I hate reddit, I truly do. I only use it for D4 news(don't even care about the CoH reddit). But this right here is pure gold. The discord is just reddit with more outdated memes or sometimes useful advice. Oh, and maybe the folks on the discord don't resort to racial slurs or whatnot as often

This here is why I'm less and less inclined to form PuG TFs. With this amount of whining, there's far too much room for a simple mistake to be blown way out of proportion. Plus...you know, all this dodging of accountability is reaching superhuman levels. *Others bitch and moan about team lead and or members not doing X* 'Kay get off your arse and form one. *Coughs and silent shuffles, then pitchforks* Yep... Both parties should communicate well of course, but(and not giving this team lead the benefit of the doubt with the rude response) also, it's just if this is so much of an issue and neither party wants to admit some modicum of fault(as VERY apparent in this whole thread), why not just form your own team? That way you can set up your own little rules on the playground, so to speak.

Yeah I find that interesting as hell! I mean think about it: MM tanks..wish folks did that more back then. Woulda been awesome to see this lil 800 HP dude herding mobs lol! This. I mean before the scorp shield nerf, my Ice/Fire was superior damage AND defense. She tanked a +2 reich with TWO brutes trying to peel his aggro [Melee Radial is great, really lol]. Maybe on SOs this is a thing but if IOs are in play lol sit there and hold my beer

Grab IO’s. That’s my list. I tank on every AT, one because I don’t wanna sit and wait for folks with SOs to commit unalive, and two because I wanna see if there’s an AT I can’t tank/do superior damage/whatever else the AT does. Turns out the only AT I can’t do this with is MM. too slow and dependent on pets, but I’ve seen some impressive MMs!

Rep, while I know it isn't going away, never really held up with me. No offense to anyone in particular but I've gotten to a point where I know what works and doesn't work for me in CoH. As such, I am less(well, not influenced at all actually) by anyone with a high rep count. I honestly thought people just got that because they post on the forums a lot. I've seen some erroneously misinformed post from folks with high reps on a regular basis, so that may have molded me into the way I am now. I'm sure people will be validated, as they always should have, solely by their post on subject matters. While you may know a lot about X, you could be spewing ignorant crap about Y. High reps were, imo, very misleading for new players.

In a sense, you're right on that. However, looking at most of the mishs, a lot scream "Speed me". That is to say a lot of them are just defeat boss X or grab glowie Y. Now, I'm not saying that's the only way, just...I wouldn't be surprised if it's sped. I wouldn't waste my time killing all unless I was in a particularly good mood, given that it really is just smack up a buncha crey for an hr. I mean, could be Citadel or Synapse, but still. Or, being honest, I don't waste time with these TFs when Invader is so much faster/better to get. Teams can be...interesting on Excel.

Straight from Mids to Live for me. I don't care if it's exactly tick for tack on the numbers side, just so long as it's in the general ball park of what I'm looking for(Def/Res, Recharge, Damage.) then I could care less about the specifics. It's a waste of time anyway, outside of HM 3/4. I'll playtest it through TFs/teams, or solo a radio mish to see it in action.

Beam is good for sents, but everyone gets -regen on dis. Fenders get better -regen values(if it’s affected by mods, don’t recall), but sents do get a nifty chain aoe thing

The issue is this isn’t true at all anymore, in HC. I didn’t get to play for 6 months, came back. In two weeks with NO market manipulation got 2bil. Takes 2 wks(of 1hr-4 at most gameplay), no market needed. The idea of haves and have nots is objectively not a thing in CoH. Simply play the game and do TFs and you’ll be a have.

I love it for a number of toons. Playing around with it I’ve created a number of visually satisfying fireballs

I wouldnt even look at a vanilla server. I think a lot of people get wrapped in nostalgia, and as such misremeber the grind and overpriced shit that was the AH as “Good old days”. Also, there IS NO POWERCREEP IN A PVE GAME. Let me say that one more time: THERE. IS. NO. POWERCREEP. IN. A. PVE. GAME! wish that BS would die in a fire, but to continue on, I enjoy the SG im in on Excel so im staying with HC for now. Plus, I don’t always have time to waste on CoH grind, so HC is nice to have for a more streamlined experience. At least for me.

Honestly though, what makes me do the Jonah laugh at this is: There are people doing lots for their volunteer projects, yet it comes off to me almost like there’s a creepy sycophantic devotion to these devs from folks here because “they gave us our game back(they didnt. That was Score or whatever, and THEY didnt want to but it got leaked, so…). Look, there’s liking the game and that’s awesome! But saying, “they do it for free” and expecting folks to not vent their frustrations, then when a dissenting opinion is given, being lambasted and given this “they do it for free” excuse( to those being mature about it) is laughable. Hence why people well…laughed. Also! They are not glass, they will not break bc some people on the internet said a mean word. They don’t need a cult at their beck ‘n call.
