  1. I take the Armors first, don't get to Hoarfrost until later. Optional powers in the Ice Primary are Icicles (relatively slow ticking, not a lot of damage, but good for additional taunt, I've always wound up with it) and Hibernate (abandons your teammates while you recover, would not recommend unless your secondary is Rad). As much as I love Ice Armor, I'm pretty sure it's in the lower tiers of the Tanker primaries.
  2. Maybe that person was thinking about caps? Brutes have a higher resistance cap (90%) than scrappers (75%), in fact they share the highest resistance cap in the game with Tankers (same with the Defense cap, but the Defense cap is irrelevant).
  3. I created a non-Ice (my first non-Ice ever!) tank on Torch. Having a great time with Inv/StJ. Gotta say, it's very different from Ice: not nearly so many toggles and I have felt MUCH tankier MUCH quicker. If I can make it Tuesday I'll just do Polar again, and then I can shoot for the following Torch Tanker Tuesday with this new character.
  4. Why not just use the Tunnel? It goes directly to and from Peregrine and is right next to the tram in Atlas, Talos, and Founders.
  5. Indeed, but as mentioned in the other thread and in the first post in this thread the T9 powers, for Tankers especially, are often adding very little or nothing to mitigation effectiveness. If the character is already at defensive soft cap, or resist cap, (states most easily reached by the Tanker AT) popping that T9 isn't going to make much difference at all. If you're not capped, like Stalker, Scrapper, and possibly Brute (EDIT: and maybe especially Sentinel, forgot about them), the difference after popping a T9 could be very significant. Making changes to mitigation T9's across the board is going to benefit Tankers the least, which seems counter intuitive since it's the Tanker primary we're talking about, and secondaries for all the other AT's.
  6. I agree with the core premise here, that the T9's should fill holes rather than making better something that's already more than good enough. I also like the idea of the new powers being presented as alternates. As Sunsette mentions in the other thread, I think a lot of care has to be taken here. Tankers are already feeling the burn, and making defensive secondaries better could make that situation even worse.
  7. I'd just leave Blockbuster. It's not intrusive to the zone(s) at large like the Halloween or Christmas events. Plus, people like going to movies during the long winter months. 🙂
  8. Hmmm, that's not a bad idea. I just started an Inv/StJ tank, I could move her to another server for TT's on that server. Any thoughts on what might be the best second server to go to? I need to look at the server move thing more; I'm in an SG with some friends, so it's not like the SG would go away. I do have a few things in Wentworth's too. But it might be that I can clean up things enough to be able to move Polar around.
  9. For everyone mentioning Icy Bastion, or looking at the chart in post 2, remember Icy Bastion is not an option for Tankers. Tankers are stuck with Hibernate, which is completely antithetical to the role of Tankers on a team. I've mentioned T9's several time on these forums, and I'm glad to see a thread opened about them. Here's just some random thoughts, all IMO: I think it's worth discussing changing only defensive T9's in Primaries. I think you're spot on to be worried about "design space crowding" if all the T9's were to change, but changing only Tanker T9's might be a way to un-crowd that space. I completely think T9's, especially primary T9's, should be powers that the player is excited to get. Like Fulcrum Shift. I agree that the T9's should be covering holes, rather than making sets often uselessly better at what they're already good at. For my purposes, I skip anything with a crash. They just don't make sense in today's game.
  10. Yeah, someone had a high target knockup that was a blast (gotta figure out what that is); there were times I was doing the knockdown attacks I have almost just for fun! Good to see low level Tankers joining up and contributing! I added Hybrid - Support to Polar last night after the MSR, so if we try again I can flip it on and buff everyone's DEF etc. It'd be fun to do it again; with the number of server transfer tokens we get there's no reason we couldn't try and consolidate on one server right? I'd be willing to transfer over and then back for a Tanker Tuesday.
  11. I would think Pax's statement above should apply to -tohit as well, as long as what you're stacking with doesn't reach whatever the -tohit cap is.
  12. That makes sense. When I looked in Pines for Gravitic it said "doesn't stack from same caster". It seems like there's pretty clear popular choices in the Incarnate powers like Interface. Not much discussion on Gravitic. Ice and Chilling might be one of the few situations where Gravitic would make sense since it stacks.
  13. I don't think it'll come close. Chilling is 35% or so, and as far as I can tell Gravitic is 10%. Thanks!
  14. As an Ice tanker I have Chilling Embrace which debuffs foes' damage, recharge, and movement speed (and is a taunt as well). If I use Gravitic Interface will the -recharge and -speed procs stack with their counterparts in Chilling Embrace? Thanks!
  15. That's a helluva link, great information and absolutely matches what I've encountered with my Ice/Elec Tanker. End drain is a good tool to have in your toolbox, especially if it's happening when you do things you would be doing anyway. Like for me, I'm in the middle of a group and I fire off Energy Absorption to get Defense, but I also take away 75% of foes' END in a PBAoE radius around me. I'd be firing that off just for the Defense (and because it gives me END), but the fact that it drains is a significant bonus. Especially when I can follow it with Electrical Fences which will drain the rest of the foes' END (AoE again) while keeping immobilized foes within Chilling Embrace. Add in other Elec attacks and Mu attacks and I can keep things mostly, if not completely, drained for a bit. END drain for sure can have an effect. It's not enough to be a primary source of mitigation, but as I say, it's a good tool to have. I've been thinking about trying Gravitic, but haven't yet (searching on Gravitic is how I found this thread). I may swap over so that I can see.
  16. I have it in the Electric version of Hand Clap and it works great. No damage, but dependable knockdown and a good chance for disorient.
  17. I'm a bit confused about the OP: is the comparison with Ice all pre-Granite? I feel like it is. The vast majority of a character's life is going to be spent post-granite right? How does Stone compare with other sets at 35 or 40 or 50? That's a legit question, I have no idea other than the impression that it's very good. I understand the concern about the early levels, and I'd certainly back any changes, but if Stone is fine (or better) once it gets to 32 or 34 or whatever, and there are Armor sets that underperform all the time, I'd rather see the full life underperformers prioritized. At least Stone Tanks get something significant and (hopefully) exciting at 32 for their T9. Ice Tanks get Hibernate. 🙂

    Ice/Rad Questions

Wow, Rad taunts while you're in Hibernate? That's excellent and broken at the same time. Hibernate is still a terrible T9 novelty for everyone else; it's too bad none of the other secondaries can't interact with it the way Rad can.
  19. Hello! In the Announcements section of the forums they had posted on Monday that there would be a point beyond which new posts would not be saved. They would be taking a backup from that point for restoration after the boards were changed. They also posted when they had made the backup, which was sometime early yesterday morning, though I don't remember exactly when it was.
  20. You know what bums me out about Poison? I think Noxious Gas is super, but I wish it always worked like it does for MasterMinds: where you cast it on a target, not yourself.
  21. Well my point was more the statement about Gauntlet not actually doing anything in the code, but regarding the "shiny new passive" I thought it was pretty goofy as well. :)
  22. I don't know if this counts, but I saw COXG server group patch notes posted on reddit and one of the notes was:
  23. Coyote was my first thought when I read that post too. And Coyote wasn't/isn't in a small out-of-the-way spot either; it was a great tribute. I have a character that was in both editions of the CoH comics. Not prominently of course, and I wish I had a cooler costume, but he's there in both just the same.
  24. I've detoggled bad guys. End drain to zero is great for getting rid of that dang Hurricane on Sorcerers for example. You're right in saying that it doesn't seem that foes need more than one END to use their powers, and I sure wish that wasn't the case, but you can definitely see the difference when they're sitting at zero and standing there placidly waiting to get something back. That poor minotaur at the end of the alpha slot quest chain didn't attack me any more than five times as I whittled him down. In terms of good powers don't overlook Ice Armor's Energy Absorption. Three slotted with END MOD level 25 IO's it's pulling ~75% of the endurance from 10 foes in a PBAoE circle around me. Follow that with Electric Fences (AoE immobilize and end drain for ~28%). That's a hefty chunk of foes fully drained in two attacks with a 100% Recovery debuff, a buff to my Defense, filling up my END bar, and immobilizing the bad guys. And of course there's Ball Lightning, Havoc Punch, Chain Induction, and Charged Brawl that all drain END as well (Tanker Ice/Electric with Mu Elite Pool). You can't count on endurance drain as a primary source of mitigation, there are foes out there that it won't even scratch. But it's not a bad tool to have in the toolbox, especially when it's probably a secondary effect on powers you're going to be casting anyway.
  25. I've seen threads about exchanging or eliminating sounds. The PIGG files I think? Couldn't you replace the Hur PIGG with the Arh PIGG? I will probably never type a sentence like that again...
