So, the misperception of aid self is that it's an awesome heal and can keep you going. While it is a heal and it can help you occasionally, the truth that is eventually uncovered is this, Aid self is substantially inferior to any other option you can choose on a properly built SR. Here's why: Defense is binary. At soft cap, you rarely ever take hits. Resist is linear, in that you will take many more hits, but at cap the rate of health decay is essentially predictable and any healing or Regen greater than this linear decay is beneficial. So now we inspect 2 scenarios, at defense cap or not at defense cap: At defense cap: assuming you stay at cap, you will rarely ever be hit and these few and far between hits, even if large, will rarely ever be consecutive. Even if they are consecutive, SR has scaling damage resist. Combining this scaling damage resist with the recommended 50% build resist from set bonuses, and you're at 75% resist to S/L and 60% others. So in 99% of play, we will never encounter situations that need a heal beyond what 1 inspiration covers. Why? Because you'll take a hit, health drops, resist goes up further than it is and even if you don't pop a green, you won't take another hit. Even if you did, it would be reduced by 65-75%. The time between hits is long enough that innate Regen and 1 green refills. Now, the other scenario, not at defense cap. Let's say we're engaged in furious battle with def reducing or tohit/acc modified foes. This effectively gives them a greater chance of landing hits. Now we circle back to: defense is binary. Meaning, you either get hit or not and the difference between a 5% chance of hit and a 15% chance of hit is massive. In some rare cases this increased hit rate causes increasingly lower defense as well. If your defense is circumvented by tohit or def reduction, you're going to take damage at such an excellarated rate that aid self will be not be able to keep pace, because these same foes will do cumulatively more damage, exacerbated if they manage to make defense Cascade lower. Which leads us back to why any other choice is better than aid self for a properly built SR. In situations where your health drops at a rate that defense, inherent Regen and 1 green can't fix, you're going to faceplant and aid self AT BEST is a zero sum game. If you took other powers that killed faster, increased resist or debuffed foes you would have increased survivability. All those slots in aid self, the whole power pool and the power choices in them would prove markedly more beneficial to the build in nearly any other facet. And that's not even touching on the uselessness of aid self due to the interrupt, such as in the middle of 17 foes who are spamming attacks.

Did you click the pvp/pve toggle radio dila?

Nathan Fillion, between solving crimes, writing books and being a starship taxi captain, can be seen here with a pain in the brain pan.
-
Sure, no disagreement. Also, it's been no voted as well. We shall see how it all turns out 😁
-
Yes but... You down with OPP?!
-
I respect your viewpoint. Equally as valid is the view that this is not a positive change and a no vote. So yes, better in my opinion is to spend the limited Dev time fixing Kheldians in a more meaningful way. Toggle supression is lipstick on a pig, *colorful expression for effect, no offense intended* it's far less beneficial than almost any other improvement. On top of that the previously mentioned end drain. I did have what I consider to be better in previous posts, if you don't mind referring there to answer your inquiry? 😁 The no vote is because, if we get any changes to Kheldians, they should be changes we majority agree on and have the most ROI. Now, if the community votes in majority for toggle supression, then so be it 😁. But we all get a vote and mine is no.

QoL / Slight buff to electric blast sets
SwitchFade replied to Galaxy Brain's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
Great suggestion. I think elec needs more. End issues aren't too common really, and in addition to this QoL, elec needs more damage. Or, if the intent is for it to be utility, then bump that. End drain is nearly useless as it is, so make elec attacks hold longer, or have continuous debuffs, or make the pet like a controller pet... Good idea, I vote Yes and I also vote more in addition -
To further what has been said from a water/Sr sentinel player You want geyser and tidal on a 23-27 second cool down, so they are up together. You WANT whirlpool, the damage is big. Drop whirlpool, hit tidal and smash geyser. Keep going with steam spray and water burst. This pretty much wipes anything up to +3 lt's. The thing about water is, it recharges fast with hasten and globals. So fast that you're spamming attacks continuously. It really pairs well with low maintenance secondaries, allowing continuous damage output. While geyser is recharging you're constantly spamming steam spray, water burst, dehydrate and hydro blast. I skipped aqua bolt because the damage bump in opportunity is meh, and AoE attacks, dehydrate and hydro are up so fast I never got to it. Heck, I rarely use hydro blast, only when I want to trigger defensive for healing. Having your nuke on a 24 second recharge changes things.

Yes but... You down with OPP?!

Disagree, and I think the habit of assuming things like this is questionable, without evidence. Now, if we take a poll and the data reflects this, fine. As it is, I do not want toggle suppression as it has been advocated.

A few things You don't need hasten with Kat/SR, your attack chain recharges so fast with global recharge it's a waste. Put practiced brawler on auto fire. SR gives you huge set flexibility for io's, so build for 54% defense to M/R/AoE def. My Kat/SR scrap is 54%+ to each. Build for 49% resist to smashing/lethal, and 30% others. Use the scaling damage resist unique io. 3-4 LoTG global recharge is great, more if you want. The critical strikes ATO proc that triggers huge chance to crit for a few seconds should be in your end of attack chain light attack, so that when it fires and you restart your attack chain with golden dragonfly and it crits. Be sure to not take divine avalanche, it's not needed past lvl 20. You have aid self, I have never needed or used it past lvl 25, especially if you can afford any attuned io. If you like it, great, but built right, SR doesn't need it. SR blooms post 40, and the small heal from aid self is really not much help, because if you needed it before 38 because you have no AoE mitigation, then the AoE is going to kill you regardless. I can facetank AV's, GM's and full aggro from anything without worrying. I'll look more after work

1. Agreed. This is rumination though, as Kheldians require heavy slotting when forming. 2. Agreed, and 1 above. 4. No argument there, just a vote on any endurance drain that is na increase. There's opportunity cost in all aspects of the game, rightly so. For example on any AT: Take all primary powers? Perhaps can't fit in all secondary and pools. Take all primary and secondary? Can't fit in pools. Personal force fields renders one only able to affect self, due to the healing and defense. Attack while stealthed or click a glowie? Not stealthed. Use the parry in katana? Defense big, bit slow attack chain and lower dps. Use confront in scrapper? Reduced dps, but a teammate is safer. Plenty of powers have an opportunity cost. The point of forms is that we unlock something incredibly powerful, in trade for human being incredibly powerful. I don't agree that all three should be equally Uber simultaneously. I vote, buff forms and human mutually exclusively in most cases, and make certain toggles and powers carry over. Orbiting debt in dwarf. Mezprotection in human and nova. Humanand nova damage cap increase. ST damage bump in nova. Increased control/support in human. Aggro control buff in dwarf. Make them compliment, worth taking more than now, but exclusive 90% of the time. Go human only? Good, kick ass. Go bi form? Good, more kick. Go tri form? Roflestomp. Human should not be able to novadwarf, while still novadwarfing, is my vote for the record.

In thinking more about toggle suppression in forms, for which I initially was indifferent, I must now vote no after further consideration, for several reasons. 1. If I am a tri form welding Kheldian, I would not have enough slots to make forms effective, so this is largely moot, as I have said before. It's pointless for toggle shields and attacks to be active in human form, when they're largely of no use, like most powers underslotted. 2. If I am a bi form Kheldian, I could slot human powers to be effective, and in this case toggle suppression makes sense. Which leads to... 3. Choosing forms has, and should, always be a trade. Much like using rest, I accept the fact that I am rooted and vulnerable, or using energy transfer, I damage myself. If human form where made as powerful in bi or tri form as it is in single form, then the point of forms is moot. When I choose forms, I unlock powers that are mutually exclusive with others, in this case human form. 4. The end drain would carry over, no thanks. I would hesitantly consider bi form be allowed to toggle surpress, but the effort and work to make such a strange contrivance happen is not worth the return. Kheldians are far better served from fixes that have a much lower time investment and yield far better returns. Orbiting debt works in dwarf, mag protection is a selectable power replacing a human form power no one uses, damage cap increase, taunt proc in dwarf, nova damage buff, make each form more potent, have a way to achieve mag protection in human, etc.

Interface Procs are Bugged...my Test Results might show why
SwitchFade replied to Bopper's topic in Bug Reports
This seems like it's an error in maths, as though a perenthesis was used improperly, or not at all. For example in the formula above we see 100%-50%•50%. GERMDAS stipulates that order would be multiplication first, followed by subtraction, in this case. Hence, the 75%. If we modify the equation as such, (100%-0%)•50% our result is then 50%. Just a simple example. Perhaps a Dev can post the line code that includes the formula to eliminate simple errors in order, just to eliminate the easy stuff?- 45 replies

Also, my water/Sr didn't take the T1 attack, that triggers opportunity offense. The increase in damage is pitiful. I only use the t2, which procs healing. Basically all my attacks heal me for a bit, plus dehydrate heals too. Surprisingly it keeps me at full health even after take a shot or two. Most build you see will drop the T1 attack by lvl 30.

Nova form is quite literally the only AT in the game that ignores travel suppression. I don't want to sacrifice that if such a thing as adding flight control would result in. I'm not opposed to better control, but squidy ignores supression, which most people forget. As long as that is left untouched, sure. Taunt in dwarf... Not opposed, bit I'm liking the idea that orbiting debt is a Dwarf usable power, with a taunt proc in it. PB changes, no opinion.

Had a little more time to look, That FF io in kick is a waste of cash, as you're not gonna be using the power. It looks like you're going for high recharge, which is good, but you may be missing the easiest sources of it in sets. Shoot for a recharge on both your nuke and tidal forces at 23-27 seconds as this is your primary damage output.

There is no origination for this idea. And it is an idea. Specifically, like all things that are related to communication, it will depend on context. For example, the word "dude" may have numerous meanings and any may be present at any time, depending on situational context. Interestingly, 2 or more contradictory meanings may be present simultaneously and only participants of the current communication channel and cultural medium may fully grasp the nuance. For instance, "dude? Dude! Dewd! Ah, dude," as proclaimed during a sporting event. In order to ascertain a real communal understanding our base understanding should hold the current societal precept as the norm, adapting meaning thereof, situationally. Currently, this base or common understanding has no known origin, being the afore mentioned idea. That idea is one of simple maximization of benefit. Hence, we find ourselves at a core concept of personal analysis of benefit. Humans make decisions when faced with options. These options have benefit or cost and may have interrelated compromises. We make decisions regarding this, considering self interest when weighing marginal benefit. This marginal benefit simply means, "what will I get for that and what will it cost me?" The next logical step is, "to get one more unit of that, how much more do I get and at what cost?" Now we come to the base premise: we make choices, weighing benefit vs cost, trade offs and decreasing returns. When we perceive that we are receiving no more benefit or are actually losing, we make a different decision. This is human nature and is the essence of what min/max is. Will I stay up one more hour watching Netflix? Will I get enough sleep and be ok for work tomorrow? When net good is eclipsed by net bad, we stop. Generally. Now, in game terms, "I'm gonna get most buffawesomesauce... More! MORE! Ok wait, I just got nothin. Damn! I got less! What the...?! I could'a got better if I did that??" Immediately switch to 'that'. Thus, min/maxing: greatest benefit considering all factors at lowest possible cost. Happy hunting!

I would not be in favor of end drain from suppressed toggles while form shifted
-
Annihilation is better off in whirlpool. Tough, weave have good set bonus potential, look to 5 slot this at least. Tidal forces is way under slotted, you'll hit this and then geyser, you want them on the same recharge timer.
-
You've gutted your dmaage output. Geyser, Whirlpool and dehydrate are huge damage output. You have hasten at 49, this will be a very painfully slow crawl to 49, even at +0 Tons of wasted slots in power drain, you can solve end issues other ways. For starters.

Patch Notes for February 11th, 2020
SwitchFade replied to The Curator's topic in [Open Beta] Patch Notes
You're saying that auras procing the global cause repeated taunt sound? Egads. That's... 🤔 -
Disagree. Done.

Gold Bond. If that doesn't work, see the Doc. 🤔

It's also ugly as fork.
