  1. @Sovera talked me into respecing my FA/EM Tank. Now cruising with ET/BS/TF/Burn, using whatever is up. Hit a few pylons, averaging 3:30 with assault core fired off to start. Not bad for a tank. Kicks the crap out of my SR/Claws tank's times. Hell, it's better than the Claws/SR brute's average time. Fiery Embrace backed ET and TF are nice. Edit: Respec knocked over an hour off my solo max diff ITF time.

  5. I tried it. What became weird is that I ended up with a pauseless attack chain with just boxing, cross punch and the T2 from the set I was using. So brawl ended up not entering into it. Seems like doing this on a corruptor may be even more interesting than a sent just for scourge but of course the sent can live in melee without issue.

Someone on the old forums had as their forum icon a gif of a girl using what I can only describe as energy martial arts from some animated something or other. Same pompoms of doom but also on her feet. Does anyone remember this or have any clue what show it was from?
  7. That was @Werner I ain't that good. No shockwave? No massive collapses due to stacked slows? Ok, I really need more slow resists. No shockwave? Damn... nice job! I shall again peruse your build to see where mine is wrong. I suspect it will all come down to you having more defense and slow resists. No shockwave? WTH is wrong with you?!!?!? 🙂 Edit: Reread your comments about why you're not running it or taunt. Makes sense, really. Very nice and thanks.

  9. He's freshly T4ed and 50. Was sitting on 200 emps to start him. Just go start a solo max diff ITF. Hop into a spawn and see what happens. You don't gotta finish it. One plus you DO have, of course, is the glorious mitigation from shockwave and focus. My FA/EM tank only has a chance for KD in whirling hands. I'll look into getting more slow resists. Looks like I'm only sitting on 15%.
  10. Hit points. Positional Defense or Typed Defense (usually one of the pair as with resistance) depending on what the AT grants. Resistance, usually only one of the pair since they are often identical, so Smashing, Fire and Energy are common. I always assume my toxic and psi defense and resistance are zero even if they aren't. Damage buff. Influence.

  12. The statement I quoted that is completely false: This statement on its face without anything else is completely false. Running around with 59% defense and no DDR and expecting that to function as decent mitigation without other forms of mitigation backing it up is silly. That 59% defense will turn to negative defense on one max diff spawn in DA.
  13. I must admit I'm relatively new to this whole tank thing. Never really groked it back on live. But defense and DDR and the tohit equations REALLY don't care about archetypes. That said... dude... SR at tank values.... daaaaaaamn.
  14. Completely false statement. Absolutely, categorically, hysterically wrong. It's also easy to test. Go start an ITF with a character with no defense. Take a full load of purples insps to stay at 50% defense. That's just two medium lucks a pop. Do not eat more unless they are about to expire. Stand in a group. Monitor defense. Now do the same with an SR scrapper, brute and tank with the same slotting for equivalency. The scrapper and brute around 45% defense to all positions and 95% DDR and the tank should be sitting around 56% and 95% DDR. The actual cascading defense failure that will befall the character without DDR will rapidly become apparent. No, in normal content it doesn't matter if your defense is at 45% or 200%. Once you're at the softcap on defense, ALL incoming attacks have a 5% chance to hit which is then adjusted by critter rank, level and power adjusted accuracy. This is true whether you're at 45% in normal content or 58% in incarnate content. The floor is the floor. Yes, it is still true that if you enter a battle having eaten a huge luck, you will get to delay the defense failures caused by defense debuffs, possibly long enough to survive, but eventually those lucks will run out. And the characters with DDR will keep truckin while those attempting to rely on defense and no DDR will fall by the wayside.
  15. It's their job. They should be good at it. At least I have Focus and Shockwave to knock them on their asses when they try to run.
  16. Yup, have to do so every single character. And then I still see it in my powers list. So, while your answer is obvious, why should we have to put up with a nuisance when it could be so easily resolved?
  17. And 2 that get through takes them to 45 and 40. Then 40 and 37.5. Then 35 each. Then 30 and 32.5. Then 25 and 30. Just 4 attacks for things to balance out and a 5th for DDR to pull ahead. And how many attacks come through when you're taking the alpha from a full spawn of max diff Cimerorans? Yesterday, I took my freshly T4ed Fiery Armor tank into a solo +1 MoITF and came out the other end after around an hour with the Master badge. Today, I took that same tank into a solo +4 ITF and watched in horror as his 30% melee defense crumpled in seconds and was rapidly dropped into the -50-60% range. Then the Kheldians added in their slows and then he faceplanted. This occurred multiple times. Course those Khel slows were a constant problem in that second clear the cysts mission. Ya know what's awesome about SR and its 95% DDR? That never happens.
  18. I second what Jaxman100 states with this add: Quickness does bump recharge which equates to firing off attacks more often which then eats more end. For my claws/sr users, I go with conserve power/superior conditioning from the APPs but I also run permahasten which greatly increases my endurance drain. I really hate running out of end.
  19. Pinnacle was the drunk shard. But I always thought it was because that's where all the drunks played. Why, yes, it was my home server.

  21. New fa/em tank is running bar/ep/bs/ep with burn and wh thrown in. ET and TF were skipped entirely as useless. He's a whole lotta fun this way.
  22. Stuck that full AT IO set in Blazing Aura. Seems to be workin ok there.
  23. Just found out that sticking a chance for knockdown in burn has some doubletap unintended consequences. I'll look into using eradication instead of chance for -res. Was hoping the -res was the way to go but thanks for testing.
