Taunt Aura Stealth suppression on Brutes and Tankers...
Doomguide2005 replied to Wavicle's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Yes it would as would the increase in AoE radius etc. But 1)ultimately I'm talking about the difference between a Brute and and a Warshade (and one both in Dwarf and out). 2) The Brute will generate more threat overtime (Fury etc.) than a Dwarf but the Warshade is the next one down the list, particular in Dwarf form, in terms of gaining threat. Successfully taking the initial aggro from the Brute isn't a wild chance depending on how each is using their powers and might very well explain some of the issues the OP is seeing. -
Taunt Aura Stealth suppression on Brutes and Tankers...
Doomguide2005 replied to Wavicle's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Threat generation by a Warshade, especially one in Dwarf form, will tend to generate a lot of aggro. The base values (in Dwarf) equal or exceeds a scrapper and are as a result only slightly less than a tank or brute who by the way are identical. The tank comes out ahead mostly by virtue of their inherent all else equal. So if the Warshade is aggressively attacking, especially before the Brute gets into melee, the Brute is probably playing catch up in terms of threat generation. Big lobster shape-changing alien dude is scary! Basically even out of Dwarf a Warshade generates a lot of threat and is a long way from being as threatening (as in more threat than) as your typically squishy. And in Dwarf they are almost as capable of threat generation as a Brute ... it's almost like a Brute duo in terms of what the actual Brute is up against in terms of how the mob sees a Dwarf. -

A bit of a tangent. A few random thoughts about adding inherent mez protection to 'squishies'. Meant to cover all/most mez vs a few common types? Are you thinking just sleep, stun and hold or 'everything'? I'd be more open to (testing) an inherent that scaled with team size. And even more so only kicked in when solo (and/or perhaps kicked in when they are the only one with positive health, i.e.not defeated) I think starting at 10th might be a bit early. I'd want to avoid anything that made it competitive with receiving buffs from teammates particularly buffs from primary power sets. Most defender primaries get their mez protection power between 8th and 12th so 12th is about as early as I think might be test worthy. Even this is going to compete with Corruptors and others with the buffs in the secondary (albeit presumably lower protection values and/or mez types covered by the inherent). Perhaps resistance rather than protection. Or solo gets protection and thereafter scales up with team size with resistance. -
Taunt Aura Stealth suppression on Brutes and Tankers...
Doomguide2005 replied to Wavicle's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Okay so the perceived problem isn't one of stealth capability then but of a set that was originally not a Tanker set getting ported to tanks and not 'adjusting' the power to take threat generation into account while a tank goes about engaging mobs as usual. And not one of screwing up their ability to get to the objective in a stealthy manner by drawing aggro in route to that objective. And yes @Greycat I'll second what your saying in your previous post above -

What? If you have an Aura and you want to stealth then turn off the Aura. Not sure why you'd want to be stealthy while engaged in the classic role of a tank which is to grab and hold aggro. If the team is stealthing to an objective you don't need to grab and hold aggro you need to actively avoid it. -
I'm fairly certain I recall it being listed in Mids as +1000% recovery. And while all I've got is this phone for internet I know I used it on my SR for just that reason. Usually I'd jump start it by popping a blue (again being pre invention my net was not what it would be these days with Miracle etc.). But after that Geas would handle my recovery until after the debuff were off. And since this was pre invention, (pre real numbers even) it always dropped me to 0 end (no Perf Shifter etc. to generate +end getting around the debuff). Should be able to verify easy enough between combat attributes and Mids in any case that I'm not having a serious senior moment. Edit: missed your Mids comment. Maybe because of the blue and fairly normal end slotting it slowed the loss enough to get by on the blue I'd popped until the debuff went away. I assume your specific build has high consumption maybe it wouldn't be enough by itself.

Try adding in Geas of the Kind Ones and Eye of Magus accolades into the mitigation plan/rotation. Those two were my go to if still in mid-combat on my Claws/SR back in the pre-invention days. The +recovery of Geas is enough to offset the debuff of Eludes crash. Eye is a nice boost to defense and resistance. Between your passives, the 3% defense uniques and Eye your defense should be quite solid (you'd be at/near soft capped except for the defense debuff in Geas) while re-toggling mid combat.

😄 well my Emps have and always could solo ... and I don't think they died all that much even on "Invincible". But, yeah speed through the mission or solo vs AVs definitely wasn't a thing either. I don't think crutch is quite the right word either at least with Empathy the set screams team me. -

Doomguide2005 replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
Vastly different, perhaps. Balanced I strongly doubt it. Edit: And to be clear 45% (or 59% or even 100%) is a soft cap. The hard caps do vary by AT and are much much higher. -
This, but it sort of depends on what settings you're talking about. If you want +4/×8 the answer is I doubt hitting the AT's hard cap would do it (2500% for a Brute). If you mean at +0/×4 that's probably doable.

"The Game is not Balanced around IO's"..... should it be?
Doomguide2005 replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in General Discussion
I think the game should be balanced around SO builds. That said I think it's equally important to account for 'high'-end IO builds when designing content. And the primary manner that should be done is through the notoriety settings. And while my knowledge of post i22/i23 Incarnate trials is sketchy owing to life events I feel it's very likely there are in fact teams comprised solely of SO builds that could handle and complete the hardest content out there. When a team starts hitting the caps on all sorts of game limits it doesn't matter if that's with team buffs (SO only build) or primarily via high-end IO builds, the results are the same. -
The only issue here is kb/kd won't allow the repositioning that makes Hurricane what it is. Edit: the kd is also only a 5% chance (per foe per pulse) afaik. Without repel you couldn't push a mob into a corner or back into a patch like FR or back under LS etc.

Just going to point out that when the PtoD are down an AV is no more immune to Repel than a Boss. They're only massively protected when the triangles are up. And in the corner scenario keeping them pinned and not slipping by requires movement by the Stormie which is where part of the skill in its use comes into play. That's probably even more true with the current pulse rate of Repel than back in the day. And last as I mentioned earlier I'm not sure it would, in fact, reduce scatter. Two things seem to trigger mobs to flee. 1) debuffs and 2) not being able to hit the target. Hurricane tends to do both those things. You'd have to test it but I suspect they'd be more prone to fleeing without the ability of Repel to push them around.

Need to go decipher the proc math, but 60 seconds is the base recharge on Fort. My Emps are generally looking at global recharges of 175+ and using Spiritual. Fort is on probably a 20 to 30 second cooldown without any outside buffs (like another Emps AB). Going to be fun for dropping a nuke or t3 blast. Edit: noticing you said the Alpha effects the proc. Means have to look into other Alphas perhaps. Hmmm.

Wasn't there a similar bug around the time of one Halloween events on Live? Feel like I recall something like that occurring? Sort of the opposite of when AV and GM regen was screwy and you utterly needed some sort of regeneration debuff or forget about it.

and how blurry is where those legal teams (and the financial side) come into play arguing about what the law actually allows or doesn't. -

You are probably at least partially correct the patent on the drug is long past. And I am not a lawyer, much less one specialized in patent and trademarks. That said it's not a question of the drug per se but the packaging of the drug. Logo's and such fall under, I'm fairly certain trademark laws. I could put round donut shaped oat products in a box, sell it as cereal. No problem, but drop them in yellow box that copies a Cheerios box and we have an issue. The legal question is just how closely can I copy the layout, colors, writing and other portions of the design before it becomes a legal problem. That was more the issue I was thinking about. See @Ironblade's comment above. PS: and I totally agree Rx insurance is a total nightmare and ridiculous pricing that I see daily needs to get stopped cold -

And the above is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to "legal entanglements". It's also why, 'grumble, grumble' a company like Walmart might (might!) get away with putting some surprisingly similar 'pain relief' tablets in a dark blue and white box etc., and have them sit on the shelf next to the Advil and get away with it. Money, unfortunately talks ... loudly and Walmart's legal team is large, experienced and backed by silly amounts of wealth. You and the HC team by comparison to DC are a financial blip, it's a no brainer who can afford that legal battle. Not to mention shooting any chance HC has of a deal with NCSoft in the head ... "sure HC, we'd love to take on your legal fees and battle DC for you. Um wait, we've been there done that so no thanks here's your cease and desist order HC. Signed, NCSoft legal team." -

I think AE is the only real solution if you both want to continue to progress AND continue to use the backdrop or setting of Kings Row AND wish to do it solo or avoid exemplar status. Sort of ... xp are required to progress, powers and slots you acquire are the actual progress (in typical game play anyway) and I think is what Ultimo is meaning. If this was Live I could point you to a series in AE written by @Neuroniaan SG mate set in King's Row. It was top notch. I often ran it when leveling characters instead of or in addition to the normal KR contacts. Unfortunately the last time I checked it didn't exist on HC. But maybe a search in AE or in the proper subforum here would find similar player created material. -
Well the next question for me would be how reliable can it be made to proc given that I usually have large amounts of global recharge in my Empaths and could skip as much recharge enhancement in Fortitude as needed to max my proc rate.

And did they have O2 Boost like a proper Healzor. 😜

What should the aggro cap on Homecoming be?
Doomguide2005 replied to oedipus_tex's topic in General Discussion
Indeed. PS: wrong thread, move to "Remember when ... " 😉 -
Sort of if I follow you. There are two sets of nested and clamped equations. First Base hit chance+various to hit mods-various defense mods is clamped. Then, second, the accuracy mods × the above clamped equation is itself clamped. I was pointing out that it's rare for the accuracy mods to result in something <5% prior to the outer parentheses clamp being applied. Even when the inner hit chance portion is clamped to 5% its unlikely the accuracy mods will pull that further down so the outer clamp actually forces it back up to 5%. It almost always results in something greater than 5% where the outer clamp doesn't matter. You would need a final accuracy mod under 1.0 to make it relevant.

Nerf Regen Then they did. I recall (in a vague, I'm getting too damn old way) my level 42 BS/Regen scrapper fighting two level 47 Fake Nemesis bosses to a standstill in PI, IH running non-stop. The next time I logged her on toggle IH was no longer a thing and a meme was born.
