in the procs firing, but also the damage enhancements just shutting off too.

Also on the test server I tried the same tricks using the Overwhelming Force damage proc - but it worked on everything. So it's entirely possible that it's just these enhancements that are specifically bugged but I'd like to know. Due to local high heat and no air conditioning in my computer room I haven't been able to play for about a week now. :(

See me on Excelsior as Eridanus - Whisperkill - Kid Physics - Ranger Wilde - The Hometown Scrapper - Firewatch - and more!

On sets that have a mule (Gang War), can you slot all 6 of the pet aura IOs or do some of them need to be on an active pet to reap the benefit? In particular, some of them are described as "bonus aura". Does this aura live on the player or on the pet? If so does the benefit only show up when Gang War is active?

Aura IOs are always active.

As to slotting then all in gang war, I'd recommend against it, as gang war is actually useful when slotted to hit, damage, and Recharge. Perhaps 3 aura IOs then framkenslot the remaining three slots for accd/dam in Gang War. Distribute other three aura UOs in your other pets. There might be a better way to do it, I'm not a thugs guy.

Gangwar is a strange power in it's good out of the box but they do die quick and will never be high damage. I personally would 6 slot your aura stuff in there unless your going for double gangwar or something.

I wonder how well it would work to slot Gang War with like, two Acc/Recharge IOs, and then fill the rest with just all the good damage procs you can find...

Far better to slot it out with aura procs and put damage procs in the thugs.

I feel like this needs testing,  because as far as I can tell, when you slot a pet power with procs, each pet gets their own PPM adjusted chance for the proc to trigger... which means on a power that summons like 30 pets, this should trigger the procs A LOT.

Gang War with Soulbound should be tested on a Rikti Pylon. A taunter, standing far away from the pylon's base, get/maintain aggro. MM summons GW. Collect data logs to see what kind of damage they put out. I'm just assuming Soulbound works because I saw some spikes in damage vs the Fake Nemesis near the end of the above data.  But I may be mistaken. Spikes were in Revolver, Automatic Pistol and Rock.

If I'm understand correctly none of the demon pets should be given a damage proc except for the Demon Prince; the usage of the proc IOs for Demons and Demonlings is too low to consider worth the slot?

Would a good setup be to put a Soulbound buildup on the Demons and just Impeded Swiftness on the Demon Prince?

Ninjas (untested)

The Ninjas are already under serious slot pressure. Jounin are the only ones that get a decent number of procs(3 Lady Grey). Might be worth the slot.

Two things that I'm curious about, with regards to putting procs into Ninjas.

The first is that by everything that I can tell, Ninjas didn't just get the short end of the stick with regards to available Sets for their Primary powers (both Pet and otherwise), in some sense they've got almost no stick AT ALL to work with.  I mean, look at this:

Genin = Pet, Recharge Pet, Mastermind, Universal, Knockback sets can be slotted

  • Shuriken = Ranged Damage
  • Thunder Kick = Melee, Stuns
  • Snap Shot (Shuriken) = Ranged Damage
  • Storm Kick = Melee
  • Aimed Shot (Exploding Shuriken) = Ranged Damage
  • Crane Kick = Melee, Knockback

Jounin = Pet, Recharge Pet, Mastermind, Universal, Knockback, ToHit Debuff sets can be slotted

  • Caltrops = Targeted AoE, Slow
  • Hack (Sting of the Wasp) = Melee, Defense Debuff, Accurate Defense Debuff
  • Slash (Gambler's Cut) = Melee, Defense Debuff, Accurate Defense Debuff
  • Disembowel (Soaring Dragon) = Melee, Defense Debuff, Accurate Defense Debuff, Knockback
  • Placate = none
  • Poison Dart = Ranged
  • Head Splitter (Golden Dragonfly) = Melee, Defense Debuff, Accurate Defense Debuff, Knockback
  • Blinding Powder = Confuse, ToHit Debuff, Accurate ToHit Debuff
  • Hide = Defense

Oni = Pet, Recharge Pet, Mastermind, Universal sets can be slotted

  • Fire Blast = Ranged
  • Fire Sword Slash = Melee
  • Fire Sword Hack = Melee
  • Fire Breath = Target AoE
  • Ring of Fire = Ranged, Immobilize
  • Char = Ranged, Hold
  • Rain of Fire = Target AoE

Snap Shot = Ranged Damage, Universal

Aimed Shot = Ranged Damage, Universal

Fistful of Arrows = Target AoE, Universal

Of these limited options, in terms of single most useful investment options, I'm thinking that the following is true for damage related procs (the Pet Aura IOs fall into a slightly different category).

Genin ... Overwhelming Force (6 of 6 attacks) and Soulbound Allegiance (6 of 6 attacks) procs

My rationale here is relatively simple.

There are 3 Genin (eventually).

The Genin use LOTS of attacks.

The recharge times on all of the Genin attacks is relatively short.

This yields LOTS of opportunities for Overwhelming Force and Soulbound Allegiance to proc for you, under the Chuck Lots Of Dice! theory of usefulness.

Jounin ... Achilles' Heel (4 of 9 attacks)

As tempting as it is to slot Overwhelming Force into Jounin (for "Knock Trops") I honestly think you'll get a better return on investment out of Genin on the enforced KD proc ... and because Overwhelming Force is unique, if you can only put it in one place, I'm thinking that Genin is still the better option over Jounin.  The ToHit Debuff sets are "interesting" as options, but given the slot pressure on the Ninja Pets specifically, since the Level 18 power doesn't let you mule Pet Set IOs (or ATOs) into it, I really feel like endorsing use of more than Achilles' Heel in Jounin (aside from Pet Aura IOs) will probably wind up being counterproductive.  If you've got a "sapper build" Secondary however, use of Deflated Ego for the recovery debuff might make for an interesting choice if you're desperate to stack things together for that specific debuff purpose.

(side note: does anyone know how long the Deflated Ego recovery debuff duration is?)

Oni ... Overwhelming Force IF you're not going to put Overwhelming Force into Genin or Jounin but are still determined to slot the Overwhelming Force proc into a Ninja Pet.

For the personal Ninja powerset attacks, the proc options for Snap Shot and Aimed Shot are just really lackluster, with the PPM formula really punishing this power (3.188 second animation plus recharge BASE).  You'd need to have 20 PPM just to get to a 90% chance to proc on power use assuming no recharge reduction from slotting in the power (yeah, right).  Tempest is really lackluster unless you've got a recovery debuffing secondary (and/or have your Jounin slotted with Deflated Ego) to blend it with.  Entropic Chaos suffers the same problem.  Decimation is wandering into the "what's your point" territory.  Devastation offers a chance to Hold that will barely ever proc when slotted into Snap Shot under PPM rules.  Apocalypse and Gladiator's Javelin at least offer damage procs, but again the chance of a proc per attack is going to be really low simply due to the animation+recharge time on Snap Shot when normalized for PPM.  Winter's Bite looks interesting, but only as an alternative to the more expensive Purple set proc options.

Pretty much the same thing applies for Aimed Shot as for Snap Shot ... the only difference is that Aimed Shot takes slightly longer to animate and recharge.  Not a whole lot longer, mind you, but still longer nonetheless.

Fistful of Arrows though is where it gets really interesting on proc options (ironically).  I'd even go so far as to argue that putting an Achilles' Heel proc into Jounin and the Annihilation proc into Fistful of Arrows (for "double" Resistance debuffing opportunities) ALONE is making me want to add Fistful of Arrows to my Ninja Mastermind build(s).  There is, of course, also Positron's Blast proc for Energy damage, while Javelin Volley offers Lethal damage in its proc.  A curious additional option is the Knockdown proc from Ragnarok, for a chance to Knocdown, and/or the Frozen Blast proc for a chance to Immobilize.

Overwhelming Force in Jounin would be a much more attractive option if it weren't for one of the more curious vagaries of pet powers: The fact that pets cast at targets, never at the ground, and that any effects of a power expire instantly should the target die.

So Jounin Caltrops often vanish within seconds. Because they cast them at a specific enemy, and then that enemy died. Poof, no more Caltrops.

If they had Caltrops that works more normally, it'd work much better.

Sudden Acceleration has a KB>KD IO in its set, and isn't Unique/Limited. So go nuts 🙂

The difference is that Sudden Acceleration modifies powers that ALREADY have Knock in them so that the Knock MAG is limited enough to only be KnockDOWN.

Sudden Acceleration does not ADD any Knock to a power that doesn't already have any.

Overwhelming Force WILL ADD Knock to a power that doesn't have any Knock to it natively.

So in a Pet attacks context, you want to put Overwhelming Force into Pets that have:

  1. A lot of attacks
  2. A lot of attacks with short recharge times (so they use them "often")
  3. Few attacks that do Knockback/down natively
  4. A lot of Pets get summoned for that Tier, resulting in a Chuck Lots Of Dice!! throughput maximizing the chances the proc will happen via multiplication

By contrast, you'd want to put Sudden Acceleration into Pets that have:

  1. Multiple attacks with a KnockBACK (not KnockDOWN) component built into them already

I agree with this assessment 😁

The slotting for jounin is brutal - they deal good dmg so you want to cap out their dmg, you also want an achilles heel proc, and they're the only ones really worth adding lady grey/siege breakers procs to. I struggled heavily slotting enforcers, and those don't have a looming threat of having to carry pet auras.

Slotting procs into MM attacks isn't that bad, as long as your secondary (like /time) allows you to cycle through them reliably(unlike /dark or /traps). It's probably more worth it to slot a proc than boost the damage of an attack - some napkin math tells me that cycling aimed shot yields ~6 dps whereas without any global recharge you expect a 3.5 ppm at around 80 dmg proc to produce ~4.5 dps, so you'd be better off slotting a proc than a dmg IO. If you can 1) spare the skill slot and 2) spare the cast time, then it's not a bad addition to your build.

Unfortunately "ranged damage" contains some of the worst sets for what MMs want, as you went over them. At least you can slot in something like explosive strike into dual wield. Necromancy gets some of the best in this regard - gloom has by far the highest DPA of all MM skills, and has a nice secondary effect to boot, AND its recharge is long enough that you're not stuck spamming it all the time to get the benefit out of procs. I would probably frankenslot that with a variety of procs, or maybe even go for a 5 siphon insight + 1 cloud senses, because siphon insight's set bonuses are sick.

Oh god, all thosei Overwhelming Force procs... That's just freaking hilarious. ALL THE KNOCKDOWNS.

Shame that, when I actually checked what could be slotted in Gang War, I realized that there aren't any damage procs that can be put in it  😞

Yeah,  Does Soulbound Allegiance affect the pets?   If so..  Imagine if the MM  was a Thugs/Kinetics.   Fulcrum Shifted Posse + Soulbound Chance for Build up + Overwhelming Force knockdowns.   Would be fun to see.

Just a note for any MMs looking at procs in secondaries, there is a thread on the Defender forum, "Proc Monsters, the New Offenders" where there is a lot of actual data on that, especially for Traps, which has a lot of odd "pet type" powers with unpredictable interactions with procs.

From what I've heard it's not difficult to cap damage with /kin, so that portion of the soulbound proc is wasted.
