  1. I think we could do with alerts of in-game happenings, and more happenings. I want the city to seem alive and the players to interact with the world, not just mobs placed upon it (which is another suggestion altogether, which is another suggestion <- one for the Police Squad fans). The lazy manifestation of this would be just some "Occurrances" chat channel where things get spammed when they're on. I don't like this idea at all, it seems too meta, too check-listy and non-organic. Instead, I'd like some kind of thing you can check on your own terms, so you whip out your stolen police radio or newspaper and, perhaps, a UI element pops up with currently occurring things on it (and time remaining, because how many times do you just get there when the burning building or troll rave is ending?). Or there is a ticker on a building with HAPPENING NOW, or BREAKING NEWS: on it. Or a video screen, a LED/LCD advertisement board (hello 2023) or some other non-UI in-world element indicates the emergency. Maybe you're a tech origin with a wrist-mounted news feed or something?
  2. There's a power called gang war. Why aren't there any street fights? Would it kill the processors to have some gang-on-gang action? I mean, make the city seem more alive and less about "pods" of "mobs" waiting to be "farmed". A good example is the fire events in Steel Canyon.
  3. Aww, what did our corporate profiteers ever do to you? Oh.
  4. Er... nnnno. Crackers are these: https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/264902491 Ignore the disgusting price. That's just 13 years of.. oops, nearly got me! Haha!
  5. Such a heathen, they're clearly crisps. They come in crisp packets. I don't get it. Could you elucidate please? The player-base always justifies OP stuff with, "you can turn it off if you don't want it", or "you don't HAVE to run a full team", etc. Then we get comments like, "Nutters doing personal challenge runs". I leave it to the rest of you to judge that comment and reflect on what it says about people who suggest that options are better than actual limits.
  6. Who knows what the numbers are? Certainly not me. Or you.
  7. It's ironic to see so many people lamenting the powercreep they've (we've) all asked for/taken advantage of. More speed! More enhancements to speed! Athletic speed on top of that! Teleporters, convenience items and special routes (through pvp, pocket d etc) to allow us to go from one place to another very quickly. Now the City feels small. And we reminisce about the days when it was challenging to bypass groups of mobs. Do we realise now that the journey was part of the fun?
  8. I feel like I don't get ... is directed the right word? I mean, I feel like I don't get pointed in the direction of the big important stories, or if I do, that those are the ones I skip "reading". I always go the same route because I enjoy it: Habashy, Twinshot, Sondra whatsername, Aaron thingymajig, Laura whatsername, The matrix guy in Talos, Ray Cooling, all the faultline contacts... then I usually stop playing my character and do another one, heh. BUT I want to know about the big stories. The one that reveals what happened to statesman and the others... where do I start with those? Is there an indication somewhere and I'm just not observant enough to spot it? I would like to know where the "big lore bombs" are. A guide of some kind would be nice.
  9. Thanks Einstein.
  10. I was going to suggest this combo. I saw someone using it once, the teleport looked fun but I didn't level mine.
  11. If it's a 32-bit client, doesn't that mean it will "only" use 4GB of memory? That doesn't sound awful for such an olde game, to me.
  12. The metadata says 08 ‎July ‎2007, ‏‎21:05:53 but it might be wrong.
  13. Remember when it looked like this? 😄
  14. Ah, then that's where we differ. If it's for narrative purposes and not used excessively, I can tolerate some restrictions, if they serve their purpose properly.
  15. I don't think they exist.
  16. I have a physical one here, I got it with the Good vs Evil edition of the game. It's double-sided. Oh hang on, it's different!
  17. The more you post, teh more I think you want another rework of Dark Astoria 😉 I do too! It's such a cool atmospheric zone, but f-that, I'll just fly over everything np. Now, let's think how movies get around this. Well if I think about the X-Men, there's always a reason Cyclops can't do anything for the entire movie. It could by kryptonite or some maguffin or a tradition or an old charter or something, but the point is that disabling heroes is a staple of the genre. It happens all the time, it's part of the three-act structure. Re: Shadow Shard. I have a few golden rules for video games - Floating islands always suck is my #1 golden rule. Roger Dean has a lot to answer for.
  18. One day you will get a pet - and that will do mild damage while you sit there respamming controls. Fun! (or so I'm told)
  19. The Grimm family should be righteously very angry.
  20. "Read the room" means to consider what everybody around you is thinking. I don't think that makes sense in this context. Thanks for reminding me about the quotation period tho, I understand the latest posts are back on topic, but I wanted to talk about the other thing, and so I did. FREEDUMB!
  21. Whenever I was grouped with Illusion controllers, I considered them lazy. Then I played one - what a bore it was to keep summoning over and over. It's a shame, it looks so cool on the tin. Then the Mastermind came along!
