Regular DXP Weekends

I like the idea of a scheduled, rare double XP event.....maybe dropped into an occasional weekend between holiday events. July is coming, maybe that would be a good time for it since our previous "summer event" was the Summer Blockbuster trial and that's become an all-year round standard, so we don't have anything special going on. Bring back the fireworks temp power from New Year's and let people run around popping off to show their approval or disapproval at the increased XP during a 3-day holiday weekend but then it goes away and the people that don't want it can be glad to not have to deal with it again for the rest of the year.

You are still running a zero sum argument. I wouldn't care how many x2 xp weekends there were if there was an option other than 'go elsewhere' or simply don't get xp. There were no considerations for anyone else other than "go elsewhere" until @Greycat pitched the option for 50% xp to counter it.

Hells, if we simply had the option during x2 XP to go to the START vendor and opt out of the x2 XP weekend flat out, that would be great. Instead, we get told "go elsewhere". Like the game isn't for us to play as well.

I wonder instead of a server wide boost that folks can't opt out of, why we couldn't just add more options to the START vendor.   There's no profit motive, so why couldn't we have a 3x, 4x, etc. buff at the vendor.   Gives people more choices but doesn't force people who don't want that to have it.   I'll admit that I thought it was both awesome and kinda sucky to be level 33 after doing DFB, Posi, and Synapse.

Another option for START vendor is a good idea that has been brought up before (to lower xp, not raise it more).

 

You could add in a one half (50%) xp option to START and it'd cancel out the double xp of the event, no?  Been wanting that option regardless for when I do want to just level slower while doing story arcs.  I have a "No XP" macro set up, but it'd be nice not to have to fiddle with it as much.

 

I do think double xp weekends should be fairly rare regardless, otherwise they are no longer an 'event'.

I want to add that there are some people who don’t have the luxury of playing City during the week.  A single parent who has custody of their kid Monday-Thursday only gets Friday-Sunday to play, so if they don’t want double XP and they’re told “just play another time” well… I see a problem with that.

One thought, I'd love to be able to say "Collect XP until this level, then stop"   It would make management of no XP easier.

And who are you to say what player needs to be getting double xp? The example given was someone that doesn't want it but has a set play schedule.

Not everybody is racing to the end, some people enjoy taking the scenic route.

Seriously? That is your response? You are going to post saying another player that per the example does not want double xp needs it like you have any say in the matter at all, and so should by extension/implication have to get double xp despite not wanting it, and then continue like it is a perfectly normal or even acceptable thing to do? Who made you king of double xp to determine who needs it?
