I was there when the game launched and yes it is a very different animal now. I enjoyed it and maintained my sub until it closed. The game did change over that time, but I personally wouldn't have any interest in playing the early versions of the game today. Lots of great gaming memories, but I don't have rose colored glasses for those days either. I totally respect people who miss that and would like to have that experience again. It is kind of possible to do that. Create a SG called Old School or something, and use the guide below and roll back what your SG can use in the game based on the release version you want to play in. Certain things like the fitness pool can't be changed, but maybe you don't slot any of those powers.

Sounds like piss poor management at NCSoft. Look at what the folks at Homecoming are doing with just donations to cover cost, imagine if they could have subs and make some money.

SO's and DO's are a waste of influence. You should slot basic IO's . Either craft them or buy them from the AH. A level 25 basic IO is nearly the same as a level 50 SO and you don't need to keep updating it. Once you hit 50 you'll probably start using set IO's and replace them, but the basic ones will carry you through as you level up and save you a bunch of influence along the way.

People should play whatever way they want. New players would probably have a better experience if they level up normally since that is a major part of what makes the game fun. However if you are a vet and have done that multiple times, you might want skip some or all of that. A fully decked out 50 can go back and play the old content or do TF's just as well if not better. Play whatever way is fun for you.

Instead of removing the solo ability, perhaps there could be an extra reward for doing it simultaneously.

Excelsior is definitely the most populated server and very active. Everlasting and Torch are also great servers. Torch is similar to Excelsior, and Everlasting has a very healthy RP'ing community. My primary server has been Excelsior, but I have transferred and leveled alts on Everlasting and Torch. I bounce between servers depending on my mood. I would recommend you try creating characters on each. I can't speak to the other servers because I don't have any characters on them. The speed to level to 50 can be very fast even without farming. DFB until 15, then DiB, SBB and the TF's will get you leveled very fast. Then MSR's and ITF's will push you across the finish line. From what I have experienced plenty of people are taking their time leveling, so I doubt you will ever have a hard time finding teams.

You can also use the LFG tp trick to get to Lady Grey. Que up the Lady Grey task force, lock the group and bingo right there.

You can skip the Holtz/Honoree part and save a bunch of time. Once Lady Grey gives you the mission go back to Ramiel and choose the auto complete. Then go back to Lady Grey and continue. Sure it's a little cheap, but unless your a masochist it's worth it.

First thing is to train ASAP when you hit 50, you won't start getting incarnate experience until you do. Next your first priority should be to get your Alpha incarnate slot open and slotted with a tier 3 power to get your level shift, which makes you level 51 when fighting everything. There is also level shifts for doing the same thing for your Lore and Destiny slots, but that shift only working in incarnate content. The next thing you should work on is getting your 4 passive accolades unlocked.

Welcome home both of you. I would suggest you check out the guide section of the forums. There have been a lot of quality of life and other changes since the game was live, all for the better. Have fun.

This is true, again in the real world. The potato and other commodities are tangible, you can hold them in your hand and see the physical evidence that they exist. A digital game currency where only the devs know how much is in circulation, is quite a bit different.

This is definitely the majority of opinion of the computer game economic professors in this thread, but this isn't the real world economics. There is no central bank controlling the creation or circulation of game currency. I could generate 100 billion, but if I didn't spend it there would be no effect on the game economy. Since there is no central control of the currency no one would even know I had it except the devs. So it's mere creation can't effect inflation. Now if I used that 100 billion and bought everything at 100 million, I bet I would have an effect on inflation.

Since Winter IO's sell for +20 million, you could look at it a number of ways. You could have picked up a Winter IO and a number of other goodies for the price of a Winter IO. You could sell the Winter IO and get your money back and keep the extra goodies. You could get 2 Winter IO's which you could keep, or sell to make a nice profit. Or you could get nothing and lose big time. It's a bit like playing the lottery.

As I've said I support the global proc, but I wonder how much it would really be used? Not every build would want it since it would effect all KB powers and as it's been pointed out, you may want to keep the KB in some powers. It just might not be as widely used as some people think.

Just because some people would prefer a knockdown in a power over knockback, doesn't mean they don't want to see any knockbacks at all. With my grav/strom troller I want minimum knockback in my storm powers. When I wormhole the mobs into a spot, I want them to stay there. With my grav/energy dom, I want to keep the knockback in some of the blast powers. It's not an all this way or that way issue.

True with storm you may want to keep the knockback in some powers. So the global proc would just be an option for some builds.

Perhaps, but ATO's are probably the one case where merits are out of wack in terms of value. You could convert 100 merits into 20 million selling converters, and buy two ATO's.
