taunt All Scrappers must have Taunt Auras
Riverdusk replied to Purrfekshawn's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I always like the idea some presented when this came up before and that is to turn scrapper's confront powers into a combat teleport. And now we have a template to do exactly that with the change to the teleport pool. Although maybe the scrapper version would be mob targeted and of course keep its taunt component as well (if it was up to me I'd make it a small aoe taunt as well). If something runs, boom, we zap to it and with the taunt it should also stop running. Confront definitely needs a little something to make it more appealing as a power anyway imo. I find it sad that right now a power pool taunt is generally more useful than the scrapper's taunt they get in their primary powerset. -
How the heck do I convince myself to make a Corruptor?
Riverdusk replied to Chompie's topic in General Discussion
Well, if you are looking for just numbers justifications there are some combo that work well as a corrupter. Fire blast is probably the best example. It doesn't have any debuff secondary effects so it is clearly better on a corrupter. Ice can also work well as scourging rains (which it has two) are VERY nice (and fun to see all those scourge messages imo). Radiation blast is good as well if you are interested in it. How much -defense do you really need and as a corrupter you get to skip neutrino bolt. As for secondary, kinetic where you can take advantage of a corrupter's higher damage cap with it is a clear corrupter winner. Personally I also like something like /time (a case like @Apparition noted where its numbers are good enough even as a corrupter to pretty easily reach softcap defenses. Especially if you go with a power boost APP (although devs mentioned they are "looking" at that, so I'd have a back up plan to not need it). I'm sure there are other combos, but those are some of the ones I always think of first for corrupter. -
I'd say most masterminds would fit the bill as well, but I can understand not everyone likes their playstyle.

Been a while since I've fought her so not sure. You also run into her on some bank safeguard missions. However, in my experience she won't use power surge until she reaches a certain hp threshold, so yes if you can get her hp down a bit, and then finish her off the rest of the way quick enough she won't activate it. Burst damage definitely helps a lot as does having controls. I don't remember her having extra knockdown protection, so a well timed knockdown (Nemisis staff would work well), or stun, or hold could work. Kind of the same idea of fighting freakshow and preventing them from getting off their dull pain ability or Fake Nemesis, paragon protectors, etc. with their low hp specials. I'd actually hope they didn't nerf her as I like enemies like that as it is one of the few times where control can be more useful than damage although as mentioned enough burst damage will also do it.

I sometimes worry about my plant controllers and doms having their seeds of confusion power nerfed because of how OP it feels. Then I read people like some in this thread that for some reason seem to think confuse is so weak. Thanks for helping keep it under the nerf radar. 😁 Heck, love the confuse power on my illusion controller too especially once it gets the contagious confusion proc. Should probably post that in the bug forum. If nothing else those rare few specific enemies in the game that do that could just be made immune to confuse (mag 100 confuse protection seems like an easy fix).

One advantage to /rad is that it is defense debuff heavy. Being plant If you really want to maximize your confused enemies beating each other up, flooring their defense really helps with that. Otherwise I've noticed confused enemies miss each other a LOT. Other than that though, I agree /fire or /earth are generally better among the choices listed.

Any Updates on the "no streaming" rule?
Riverdusk replied to jackalcoh's topic in General Discussion
And yet there is one mission on hero side I end up doing on almost every character were you have to rescue like 12 lawyer hostages. I always wonder if I'm really doing the heroic thing by completing that mission and setting all those lawyers free. -
My personal thoughts as a NoOb on some classes/powersets
Riverdusk replied to Rinwen's topic in General Discussion
As @Sakai mentioned there is an option for multi builds in the game. Visit any trainer (post level 10) and select to train (even if you don't need to), then "Select or rename your active build". The one downside is you have to buy all new enhancements. Edit: Also wanted to clarify that once you switch builds you can then immediately train it up to your current level, you don't have to start at level 1 all over again (I've see some people get confused on that). Rest of your thoughts are fair enough, glad you found some AT's you enjoy! -
Actually I've noticed a lot of the stealths work this way now (won't suppress while fighting), which is something I didn't notice on live, so not sure it is new, or just didn't realize it. I'm talking steamy mist, shadowfall, and arctic fog anyway. I tend to monitor PvE stealth radius from combat attributes now and notice the stealth from celerity +stealth IO will drop when I attack, but none of those will (so I go from 65ft down to 35ft of stealth). Pretty sure dark armor's cloak of darkness also doesn't suppress although that isn't one I've tested anytime recently. 35 ft not nearly as much as the 200ft of SI of course, but still enough to easily prevent accidental aggro of a nearby 2nd mob group most of the time, which can be very nice at times.

That tohit debuff resistance to me is the most valuable part of focused accuracy. There are very few ways to get tohit debuff resistance (I wish tactics had some), so it is very valuable when you are fighting things like those spectral ghosts where otherwise you are suddenly missing, missing, missing.

That's a nice looking laptop. Good choice.

Honestly I'd suggest a plant dom. Never felt like I've "dominated" a whole room full of enemies more than when a dozen+ of carrion creepers vines are attacking the whole room at once and decimating things. You can fairly easily get creepers perma (6 min recharge, 2 min duration base). Throw in the spamming of roots with its huge 30 foot radius and then your secondary (probably something like savage or earth) to throw more aoe around, then add in probably fire epic pool so you have fireball and rain of fire to throw on top of that. And you'd definitely have no issue with things running off as you have some of the most powerful immobilizes you can get in the game.

Let's Talk About Resurrection Powers
Riverdusk replied to oedipus_tex's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I like these ideas as self rezzes are so easy to come by now that rez as a power isn't nearly as useful as it use to be (and even early on they were so-so). I know almost every time when I actually try and use howling twilight as a rez the person has already hit a self rez before I can even get it off (or it gets ignored as noted by @Greycat). If it didn't have other great effects it would be a skip every time. Honestly I'd put the regen and dark armor self rezzes in this as well. Perhaps give regen's rez similar buffs that willpower's self rez has. It'd be nice for the dark armor one to not need a target to work (but would still work better and stun when there are targets). The self rez in willpower is actually underrated as it does have some nice buffs although maybe cut down on its penalty phase. Rise of the Phoenix is pretty nice as it has its attack (and is available on more squishy AT's, so more likely to be of use) so I think that one is fine as is. -
Seems to be in a good spot already to me. Any more buffed and I think it'd step on wormhole's toes too much. If anything it is a bit of an issue to me that you can get fold space at level 14 and have to wait for level 26 for wormhole. Have always thought it'd be nice to see wormhole and dimension shift swapped so gravity can pick wormhole up at level 12 instead. Now that fold space is something anyone can grab at level 14 just reinforces that.

Slash command technical inquiries - omnibus
Riverdusk replied to Shenanigunner's topic in General Discussion
Definitely works different for me. I even have a bind set up to take advantage of this fact: /bind divide "petcom_pow Zombie dismiss$$petcom_pow Grave dismiss$$releasepets" Hitting the / numpad key will leave only a lich body for me for easy soul extraction, no worry of accidently selecting a lesser pet. Also checked them both manually and dismiss still doesn't leave a body and release does. -
My 50 dm/sr stalker would be against getting soul drain. I prefer BU on my stalker and it is a big reason why I created the character. I also have dm scrappers and I enjoy that they play very differently.

Fixing Gravity Control's Lift and Propel Problem
Riverdusk replied to oedipus_tex's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Agree, I think it'd involve replacing lift or propel (probably lift as propel is kind of iconic and I know some play gravity just for the fun of throwing junk around) with a new or significantly altered power. I wouldn't be against it, but it'd take some careful thought. You could just give doms a temp damage boost buff every time they use lift/propel, but that gets into the whole issue of some people would complain you are forcing them to use certain powers or use them in certain order. I could see it though as then it'd help boost their secondary damage. The lines may be blurred more for them than most between controller/dom sets, but it also has to kept in mind Doms still have some advantages. Biggest one probably is having much easier access to AoE damage (probably THE biggest issue for gravity controllers). They also still have more powerful controls and they still have easy access to status protection. Compared to other doms it is also nice having a pet that is useful and arguably the most survivable on its own. I'm not against some change, but they do have enough advantages I wouldn't be so quick to say the set isn't worth playing as a dom even as is. -
Yep, Skyrim is kind of my go to for when I want a cozy off line game. As to what's coming up very soon, I wonder if there won't be a temporary population drop starting Dec. 9th/10th when Cyberpunk hits. I don't think I'm even nearly as excited for it as a lot of people, but I'm still definitely giving it a try. Probably most hyped game of the year?

Against my Better Judgement (Ice Melee)
Riverdusk replied to Solarverse's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
That'd work. Stone fist's animation is a nice one and it'd still fit the power, just punching with ice instead of stone. -
Against my Better Judgement (Ice Melee)
Riverdusk replied to Solarverse's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Just like to say I find it amusing that this thread on ICE melee is now labeled by the forum as "hot". But I'm easily amused. -
I think I know exactly who you are talking about and that player is a fun one to team with. I've also seen people in LFG comment on not liking her schtick and say they are putting her on ignore and that is fine. Only name I've ever really had an issue with so far is one that was sexist, sexual, and political, so it was bad on multiple levels.

Against my Better Judgement (Ice Melee)
Riverdusk replied to Solarverse's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
As @Vandennoted, we get what you are trying to go for, but the damage numbers are better as a scale as they vary so much by AT and other factors. Why I always just say increase its recharge and the "appropriate damage scale for its increased recharge" as that's the easy way out. 🙂 Looks good to me though. -
Against my Better Judgement (Ice Melee)
Riverdusk replied to Solarverse's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
I don't see them increasing its recharge (and damage scale) to 6 seconds as that would make it identical to ice sword. Increasing it to more than 5 I'd bet is a no go. I've never seen a set before with its tier 1 and 2 with the exact same recharge. Energy melee has a 5 and 6 second recharging powers as tier 1 and 2 so there is precedent for that though. I think 5 would be plenty. I'd be satisified with ANY increase to FF damage/animation no matter how small so yes I'd also be happy with 4. I use it now instead of cross punch even though it underperforms and I know it does because I'm just stubborn that way. -
Against my Better Judgement (Ice Melee)
Riverdusk replied to Solarverse's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
They could just make frozen fists a 4 second recharge power (increased from 3 seconds) with the appropriate increase in damage and/or shave a bit off its animation time. It would make it a more worthy power. I think that'd be a simple change. -
Yeah, unfortunately the average damage, DPA, etc. are wrong on a lot of powers. Melee ones are the worst as they often randomly include damage from if fiery embrace is active from fire armor secondary, an armor set I never even play. I depend on in game numbers as I don't typically use a program like Mid's (which can also be wrong), and I'm always having to make adjustments in trying to compare sets.
