What are your favorite things about Sentinels?
Triumphant replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Sentinel
Interesting. I'm not sure why you're having such a struggle with your blaster. To be fair, I've never played fire/time. My current main blaster is energy/energy. He can typically fight +3/8 or +4/4. It does vary with the enemy type, though. I have a great deal of trouble with Praetorian Seers, for example, although I don't fight them very often so it's not really an issue. -
It was one of the biggest hurdles for me, back when I first started playing. Even after approximately 2 years of regular play, I still don't grasp 100% how it all fits together and functions, but I have enough understanding that I can build a pretty good character now. For the most part, until level 50, I just outfit my characters with plain old lvl 25 invention enhancements and then pad them out with procs from the healing and endurance sets, as I get the money to acquire them. The little bumps of health and endurance you get from these will help in the survivability of almost any AT and powerset combo. Then I may focus on getting the signature enhancements from ATO sets (ATO are the enhancement sets particular to specific archetypes: Blaster sets, Tank sets, Scrapper sets, etc. One enhancement in the set typically has a very good bonus, such as giving a scrappers crit a 50% chance to go of, and so on. I buy these as soon as I'm able to afford them, much like the health/endurance procs). After you hit lvl 50, that's where it gets more complex, as I start thinking about what I want my goals to be for defense/resist caps, endurance, mez protection, damage and recharge, etc. Start with the link that The_Warpact provided and then go from there and keep asking questions if there's something you don't quite grok. You'll start to figure it out eventually, I promise.

What are your favorite things about Sentinels?
Triumphant replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Sentinel
I like them. I have two at the moment: Dark/Dark and Cold/Inv. They aren't nearly as bad as everyone says, IMO. On the other hand, yes- they are largely inferior to blasters. But, then again, what isn't? I agree with Snarky that that need a little bump to range and damage (Not a lot, just a bit of both) or else a massive reworking of the inherent to make it truly valuable. -
I think the review was good, overall. I would say the last sentence was perhaps a tad too rough and the review would deliver the same information, in a more friendly manner, if it was excised from the post. While I would have omitted that last bit, I entirely agree with the reviewers opinion.

plz fix hic up or rubber banding in the game
Triumphant replied to Rezarfox's topic in Help & Support
I've never experienced rubberbanding in the two years that I've played the game. It's most likely on your end, I'm afraid. -
Yeah, I seem to remember that one. Just had to randomly click on doors in the area until I found it.

What are your expectations for the Loki series?

Yeah... you've got a point there, friend. To quote a character from Deadwood, my favorite TV show of all time: Being a human on planet Earth, in the year 2021, ain't for sissies, folks. Truth. 😟
-
Well, yes- you have a valid point. It's all inherently ridiculous, isn't it? I mean, it's a comic book, after all. 🤷♂️

I don't know why you're going so aggro on everyone, amigo. Peeps are just giving you honest replies to your suggestions. I think your ideas are pretty cool. I wouldn't mind seeing them implemented. This is an actual game that is being run without the IP holders permission, though, and they can't start taking money for actively working on it, or the IP holder is going to come down on them like a ton of bricks. As far as Hero vs Villain Supergroup action, you can do that in places like Recluse's Victory, with two consenting supergroups. You could also play it out in a purely RP fashion, maybe by transcribing your characters into a Pen and paper system and using something like Roll20 in tandem with CoH and a player base (Hero or Villain). EDIT: Eh, ignore the bits I striked out. I missed the reply where you clarified that you meant after the Devs get IP rights for working on the game. 😛

Spider Man No Way Home official teaser
Triumphant replied to ZacKing's topic in Comic, Hero & Villain Culture
Was reading in my news feed on my phone about how everyone is going bonkers on social media over this trailer. It just doesn't look that great to me. Maybe you have to be a huge Spider Man fan to understand (admittedly, I am not). Big Doctor Strange fan, though, so I'll definitely see it for that, at least. Maybe it will surprise me and be as good as the hype suggests. -
No, because then that leads to "No, it isn't." Or, "Huh, why?" Or, "Would you care to explain that?" Etc. The team leader doesn't have time for that, doesn't want to make time for that, and shouldn't be expected to make time for that. If one wants to discuss it at length, that's what the forums are for. I don't understand what the person is boasting about. They're venting about other players getting their panties in a twist because they don't want to follow directions and ask for an invite by broadcast. I don't think that's douchebaggery. Even you construe it as such, I don't see how you can feel it is more douchebaggy than the profanity laden abuse that the OP received from those seeking the invites. Anyway, @Nightwatch here's two recommendations to handle the problem in the future: 1) Copy/paste this from your first post in this topic and put it into a macro: 2) If this fails to satisfy, or they continue to pester you, or they unleash a stream of profanity on you like you've received in the past, then simply put them on ignore and move on.
-
I'm afraid I can't agree with you here: 1) Typing this... ... actually takes very little time- much less time than explaining their specific reasons, which the forum post on the topic actually does in comprehensive manner. 2) Trying to manage replies while setting up a team can be stressful enough without having to explain your reason for why you're using certain parameters for setting the team up in the first place. The OP chose NO TELLS PLEASE (They said, please, by the way- I'd just like to point out) b/c it makes the process of setting up and leading the team smoother and/or less stressful for them. Having to explain the reasons why this works better for them does not make the process less difficult or stressful for them. In fact, it does the exact opposite. 3) If players looking for invites are really offended by the specifics of how team leaders handle their invites, fine- then they should feel free to do the team leading themselves and just form the teams via accepting PM's the way that they think everyone else should. But maybe they don't like to lead teams? Fine. Or maybe they didn't have time to lead a team on this particular occasion? Also fine. But in both circumstances, maybe they should just follow the protocol of the person doing that for them, instead of bitching about their methods. Regardless, certainly a FUCK YOU, was not in order here.

No, the problem is definitely you.

Well, women can certainly be sexist against other women. See Phyllis Schafly. In any event, I was not suggesting you were "completely sexist against women". Nor will I assume that your are partially sexist against women, as your statement could imply. Now this bit... I appreciate the distinction that you're making here and I can get behind this position, with the caveat that such things are subjective and what is distasteful and what is art is a matter of subjective opinion and not a matter of objective fact. Still, you make a convincing argument here and I feel satisfied with your reply. Yes, as it should be. And yet, you must admit that ERP, public or private, is done across an internet connection with another person that you have no actual way of reliably verifying as being a legal adult. It just seems to me that this ought to be more alarming to people than a request for naked female breasts as a costume option. That's all that I'm saying. I really don't understand why this position is so puzzling to Tyrannical and others. On the other hand, sexist or not, I ought to have known better than to even bring up that term, as it never produces rational discussion on the topic (though I confess I am at a loss of how to approach any discussion about sexism without using the term). 🤷♂️
-
I'm not. I'm saying it's ridiculous to object to one (women's breasts) and not the other (ERP in a game with minors). That isn't a strawman argument. It's a coherent, logical evaluation of the argument and a valid point that you may not wish to acknowledge. I'm also wondering where the objections (yours or others) are to bared male nipples that already exist in the game, because I can't seem to find them on these forums. That is partly why I (understandably, I think) hold the objections I'm reading here to be both hypocritical and sexist. @Tyrannical So... are you trolling me now, or... 🤷♂️
-
Yeah, there was one lengthy (and perfectly understandable) discussion about it. I recall reading it. How many of the people objecting to depictions of the bared female breast were the same people objecting to ERP in a game with minors? Is this addressed to me, specifically? My instinct is to think it's both rhetorical and satirical, but you did give my previous reply a thumbs down, so I'm honestly not sure. Anyway, to clarify, my position on the exposed human breast (male and female) is this: I play mostly male characters. On some of my male characters, I have chosen the bare chest option to evoke a certain "tough-guy" aesthetic for melee toons and/or also to visibly see chest symbols I use as tattoos (often to complement tattoos on the characters arms), and also to highlight muscle definition and power on characters that I feel would have a powerful physical presence. I usually gravitate toward playing males, though I do occasionally have an idea for a female character that grabs my interest. I've never had a concept for a female character that I can think of where I would want to have an exposed chest. Possibly an amazon type toon or a character from a tribal culture or a human-like alien culture with different fashion. But, as I clearly stated in the post that you gave a thumbs down to, I don't personally have any great desire to have this option. It's the fact that players actually feel threatened by the suggestion, that I find both ridiculous and offensive/sexist. Where are the threads objecting to the depiction of bared male breasts, or the removal thereof? And for those of you that tagged me with the confused emoji, I'm just curious: What is it that you find so confusing about my reply, because I feel like it was pretty clear and straightforward. Granted, everyone who posts in these forums probably thinks that. I acknowledge that just because I think the thing that I wrote is clear, does not in any way prove that this is so, but tell me where I'm losing you and I'll try to clarify what I'm saying.
-
I do realize it. And I don't really have a particular interest in having a bare-chest model for female characters. And yes, there are clientside mods for it, if you really want that kind of thing. You can see it, but no one else has to see it. Problem solved. But I find it hypocritical and inherently ridiculous that everyone gets up in arms about the idea of having visible boobs in a game where there is a lot of erotic roleplay and you have no way of actually verifying that the person you're doing the ERP with is a legal adult. No one gets in a tizzy about this but, oh, heaven forbid that a minor should lay eyes upon a bared female breast; that would certainly damage them beyond repair. Give me a freaking break. 🤡

Though it does beg the question: Why are boxer briefs not called boxer trunks and midway briefs not called midway trunks? 🤔
-
For the men, they're both briefs to me. What you're describing, I think of as boxer briefs. Maybe that's just an American thing, though? I dunno.

Well, you're half right. I AM lazy. Not only that, but I'm here to enjoy a comic book super hero game, not nurture my work ethic. I'm not trying to be kind/generous, though. You're wrong about that one. If I sell 1 orange invention salvage for 1 influence, I make between 400,000 and 500,000 influence. If I sell a purple for 1 influence, I make anywhere from 10 to 20 million influence. I can even sell certain orange recipes for 1 influence and make anywhere from 2 and 10 million inf. Lastly, I can convert all my reward merits to enhancement converters, sell all the converters for 1 influence each, and make 60k to 70k influence for every one I sell (often hundreds at a time, and they convert at a 3 to 1 ratio). I do this because I think the market is pointless in a game where all assets are free (no paywalls) and the market has no real impact on my roleplay of a superhero/villain. Crafting recipes is boring. Working the market is boring. I don't want to waste my fun time in the game, doing something I personally view as tedious. Selling everything for 1 influence allows me to make a ton of money without spending 30 minutes interfacing with the market. There are exactly two ways you could get me to stop doing this: 1) Adjust the Auction House so that it isn't possible to get millions for selling something for 1 inf (Dev's would have to do this). 2) Completely remove the market and make everything free (Again, Dev's would have to do this). P.S. You don't need to point out the fact that I lose millions (billions?) doing it this way. I'm well aware of that. I make enough money to outfit my characters with good enhancement sets and get cool stuff from the P2W vendor. That's all that matters to me. Once you've accomplished that, what are you going to do with all those extra millions and billions anyway? Jump into it and swim around in it, like Scrooge McDuck in his money vault (Okay, if you could ACTUALLY do that, in-game, I would probably LOVE the market. But you can't, so my point stands). Striving for all that money that I can't actually use, doing something I find personally tedious, is just a waste of my time and I don't see why I would bother with it.

Honestly, Clarion is what will fix it for a Rad/Rad build. Part from that, yeah- just gonna have to do a different build, as Uun said.
