Hello!

On April 28th, 2004, the game we all know and love, City of Heroes™ was released to the public. 21 years later, we here at Homecoming, alongside all of you, the players, are keeping the City alive and stronger than ever.

In commemoration of the 21st anniversary (and the fact that City of Heroes is now old enough to drink in Rhode Island*) this year's anniversary badge (picture above) is titled Cheers!. It will be awarded to any and all characters that log in from today until May 31st. Luna's shop for all the previous anniversary badges will be open throughout the month of May. This year's anniversary event is being activated right now, and will continue for four weeks until Tuesday, May 27th. We can't wait to celebrate with everyone!

Thank you all for your six years of support. We hope this coming year will be the biggest year for Homecoming yet!

*Disclaimer: in spite of the badge title, the Homecoming team does not recommend drinking while playing City of Heroes and does not take any responsibility for any horrific mistakes you might make while doing so.

I was there in those early days following go-live.  It was the first MMO I had ever played, and I was hooked from the start.

What was no more, is REBORN!

I'm glad I found this game again.  I freely admit that back when it first got cancelled, I was actually fine, because back then I had gotten everything I wanted out of it.

But now?  I am enjoying all it has to offer once again, and I'd also like to offer my thanks to all involved for allowing to come back legally.  I plan on playing this for as long as it exists.

It wasn't my first, but it was the one I played the most.

I had several characters, but the moment they came out with Willpower, I know that I could remake the hero I wanted.  Dauntless II,

I'd started playing EverQuest in '98, but in 2004 when I heard there was a new superhero MMO coming out one of my EQ guildmates and I started eagerly awaiting it's release. From Brell Serilis on EverQuest to Virtue on City of Heroes (and now Everlasting on City of Heroes: Homecoming.)

I played my first game, first MMO in January of 2006. City of heroes. During the years since I may have come and gone, but CoH is my first, best MMO love. Happy anniversay and thank you HC Team for all you do.

I just feel sad for Americans having to wait until 21 before they can raise a glass to City of Heroes. The rest of us were holding drunken street parties 3 years ago 🙂

I'm quite capable of making horrific mistakes without drinking!

That and 21 years later, I definitely drink a lot less...

Thanks for bringing back the only MMO I ever really played.

Happy 21st Anniversary to all! 🥳🎉

THANK YOU to everyone—devs, community, and all others involved—for keeping City of Heroes (Homecoming) ALIVE! City of Heroes is and will always be my favorite MMO!

It is good to be home in City of Heroes and reconnect with friends from the good old days on live, and make new friends along the way. 😊

Happy Anniversary one and all! 😁
This year is even more special, as it is the first Anniversary when HC is a fully licenced game too! So from the bottom T's heart, to the community, the Dev's, and everyone who has (and continues) made this very game of our's so wonderful. It is truly a blessing to still be here after all this time, and everyone should raise their glasses in cheers and a toast to everyone, and I do mean Everyone, who has made all this possible. I love you all... yes, even you Sir @Snarky, you snaggletoothed Vampire you'z! 😝

We used to rule the world, we gave it up as it was habit forming

True story, due to my exposure to such things early on, when I returned to the US I thought that Beer was 18 and Hard stuff was 21. 😛

21 years! Hard to believe it's been that long! I started playing maybe a month after launch, when Issue 1 was being teased. Proud to be a part of the most passionate MMO community. Here's to 21 more years!

Thank you for bring back a great game that we all deeply and truly love.

I gave up subscribing a year before the Sunset. I hated the way the game was going. Microtransactions even for subscribers! What tha...!

So I was very glad to see THE CITY back and I think it is even better than it ever was on "live".

Thank you so much for that.

I don't get to donate often, but when I see the that the donations aren't coming in  ... I pitch in to save OUR CITY.

If someone posts a reply quoting me and I don't reply, they may be on ignore.

(It seems I'm involved with so much at this point that I may not be able to easily retrieve access to all the notifications)

Some players know that I have them on ignore and are likely to make posts knowing that is the case.

But the fact that I have them on ignore won't stop some of them from bullying and harassing people, because some of them love to do it. There is a group that have banded together to target forum posters they don't like. They think that this behavior is acceptable.

Ignore (in the forums) and /ignore (in-game) are tools to improve your gaming experience. Don't feel bad about using them.
