SherpaDagger Posted Saturday at 05:33 AM Posted Saturday at 05:33 AM Knives of Artemis. Largely because of those damnable caltrops. With holds and focused fire, Malta Sappers are nothing.
Riverdusk Posted Saturday at 07:17 AM Posted Saturday at 07:17 AM (edited) Yeah, not understanding the sapper thing. Maybe before they were nerfed and you could have several per group. But no more than one per group can spawn currently, so just don't try to herd multiple malta groups. At worst if I'm on a character that is susceptible to them (if I have bad energy/ranged defense, or no armor with endurance drain protection), I'll set up a bind to target them so I can instantly pick out the one that'll show up. They are minions so they either go down fast or are mezzed fast. Edit: Now if the devs wanted to be truly evil they'd put in some boss level sappers. Honestly, for endurance draining I have more trouble with freakshow super stunners as their end drain is auto-hit and if you are on a melee it isn't always easy to jump away from them in time. My personal choice would be Nemesis for sure, assuming a big enough group where they end up with stacked vengeance. They then blow through your defense and you better hope you have some good AoE attacks because their melee and ranged defense also goes through the roof. Doesn't help that are also confuse resistant and quite a few of my characters rely on confuse (sappers confuse real easy btw 🙂 ). Fake Nems can then bubble up and be annoying, and they also have annoying sniper units that see through stealth and hit you from across the map. Special unusual and very specific call out to rikti monkeys when it comes to my masterminds. Rikti monkey gas causes MM pets to run half way across the map unlike anything else in the game I've seen. I think because the gas lingers on the pet for a good long while even outside the cloud and as long as it does they keep on running. Something like caltrops on the other hand they'll stop running shortly after the patch radius. I have to constantly be hitting the Stay button whenever I run into those stupid rikti monkeys on a MM. Talen Lee Posted Saturday at 12:16 PM Posted Saturday at 12:16 PM I still don't know why the low-level fortunatas (10-15) have the mez protection they do. It's one of the rudest things to deal with as a levelling dominator back in live days, when you were funneled into arachnos plotlines and just got vaporised on the reg by them. 1

Because the retail devs hated red side. 🙂 Seriously it's almost comically how much harder low level red side is that blue. Especially, since you'll be soloing a lot. 1 Night Pixie on Excelsior Introduction to Arachnos Widows - Night/Blood/Fortunata

I tend to get frustrated more by critters that run away (Warwolves, et al.) or become otherwise unhittable. I hated Carnie Illusionists until I had a flash of inspiration: their strategy is a brilliant mitigation tactic. Now I take Phase Shift on all my heroes, get a pack's attention, and then stand there and laugh as their alpha strike passes harmlessly through me.
baster Posted Saturday at 08:28 PM Posted Saturday at 08:28 PM Anything that sucks up, steals or debuffs your endurance. I dislike having to even remember end is part of the game, so ya it's frigging Franken annoying.
Demobot Posted Saturday at 11:35 PM Posted Saturday at 11:35 PM Super Stunners are up there. That AoE rez that drains your end and nukes your recovery is nasty if you're not prepared for it.
Oubliette_Red Posted Sunday at 01:34 AM Posted Sunday at 01:34 AM Rikti monkeys and their explosive flatulence. Sappers, Family boss' Singularities, Rikti Comm Officers and the like? I love all of them... on my Illusionist. Nothing funnier than a Sapper draining his own party, Singularity bouncing his Boss ass-end over tea kettle and the Comm Officer spawning a confused portal. Endless fun. I even hoard Cupid arrows for the same reason. Dislike certain sounds? Silence/Modify specific sounds. Looking for modified whole powerset sfx? MTeague Posted Sunday at 01:36 AM Posted Sunday at 01:36 AM Blast Masters, of the Praetorian <Destroyers> faction, in the 1-20 arcs. Those frackin molotov's are So Annoying.\ They're usually not even that dangerous, but I always priority kill them anyway. 1 .

Maagic Posted Sunday at 02:46 AM Posted Sunday at 02:46 AM I just discovered yesterday that Council Galaxy can teleport you into their melee range. Gotta add that one to the 💩 list
BasiliskXVIII Posted Sunday at 06:01 PM Posted Sunday at 06:01 PM I kind of feel like Crey and Nemesis Snipers belong here, not out of a "oh, this is so hard," perspective, but simply "what are they accomplishing?" They make sense from the early game concept, where you were expected to do a lot of street sweeping, but in the modern game, they're just kind of a sad relic of old game design, only there to punish you if you're in a team in FF or PI and your team leader disconnects. It upsets me because I feel like there should be something that they could do to make them legitimately interesting, but as it stands their primary purpose is to make the word "Miss!" appear over my head periodically while I'm running through FF, CF and PI. But since anything that forces you to stop when you're going from mission to mission is mostly just going to be an annoyance, I can't think of what might function as an improvement. 2
High_Beam Posted Sunday at 06:44 PM Posted Sunday at 06:44 PM Was never a fan of the Goody Mob. I am annoyed by ones that phase. I dislike Sorcerers and Porters because they will sometimes port and say fuck it I'm getting coffee and that is when you realize oh, this is a defeat all. I respect Super Stunners, I think its a great execution of concept and powers, but boy is it annoying. Sappers bug me but not like they used to, a lot was mere OMG panic than actual threat. Girls of Nukem High - Excelsior - Tempus Fabulous, Flattery, Jennifer Chilly, Betty Beatdown, Totally Cali, Two Gun Trixie Babes of War - Excelsior - High Beam (Yay), Di Di Guns, Runeslinger, Munitions Mistress, Tideway, Hard Melody, Blue Aria Many alts and lots of fun. Thank you Name Release For letting me get my OG main back!
StarlessKnight Posted Monday at 10:30 PM Posted Monday at 10:30 PM Anything that pops a T9 power, rendering itself unkillable for X amount of time. I can totally see those types of powers on named enemies, but on random no-name mobs like Paragon Protectors? Tedious. 1 1
Doomguide2005 Posted yesterday at 12:32 AM Posted yesterday at 12:32 AM Totally depends on what I'm playing. Back when multiple Sappers were a thing my Claws/SR had no clue what all the fuss was about. She just made it her mission to eliminate these mysteriously dangerous foes. Then I got my nearly impervious IH toggle running Broadsword/Regen scrapper. Next thing I know I leveled and learned about tp foe. I would stealth up to a spawn and target the sapper. Then moved back next to the exit or elevator and tp them. It either worked and used headsplitter or they would be pulled and come running. If they then drained my scrapper I'd hit the door or elevator and take my now held and drained scrapper away before they killed me. Talk about night and day different.
Paradox Fate Posted yesterday at 02:29 AM Posted yesterday at 02:29 AM Gears from defeated Clockwork Princes. Dislike them ever since Synapse's TF. And Master Illusionists.
twozerofoxtrot Posted yesterday at 02:39 AM Posted yesterday at 02:39 AM Ballistas and their Only Affect Self bubbles. Can vary from mildly annoying to downright catastrophic depending on the team and who gets the tag. Not a huge fan of Paragon Police Khelds. Makes a mess out of anything relying on Def (minus SR) and they frequently rez and/or or shift to Lobster when near dead. And they show up in packs when they do later in the game. 1
Mindghost Posted yesterday at 07:49 PM Posted yesterday at 07:49 PM For me it's anything that kills my accuracy. I know this is mostly a low-mid level problem, but missing is a straight-up fun nullifier.

It's particularly bad, even later in the game, for those of us who aren't defense-based. High defense can avoid a lot of the toHit debuffs that are carried by attacks, but not the ones that are autohit from auras like Hurricane. I end up having to take Focused Accuracy on my resist based melees as it's one of the VERY few sources of toHit debuff resistance in the game.
mistagoat Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Every single toon I make gets a Super Stunner targeting macro and a Surgeon targeting macro at level 1. Don't get me wrong, I hate sappers too but they're easy to find and they die fast. They're usually only a problem if you accidentally aggro a second mob and don't notice until your blue bar is empty. Those damned Super Stunners are just the worst! All bosses so they don't die very fast, they like to fly and stay at range and if you're playing melee and trying to tune one up, they'll drop their -end field on top of you forcing you to move or corner pull and then when you finally beat them, they insta res with a huge auto hit end drain! So frustrating! I always try to Nem Staff them away as a last hit and that works but isn't super reliable. Strangely, despite my hatred of Super Stunners, Freaks in general are one of my favorite factions to fight. +2 KM Yin lfm! SPOON!
BlackSpectre Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Paragon Protectors. Not because they’re hard to beat but because their MOG lasts too long.
