I was going to bring an AR/Traps Corr, Alternates (IE- Alts that I haven't shown love past creation) up for consideration: Fire/Time Blaster (Praetorian Alt of a current character) EM/SD Scrapper (A young man displaced from his timeline) KM/Inv Stalker (Basic Robot Girl trope) Not wedded to anything at this point, but I'll probably level the Blaster to 50 one day if I don't sign her up with the Specials. Since there are already a few ideas out for ranged/support characters, I wanted to share options in case one is a better fit than the others (though again, I have time zone issues, +9 GMT, that might not make it matter as much).

Impact: A Super Strength idea.
twozerofoxtrot replied to SkyeSharpe's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I think that's the point of the proposed changes, as it currently feels really bad to play before you get Knockout Blow and Foot Stomp. I straight up accept your premise and embrace it. That's not even a hot take. It's basically a meme within our subculture about how painful it is to play: we never see SS brutes and tankers when Posi/Synapse/Citadel WST time rolls around. Personally, I'd like to have fun with my SS main on low level TFs. It's fair if you don't feel that way but you're going to be in the minority. -
Impact: A Super Strength idea.

TSpy had this, I liked it, but it was just a minor AoE that affected one other target. I think SkyeSharpe's idea is more elegant. Honestly though, anything to make the first 20 levels not absolutely suck to play. There are two ATs that use SS. One half of them is going to cry foul at having to pay a power tax for that Cone. Personally, my Cheerios remain unsullied, but it helps to anticipate resistance with a good proposal upfront. I love all of this (though in the spirit of fairness, I love @SkyeSharpe's proposal as well and hope it gets considered by the Devs). But I've heard tweaking animation times is a big ask. Obviously it's being done for some powers, so it's in the realm of possible. But in the interest of seeing good changes happen rather than get recycled to the bottom of the whiteboard list, I'd rather see Hurl's damage spike way up or see an AoE added, as previously mentioned. Yeah the animation time is problematic, but it has payoffs for procs. Again, love all the ideas myself, but I'd personally tack to easier changes that go through quickly than ones that feel better but are mechanically difficult to execute. Caveat the above by saying I might be full of stuffing and welcome any Dev response that confirms or denies my claim about animation time tweaks being a challenge. -
New post that isn't a jest: Sounds like a hoot. My time zone is squirrelly so I may not be able to participate in a group as much, but you can chalk me up as interested. Also, if the level cap is 38, may I suggest a theme-appropriate name of "The Specials?" As in a ".38 Special" but also because the SG is addressing a niche and is "special" in that regard. All 4th-wall breaking stuff that doesn't have to be directly addressed in character. Plus the name is generic and hero-y enough that it just works as a name. If it isn't already taken, that is.

And lo, the Super Strength Tankers did cry out and rejoice For one had stood and spoken for them. Then the world did shake in response to their celebrations As they timed their Foot Stomps in unison.

Focused Feedback: Travel Power Updates (Build 2)
twozerofoxtrot replied to Arcanum's topic in [Open Beta] Focused Feedback
I think very specifically for Stealth (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not home to check for myself) and powers like Stealth, the only information given in the Details tab is the out-of-combat defense. The amount you retain in-combat stays a mystery, unless you 1) check for yourself by running the power and entering and exiting combat with Combat Attributes open or 2) configure Mids to show you the in-combat values, necessitating a third party application. By identifying up front how much defense is remaining in-combat in the first Info tab, you cut out a little of that hustle. -

Thought experiment: Imagine Afterburner and Evasive Maneuvers have their names switched in this beta build. Afterburner is still a T4 Flight Pool pick, but with some adjustments to the power's function (no longer OAS, defense suppresses in combat). Evasive Maneuvers gives you 30 seconds of zoooom on a 90 second CD. How do you feel now?

Discussion: Improvements to the Warriors

Can't tell if double entendre or reference to malware, but I like it either way. Though I would imagine it would be the Warriors themselves suffering from the Trojan horse if the latter. The don't seem very digitally savvy, as a group. I'd hate to be David Hill's IT support. -
Thanks for your response, Night! So I understand your argument but there are a few things I'd like to point out: 1) Regen is already getting a rolling absorb as part of your changes. This, combined with the other improvements would already provide a lot of inbuilt defense and leave it without having to rely on MoG. I think we've seen this clearly with how well Regen performs on Sentinels. Given the slight stat bump it would get if ported over to melees, it would do even better. 2) My initial concern was not so much that it breaks the game, but rather it alters how the set is played. I'm not a Regen main, but there are people who really enjoy that reactive playstyle and I don't think it's fair to the community to pull that away. Now that we have two absorbs to play with, one being fairly robust and on a short cooldown, we've altered the approach to the set. Perhaps scaling it back a bit works? Ideally, changes to regen should reward active play more than it currently does. 3) Comparing Regen revamps to Bio means putting it up against what is widely considered the strongest set in the game. I think this leaves open the chance for fair criticism that we're over-tuning Regen

This was my thinking with my reaction, though as I said I wasn't sure about it overall. Night brings up a great point that I completely blew past which is that the set should be balanced around SOs, since the game isn't balanced around IOs. Should it be? But back to your point as well, if the set has no inherent DDR then the utility of that added defense can become very limited in certain (but common) situations. Ergo, I'd still rather cash this change in to see IH's cooldown reduced to the point it could be made permanent.

Hi Night! 👋 I like a lot of your proposals. I think pulling from the already existing and generally well-considered Sentinel Regen is a wise choice. Further, I haven't seen much in the way of disagreement in the way of adding recharge resistance to the set. It makes good sense, pumps the set up but doesn't change the way it plays for those who enjoy the reactive playstyle. I think if I had to disagree with your proposal anywhere it'd be here: Reconstruction can get down to about a 15 second cooldown. Having an enhanceable 25% absorb on that kind of cooldown seems far too overpowered. I can respect the idea of building in options for the power: proactive versus reactive, while also giving the set something other than MoG to slap down on before diving into a nasty pile, but this seems way too strong. Along with the rolling absorb from Integration the set would essentially lose it's reactivity in play. Wouldn't need to even to take Instant Healing. I'd suggest dropping this off Reconstruction. Okay I lied, maybe two things I disagree with: I'm not sure about adding token Defense to the set. This does more than just bump Defense up a bit, it offers more slotting options (specifically for LotG, Kismet, Shield Wall, and Reactive Defenses) that will undoubtedly make the set stronger. I'm assuming this was your intent, though it wasn't stated outright. I haven't seen any of the more experienced Regen hands weigh in on this portion, but I can see my own Regen characters going through full respecs with to this change alone. Personally I'd trade this huge buff for making Instant Healing perma-able with enough recharge. But like I said up front, I think you have a great proposal for improvements, and I know I'd enjoy my current Regeners even more than I already do with these changes to the set.

Star Allergies: Causes, means to address?
twozerofoxtrot replied to MTeague's topic in General Discussion
This may be a server-specific problem. There are no shortage of teams on either Excel or Everlasting. There are literally teams forming at 4am on Everlasting- and if there aren't I can get one going in a few minutes. So the problem is likely more tied to population than lack of incentive. -
Having nothing to do with the wipe itself- I love that clickable notification on the top of the forums announcing it. Very visible and intuitive.

Focused Feedback: Travel Power Updates (Build 1)

I retract my previous statement then. I thought there was only one Helo and HC Wiki appeared to confirm that. But upon further examination of the system itself, it's clear there are two. -
Discussion: Improvements to the Warriors
twozerofoxtrot replied to Piecemeal's topic in Developer's Corner
A story arc with this: then leading into this: Seems sufficiently epic to me. The reveal could take place in Act 1, Act 2 cue crisis, Act 3 resolution. I'd love to see it. Endorsing some of the other things shown by previous commenters Use increasingly bulky arm & shoulder plates to show rank. Warrior bracers iconically mark them, it fits to present more "arm armor" on them. Staves are fine if wild animations left out and classic-era skins are used; tridents, spears, etc. But less is probably more here. Yes to females. Also plug for Female Huge. A gap in presentation has been identified. I like the idea of Titan Weapons. If they're magically enchanted to be lighter than normal, it makes sense. But again, less is probably more. My own thoughts on application of Shield wearers: Lieutenants - Doing Damage: Shield Charge Against All Odds Bosses - Preventing Damage: Grant Cover Phalanx Fighting -

Yeah, we should. I didn't point it out to compare red vs. blue, though. I wanted to show that your example of Nerva being a place with two transports didn't really hold. Feel free to add more to the pile, certainly. -

Is there a beginner's guide to roleplaying?
twozerofoxtrot replied to CommanderKane's topic in Roleplaying
While this is a very logical, sensible conclusion to come to naturally, it's actually not the case! A huge chunk of the population doesn't roleplay at all, and even many who do have characters that they don't actively roleplay with (myself included). So if I can add to the good advice you've already been provided above this post, I'd say that you shouldn't feel shy about easing yourself into roleplay, and it's totally okay to have a character where you're not roleplaying at all in one moment, and then suddenly you feel like doing it (either in a team or out in the world somewhere). Just flip that little /roleplaying tag on and give it a whirl!
