"nowhere fast" is where this forum will continue to go, if the current rule of "trolls are allowed to criticize whatever and whoever they feel like, but other forum members are not allowed to criticize the trolls" is kept in place. I think it is a mistake by our GM's, but these are the same volunteers who give their time to enable me to play the game I love, so I don't really want to argue too much against them. 🙂If the forum deteriorates but COH:HC remains playable, I would say that is still a win.

If you want the simplest PB build possible, take a look at this one. It is intended for people like myself, who love the concept of Peacebringers but not the complexity of the triforrm playstyle. To be clear, this build is nowhere near as powerful as the more complex builds you will find here in the forum. But it has more than enough ranged DPS in Nova and tankiness in Dwarf to make you feel like a useful contributor to any team you join. Metabolic Acceleration, from the Blaster /Atomic secondary. I can't think of any AT that wouldn't benefit from it, and it is a toggle, so no worries about being unable to slot recharge reductions in it.

Makes you wonder how much more succesful Arachnos could have been in terms of world domination, if all their project budgets weren't bloated by mandatory spider aesthetic design features and -functions. Out of curiosity, what did you do after finishing the First Ward and Night Ward storylines (assuming you did those) to get the rest of the way from the mid-30s levels up to 50? I am one of the Hounds of Love goldsiders on Reunion that Darmian mentioned, and I think I might have gone insane if we had had to level post-Night Ward without using the goldside arcs in the AE. Sure, SBB is great fun, but you probably didn't do 40-50 SBB's in a row. If you do decide to jump servers, look us up on Reunion 🙂 Resistance scum are welcome accepted tolerated allowed to follow at a polite distance behind proper, Cole-fearing Loyalists.

There are a few Titan Weapon swords that might fit the bill. Granted, they are bigger than a medieval two-handed broad sword - more like a 3-handed sword, size-wise - but even a real-life 2H sword looks a bit oversized when used by a normal-sized human.

Usually when I read an interesting thread that I plan to post in, my intended reply forms in my head gradually as I read through the thread. I was doing the same thing for this thread, until I suddenly got to the part where @Erratic1 had written my exact thoughts before I even formulated them myself:

Generally speaking - and I say this mainly for the benefit of any inexperienced player who might read this thread in the future - a squishy character is difficult to play in melee when you are inexperienced. Or for that matter if you are experienced but unskilled, like myself. Squishies include blaster and dominator but also several other ATs. Elite players are overrepresented here in the HC forum, so if you read the forums (fora?), you might get the impression that building a blaster/dominator to be tanky and non-squishy is as easy as making cereal. But for a lot of players, it isn't. A blapper-style character operated by a good player is powerful and tough. In the hands of an average player it is will be a rough ride. Rewarding and fun, but also difficult and sometimes frustrating.

@Xilak, if you are very new to CoX (<-- an assumption on my part), then this might be new info to you, but pretty critical to know re. the question at hand. So in order to have a melee fighter who also has ranged attack capability, the way to do that in CoX is to have a mixture of melee attack power and ranged attack powers. You can do that by making a melee AT and adding a few ranged attacks via the epic power pools, as suggested in this thread: https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/26025-i-wanna-pew-pew/. Whether you go stalker, scrapper, brute or tanker is a matter of personal preference. Alternatively, you can play one of the ATs which by design have a mixture of melee and ranged powers. Dominators and blasters as already mentioned, or Arachnos widows and soldiers, and perhaps also a human-only PeaceBringer? I have not played one of the latter. so not sure. The third way is to play a ranged-attack AT but use your ranged attacks in melee range to simulate them being melee attacks. The tricky bit is, of course, that the ranged ATs are more fragile.

Sorry to be pedantic, but the Reunion server is physically located in Germany, and the other 4 are located in Canada. Unless they changed that when I wasn't looking - wouldn't be the first time :) Not a big deal, though. I myself play from Denmark and don't notice any significant difference whether I play on Reunion or one of the North American servers.

This is solid advice. While transferring to the server which has the highest population (in your timezone! are you in the US?) gives you are better chance to find like-minded players, it is fair to say that you are looking for relatively small subset of the player population. So it is a big help if you boost your chance of finding them by sending out a precisely worded LFG invite. Edited: Added a missing word.

Nemesis. Classy uniforms, equipment that has a unique look to it - and with Nemesis being one of the more rational and clear-headed villain bosses, I imagine that the organization has a better policy regarding employees' work/life balance than most other villain groups. Long-term world domination requires troops to maintain it, so Nemesis knows that he cannot afford to lose his troops to stress-induced nervous breakdowns. But yeah, the Daft Punk Appreciation Society, a.k.a. the Syndicate, would be a close second for me.

Not that I am a biologist or anything like that, but I think the definition of mutation is wider than just "biological changes caused by nuclear radiation". If I am right, then it is possible for mutants to have existed before the splitting of the atom. Is there a forumite with a degree in biology who can confirm?

Where does one find all the CoX music files in MP3 format? Or if not all the music files, then at least some of them. The HC Wiki entry titled "Music" mentions that a Titan forum member made the MP3 files available as a downloadable archive, but I don't know. I also seem to recall that the game's music was on SoundCloud but I cannot seem to find it. I like the idea of using some of the game music as a ringtone, so any help will be much appreciated.

Omega Maneuver is a waste of a slot (IMHO). The damage is not high enough to justify the long activation time and cooldown time. I had OM on my own crab, but stopped using it entirely - it doesn't do anything for you that you can't get better/faster/easier from your normal attack rotation. So you can go ahead and demote Omega Maneuver from a Dream to... well, to whatever is a few rungs down the ladder from Dream 🙂 Re. defence and resist auras for pets: Yes, better to have them than not have them. But even with both pet auras running, you should still expect to actively tank for you pets. They are too fragile and too kamikaze to stay alive for long unless you draw aggro from them. Can't comment on your build as I am on my phone, not my PC, right now. Sorry.

That is probably your best bet. I am not aware of any redside-only SGs [EDIT: ...on Reunion] that are currently active (*), but lots of people will join a redside TF- or mission team if you take the initiative and start one. And yes, it helps a bit to have some SG-mates to seed the team 🙂 (*) Black Fang was quite active for a while, but I have not seen them in LFG recently. Good group of people and some fun teaming the times that I got to run with them. If you guys are in fact still around, then I apologize for prematurely declaring you dead 😉

Also note that the 5 most recent prices you see displayed for your selected IO might not be the correct ones. There is a bug in the Auction House where it sometimes (I don't know how frequently it happens, sorry) displays the 5 most recent prices for an entirely different item - in which case you might bid way too high or too low due to misunderstanding. The best indicators for the price of an IO, or for that matter any other item in the AH, is the number of bids compared to the number of items on offer. But that does not give you very precise price guidance. So yeah, @Zepp's advice is the best one - put in low(ish) bids and be patient. Or if you are not patient, make your peace with the fact that BUY NAOW! is a lot more expensive than buying patiently. I have bought a PS and a UG recently for 2.5 mil. and 3.0 mil., respectively, so those prices are probably still achievable at the moment.

Apologies for the threadnecro, but is there a similar command to suppress visual effects on other players and/or their pets?

How about slotting Gale with damage procs, or is it not a good power for damage procs?
