Focused Feedback: Tanker - Archetype Inherent Changes
lemming replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I did a few runs on my Bio/Fire tank to check changes since the powersets weren't as impacted as some of the other powersets (EM too I think) and yea, I did see I was doing less damage, but it wasn't an impact on the feel of how I did missions. The loss in dps may impact solo times a bit, but I don't anticipate much of an impact in team settings. -
I usually don't use them because I rely more on base powers. Granted ones from missions that are of limited use, I rarely make use of. Temp powers that I use are the usual suspects that can be restocked and depends on the character.

Open Lettur from Disgruntled Player regarding Plant Control
lemming replied to Nayeh's topic in Open Beta Testing
Yep. And the patch notes get misinterpreted all the time. Sometimes it's a note not written clearly, or someone zooms in on one aspect without considering the rest of the note. And spinning up a test on Open Beta isn't hard at all, time spent is the biggest hurdle. -
About the relative difficulty of fights in this game vs. others
lemming replied to temnix's topic in General Discussion
Meh. He brings up some decent topics even when he's misinformed and comes off abrasive. I think most people went with it as an idea prompt. Myself, I don't get really challenged by the game play usually, i do it more for futzing around and design stuff, but there's plenty of areas if I want challenge. -
Well yes. Though not in the example I provided (which I may not have clearly labeled as a different slot possibly in a different power) Like I mentioned, it has to do with the upgrade button and refining it a bit. It's limited in scope anyway, but it's a simple change request with probably not a huge code modification. It's just to make it a cost effective method or at least not an overly costly method. Once you hit the 30s, it's way more cost effective to just use IOs. And even before, a level 25 IO outperforms a -3 SO. Level 30 IO is better than an +0 SO, level 35 IO is equal to a +2 SO, and a level 40 IO is always better. So, this is just to make the upgrade button not very punishing for being a very convenient way of upgrading existing SOs on a build. update: Apparently, not as simple of a code mod as I thought. Rethinking how the cost is calculated.

This is really just about the SO upgrade cost and since I'm currently doing an SO only char, I did notice the issue. I can afford it, but there are a few bits that if I wasn't flush, would be more annoying. Where I really see it is if I upgrade to a non divisible by five. Say I have a level 23 char. I put a level 25 enh in somewhere, and then remember I want to upgrade all my lower level enh already slotted. If I hit upgrade, everything goes to level 26 including the brand new level 25. It would have been cheaper to put a level 20 in there as a placeholder before upgrading. Or do the upgrade, then slot the 25.

iirc, the respec fails happen in very detailed bases. I go minimalist with my bases, so never had an issue

Right now, Assassin Strike & Snipe get interrupted by movement (or incoming damage) unless you're in combat and they are in fast mode. Queuing an attack and then moving into range is one tactic. It will also delay an auto power until the queue goes off. A queued power will either go off when conditions are met, or will deselect if it can not, but that deselect happens when it tried to start. Once started, you have whatever animation happens. You can deselect a target with the escape key (or if you have it set to something else) or with /unselect So I suppose you could bind a movement key to also unselect, though iirc that would be a double click and not sure how that will work with movement. I just hit escape.

Just checked my char with the maxed hover, and that is at 58.63. (No idea why I four slotted with hypersonic... Was thinking of a respec anyway...)

when changing Active Builds on a char - QOL change request
lemming replied to Maquinna's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
The char is still a level 50, just trained enough for the purposes stated. -
That was "nerfed" during live. On community, yes, there are some people that suck, some that are just having a bad day, some read the worst possible meaning from anything, but for the most part, the community is good. Just ignore the bits that are bothersome, whether in game, discord, or forums. Most items are able to be solo'd by any character, and almost everything if you have a good build with the right power sets. If you want to team, Excel & Everlasting are fast teaming, And the others, it's usually during the active times. And I think all the servers have some sort of channel which you can monitor even when you're not on that server.

Honestly, I hate respecs. The interface is clunky. I also dislike that a character can't hold all the enhancements and that's it's a pita to move them all into the tray. At least you can take advantage of the quirk of zoning immediately after a respec will restore your trays, mostly. The whole thing could be redesigned, or at least something where you could import a build and the char would be just done. (Good for transfers to beta where you may be using a different account, or just wanting to try a build, etc...)

Is the game harder to learn today than back on live?
lemming replied to Intermipants's topic in General Discussion
Is the game more complicated? No. (well, maybe with IO sets, etc...) Does it have way more information to absorb, yes. I'm constantly needing to recheck stuff because my brain will hold onto some knowledge gained in Beta that has long gone away. -
That really is the greatest thing about it. And the convenience is really the only reason for it being an expensive use. Frankly, it's not a strain on most of the experienced players since they have inf to burn, but for some people it can feed into the being constantly poor.
-
Flight from the flight pool is still better since you can enhance it. (Heck, one of my chars Hover is about as fast as the temp flight) I wouldn't mind more temp powers able to be folded into min effects. And the ability to fold a temp power into one's existing power effects. ie: various temp powers that could reasonably be used with the chars already powers, but I think that may beyond possible. Anyway, I don't think this would break or devalue the flight pool.

Just a guess, but I think that's part of the Skull revamp though not done in the way I would have, but looks like that storyline is being used as the springboard. At least from my reading of some of the Skull stuff in Kallisti and having just done the low level arcs.
-
Yea, this is BS. I mean, I tend to build my chars to not worry about endurance, but even then, speed boost allows me to totally ignore it. And I know plenty of people that still need it. (And since it's available at the stage a lot of people have end issues anyway)
-
Yep. And the upgrade button is tempting, but usually wasteful. I'm just trying to make it so that it's more viable without being a drain.
-
Ok, I can see that and is a good point. Probably then for whatever the replaced SO would sell for to a vendor could be the discount.
-
An idea from another thread, but can be it's own suggestion: Instead of the full cost of upgrading SOs,. if you use that method it would be cost of what you are upgrading minus what the cost is of your existing enhancements. Example: If you're level 22 and you have a level 20 Damage enhancement slotted, the cost currently to bump up to a level 25 is the full cost of 30,000. Instead I suggest we deduct what a 20 would cost (24,000). So to upgrade from 20 to 25 would be a cost of 6,000.

A controversial topic: is it time to make all items free?
lemming replied to Yomo Kimyata's topic in The Market
I'll go ahead an do so -
Of course, the command emailsendattachment was removed in issue 28 because it apparently was easy to break your email. (I would have preferred a fix, but...)
