  1. Hey SV, I'm dying to get your new Rad SFX. could you be so kind as to post it in a zip file like the olden days? I can't get the CoH Modder tool to work on my mac =(
  2. If you have already failed to see the light of Emperor Cole's ways, then Lord Recluse will have no use for your kind in the Isles. Go frolic among the so-called heroes. We villains have standards to uphold.
  3. I play a grav/ dom and the grav powers are not so benign. crush, lift and propel can be slotted to become quite strong attacks, and further enhanced when your enemies are under the effects of gravity distortion. grav distortion and grav distortion fields are also strong enough to hold down AVs. I haven't played around with dimensional shift too much to give advise, but wormhole is fun. the pet is kinda meh, but comes in useful sometimes. I don't have a /time controller, but I think it's similar to a time/ defender, which is broken in a good way. you can carry the entire team with it. So you can pretty much focus on team support, which comes easy with /time's set of powers, and still not be busy enough to sneak in a few damaging attacks in. The problem I usually encounter with doms, defenders and controllers is that they have so many great powers that I have trouble choosing with the limited power picks we are given. On one dom, I sacrificed def/res and getting mezzed just to take most of the primary and secondary powers. And she's still quite tough... more than survivable, especially on a team. Solo is a bit slower and harder (requires a bit of strategic thinking--like don't go Leroy Jenkins on a mob), but still able to hold her own on +2x4.
  4. Now that you have the power, use it destroy and oppress all who would oppose you. 😃 Long Live Lord Recluse!
  5. the SFX mods have been tried and tested. and they will reside on a separate folder if you do it manually. If things go wrong, just delete the new folder. You can also mod it using the mod tool made by @The Philotic Knight. you can check it out here and yes, it will change the all archer powers, including your enemies'
  6. Welcome to TWANG. They are a fun (and surprisingly strong) all archer group... and one of the quietest I might add. I'm Lightfoot (the tank) when I do catch TWANGERs on wednesday and weekend runs, although timezones tend to play a factor. While you're all creating archers now, check out the more realistic "twang" of the bow string SFX mod made by @Solarverse (it makes your arrows hit harder) 😃
  7. I think it's intuitive to have a costume customisation option with the trainers. I certainly use it whenever I pick a power that cannot be pre-customised in the costume creator, like Combat Jumping Min FX or Sorcery Flight. So I reach level 4, pick up flight, switch to min fx in one stop. I suppose that's why trainers have limited customisation abilities as opposed to tailors/surgeons that can alter your body type and height. And yes, I agree with Jubakumbi. Customise Your Appearance in the trainer dialog is a just one more line in the trainer's menu option. I don't consider it much of a clutter.
  8. Here's my take on it: The blacksmith in the back of the mocha race to the dawn I think there's an error here. if it is Estonian "targus" translates to "wise" according to the reliable Google translate, so... As the (wise?) blacksmith (who knows his stuff) works through the night (I assume to fix your battered armour and weapons from the day's adventure) toast the terra sky and carried it to the groove. [we] say a toast as another day ends (orange sun sets in the valley) The back of the fire passed on and you got to it, Night has come, and still here you stand always proudly winding the word that the wolf's blood was flowing. so keep the rounds of ale/mead/wine coming You knew who to keep and they kept us together while we were in trouble. because you, my friends/brothers-in-arms/party members once again had my back. ... and we fight another day (or do the same shit again tomorrow)
  9. I'd probably be super cranky. cranky as usual, but with a cape.
  10. Cupquake is simply awesome! The chest emblem is inspired. brilliant job!
  11. not an expert on this, but what I've gathered is that binds and macros work from right to left, so: /bind T "powexec_name Vengeance$$target_custom_next teammate defeated" or /bind T "powexec_location target Vengeance$$target_custom_next teammate defeated" another disclaimer is I've never used Vengeance binds/macros, nor have I ever had the need to use the syntax "target_custom_next teammate defeated". I'm simply reverse engineering a bind/macro that I have for Jaunt (which works for me): /bind J "powexec_location target Jaunt$$target_custom_near enemey alive"
  12. If you're not so concerned about def and res (and the blaster's nemesis... mez) which is fine if you'll be running with teams, then it is very possible to up your damage. Usually the game is a balancing act between damage output vs defenses vs end consumption... not to mention recharge, mobility, secondary effects, etc. you simply can't have all 3 maxed out with the limited slots you have. now if you take one out of the equation, then reaching damage max at a very manageable recovery rate is quite doable. As for the build, I don't have MIDS so I can't view the file. It won't be much good anyway, since I doubt if I can give any useful advice. I will mention you might want to spread out a couple of Bombardment IOs: 2pc set bonus will extend your range, so it works for the type of blaster I think you're gunning for. While you're at it, do take a moment to study the diff set bonuses of various pieces as set bonuses do add up and enhance your toon. That said, sometimes a plain dmg enhancement is sometimes better than an IO from a set. I don't really have much experience with Hami-O's but I hear those rock too. Also, don't be blinded by purples. Yes they're great, but also expensive. There are uncommon and rare IOs that are sometimes just as good or better than purples for a specific purpose.
  13. While I am partial to the forklift myself, it might be too much to ask that the propelled objects match the current map: in caves, it's rocks; in regular buildings, it could be desks and plant boxes, safe, etc.; tech buildings... erm... tech things. Or I was just thinking a few hours ago while playing my Grav dom... it would be cool to mix up lift + propel + wormhole and have you pick up a foe and hurl him (or her or it) against the mob. I don't really care what the damage calculations would be. the act of doing it is good enough for me. 😃
  14. A lot of people may advice Clarion, but that's way at 50. While levelling up, you have the option to 1) always have purple skittles in your tray, 2) build for range def because that's how mez gets you, and 3) try to work in Rune of Protection. Each one of these solutions will not make you immune to mez, but all 3 will make a big difference in making your toon playable, even enjoyable. Good luck.
  15. It says there on the lower left. It's CoH Freedom server. We're on CoH Homecoming server. Yes, all servers are different, but built from the original Live code. The shards within each server are the same across the specific server.
  16. happy to help. 😃 additionally, my hand-me-downs from my father were his button up shirts (which he used for work) that either he no longer liked, were no longer presentable, or no longer fit him. I had little use for them, yet I got them whether I liked it or not. In contrast, I had to wait for the proper time to "pass on" my beloved Zildjian (drum set brand) shirt to my son, my Beatles, AC DC, Hendrix shirts to my daughters. I had to see if the recipients were ready or worthy of my trophies. As for my high school sweat shirt, my daughter who shares my fondness for jackets and thicker wear just "found it" (after rummaging through my closet) and decided to keep it. I think it called to her. It looks better on her anyway. 😃
  17. Survey done. hope it helps your cause. On the point above, I have a slightly different take on it. While my wife has her wedding dress waiting to become an heirloom (a day that hopefully takes longer than I anticipate), I have some quasi-heirlooms that I have "bestowed" upon my daughters. While others may simply view them as hand-me-downs, these are pieces of clothing that have special meaning to me and have luckily withstood the ravages of time (i.e. rock shirts, shirts with cool print/messages, my high school sweatshirt, etc.). They're not worth much in monetary value, but do carry a lot of memories and I'm proud to see my daughters wear them.
  18. I think the game has evolved from the standard MMORPG (tank/dps/healer) to something better. While each AT can trace its roots from the so-called trinity, each of them can be built according to how you want to play. The epic and patron pools allow for that, as well as certain IO sets. Now that doesn't mean you should turn your Blaster into a full on healer... well, you can, but you won't be as effective at it... but you can. whatever floats your goat. Hence a specific AT is not needed since the lines that separate the ATs have been blurred. "Does not need a specific AT" is NOT about the need for a specific AT. It's exactly that. The team doesn't need [insert specific AT here]. Don't tell me you've never run a TF/SF or mission with just Blasters, Dominators, and MMs. Was there a tank? no. Did someone else take the place of a tank? could be, but also doesn't matter. Or what about a Scrapper+Brute+Tank team? No heals but your own, no holds, debuff, nor immobilise but your own. or none at all. And yet it still works. Say you joined a TF with either a complete set of the notable ATs or a rag-tag band of whatevers, and you go AFK for 5 mins. Then when you come back you find that they completed the mission without your help. It does not equate to your character not making a difference. While it's true that you will be missed as greatly as the void left by your hand when you pull it out of the water, your presence there made a difference. Just because the team didn't crumble when you died (or went afk) does not belittle your worth or your utility. Rather it illustrates what great teammates you had/have. I reiterate that the team is greater than the sum of its parts. Should one part fail momentarily, the rest adjust until he/she recuperates. Should one part be missing, the team compensates one way or another. If you want your character to matter, then play as a team not as a specific AT or role. Your type of powers are inconsequential; what is important is that you have enough confidence in yourself, your toon, your play style to know that you do matter. If you are sincerely pulling your weight during a run, then you are making a difference and you are important to the team effort. So for every successful team mission you've accomplished, you can chalk it up as making a difference. _____ I posted this last night... and I just had another thought when I woke up this morning: Go run an TF (I suggest the Terra Volta respec trial) solo at +4x8. count how many times you die, how long it took you to finish if you finish at all, how many insps you popped, temp powers you carried, etc. Now go run a team with a nice mix of ATs (doesn't really matter what). compare how many times you died, how long it took, etc. Now forget your toon for a second and focus on the members of your team. THAT is your contribution when YOU team. I hope this helps people realise their worth.
  19. And you, sir, have been fighting a good fight. Half my toons are playable thanks to you.
  20. I seldom take the T9s that have a crash to them. Sure it can be mitigated, but doing so usually involves investing in another power and additional slots that can be invested elsewhere. T9s or T8s that provide self rez are also skipped. I plan my build to not die during a fight, so having a self rez power choice available in the late 30s when I'm considerably stronger is counter intuitive for me. I can and do simply invest in the Return to Battle power from P2W lady. 1 million inf is a less of a premium than a power pick. AT-Specific: Blasters and Peacebringers. Both primary and secondary T9s are awesome in almost any power, and nigh mandatory IMHO Scrappers and Brutes. Above comments pertain to some of the secondary T9s. Warshades and Sentinels, even the secondary T8s. Dominators and Corruptors. I haven't tried all of the powers, but most of them are fine by me. Some could use a bit of love, but I take them and use them nonetheless. Additional note on Elec Assault Dominator's secondary T9: they get another pet that I feel is rather unfair and inconsistent with the other powers. (other dominator pets like Jack, gremlins and stone etc. have their shortcomings and misgivings, but I still like them, take them, and work with them in their current state) Spiders are fine as they are... unless there is hope for more spider pets. I likes cute spider pets. 😃 I have not played Defenders, Controllers, MMs, Stalkers, or Tankers enough to comment on theirs.
  21. Here's another way of looking at things. The team doesn't need a tank. (all archer team, all spider team, etc.) The team doesn't need dps. (tanker tuesdays, thursdays, whateverdays) The team doesn't NEED anything, but is happy to have you whatever AT or role you play. the team is greater than the sum of its parts.
  22. I'm learning Defenders now. I solo a lot, so I have it built to be soloable. But I also have a few powers in my belt for the good of the team. Most ATs can be run solo with little difficulty. What I have noticed is that the tank/scrapper/brute/stalker/whatever doesn't need that buff or debuff, but providing it makes things easier for them. On a full team of 8 that moves fairly swift, it is hard to notice a support role's contribution. But on a casual team of 2-4, it is more pronounced. You/we are carrying our weight. Are we needed there, no. But we are there and we do make a big difference.
  23. I have 66 toons 26 of which are 50, only a handful have T4s. The rest are waiting in line for play time to get their alphas unlocked or progress with incarnate stuff. One or two will never slot incarnates because that's what their concept dictates. And concept is king. 31 are concepts that I like, have test driven and will most likely progress as soon I get around to playing them. During the course of levelling them up, costume changes and name changes often happen as their concept develops (along with power picks and play style). Rarely, but still happens, they get re-rolled to a more fitting AT). But sooner or later, they will get their alphas and T4s. The rest are drafts. some will stay (with probably a little tweaking here and there), most will undergo massive changes, others will be deleted. So far I've played almost all of the ATs except Tanks, Controllers, and Stalkers. And from the rest, my favourites so far are Spiders and Blasters. But that's not to say I don't enjoy the others: some concepts are perfect for specific ATs, even though I'm not too good with those ATs. I've also tried most power sets, but nowhere near all combinations. I have my preferences and dislikes which dictates most of the pairings I do. I'm learning Defenders, Warshades and Masterminds now. I suppose I'm still searching for That One Toon. But I won't find it until I've tried most of them. The only thing holding me back is inf revenue. 😃
  24. If you don't mind going the blapper route, I can see rad/ice working. rad would be your debuff/range/snipe while most of your attacks will be up close and personal with ice. I have a rad/en blapper and and ice/ice blaster/blapper. play style is somewhat similar, but I can definitely see a concept somewhere in between. Best of luck to ya.
  25. I believe the variety is there, you just need to unlock it through a bit of creativity. Teams, TF/SFs are not obligated to run with a full set of 8, or with just 8 for that matter. I usually run with a friend or two, so there's just two or 4 of us at the most. (and none of that Tank/DPS/Heal/Control BS. We bring whatever toon we like and make do with what we have. Sometimes, there's a bit of role playing, like limiting the toon's powers to what is realistic for the character (I have a soldier who just has guns and gadgets, he has no business throwing force bolts from his hands or running super speed)... as opposed to going full meta with a fire/plant/dark whatever. How the mission progresses depends on who's present. Do we take them head on? Stealth if we can? or lure them to a corner and punch their lights out one by one. Some of my blasters like to punch things instead of snipe, others don't mind getting mezzed because that's part of their character, some of my sents can hold aggro and take punishment, etc. It's not all about speed runs and herding-AoE steamrolling. What I would like to see in terms of variety is a bit of RNG in the AVs and/or mobs we face. You got a team ready to face Silver Mantis? tough bananas because you're facing Ghost Widow instead. Expecting to be sapped by Malta? turns out they're experimenting with plant toxins instead. Ready for Longbow's Wardens? they happen to bring along Subjugators or Vanguard Magicians or Carnies. You hold the power to your enjoyment.
