  1. Perhaps Star Wars is learning from their sibling company Marvel. Many of the MCU movies reflect certain film genres, such as Ant-Man being a heist movie or The Winter Soldier being a political intrigue thriller. SW also has Dave Filoni. I'm not sure how much he contributed to Andor, but his Clone Wars also reflected certain film genres at times, or even specific movies. One, for example, was a kaiju movie-like story, while another was clearly influenced by Magnificent Seven and of course Seven Samurai. I have to wonder, if Mon Mothma is deeply tied to this story, can Jimmy Smits' Senator Bael Organa be in it as well? Interesting you bring up a spy thriller. While no doubt "dark spy thriller" is probably more in the vein of a Bourne movie, I got the distinct impression that some shots and locations in the trailer were influenced by the production designs of Ken Adams, who created a distinctive look, especially with the use of space and occasionally mimimalism, for the James Bond franchise, starting with Dr. No. You can see what I mean with the white conference room hosting the white uniformed men around the 0;54 mark. I'm intrigued by the soldiers in HoJo colors ("HoJo" as in Howard Johnson's, a former hotel and restaurant chain known for Googie styling and their distinctive use of dark aqua and orange). I'm trying to figure out if they're a previously unseen branch of the Imperial Army or Navy or if they're another previously unseen concept: a planetary army or militia in league with the Imps. The color choice doesn't really strike me as imperial. Imps tend to favor shades rather than color, with the possible exception of the use of red among certain elite troops or a couple of environmental colors, essentially camouflage for shoretroopers or mudtroopers. Disney seem to be determined to fill in all of the 19 year gap between Episode III (19 BBY*) and Episode IV (0 BBY): -- 19-18 BBY The Bad Batch -- 14 BBY (approx.) Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - the canonical video game. -- 12 BBY (approx.) Solo: A Star Wars Story -- 11 or 10 BBY (probably) Miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi -- 5 BBY Miniseries Andor -- 5-1 BBY Star Wars: Rebels (maybe to early 0 BBY) -- 0 BBY Rogue One -- mere weeks prior to the Death Star destruction. * "BBY"= Before the Battle of Yavin, a.k.a. the destruction of the first Death Star. EDIT: Oh, I'd also add that I think it hilarious that IMDB.com is not giving character names for many of the actors in Andor, but if you watch the trailer at Star Wars' official YouTube channel and have the CC on, you can see the names. Oops.
  2. Fantastic costume to fit the name.
  3. Actually that's not half bad. Have Sally deliver a massive sonic death howl. Not something I can recall seeing in game.
  4. See the problem there is that folks like me would not want fire or electricity. I was thinking when I first saw the thread that a chain whip channeling ice powers would be nice. I've even got a name for it (no, not sharing). But then you'd have your water benders wanting a whip made from water and channeling water powers, radiation would want...yadda, yadda...
  5. Peregrine Island and Striga Island. Perhaps it was the lack of war walls, but these two vastly different islands have a different feel than the rest of blue side, including Talos Island
  6. It wouldn't have to be tied to holidays and such would it? Just something that is run in the summer. Here's an example (just whipping up something): "Shades of the Past" Summer sunspot activity is unusual and has wreaked havok on the Ouroboros portaling system. Now weirdly-colored O-portals have been spawning randomly throughout the city and the islands. Superpowered types who've dared to venture to touch them have been whisked away to key moments in past times: Brass Monday, the 5th Column/Council War, the first appearance of the Banished Pantheon, etc. They've found if left unchecked, threatening groups will eventually touch the portal at the other end of time, and begin spilling into the present. It will be up to those who dare to enter the portals to drive back the threat and set a charge to destroy the portals after they themselves return through them. Because of the surge of opponents, they'll have a limited time before the portals are overrun. Admittedly that's big, but in essence, a scenario like this probably uses some things we already have, like O-portals and their graphics to accomplish a different look, say purple O-portals (purple is gold's opposite), and a different task - directing adventurers to a random instance with a growing number of opponents. If the requirements are not met in a limited amount of time, an invasion begins, but might not be limited to just Rikti or Nemesis. If the mechanics for those invasions can be applied to other groups, we might get a Banished Pantheon invasion, or a Sky Raiders invasion with Col. Duray filling the AV appearance role that Nemesis now plays. Etc., etc., etc. Badges for stopping each group involved in the event in time, and for clearing the groups if not in time.
  7. You're not alone, I too, thought it was 1. Just to be sure, are the parties that posted the answer reliable? They're not some flippant video-obsessed teenagers just spouting answers, or scam callers branching out into a new line of work are they? They're honest-to-goodness math professors, or at least stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night?
  8. Hmm... (checks Excelsior name availability) Interesting... Has anyone ever actually seen Spaghetti Betty at the same time as Major Event?
  9. After an umpteenth slaying in mere moments of Adamastor the other day, I got wondering if Zone GMs were now too easily defeated with our more seasoned and savvy player base. I saw this with Malta robots that some Power That Be dropped into Talos Island also, though admittedly it took a bit longer. Some of the other Zone GMs as well, like the Council Giant War Walker in Boomtown or Jack and Eochai in Croatoa. It also seems they're not hitting as hard or often. Again, maybe that's just because we've reached a level where collectively we can power through anything current. I enjoy getting a badge and maybe a few merits, but I'd much rather have the satisfaction of a victory powerful, somewhat-longer fight. I'm just wondering if the zone GMs could be ramped up somehow, more frequent and/or powerful attacks and greater durability in some cases, possibly with slightly greater rewards as compensation. Any ideas? Or perhaps everyone is just satisfied with a quick reward for quick fight?
  10. Glow looks great. While I love detail and intricacy, I find in costume design that often "less is more" so long as it is well-coordinated. Is it just the costumes that are new, or also the names? If the names as well, I'm impressed those three were available.
  11. Perhaps an air compressor?
  12. >.> <.< I see the Illuminati's mental conditioning program is working.
  13. That sound like an observation by The Question. Are you sure Girl Scouts, aglets, and 32 flavors of ice cream weren't involved?
  14. It's back up as of a moment ago, but yeah, the HC Launcher showed it was down. I blame the Illuminati
  15. So you made Hamster Huey go Gooey Kablooey?
  16. Excelsior crashed. Anyone know CPR for hamsters?
  17. Getting rid of that bit just made sense. In RL, I don't have to regain energy to rest, so a timer representing that is silly. Beside, when your character is using rest, they're highly vulnerable to fatal attacks, so there's a challenging enough penalty in place.
  18. Since we're talking new players, in regards to the OP statement of "Task Force Name", I'd suggest adding "blue side", "red side", or "co-op". While technically the villain side uses Strike Forces (SF) there's a common tendency to use "TF" to represent everything, which might be confusing to a new player who doesn't know a Virgil Tarikoss from a Earnesto Hess.
  19. I suppose it depends on who is making them, and perhaps what breed or crossbreed of grain is used. I've had some that I suspect someone tossed indigo dye into the yellow corn vat, but I've had others that there's a subtle, richer flavor. Because it is subtle, I wouldn't buy any that are priced significantly higher than yellow or white...what would Brits call them...maize tortillas?
  20. Which is why I'm concerned that there are 4 films in the pipeline, apparently all being shot at the same time. Short of a powerful story, can they really hold the audience on just the "auditory and visual experience"? I enjoyed the first film. Story-wise, it was a cross between an 1980s lone hero movie, and as Hyperstrike pointed out, Dances with Wolves. But the decade-long gap better be due to writing and refining a solid 4-story script.
  21. Used to hate Tsoo very early in the original game. That was back when one could run into a large room heavily populated with sorcerers. I've mentioned it elsewhere but it once took a pug my best friend and I were on nearly 3 hours to clear a large room that was mostly sorcs, with a LOT of hospital transports along the way. I don't recall when it happened, but they seem to have been toned down a lot. Hated Crey for the Protectors and their ridiculous 1 minute invulnerability to everything. I always felt it should have been changed to something like 90% resistance, so we could chip them down those last few points. I think they got changed recently, though I don't remember reading patch notes on that. Love the Freaks, always have, but I don't remember the super sappers from my time in the original game, and I hate how easily they recharge. Perhaps its just the swiss cheese that is my memory, but I seem to recall the rez could happen to any Freak, without the leeching, and I found that so much more fun, than one type dominant in the rez, and all others recessive. Still like the group though. I've grown fond of Skulls (or is that Skuls?) with the addition of the female characters, including leadership roles, they feel more fleshed out (no pun intended) and the Eagle Eye arc that was added is really a lot of fun. I suppose what makes me hate or like a group is to how well balanced they are between member types. If the group clearly relies heavily on 1 or 2 types, then that is a turn off. But the closer groups come to feeling like every member type can give me a notable challenge, especially if they coordinate attacks better than other groups, those are the groups that would appeal to me.
  22. Yes but this will be Dances with Alien Seawolves. Very different. 😉
  23. I saw that. I'm not convinced...yet. I'd expect a lot more gamma-infused beings than just her, even if the family DNA is to blame. Though...this might also be the way that characters like Doc Samson get into the mix.
  24. Tried it once. After fighting in a blue cave tunnel, back to the wall and fighters in close quarters in all directions, completely blinded by a dozen or more battle auras, I decided the blind monk approach wasn't for me and switched back to 3rd person view.
