I have a email to myself from when I first started and just reply to that whenever I need to mail inf, enhancements , or whatever. So all I need to do is scroll to the top of my emails and hit reply and never worry about typos.

What you folks need is to look at influence like it's real cash. I promise you, you would never be so careless with actual cash.

I've sent 1 inf shy of billions to my alts and others...well, hundreds of times. It's never gone to the wrong person.

The only time I ever took any particular care was when I was trying to help some noob who, as noobs like to do, created a global name with numbers that look like letters. Foolish people. Not only is "leet" speak silly, it also inhibits the senders of inf to your global.

I see names like HO0ver, and in game, I'll have a rough time determining which is the capital o and which is a zero.
It's my big strike against folks trying to be creative with their global names.

Remember folks - treat inf like it's real cash, and then you can wisely decide if you really need that microfilament, or just use +5 run/end quickfoot.

I have noticed a lot of quirks in the mail system but rather than post in a bug thread I will put it here.

Especially when I was doing my giveaway, I noticed that email was not consistent across servers.  For example, if I had been playing solely on Excelsior for a while and addressing all the email requests, if I switched to a different server like Reunion I would get a back log of unanswered emails from days/weeks/months earlier.  It’s the same global, but I’m not sure the mail is sent or received the same way across all servers.

Not a bad idea.

That said, and I've no idea how much nasty coding this would take, I'd love for a checkbox to be added to the email process whereby it just fills in my global, just to keep from mistyping anything.  That or (and I realize this is even more coding) a drop down list option where I could add, say, my top 3 addresses to which I email.  That way I could quickly select my alt account(s) as well, or send to a BFF consistently.

I would also like to send multiple items at once. One of the biggest game improvements to be made in my opinion.

and yet.

oh well.

anybody got a billion or two you can throw an old vampires way?  (this was a significant chunk of my liquidity...i alt a lot)

You think the devs can reimburse you? I mean they’re legit seeing it in the account, so why not just refund it?

Also I think you’re well n truly cursed. All that PuG complaining brought a curse upon your account 😂

i thought you were supposed to send any lost inf!  don't you end up with it all anyways?

This is why I always add a merit into the mail with the inf, because it’s account bound. So it always goes to the correct account.

Be grateful it even works at all. I was talking to a dev a long time ago now and he said he looked at the system to see if he could change it to work better then when he saw the code he backed away quietly so as not to spook it 😛

You can simulate this by dropping a Reward Merit into the attachment field of a blank email. Since those can ONLY be sent to yourself, it auto-populates the recipient field with your correctly spelled global. After that, just drag the Merit back out.

the email system is simple.  you should check the code for anniversary celebrations!

I keep global mail in my accounts in the in box and simply reply to it, changing the subject line, when I send stuff and always to the global not the individual character.

Glad you got it back, Snarkums.

I remember once mailing to the wrong person by typoing. Fortunately they were online and nice and when I asked they sent it back. Very nice of them.

Then there was this time I was in front of the AE and someone tries to trade me. I usually cancel these but on a whim accepted. They start transfering chunks of of something... Not sure if merits or catalysts, but we're talking chunks. I cancel, they try to trade again, I cancel, they do it again. Aghast I accept the trade and that obscene sum of wealth.

....a minute later someone sheepishly whispers me saying they through they were transfering to their alt account and if they could have it back 😄

I only run into a problem if I use the mail while in a base.  There are times I would email myself money and it would be in some global queue.  I could resolve it by simply sending myself another email outside of base but it did spook me as I had switched characters one time and didn't notice the issue for a few days

This was done in a base…

Sounds like Snarky Entanglement.  Snarky is both rich and poor until he leaves the base and we can measure it.  Or Snarky's Cat,  a famous thought experiment that demonstrates the idea in quantum physics that Snarky's particles can be in two states at once until they're observed after leaving a base.  Snarky is both alive and dead

Are we talking pre- or post-inflation?

There's a fine line between a numerator and a denominator but only a fraction of people understand that.
