As long as you don't pick any of the crab powers, (just bane/wolf/huntsman) then the back pack won't show up.

I know it goes against the purpose of the mask in the first place, but I don't blame the bloke. Could you imagine wearing a snot-sogged mask the rest of the trip? Anyway, here's something I saw for the first time in-game after more than a year of playing. I wasn't aware they came in this variant.

You make a fair point. And that's why editing in movies is great for the audience. We, the audience, don't want to waste time watching the heroes get into their costumes in real time. But in CoH, we are not the audience. For the rest of your post, it's pretty much: Contact: Go to Atlas You: But I was just there Contact: Mission is there You: Do I have to? Contact: Yes You: (drags feet) Fine! Still sounds lazy and entitled to me.

/Dark on sent like any sent secondary is fairly robust even if minimally slotted. I'm not from the min-maxing camp, so I tend to slot just enough in secondaries to either address a toggle's end drain, or to extract a nice set bonus. I didn't take the last two of the secondary because they didn't fit my play style. /Dark tends to be a bit end heavy in the lower levels especially with the shortage of slots to address it, but it works itself out towards 30ish. Dark Mastery isn't as hard hitting, rather it prevents your enemies from hitting you hard. I have them all 5-slotted and didn't really manage to squeeze anything remarkable out of them, so I might respec and just slot them modestly to free up some slots for other powers. All and all, I find the mastery useful. I have my primary to deal damage, secondary and the mastery to protect myself. so true to being a sentinel, my toon is fairly sturdy that doesn't pack a lot of punch. 😃 I haven't tried Dark/ on a sent. I have Dual Pistols on him.

The Undying Boxer - Mutant Dark / Ninjitsu / Soul scrapper
Six-Six replied to EnjoyTheJourney's topic in Scrapper
Thanks for explaining. I prefer this way rather than outright sharing builds because it allows to see the thinking and logic behind the slotting, not just stats and numbers. If my suggestions helped you in anyway, I'm glad. But your reply definitely helped me as well. So thank you. -
Wow really? Sorry to hear that. In that case, I hope you get your sword. And there is hope. There was a similar issue with the Ninja Mastery for sentinels where even the player can't see the katana (nor was there a choice even to pick one). I believe this has been fixed. So there is hope. I was just thinking a while ago that I play on an ancient computer that can't handle the higher graphic settings (actually struggles with the low settings). So I don't see some of the glowie bits of people's costumes, I don't see the city in ultra-hd, I don't see most people's powers in their full glory. I must be missing out on a lot. I suppose my head fills in the gaps.

I still don't get it. And I'm not trying to prove your version of reality/game play is wrong. I just simply don't understand it. You have a toon. You have a costume (which involves a katana) When you play, you're immersed in your character. When you fight YOU see your katana, so suspension of disbelief is upheld, the fantasy is propagated. I team with you. I don't see YOUR katana. Other members don't see YOUR katana. Why does it matter so much what we see or not see... and how can you be so sure we don't see it? Do you get enough comments about it to warrant such a request?

It's all about the story. Good movies are the ones with engaging stories, not wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am gratuitous action/sex/horror/crying scenes. Good books are immortalised by the stories they plant in your head. Even Facebook adopted the idea of "your story". CoH is no different. You're a friggin comic book character for crikey's sake. carve out your story. The initial sentiment makes me imagine Bats investigating his latest caper: Hmmm, there's a bomb somewhere in Gotham, but the lead takes me to Central City. (Hops on Batwing)... crap now it I have to go to Japan... to far, screw that. 😃 Imagine if you HAD to pay for the tram with inf. Or from what I hear from the "back on live" folks, travel powers weren't as commonplace and they had to foot it most of the time. the request just sounds lazy and entitled to me. I bet he/she never does the Numina TF, or much less the Dr. Q. So a solid no on this one. In fact, I would like to seem more "cross overs" where a contact will send you to "the other side" for a certain mission and not just an instanced van/tugboat map. Besides, it's a nice city. the devs put a lot of effort landscaping it. the least you can do is enjoy the view. I for one enjoy running to and from missions even with the TP powers or SG ports.

If you can see it when you play your toon... what does it matter if others can't?

The Undying Boxer - Mutant Dark / Ninjitsu / Soul scrapper
Six-Six replied to EnjoyTheJourney's topic in Scrapper
IIRC, Kuji-In Rin is your anti-mez clickie. I would much rather slot it with a single recharge rather than end redux. I also think that this clickie will handle all of your mez problems, so I would invest the power pick in something else other than rune of protection. Plus with the decent range def Ninjitsu has, mez shouldn't be a huge concern. Just my take. Ninjitsu shouldn't be too end drainy. Not too familiar about Dark, though. What I'm getting at is you don't really need the Perf shifter end mod in your end clickie. the perf proc is sometimes enough to fill the entire bar. (I only have perf shifter end mod and the proc in stamina, and the proc in the clickie. end bar is manageable. dips every now and then, but the clickie takes care of it. I think the end drain comes from Tough where you don't have any end redux at all. It does come at a rather high end cost. Whereas Bo-ryaku is an auto power that costs no end. You could switch the IOs so that Tough gets a bit of end redux, although I personally would slot a little more end redux in it (maybe the Aegis from Rune of Protection?) If you can spare a slot, double slot sprint for celerity end + stealth. the set bonus is a nice freebie. Finally, Barrier on a sturdy secondary seems a waste. I would opt for Ageless for recharge and end when you really need it. My two inf 😃 -
Recommend a duo combination for me and my 9 year old son
Six-Six replied to Blakestr's topic in Archetypes
Your son's 9? Let him loose and he'll be better than you in a few hours. My 9 year old son used to kick my butt around the block on console games WHILE he was watching TV.- 21 replies

don't imagine it. try it. it defies logic, physics, quantum mechanics, and probably cascading def failure

peanut butter, mayonnaise and pickles on white wonder bread. one of the things you have to try to believe.

really? faceplanting much on a sent? from my experience, all sent secondaries are quite sturdy even when minimally slotted. I usually just slot 2-4 just to get a set bonus or two in. Fire is no different. My fire/fire/fire likes to go up close on personal, so I front loaded the t1 secondary. the heals are good and on one, I slotted the full set of Preventive Medicine which has great set bonuses. Tactics 6-slotted with Gaussian also has amazing set bonuses to make you sturdier.

I suppose the reason why some epics are hands down more popular than others is utility. Energy Mastery is my go-to for my Brutes because of the utility. Same goes for Ninja Mastery for Sentinels as it can slot ATOs. More often than not, though, I tend to pick (if I decide to pick one at all) epics/patrons based on thematic, which adds a layer of flavour to the toon and not necessarily any powers worth using. A caveat on utility though: I saw a previous post about someone wanting more durability (from epics) for blasters. While I wouldn't mind, I think epics should supplement rather than complement the AT. Blasters pack pain, so blaster epics should enhance that instead of making them more durable... that's what the third power pools are for. Similarly, it irks me to find epics for brutes and scrappers that offer range attacks (again, personal opinion with which you need not agree on). I feel those don't add to my AT, just gives me a power pick for the sake of offering a power pick. I would rather the range attack be instead Foot Stomp or Savage Leap. Now that I think about it, some of the 5th powers from the third power pool seem more epic, like Relentless and Adrenal. Now those enhance my ATJust my take. On other comments: - I do have a Warshade waiting to tri-formed... as soon as I level up my current alts, and I get the courage to commit. - soloing, a lot of ATs are very survivable with just their primary and secondary powers. tertiary pools are mandatory picks at certain levels, but are otherwise unnecessary. same with epic/patron pools. And my mind/savage Dominator is greatly disappointed that Leviathan Patron pool does not let her control sharks

@twisted Oh definitely. My kheld has long been an incarnate since. He's human-only (which from what I hear is like holding a kheld back from its true potential) and I think he's plenty stronk with just modest (read newb and cheap) slotting. the other thing holding him back is the dunderhead on the keyboard controlling him. But I misread your original post intended to be a jest at the Dwarf form being the lobster. Sorry. just got up and coffee hadn't kicked in yet 😃
-
I wondered about this when my first Kheld reached lvl 35. The answer I got was awesome: You don't need epic pools when you're an epic AT. Whether it's true or not is up for debate, but the answer was epic in itself. 😃
-
I concur. I see the existing epics/patrons very limited when it comes to theme and performance. a lot of them just don't seem to be "epic" at all.
-
@EmmySkyYes... I mean no... sort of... It just so happens I enjoy your comments (along with MTeague, Vile, and a few others), and that they appear in the threads I'm interested in.
-
@Greycat, then those people are either dumb or evil... or it's one humongous peanut butter sammich... which shouldn't need it because the pb does the job even if you have a stack of 12. I'd go with dumb.
-
it's not presentation. It's to keep them from falling apart. They usually put a flag there instead of just sticks so you see it and don't bite into it jamming up the roof of your mouth. The "proper" way to deal with this is to hold your sammich securely before you take the flag out. Note: where I'm from, we rarely use these flags since there's barely enough between our sammiches that needs holding together 😃

I, too, was confused with the status effect duration at first. And your more recent post is correct. the lower then number, the less time you spend mezzed. Also, the "cap" you were asking about in the original post: the only answer I can give is that you can only have 5x of a particular set bonus (i.e. you can have 5x 6.5% mez res, AND 5x 3.5% mez res and so on, but your 6th 3.5 or 6.5 will not count and be wasted), until you reach the cap of mez res which is 75%(?). Macskull is correct, though. It is better to build up your ranged or aoe def/res -- which is how enemies mez you -- instead of directly slotting mez res/def. I can attest to this after a rebuild of my mez-magnet blaster. a switch to higher ranged and aoe def/res now lets him face off against rikti and carnies with ease. he still gets mezzed but A LOT less, and for shorter periods (like a 2 seconds). I'd also like to add that numbers and stats behave differently when you play. I suppose several factors are in play and the AI needs to reconcile every single one of them. that's why I'm not too fond of taking the stats to heart. They're a nice guide, but not the law.

Solarverse's SFX Consolidated List of Mods
Six-Six replied to Solarverse's topic in Tools, Utilities & Downloads
I'm sorry, but at the risk of sounding like a kiss-ass, can I just say that your most recent lightsaber SFX mod for katana has made the world of difference to my toon. I'm not a big Star Wars fan, but the mod has really solidified my toon, Miya Musashi who wields a vanguard blade. Like the Beam Rifle mod, I SWEAR it makes my toons attacks stronger--not a lot of my toons can tackle +2x4 at level 15. You, sir, have made it such a joy to play and next thing I know she's already at 24. Thank you, thank you, thank you. as always, I look forward to your next mod. =) -
You can always use 2nd and 3rd builds. One optimised for farming, one for PvE content. IMHO, Energy Mastery is the best brute mastery. unless concept dictates otherwise, it's my go-to mastery.
