To a degree I can understand, but this is City of heroes, the entire damn game is a crutch. This isn't WoW, this isn't a game thats even meant to be remotely competitve. It's a meme in terms of difficulty(I like this! If I wanted a game to be a sweaty tryhard in there are literally hundreds of other options), and people tend to overanalyze(HM 4 is a joke. It's literally the same shit from HM 1 but with stat boost. Wow, such difficulty. Wow. I say this as someone who ran HM back when it was popular 1 star through 4 several times.) HM 4 isn't build diversity, It's two or three cold corrs, insert obligatory fire blasters, and a Rad or Bio or Stone tank. Damn that's an insanely diverse team we got here...(not all teams for you pedantic folks but if you've ran it you know it's basically this.)

A collapse in the market also lowers the game playability
Seed22 replied to Diantane's topic in General Discussion
Breaks from CoH are good and healthy. In fact dare I say a lot more here should take them(myself included, though I'm biding time right now until June) What this is, given I've had a kinda sorta similarish initial reaction when I saw Enh Booster prices minus the forum post, is probably just an initial kneejerk reaction. OP, I might recommend the above; take a short break, come back in P6 if you want or later, and sell them then. They'll be back to 1M soon enough, if prior experience has taught me anything regarding the market. -
I never take the opinion of anyone here for sets, too subjective. I do know, though, that I've gotta get some ranged def on my storm/rad if I'm hoping to solo AVs easier(solo'd Inferno with a halfway decent build)

Am i wrong to want to leave these groups as soon as possible..?
Seed22 replied to Songseven's topic in General Discussion
My philosophy: Do you still get rewards at the end of the day? Did you get your merits? Did you get your IO if it's MC? Then WE won. I get folks may want to feel they contribute, but even on my tricked out toons I've been dusted before. It happens, but I also have to ask-are you the slowest one on the team? By that, I mean are you flying, literally, to each mob? My super speeder is already a mob over, not even because I want to smoke the map, but because....it's literally freaking super speed. Maybe most of the team has SS on or knows the mish and it's kind of second nature for them at that point(had that happen too for myself). My personal gripe is that to me, it starts to feel like folks want to be the star of the show more often than not. I personally could care less if I'm making major contributions on individual mobs. Maybe my contribution is stealthing the glowie so that that player whose a dad can get back to his kids faster. I've helped speed along TFs/arcs so folks could get back to RL obligations, and honestly? That's FAR more rewarding than killing generic mob #4445656 or being recognized for some buff that, while helpful, wasn't exactly desperately needed in that moment. At least, that's just my opinion. I don't believe OP is like that, don't want to ascribe a personality type to anyone, just noticing on Excel folks throwing fits more often and quitting teams for asinine things, saw this thread, and found it a good opportunity to vent a bit. Though a blaster popping insp on +0 is very concerning. It's +0, not HM. -
Are we likely to see taunt get fixed in the near future?
Seed22 replied to Meknomancer's topic in General Discussion
Agreed! Most tanks aren't good enough to understand this very simple aspect. It's why mine probably stand out, they do their damn(and ONLY) job. Your damage is average, the blasters/scrappers/literally anyone else will do more damage than your paultry numbers, so please do not think you're making a huge difference in that department. Taunt good, taunt help squishy* teammate. Snark aside, Taunt is not antiquated, it's a power to use if you want to be HM capable and/or not see your team dying left and right to aggro you COULD grab. I think I'm going to use the superpower of reverse taunt when our only tank doesn't have it for a HM TF or +4 TF. It's called the kick button *My builds all build for positional def if they're squishy types because of the ineptitude of tanks here. [not all tanks, mind you] so this doesn't really apply to me in most instances, but it's annoying to see deaths pile up because of bad tanks -
I've played this set before it even hit y'alls open beta. Honestly, it wasn't the WORST power, but im not gonna sit here and foam at the mouth over it. I don't know of any real way to have it keep up with zerg teams, but then again even on my Plant/Fire dom, keeping up with zerg teams can be hard! I like Storm Cell, love the rain effects, and find it viable in combat and from an RP perspective oddly enough, but leveling it will(or would in my case. I'm just gonna PL the thing.) be...difficult, to get the most out of. Same with Jet Stream. Personally, though, the latter can be skipped thanks to Chain Lightning being so spammable later on, and fun to use!

Invincible. The Boys. AstroCity. That's already three. Oh! Irredemable. Though I can't see them making games, or rather I hope they don't(they're better than Marvel* as comics/shows imo). *It's not hard to be better than Marvel. Several things already are. Tell a story worth hearing relevant to the times and boom! Better than Marvel/DC.

Scale Exemplar Enhancements Values better
Seed22 replied to Arbegla's topic in Suggestions & Feedback
They're asking, I believe, for the SO Enh VALUES to be made parodied of IOs(i.e, something something +38% end reduction idk. I don't have spreadsheets :P) without any of the additional doo-dads. Not more slots. I personally would like that as well for our non IO'ed brethren. I've had to remember, it isn't as easy to just pick up n go. Lot of us vets have stashes upon stashes of useless things, but they've yet to participate in the probably unhealthy hoarding practices of CoH players 😛 -
If I understand it, you're right, but for a different reason I think. I have ~87(idc) 50s between my 2 accounts. Lets say hypothetically I wanted to get just TWO 50s ehhhh I dunno, the mini. My dad loved the mini and got it for himself through INF on his own account, but it was HORRENDOUSLY expensive, and we're both billionaires across all 3 accounts. This isn't as affordable as we've made it out to be. Or rather, it can be, but we'd need a person, a place, and a good time to mobilize such a guide. That's for another thread though. We can't just keep dismissing the prospect of casual/newer players, then want casual and newer players who have the knowledge of us old heads(game wise :P) **This being WoW-Mythic may be more of a...stat-boost the video game(my opinion) pastiche of WoW Mythic, not sure but what I can tell you is I've been playing D4, and thanks to CoH HM, I'm actually handling pretty well considering I suck at console games lol **I forgot the Math: Mini: 250 PAP Cost: ~3.1-3.5M AH Limit: 10 Toons: 2 250/10=25 x 3.1-3.5=2 x[77.5M-87.5M]=155M-175M Plug n play as desired for variable accounts.

What's the smallest change to CoX that you really want?
Seed22 replied to DougGraves's topic in General Discussion
Double auras?(and not the trail aura thing) That'd be neat. -
Well if we're sticking to facts... CoH today is objectively better than older CoH. The mindset support players had preshutdown was pathetic, entitled, and downright dumb as hell. I say this having 25+ 50 trollers and defenders. Made me embarrassed to even have one at 50. Today? You wanna be a star go do HM. Support is practically essential there. And the blasters were literally trash tier as an AT until the issue where they redid defiance, and even then they went from trash to somewhat playable. Sustains put them into solid tier, and HC really brought them into god tier. Tanks back then wanted the team to wait for them to pull the entire map while the rest of the team played dominos or cards in the back. Wow, What riveting gameplay CoH preshutdown had its charm, but that shit was terrible. And I say it having played from i5 till the end. Team play now may seem like zerg meta, but considering the alternative is wait for some meathead tank to pull the entire map while a Fire Blaster killed everything? No son, THIS is the best CoH will ever be. And THAT's an objective fact.

Back in my day we had to go up n down the Hollows...both ways! Nurse: oookay granpa, now could you please just place your bingo chip? And yep! With parent supervision ofc. I mean, all I really did was run around with whacky toons and get em into their teens at most. Wasn't until years later I got a 50.
-
I played back in i5, don't exactly remember when that was...but now I'm 26. It's really hitting me just how fast that bugger flies!
-
Maybe you could proc bomb it? If not dump it.
-
How comfortable are you with IOs? If you're decently comfy, I'd recommend building for softcapped(45%) ranged or melee def. Some will say you don't need it because teams, but well...sometimes folks just wanna get on an punch some capes in the face er uh arrest some folks I guess😛 This should make you fairly tanky. Also grabbing one of the melee hybrids(radial if you literally want a taunt aura :P) will help immensely. It worked for my Ice/Fire who ended up tanking a +2 reich and AVs, with two brutes trying to peel aggro. This sounds like hyperbole, I guarantee you it is not(Melee hybrid came in handy here!). Good luck on your journey to prove to folks that no, blasters do not taste floor anymore 😄

Is Regen poor or simply challenging (Psi/Regen build request)?

Oh! lemme walk that back then haha! -
Is Regen poor or simply challenging (Psi/Regen build request)?
Seed22 replied to Waljoricar's topic in Scrapper
Capped res resist debuffs right? If so then my dark/ss does this. All damage types as far as im aware are capped after standing in a mob for a little bit. Amazing what cardiac and tank IOs can do! Now on SOs, who cares because SOs=trash by endgame, but for IOs... People trash on cardiac but that got me capped res! Oh and the stacking tank IO means it's effectively perma. I think what you mean to say is it's hard to do constantly, but it most certainly can be done. -
I love AE, for both farming purposes(never built my own though) or to create narratives* and standalone mishs I'm not too sure what RP elements would entail, but in the past my arcs have been RPish in sofar as I've created an origin series for one of my older toons(on my older PC that died xD). As far as custom enemies? It really depends on the arc and character. I've created whole custom groups that got deleted as I lost interest in the toon's origin story or potential narrative, and I've also imported my own toons to serve in custom groups(Paragon Heroes and Rogue Isle Villains respectively.) Difficulty in my mishs can vary. Sometimes they're ridiculous, other times, almost a walk in the park. I'm working to create a middle ground, but that comes with time(to understand how powers differ in AE.) As far as dealing in the lore of CoH? Depends. I find most of the lore to be INSANELY boring, so what I do is do...lore-ish arcs. I try to make sure I don't muck up major things(like claiming to kill LR or something equally bombastic) but I could care less when or if the Luddites are gone as I may need them for something, or if X group had Y that didn't play a major role in the CoH meta narrative. *I'm currently working on a narrative surrounding more 'slice of life' or whimsical shenanigans in Paragon/The Isles. We get enough 'save the world from X or Y' but where are the 'Stop Ms. Ester from being eaten by radioactive fungi' or 'Go get coffee from Aeon Cafe'(which sounds bland but this is the Isles, so...)

Are there any server(s) that are more child friendly?
Seed22 replied to okpokalypse's topic in General Discussion
I completely understand, as I remember our dad getting us into CoH young and being mindful of the banter online to an extent. What I can recommend now that we couldn't then is: Remove general chat IMMEDIATELY from all parties' chat window. Trust me on this one(I mean, you've seen it too so I doubt you need to trust me but still :P) To ease em into the game and to keep things from getting out of hand, start out with just y'all as a team. This allows for pacing at your leisure and can gradually introduce them into team play! Once they do go out on their own, impart these wise words: Some of these people are looney and outside of specific mission related instructions it may be best at times to ignore team chat. -
Is Regen poor or simply challenging (Psi/Regen build request)?
Seed22 replied to Waljoricar's topic in Scrapper
Nope. Grab Ageless Radial and call it a day. (i meant to snag the -recharge part. Plus there are a sizable amount of enemies that stack -recharge pretty quickly) DO NOT rely solely on team members to shore up weaknesses. I have been in FAR too many PuGs where you'll be lucky to get a buff from a buff oriented set, which is....weird. Build to be as self-efficient as you can, then lean into incarnates for what's left over. In the instance you exempt, most content with IOs in place will be relatively smooth, even with a(more than likely) Pug support who doesn't know the first thing about their powerset. I try not to offer slot advice or powerset takes(not anymore. The folks who I did like discussing powersets with are either in the discord or gone so), but if there's one thing I can offer that transcends builds it's the above. It may not be liked but that's just my take, having dealt with Pugs from i6 till now. -
I played during that time, from i6 onward. I think my first 50 back then was a NB/Regen stalker, which was neat for sure! But what I really want to know is why does it matter now how folks get 50s given how easy it is? If that makes a bit more sense?
-
I just have to ask though: Why? I mean it was an achievement to who? You personally? If so then that's perfectly reasonable! But even then, why does it matter how you got them? Makes me think folks with more free-time than others will get them 'the natural way' more often. I don't, so I have to rely on PL'ing. Others? I can't speak about or for. Is there a literal RL cash prize for having 50's "the right way"(no such thing) that I'm missing out on here? If so, I'll switch back to *shudders* having to PuG to 50. I don't understand what this badge provides, either. Khelds unlock got moved from 50->20->none, and same for VEATs, so there's no real badge to it anymore. All's to say it really is just a game at the end of the day, so I doubt(moreso hope) no one here cares this much about being 50 or how one goes about getting a 50.
-
I know for an objective fact no one here will ever get a single one of my 50s names. Ever. Why? Same reason you all won't swipe eachother's names. You'd have to have access to their account, pick out a particular name, wait...however many days(plus 50s are immune so lol not happening), THEN plan on your RL calendar the day to steal their name. If any of you do that, seek professional help. All of that's to say, I'm not sure if this is the same thread from back in the day when this was introduced, but if it is, don't worry about the naming policy! Your names will all be fine, and I doubt anyone will do the above to take it.

Been around since just before i6(but was a little one back then, so really it was my pops and older brother who'd been around). I remember the horrible days of "you're too far from sidekick" I also remember the old naked Rikti 😛
